so i'm new to Android, i just flashed my 32B device (mytouch3g) with a new rom
this rom did not include the stock IM app that uses SMS- is there a way i can install the orignal app?
any apk's i've found have not been for the sapphire and do not install..
I do not have a data plan, but i wouldn't mind having the stock client.
for reference: the rom i'm running is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=589345 and i'm on the ATT US network. my previous HTC device was winmo.

any1 know how to install java files from computer
i downloaded alot of files from getjar.com but i can install but when i open it gives me error can you guys help me please
or does aria supports java or not??
i think the aria only installs from .apk files.
what ?? but my htc tattoo had a java application and you can install all javas apps why not in this one??
on the htc spec sheet for the aria, it says it is java-enabled, but to what extent? i'm not sure. i've never tried to install a .jar file onto it.
there is an application in the market called "Java/J2ME Runner" by Netmite, which claims to "Run Java/j2ME/MIDP NATIVELY." perhaps that would do the trick?
nop its not allowing its says its been blocked
is there any other rom that will allow me ???
i hate this att stupid rom

are you trying to do this on the stock at&t rom that ships with the phone? i don't imagine you'll have much, if any, luck there.
i'd suggest installing attn1s CM6-FroYo rom and trying it again. if you do like the sense ui though, you could try attn1s liberated aria rom.
You should tell us the exact error you're getting and we'll better be able to answer your question. Your last post said it was being blocked. The stock ROM doesn't allow any apps to be installed outside of the marketplace regardless of what type. So unless you've rooted your phone and used one of the sideloading hacks (search the Aria forums for "side loading") then you won't be able to do this. It's not that the phone can't, but the software is getting in the way.
im trying to install java apps but att rom blocks it soo i was thinking of installing those apps without rooting but anyway i will have to rooted to install these apps
attns1 froyo doesnt support camera yet soo i might wait for that or install librated aria rom
thanks all pplz for answering and helping

Hi Everyone,
Just heard that the latest 2.2 is out from Google Android. This is what shows me in Settings > About Phone of my white HTC Dream (ROGERS - Canada):
Model - HTC Dream
Firmware version - 2.1-update1
Mod version - CyanogenMod-5.0.7-DS
Build Number - EPE54B
1- Since this is rooted and runs Cyanogen mod already, I should be able to do this upgrade easily right?
2- I don't want to loose data or contacts when I do this upgrade. What should I do to not loose my contacts again?
3- I am on Rogers - Canada and phone comes from them so I don't want to brick it as I know there is another Radio version for it. Please advise accordingly.
4- Why on earth doesn't the CM-updater from Cyanogen shows me a latest mod of 4.x while I have 5.x already running? Why can't I upgrade everything through the CM-updater?
Thanks
Anser for Qs(#2) its Google an you can never lose your Contact info its sync in bro

Hi everybody, im now on darky's rom 9.5 but planning to try the newly released gingerbrad rom for galaxy s to see how this one's working and stuff, but i really really need some good ad-hoc support, and it's the only reason im not trying it yet, so is there any ways to get ad-hoc enabled for this device and the new rom? i also need some security like WEP or something for it, so....?
BY THE WAY:
the rom im planning to try is:
pda: xwjvb
modem:xxjvk
csc:neejv3

the other thing ive been wondering is: can i somehows backup my market apps, in a way that i can still be able to update them on market without having to reinstall them? cuz its a very hard thing you know.... lol
A while back I rooted my G1 which was running 1.6 and I successfully rooted and installed cyanogenmod. I wasn't impressed with the battery life so I decided to switch roms. I did something wrong and my phone pretty much reverted back to unrooted Android stock 1.0. That was a while back and I have been pretty much hanging with it since. I could do generic things such as send and receive calls, send text messages, play music off sd, etc., but I'm tempted to find a way to root my phone again and with a diff rom. Is there a way to do this with android version 1.0? Can I also do this without a data plan and just wifi?
Here are the specs for my G1 if anything:
Firmware Version: 1.0
Baseband Version: 62.33.20.08H_1.22.12.29
Kernel Version: 2.6.25-01843-gfea26b0 [email protected] #6
Build number: kila-user 1.0 TC4-RC29 115247 ota-rel-keys, release keys
forget it. I got cyanogenmod up and running. Close thread.
Before this is closed, try out the Froyo for Trout rom. Its stable, and faster than CM. Really recommend this.
Anything will be better off than CM (that from my experieces) But the new CM (XDA Mod) is promissing.
@ TheIneffable - I would suggest (if you still wants to use CM) to look at [ROM] NameLessFroyo (CyanogenMod variant) by NLJ or [ROM][2.3.7 GB][18.10.11] BananaBread v1.2 DS +cMTD(Based on CM 7.1) by banana4444.
But if you would like to try other ROM, I suggest [Rom][2.2.2 AOSP] DREAMteam Froyo v1.9 "I'm hungry...." by DreamTeam (AKA:Green ROM Projects) or FroyoMelt (see my sig for link) also by DreamTeam (with Customization by ldrifta).

You wont lock the device with flashing the ROM. Close to stock ROM would be Badboys ROM.
Reminder - you asked this question in a wrong thread. It should go into Q&A section.
If you're using this for CDMA, I'd recommend the MIUI ROM. Despite being an iOS lookalike, that is the only ROM that will show you the signals separately for 1x and EVDO.

I rooted stock 5.0.2 and used Titanium Backup to remove everything stock that I don't have any use for. Messaging (use Hangouts) BlinkFeed (replaced with SLauncher) Music (replaced with CM 12 Music/added Viper4Android) Live Wallpapers (who even uses these things?!)...literally everything that has an icon in the app drawer gone. Exceptions are calculator, camera , calender, clock, downloads and gallery. Everything else I have a preferred replacement.
If you want even LESS to worry about, you can't go wrong with stock Cyanogenmod + Pico Gapps. No bogus/worthless features, no bloat, 4g connectivity, and best of all SUPER lightweight. The Nike of roms...just do it!
