when i try to uodate the DREAIMG file it just says ''Update Terminated UPDATE FAIL''
i cant access recovery, or console, and my computer refuses to run adb.. :/ PLEASE HELP!!

Did you try downloading the dreaimg.nbh file again? Perhaps it was corrupted? Also, you did try to flash it from bootloader, right?

have you tried booting normally? and yeah, this is in the wrong section.

I responded to your other thread in the QA section (which is where it belongs).
You should try giving us more than 15 minutes before deciding that your problems are worth more than other people's and posting a second thread in this section. 7:30pm on a Wednesday night...? Yeah, people have families that they're with.

I'm actually not a dev..the most I've done is helped test out some ROMs before release or to test fixes for some problems.
Anyway, did the flash work this time?

Hey I have the same problem. Even if you do re-download the DREAIMG.nbh how could I get it onto my phone? I can't get the phone connected to my computer through the USB at all. Is there anyway at all to reverse this process? I've read that the Serial should read Serial0 unplugged and then SerialUSB when it's plugged in. But mine just stays Serial0. I'm on whits end, I don't know what to do or where to go. Could someone please help?

Also when I take out the battery and put it back in, the key board has to be open first before i turn it on to even get to the RUUNBH screen. When it's closed and I turn it on it just stays black and doesn't do anything. Do I just need to get a new phone? Would it be better to go to a T-Mobile store or just call technical support and have them send a new one?

Put the sd card into your pc(card reader), make sure its fat32 then put dreaimg.nbh file onto your sd card...
Simple right? Easier than driving in water.

T-Mobile G1 Just keeps Rebooting
Hi there i have a similar problem.
I was given a T-Mobile G1 but it just keeps rebooting.
It wont do a hard reset,
I have tried to reflash with DREAIMG.NBH (RC7) from microsd card Fat 32,
with this sequence & this is what happens
Press camera button while holding it down breifley press power button and release it, while still holding camera button.
Phone then starts into bootloader
then i release camera button
phone then shows white screen with
loading...
then
checking...
then above checking... in red numbers
0058002
then phone returns to bootloader.
I have attached a image of my bootloader can you tell me if the info on it is ok?
What does EVT1 etc etc etc mean?
And how to get this phone up & running again....Thanks....

The "EVT1 stuff" is just device info; like device name, 32B=board type, Radio=version of the Radio that connects you to the network.
I am concerned because the EVT1 should read DREA100 or DREA110. I think whoever gave it to you attempted something crazy and somehow put the wrong SPL on it. Download the correct SPL HERE and replace it then go from there. That should do the trick.

Hi mate thx for the advice.
I downloaded G1OrigBootloader_nocheck from your link and renamed to update.zip as the instructions suggested.
Made sure microsd is Fat32 copied update.zip to it.
Inserted into G1 put the battery back in.
Held down Home Button and Power Button for about 2 mins but all i get on the screen is BLACK SCREEN!!!! grrrr....
So it also seems i cant get in to Recovery Console either.
Is there another way to replace the SPL?

Search, read and at minimum, provide us with some useful information!
How are we supposed to know what went wrong and where? I'm afraid 3 incomplete sentences and a funny ascii face isn't going to be enough to help you.
My apologies.....
Ok, I had just partitioned my SD card, and had put SPL on it in the fat32 part as update. Restarted the phone and installed the SPL. After that the phone restarted and now im stuck at splash. Tried both recovery methods...got nothing. I have a card reader, so i took the sd card, re-formatted it back to original state, and loaded the SPL and tried the PWR+Home/Cam and still nothing

Did you make sure you have a PVT board? Cause if you had a DVT-1 or DVT-2 board you're prob out of luck. You could have told by powering on with PWR + Camera, not that it helps you out any now...
Like you said, prolly doesnt help me now.....
Do a search for the HTC Dream repair guide in the Dev forum. Give it a look and you will notice in the pdf their is a link that takes you to an HTC webpage. Gain access to that page and you may be able to grab a copy of the much sought after Diagnostic Prog that HTC uses to trouble shoot.
The trouble is you need a user/pass to get the prog, and i havent been able to find one anywhere that still works. The search continues...
when you say power + camera does nothing...does it not turn on, or what exactly happens?
Turns on fine, just goes to the splash screen and thats it. I cant use any of the PWR+ commands
I can hold the 2 buttons for 15 minutes but the phone just sits at the splash screen

AH! Try hitting Alt+L and going to the recovery console. The splash screen times out after a while, and when it gives you the error message, Alt+L it, and maybe that will help.

