Navigation / Wifi blown !! - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

About a week ago i tried to fire up my wifi due to large file downloads and it has been saying " unable to start wifi" i searched the forums and found answeres, but none of them worked for me. Also alls of a sudden my Maps navigation doesnt work at all. It stays on the "Searching for GPS" screen forever. Before it would fire up and find my location in like 5 seconds. Ive tried wipes, reflashes, spls, roms, market maps, custom maps, update_navigation.zip, and builds with facebook and navigation integrated. I also turned on the wireless location setting along with gps and it finds my location approximately but it doesnt allow navigation to go. I tried clearing all traces of existing maps to no avail. And now with ONLY gps turned on, it NEVERRR finds my location.. it always says " location cannot be found" . Just got a replacement from tmobile last week.. time for another one perhaps? or any further suggestions?

" Searching for GPS... " forever, on Google Maps Navigation...

I have tried many solutions posted to similar issues in this forum and none are working...
I reflashed the radio
I updated the radio
I also changed roms
I updated google maps...
I installed google voice
I turned the GPS on and off
wiped data and cache
also restarted the phone...
tried indoors and outdoors...
Google maps gets my location fine, but just when I click on navigate it loads and on the bottom of the screen it says "searching for GPS..." and never finds it, the GPS satellite icon shows activity...GPS Test says GPS on...I do not see any other activity at all on the screen though....
this is weird...any ideas? anyone else getting this "error"?
Do you have a data plan or other network connection while trying to get a GPS fix? If you don't, then it can take a REALLY LONG time to get a fix since it won't be able to download the almanac (assisted gps).
Also, some LOCATIONS tend to be very bad for getting a GPS signal. Near tall buildings, for example. Even if you have good exposure to a lot of the sky, the signals can actually REFLECT OFF TALL BUILDINGS and screw up your timings.

Yes I do have a data plan. No I am not near ANY tall buildings - I am in a residential area. I used to get GPS fine here when I had my Nexus One and my HD2 ... but this phone is giving me a hard time....I wish I could get it fixed -I was planning on taking a trip tomorrow and it would be nice to have it working, anyways it should work, I dont see a reason why it should not work...
any other ideas?....
anyone else having this problem? .... please advise me....
If google doesn't know the coordinates of the cell tower you are connected to, it may be sending you incorrect almanac data, which will actually make it HARDER to connect (since the GPS will be making incorrect assumptions about the visible satellites).
Try disabling your data services and reboot the phone.
I had the same problem for like 3 weeks, prior to it, my screen was cracked and i had it replaced at a shop. I finally took the phone apart, and the little cable was not connected. If the phone's been opened since last the GPS worked, check that. If not, No idea bro.

I have tried all of the suggestions I could find and still have no good results...

I just checked my logCat and I noticed 4 errors all in a row with the tag "MobileNavigation"... the message says "Network Error! 3 : true". Any insight on that?
Thanks in advance...
so no one knows how to fix this

My google nav app can t find gps but on the gps status i can fix on1-20 sats. the lock occures almost instantly, sometimes even whithout sats. When indoors (deep indoors) I get lock on 1-3 sats, near a window, at least 8-10 sats.
I d like to know if this is fixable, since I couldn t find another thread that treats this specific problem. I have LG E730 Optimus Sol Gingerbread.
I have the same issue with my HTC Amaze. Looks like there is a huge known problem with Google Maps. This is my second Amaze and both had the same problem. I have tried EVERYTHING. Looks like there is a known issue with Google Maps not using A-GPS correctly. I cannot turn off my A-GPS, so I'm pretty screwed, just waiting on ICS to come out.
I too have been having this issue for some time. This finally fixed the problem:

For my Glacier's Sense ROM, I installed DARKSIDE SENSE v4.0... of course I quickly reverted back to my preferred ROM immediately after completing the documented steps in the instructions. GPS works great... no more "Searching for GPS..." message.

I can't get to that link, can you PM it to me?
I finally found a semi-fix. In the A-GPS app, if you disable "filter GSP Speed" and disable filter strength, it has seemed to clear up the problem 90% of the time. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes to aquire, but sometimes it only take a few seconds and one it get's a lock, it seems to always keep locked on, which is 1000% better than what I was getting prior to this fix.

