You can follow this thread. See the steps at the end of the post.
I'm not sure what you mean by locked again though. As long as you install the stock rom, radio and spl the phone is back in it's original condition unless you did a security unlock of the phone of course, in which case I believe that is irreversible. If you just used uspl or hspl to flash, there is no need to "lock" the device again.

Actually you can reverse security unlock. cmonex has a re-security locker on her site, link here.
CID unlocking can also be undone (see the Hard SPL thread).
SIM unlocking, won't affect the warranty

Thanks m8, never too old to learn something new, and that on your 5,000th post.

How can I tell if my CID has been unlocked?

I used lokiwiz02b to unlock? both the SID and CID. The device restarted during both installations like it should have.
I read about how to check if the SID is unlocked by using a SIM card from another network but what about the CID?
Thank for any help.

assuming you already flashed up to a 2.xx carrier rom, you can attempt to flash a different carrier's rom or any 2.xx custom rom here to see if it changes. If it errors out or completes but nothing changes then you are not CID unlocked.
Thank you. Yeah, I followed "How to fllsh a Wizard..." tutorial up to G4.6 assuming it was unlocked. I tried Xplorer 1.1 (originally getting error 300) but then updated the romupdateutility.exe. After the install finished i just had the 3 Color bootloader screen.

woah woah woah... You have a G4... G4's aren't CID Unlocked unless you have paid to have this done from imei-check.co.uk . You also have to be careful (if you don't know this already) what roms you flash. Don't just go and flash another carrier's rom on a G4 or you could (will?) wind up with a brick.
So on a G4, you will either have to pay to get CID Unlocked or you use ShellTool to do upgrades (you have to make sure you remove the IPL/SPL in roms before upgrading).

yeah, you didn't have that signature in your post when I replied originally. You have a G4. be very careful which roms you flash. Flashing IPL/SPL into a G4 will brick it. Lokiwiz won't CID unlock a G4. As MFrazzz has said the only known way to CID unlock a G4 is to pay a website for it (imei-unlockers or something like that.)
I forgot to put this in my post earlier... Please use this to learn to flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
Since we now know you have a G4, just start at G4.1 and have fun (but be careful).

Use my tool (check signature) that has an option to read the CID status...

Is there a hard spl flash for the Wizard? I haven't been spending much time here but the only place I have seen Hard SPL is on the Hermes forums. If this is where you have seen it from you should NOT attempt to flash this to your Wizard they are more different internally than they are externally.

Unfortunately there is no HardSPL nor SSPL for Wizard
When it came out first time i asked the developer to give me hints so that i could try to port it to Wizard and he said there was a team working on that...and that was months ago
So no, G4 devices can't be CID unlocked for free.

Paid CID unlock

Just out of curiosity:
If I buy unlock code from say IMEI Check and CID unlock my device, would I ever need to run Hard SPL or Soft SPL to upgrade/downgrade my Trinity? Then going forward, can I just run any custom/cooked/original ROMs without worrying (since my device is permanently unlocked)? Please don't ask me why I want to pay for this when there are so many free alternatives - I don't know the answer
Last but not least, which method of unlocking preserves the warranty? Can the device be locked back just in case I need to take it to service?
Thank you! (I know these qns have been answered many times in this forum, but I just want to reassure myself that I got it all correctly)
As far as I know, IMEI-Check will completely unlock the device, allowing ROM upgrading etc without the need for additional hard SPL or softSPL.
Unlocking in itself doesn't affect the warranty, so you could simply use IMEI check to unlock for use of another SIM card. Further than that, flashing a new, unofficial Radio or OS ROM will technically invalidate the warranty. Most of the free unlockers actually work by flashing the Radio ROM, so in that case IMEI Check is safer as it retains the original ROM.
Once unlocked, there is no way to relock a device, but as long as you have the Operators own ROM in place, the lock status won't be looked at.