Yeah, I hate to break it to you but you should have done a bit more reading before doing anything. There's tons of posts of people that bricked their phone that exact way. Either way, you're kind of stuck. There's a thread in the development forum about fixing the spl and phones bricked by H's SPL... you may want to read through that.
Hopefully you'll spend a little more time reading before jumping in next time. oh well, hind sight's 20/20 right?
AFAIK, there are no Pwr+Cam options...if it finds an image it flashes it.
OK, so I had some issues last week, and this is what I did...download the RC29.nbh (I believe the filename is DREAIMG.nbh...it was in the RC29 Zip file I downloaded.)...re-partition your SD card as fat32 using a windows computer (I tried a mac, and it did not work, but Linux seemed to...to be safe, just use windows.) Once it is partitioned as 1 partition, format it as fat32. Put the RC29 image on it, and do the power+cam boot up...it should boot up, and flash it back to RC29.
It is important that it be the right partition type, and only 1 partition.
Give it a shot, even if you have tried before...it took me a few tries to get all the info right.
Keys are (again): 1 partition that is fat32, and has the DREAIMG.nbh

Yessir, im on it!
From the sounds of it, he didn't flash the radio first before the spl...watch this thread to see if a solution becomes available.
Or you can call T-Mobile and ***** till they send you a new unit =P
which SPL? I just did my wifes phone with hardSPL, and flashed the radio after putting the SPL on...I didn't have any problems...it looks like the brick only happens on some new SPL...but to be honest, I can't keep up with all the builds that are out there, I am just sticking with the JF builds.
mm0
HardSPL i believe. Tried the solutions, still nothing
no idea then. When you boot with the power+home combo, what do you see then?
Also, could you give us a rundown of what is on the screen when you do the power+camera combo...also, what color is the screen (usually gray or rainbow).

I dont get anything but the "Tmobile-G1" splash screen thats it. No more, no less....

did I bricked the phone?

So, my husband wanted his firmware changed.... I made everything I did for my phone and everything was smooth. I mean I checked it is a pvt phone and that the radio is the 2.22.19.26I, so the last one.
I flashed the haykuro SPL downloaded from here putting it as update.zip in the sd, and doing alt+s in recovery mode. when the phone restrts it staks for minutes on the first g1 screen, and the only way to go out is to pull the battery out.
so what's appened? what I should do?
please help me!

Wrong sub-forum...your question belongs in the "Q&A" sub-forum!!!
Also your question has been answered a hundred times..."Please SEARCH before starting a new thread"!
Can you boot into recovery?
if you cannot boot into recovery holding home and end or camera and end with looping g1 logo, yes you are bricked.
If you can go back into recovery in any way shape or form, then no you aren't bricked.

Who in the hell made you moderator. Of 42 posts, you will be absolutely amazed how much space you are taking up telling others to SEARCH. Have a looky here
Anyway, knock it off with the "search you fool" crap; leave the moderating to the moderators. At least if you're gonna show your butt, leave a constructive post wherein the confused member can find the help and read the rules.
Here, let me leave you an example.

Do you think it might be possible that XDA is going to get people who think they can just pop on and ask questions without following board protocol? Of course there will be. You don't have to insult each and every one....and yes, flaming is insulting.

G1 stuck at G1 screen

Started to root the phone went back to 1.5, worked fine, applied FlashRec.apk and Amon Ra’s Recovery Image installed all that correctly worked fine. Went to install a new radio and spl and applied spl and when i go to start the phone it gets stuck at the G1 boot screen. Tried to book into recovery mode nothing happens , tried to hard & soft reset nothing happens. Phone just stays stuck at the G1 left it on for an hour and still nothing. Please help in any way or ask for more info if need.
Thanks in advance.
if you flashed the danger spl before flashing the new radio, your phone got permanent brick and cannot be solved without JTAG or changing the motherboard.
OK- I have the same problem, except I flashed the wrong radio.
(I thought I needed to update it for a different ROM, but.)
No fastboot, no recovery-- If I hold down the trackball, the screen wont come on, but the blue LED does. Is that useful to me at all??
Can JTAG help me? or is there another way?
I was reading about mtty-- but i'm not sure if that'll work for my G1.
Anything to unbrick this--- I really need my phone for finals week which started to-day.