Navigation stuck on "Searching for GPS"

Whenever I use the navigation feature in Maps, it gets stuck on "Searching for GPS." I've left it like that overnight and nothing happened. The entire time, the GPS icon in the notification bar is blinking. I've downloaded the GPS Status app and it can't seem to be able to find my location either.
I've tried wiping everything, installing different roms, reinstalling the radio but nothing seems to be able to fix the problem. Navigation worked fine before. This problem just popped up out of nowhere. I've tried it when I'm outside, in different cities, but that hasn't helped. I unlocked my phone so I'm a bit concerned about having to send it into HTC.
Anyone else have the same problem or have any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i'm having the same problem, N1 CM7.0.3 ROM
I've wiped the cache and data on the Maps APP, still having the same problem.
Any help
I sometimes get this issue
I fix it by turning off the GPS, waiting till the GPS icon disappears from the notification bar, then turn on the GPS again. and it gets a GPS lock right away.
one method which helps me to troubleshoot GPS in N1 is to install the free apps GPS status. under sub-menus tools, manage A-GPS state, there is the option to reset GPS data (essentially a reboot of GPS w/o powering off the phone). often when i completed that procedure, and downloaded new GPS assistance data (via wifi, should take no time), GPS lock-on could be achieved within a minute provided i'm outdoor or near window. if GPS lock-on can be achieved with GPS status, then, in theory, the same can be achieved in google map or in car mode. if google map still can lock on to the GPS signals, then i may get another google apps package and flash it into the phone again.
i do come across some custom roms in which GPS function has become crippled, but CM7.0.3 is NOT one of them.

[Q] [SOLVED] GPS suddenly stopped locking, ideas?

I have a rooted SGS, but with the official ROM 2.2 (unfortunately, until the EUR 2.3.3 official rolls out for my area. I always had extremely slow GPS locks, even worse compared to the Magic and ZTE Blade I had. I had never modified the NTP server, but anyway this affects fix time only if you are connected to the internet.
2 days my GPS went off. Specifically, launching an application such as igo does makes the satellite icon in the status bar flash, indicating that it tries acquire a GPS fix. And then the icon ... disappears! First time I see something like that. Closing and reopening a navigation application, the icon now does not appear at all, as if GPS is totally disabled. But the application does not complain about lack of GPS functionality!
The only way to make the GPS icon to appear is to reboot and restart a GPS-using application. Then the icon disappears again. This happens with Google Maps, iGo, Navigon.
Running GPS Status is a bit different. In this case, the GPS icon remains flashing as long as the application remains active. But no fix whatsoever is achieved... I have tried to Reset A-GPS data and download new data into it. Nothing.
Relating what can be changed on the mobile, I remembered that just upgraded the version of google maps sometime a few days ago and I enabled caching to be able to off-line browse maps. Thinking that this could somehow be the culprit, I disabled offline browsing and rebooted again. Problem persists. Even tried changing the SUPL server, as mentioned in http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/...air-and-froyo/
Any ideas on what might be wrong here. The phone is in perfect condition, no crashes, NOTHING! It is within the guarantee period, but I'd hate returning it. Any info will be appreciated.
Phone firmware is given in my signature. This phone is, and has been, running official 2.2 out of the box. No custom firmwares on it ever.
It was that damned Google Maps update after all! I stumbled into this: http://www.google.ru/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=53e25a0d053f4eeb&hl=en
Uninstalled (the updates over the stock) Google Maps and presto: locked just fine!
Case solved

GSM/Cell location is stuck, GPS works fine

I've been on official Resurrection Remix, when about a month ago I visited a place I never travel even nearby. I set navigation, got there. I went back by memory, so it was the last position of navigation.
Now everytime I don't have GPS fix, it shows I am on the exact spot I navigated to. When I go out, get GPS fix, it shows my real position and all navigation works (I tried yesterday, to see if it would at least stick to another location, but it didn't).
The problem survived clean flash of unofficial RR by Luis - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi.../unofficial-resurrection-remix-5-8-5-t3706456 - with Titanium Backup restore (only user apps+data), which leads me to the conclusion it's either problem in some user app, or it's stuck on Google account. I tried to disable and delete whole Google Location history, no change. Changing account in maps, no change. I'm out of ideas except for complete wipe, but I don't have much time to experiment like that.
Could someone please point me to anything I could wipe (some user app that keeps the last location) or how to filter adb logcat to get some useful data? I tried googling, but I probably don't know what exactly to search for. Thanks in advance.
Update: I tried app Network Cell Info Lite, on LTE it shows Cell Location not found and shows no neighbors (cell towers I presume). When I disabled LTE (in *#*#4636#*#*) and left only GSM, I got more neighbors and after a while the right location. When I turn LTE on again, it jumps back to the wrong location almost immediately.

My P20pro can't find satellites

Bought my P20 Pro from Amazon 1 month ago. At first, the GPS function was ok, but after installing some apps it stopped working. Have tried restarting, erasing all data, and countless apps to try to fix it. Even took it to Huawei support where they can't seem to find a problem. When I try to use Waze or Google maps, the legend "no GPS signal, showing approximate location" shows up, even when I'm not inside a building.
When I downloaded a satellite search, no satellite shows up. I'm going crazy!
You are using any case? Because I have a case that when I use.. My phone can't find any satellite
Yes! Took of case multiple times, nothing changed.