Yes, you'll also need to use SSPL / HardSPL if you plan to flash cooked roms (unsigned) in NBH format using the RUU updater.
You'll not need to use SSPL / HardSPL if you plan to flash shipped official ROMs (signed) using the RUU updater or if you you extract the *.nb files from the NBH upgrade and flash from mtty using LNB command in imei-check's MFG bootloader (which doesn't check signatures). You won't be able to flash unsigned code with the standard RUU Updater or SD card using imei-check's bootloader.

Original roms yes, you can flash them without worrying, but you'll have to re-run imei-check's unlocker everytime you want to flash your device with an original rom not matching your CID as CID unlock is not permanent (it disappears when you flash the radio).
As for custom/cooked roms, no, you'll have to worry about a) using HardSPL/SSPL or extracting the *.nb from NBH and flash from mtty, as it's the only way to flash unsigned code with imei-check's bootloader.

- imei check, as long as you replace the bootloader with a standard one before returning your device
- free unlocker, as long as you don't check the "superCID" option when you run it and you flash a standard radio back into it after SIM unlocking.

Depending on why you have to take it to service, but basically yes if it's working.

It will SIM unlock, but the CID unlock will only stay as long as you don't replace the RADIO after unlocking. If you flash another radio, then you'll need to re-run imei-check's unlocker again to have it CID unlocked again. And remember that for flashing a cooked rom you don't just need a CID unlocked device, but also need to bypass signature checking.

But it replaces the SPL on the device by a 1.01MFG SPL, so the warranty is technically void. And it also modifies the radio, but keeps the existing version.

That's not true

That's true in most cases.

Thank you very much, pof! That's clear and exhaustive answer!

Explain HARD SPL vs CID unlock

I want to install WM6 on my trinity and starting from zero:
So far I gathered that I either need to CID unlock or install HARD SPL.
If above is true what are the advantages/disadvantages one over another?
Does it make sense to do a superCID unlock and then install HARD SPL?
Your device has a specific Carrier ID, which only allows you to install official ROMs from that carrier.. CID unlock allows you to install ROMs from any carrier. As far as i knew, CID unlock voids your warranty and *i think* is not reversible (correct me if i'm wrong someone)..
Hard-SPL gives you the same benefits as a CID unlock, allowing you to flash unsigned ROMs to your device. However, it is reversible, and Hard-SPL protects you in case of a bad flash (corrupted image or whatever) allowing your device to remain in bootloader rather than bricking forever.
I recommend hard-spl, but if you've CID unlocked then you should still use hard-spl for the protection it gives..
for flashing instructions you can check out my website (in my signature)
Hi,
Hi have a HTC p3600 CID locked if I HARD SPL the new WM6 roms will I be able to install default HTC WM5 roms ?!
Thank you!
yeah you can
not strictly true:
if you CID unlock, you will be able to flash any official HTC ROMs to the device.
with Hard-SPL, you will also be able to flash custom ROMs since the signature check is patched to always return true.
Thanks for the help - good trinityguide for newbies. I just printed and will be using it.

ah i see.. so CID unlock still doesn't allow you to flash custom roms?

Re-locking a 8125

Sorry if this is first grade material, I've only been working with PDA's for a matter of weeks.
I've gone over the CID/SIM unlocking threads, and I tried using WizBackup to backup before my first attempt at upgrading. Unfortunately my motherboard seems to have a conflict with the program and I can't backup. So my question is, If I unlock, then after upgrading decide to put it back to stock and use the official Cingular 2.25 rom will that lock the CID/SIM?
The only reason I ask this is incase I ever have to send it in for repairs from the occasional drop or something off the wall like that. Oh, not sure if it even pertains to this question or not, but I have a G3 phone.
Thanks in advanced,
Joe

No ! once SIM/CID unlocked,it'll remain unlocked,it won't get SIM/CID locked again if you reflash the official Cingular 2.25.But yes,if you want to re lock it,this can be done by flashing back the CID Lock_backup.bin code through lokiwiz02b,which will be generated at the time you'll SIM/CID unlock it with lokiwiz02b tool.you must save that lock_backup.bin,in order to re lock your phone and flash back the official cingular rom,it'll be back to it's official default status.
Cheers !