MTTY is just a program to talk to the serial port; it is actually part of the JTAG solution as well .. but as mentioned it will not help you at this point in time.

JTAG.. but unless you live near me or one of the very very few others who are set up for jtag hacks.. and that person is confident enough not to make the main board of the phone one big solder blob [I am but I'm not sure if some of the others I've heard poke JTAG are as confident].. it will take you a large chunk of time to learn what is needed to make it work.. or longer than the finals in the mail.
Thus I recommend.. get a cheap phone at the stand at the mall.. and pass your finals before worrying about the brick.
Since everyone who has caused a brick has either (1) not properly followed the directions and warnings.. or (2) did something in haste missing an important step; it will be no good to race it together during finals.
this dream was sent to my friend as a replacement

so i formatted his sdcard, got the DREAIMG.nbh put it on his sdcard, entered into fastboot, and it ran the install (rainbow screen) nothing was happening from there before i copied the DREAIMG.nbh to it, so at least this installed successfully)

Odd, the nbh files usually flash a full system.. thus while they might leave you with a rom you don't wish to have they usually will boot afterwards. You did let it fully flash all the partitions correct?
What nbh did you find/flash?
And. Can you still enter the spl or recovery.

yeah i dont know, all i know is i can ONLY getinto the bootloader, which is the ORIGINAL bootloader (0.95.0000)
what can i do with this thing?
what do i flash to it (cause it aint the RC29 DREAIMG.nbh)?
i refuse to lose
well only bootloader means nothing. you cold be getting a bad .nbh and the recovery partition could have something nasty on it. both of those not working doesn't automatically make it a brick. a working bootloader says everything is ok.
set up fastboot and fastboot a new recovery image.
then see if your recovery works. next time i don't respond, feel free to pm me again, lol. i really have a hard time keeping up with where i post.
of course: you can also fastboot a new spl:
http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/downloads/list?q=label:SPL
I recommend:
EngBootloader_v2_NoSigCheck.zip
That way you don't have to mess with that nasty danger spl and then you actually will be bricked.

non-rooted boot loop on RC-29 :/

UPDATE: from my research, a true brick means I could not get into bootloader. Is this true or not? Because I can. I just can't get into recovery. Tried RC-30 DREAIMG.nbh, it loaded and all, but... still stuck at the G1 screen. Going to flash back to RC-29 when I get home, not that it'll help anything.
Hello friends!
So I got a G1 from someone that was stuck on the G1 boot screen. It is now my phone. (NOT the one in my sig, this is now my "second/spare" G1).
All I know about the phone is that it is not rooted and there is NO water damage. the sticker is white.
I downloading DREAIMG.nbh and at first it was giving me trouble CAMERA+POWER buttons into bootloader rainbow screen would not detect the image! After a few reformats and retries, bootloader will see the image and will flash update DREAIMG.nbh.
However I am STILL stuck at the boot screen after doing this! I could have sworn this would let me boot the phone up normally.
I've let it sit and try to load. I'm currently going to just let it sit forever now to see what might "magically" happen.
I can't get into anything else home+power or home+menu (safe mode I'm told).
On the bootloader screen it reads:
DREA100 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-1.22.12.29
Sep 2 2008
Serial0
Note: I have a powerPC mac...so no sdk... I could try to set it up if needed on the home's mac mini or at work in the office on the windows xp.
My goal:
get it out of this bootloop and ROOT it. (hopeful smiley)
Thank you all in advance for your time and help!
If you can't even get into recovery (home+power) it may be possible that the "someone" who gave you the G1 gave you a bricked one. There is little you can do if you can't get into recovery and the phone won't even boot with DREAIMG.nbh
Which screen are you stuck at after you flash DREAIMG.nbh? The G1 screen or the splash image screen?

that looks fun... well I'm off to read everything there... if anyone else has any further info please share! thanks
So I've been reading and looking everywhere.... my possible solution for now.... is to find a cracked screen/broken G1 with a good motherboard and switch them out. I have the service manual. hmmm.... not the fix I wanted though...
The thing that gets me is that I can go into the bootloader and flash DREAIMG.NBH
If this was a true brick, I should not be able to do that, should I? Is there any other file via bootloader that I can try to install, because DEAIMG.nbh is the only one I know of, and maybe just maybe, if there was something else to try,
then that might get this phone working?
If you have to swap out the board, I have a cracked screen bronze G1 that I bought a few months ago to test out new ROM's on. I'm pretty much done with it and would be willing to part with it. PM me if you're interested.

HELP!! May have Seriously Messed up phone...

(Rogers HTC Dream)
Ok, so, i know this sounds ridiculous, and you may find yourself asking "WTF Was He Thinking?!?!?" But, was a late night, and i was quite possibly half asleep lol...
Ok, so, long story short, i have tried possibly every rom for the Rogers Dream, and majority of them didn't work for me, or atleast, if they did, not that well.... Cyanogenmod 6 worked ok, although it started to get slow pretty fast :/ Anyways, i had previously rooted and flashed my dream with the steps provided on cyanogen's wiki, but i had never updated the kernel or anything, so, i came to the conclusion that it was possibly my kernel that was un-allowing me to run most roms, so i decided to update my kernel using the steps here
"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139"
Everything went well, kernel updated, wiped everything, except i accidently deleted my recovery.....but thought, no problem, i'll just follow the instructions on the thread, no biggie.....it said to download the "orange-1.58.73.2.nbh" and flash that......BUT... I Should have known that the Orange one was the one for T-Mobile!! But out of stupidity i didn't realize it and flashed it!! Now my phone won't boot up or Anything :/ when i try to boot into recovery OR Hboot, it shows the t-mobile startup flash, then shows an error with a triangle and a yellow exclamation in the middle, with a phone on it's side beside it!! :S
Did i completely mess up my phone?.... Someone please help!! x.x
I got a Rogers dream and I just push amonRA with adb. As for the exclamation screen, I think there is a key combo to bypass it. Something like volume up and power at the same time. I can't remember now the exact combination. Took a lot of Googling to find it, and if I remember correctly the dream has a different combo than the tmo did. But with this nexus one my memory has faded.
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
The orange nbh is orange not t-mob..
But has a eng spl so recovery is easy.. head over to my 2708+ radio thread and flash that, a 2708+ rom (most new roms support it and older ones the kernel in that thread will fix it.
Rogers if they are your carrier may cut wireless data there is a e911 wavier form to get around this search for it or ask the support person if they cut your data for detasils.
The good thing about using the 2708+ radio/kernel is extra ram, and it works on the rogers dream the same way as the non rogers dream thus you can ask more people to help support you with 2708+
Thanks for the reply guys,

thanks for replying, would had posted in your thread but didn't want to jam it full of even more posts of someone needing help lol...
as for your reply, it was after i had flashed the orange nbh that i was getting the t-mobile splash :S thus i assumed it was t-mobile.... but, as for flashing anything, i can't....when i try to boot phone in hboot or recovery, i get the error i previously mentioned, and when i normal boot, i can only get to the screen that says to plz insert sim card, and it won't let me pass that screen :S....that's where im stuck.....i tried using the usb cord to access adb through it, but on the comp it says there are no adb devices, i'm assuming it's because i can't get past the "no sim card" screen to enable debugging ..... Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
I'm going to hope you are doing something silly since your description indicates no problem with the phone.

That /!\ screen *is* recovery, alt+L will show you additional options.. but in its self its not that useful.

I don't recall if adb is enabled by default on the orange rom; regardless this is the rom. (putting a sim card active or not in the phone may let you get further however ought not be necessary )
So either you got so anoyed at your phone you did phisical damage to it or you are attempting to enter HBOOT/Fastboot incorrectly.
Powering on when holding 'camera' is supposed to always bring you to the HBOOT screen; then pressing send or back as prompted will let you to the Fastboot screen (don't re-flash the orange NBH, say no if it asks)
Alternatively either booting with send or back will go directly to HBOOT.. (The rogers [2000 series] dream uses Send while the t-mobile (100 series) users Back but some SPL only provide the back options regardless of dream model.. I don't recall about 1.42.2000 so you will want to try both)
In theory Home is the only button to send you to recovery.
Once in fastboot it ought to be a full featured fastboot and the normal 2708+ install instructions will work using fastboot on your PC

Ahh ok lol, i'd installed RA recovery when i first got the phone, so it was the only recovery screen i remembered ever seeing, thus why i was confused, but yah, hit alt+L and saw the options, but yah, not that many :/

Apparently was entering it wrong, i was used to using Home+Cam+End to enter hboot.....so that's my fault....

When i enter hboot, it looks like a friggin rainbow now lol....red, green, blue, and white bars as the background :/ and once in hboot, it says "Serial0" in the middle of the screen :S and when i plug it into the computer, i tried hitting both back, and send, and it makes the "Serial0" dissapear, but seems no matter what i do, it won't show the phone as a connected device in fastboot :S
Thanks again for replying soo quickly and all the help u've been giving me, any advice on where to go from here or getting it to enter fastboot?
What you are describing is not 1.42.2000.. but 0.95.0000.. or that its likely the Dreaimg you flashed was the t-mobile rc29 and not the orange nbh..
Rc29 can be flaky.. but there are two options
1) go to recovery, alt+l and wipe, put a sim card into the phone and root via telnet.. assuming you have the 1.x radio of rc29 follow the link to my 1.33.2003 spl then with that install 2708+ normally
2) if you still can't boot you will need to use/make a goldcard (if you don't already have one this may require finding a friend's phone to help make one) and this time flash the orange nbh *not* rc29
0.95.0000 will not let you flash a rogers nbh so there is no way to re-flash with out a goldcard.. otherwise I'd just have you flash the roger 911 patch and re-root from there..
hey if you are still getting that screen with the yellow triangle and '!' that means you have stock tmobile recovery with no rom lol can you try to press (alt+L) hold alt and press L should make a list pop up.. if it does than maybe you can still re root it so than it will read your sim... but im not sure if the rogers G1 has and different software so it could possibly make it worse.. lol just a suggestion

Hboot is 0.95.0000
Radio is 2.22.19.26I
So i'm guessing it is the rc29 And i'm not too sure what a gold card is? :S

info again is
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
Background:
Accidently wiped rogers rom + flashed t-mobile rom, and since then,
Hboot says "Serial 0" and won't allow me to flash any images, phone doesnt have a recovery, will boot up now, but only to the android set-up process which i can't continue with because it won't accept my rogers sim card, despite the fact i unlocked the phone before all this happened :/ so i can't sign in to or create a google account. Have attempted every bypass to get past it with no success. Obviously since i can't get past it i have no access to adb...
Please help
Just out of my curiousity, got download the orange nbh file (make sure that it marked orange).
Format your SD card to FAT and put the nbh file in the root of your SD card.
put the SD card in your G1.
Boot up with camera+power and flash it.
See if that work.

Thank you for your response, unfortunately i have tried that countless times with no luck it says it cannot read or flash or something, i forget what it says Exactly but it wouldn't allow it x.x any other suggestions?
I'm Really desperate x.x and i have been having the crappiest luck lately. I bought a phone off kijiji today, spent 3 hours trying to meet up with the guy to buy it, then when i did get it (after all the running around) i took it to "The Source" to get it activated in my name , and after 4 hours (5pm-9pm) they finally said they tried everything but couldn't do it because the phone is registered to someone with a contract that has a suspended account do to owing an outstanding amount of money!!
At this point, when you boot up the phone. What do you see?

It loads up to the setup screen, in which i cannot bypass...i have tried with another active (with data) rogers sim, telus sim, and virgin mobile sim card, but none of them will work....and like i previously mentioned, i unlocked the phone prior to all this happening :S
OK! I am not sure why it will not let you activate your phone. But don't worry about that ATM.
Let try activate your G1 over wifi. Follow the instruction from the link below.
