Hi, i hope there wasnt a desinated thread specificallt for cyanmods rom troubleshooting, i looked but didnt see one.
MY problem is, on my G1 which is rooted and ive been running
1.5 firmware
62.50s.20.17h_2.22.19.261 baseband
2.6.27-00392-g8312baf [email protected] #2 kernel
build CRB43
I wanted to upgrade my phone and liked the cyno rom so i downloaded the latest version from the 2nd of december, got the 1.4 recovery, and the 1.6 update package.
Intalled all those acording to the wiki instructions. Installation appears to go just like planned.
When i restart my phone, while the android name is still displayed i hear the beep noise (for an alert) and i hit menu and i can see the locked screen menu pop up but it brings up TONS of android app failure force close boxes, for like process android, maps, im, etc etc, hit them over and over and they just keep poping up.
ran that fix_permissions line and that didnt help.
redid install again and same thing.
Question is, can i not go from JF 1.5 to the newest version of the cyan rom?
or do I HAVE to do a wipe before this?
any ideas?
I cant do anything in the phone, because the popup error messages respond over and over again.
Thanks a bunch! love the support for these phones.
No you can not.
You need to install the signed dev dream zip file first.
Cyanogen can no longer package all the programs in his ROM.
Google got mad at him for it.
I can't find the link right this sec. But it's around here somewhere.
ohhhhh, ok, i read that story but i was under the impression what i downloaded had what i needed.
Ill search for that file you listed, and hopefully i can find some instructions too of how to load it.
thanks for an answer.
wait, to specify, these are the files i downloaded and installed.
signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-ota-14721
update-cm-4.2.7.1-signed
cm-recovery-1.4.img
Tried older 4.1.99 version. Same thing
"the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly" along with droid.phone, droid.process.acore, process.gaps.
would a wipe be the next try?
im not even sure what that does exactly is the only reason i havent tried that yet.
FRICK!
i decided to re-download all the files, and that didnt work.
Then i did a wipe, it opened up and asked for the sign in thing and i thought, hey its working!
then it gives me "app setup wizard (in process com.android.setupwizard) is not responding error.
woohoo, i guess i spoke too soon, i hit "wait" and it finished signing in and it seems to run fine right now, havent dinked around with it too much but so far so good.
Wipe feature FTMFW.

I have a rooted G1 and I am planning to install Cyanogen ROM, but what I definitely want is to have all google apps like GMail, GTalk, Market working.
Since these are no longer included in Cyanogen, I am interested in the way how to install them afterward.
Does it suffice if I just copy them HTC official 1.6 zip into "/system/app" directory, and which of these will work?
I am curious how those stock apps like GMail, GTalk, Calender etc. integrate if installed manually on a custom build such as Cyanogen and what are the eventual problems.
Follow the steps in the Cyanogen MOD wiki
It's just that easy
The method in which you perform you're first Cyanogen MOD install are designed to backup then restore the Google Apps for you
Stuck, but quite far on
Hi there,
I am in a similar boat, and it isn't that easy unfortunately - at least not for me.
I am running a UK O2 Desure with HBOOT 0.80.
I have successfully pushed the new recovery, and used it to install cyanogen 6, which runs great and is very elegant. Unfortunately, the google apps refuse to install. I have tried doing it thru ROM manager and manually.
When I do it manually in CM Recovery, the message I get is:
--Installing: SDCARD:gapps-hdpi-20100817-signed.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
I have had this happen with several downloads from the main site and mirrors, and I have verified the MD5 checksum.
I am not sure what I can do - is there a way to put them on from within cyanogen?
Thanks in advance for any help - I am so close but I feel so far away!!!
Your in the Dream section so I assume you have a dream.
You are using the wrong Gaps. you Need the MDPI not the HDPI.
I recommend the Google Apps (20100816)-tiny
Link is in the wiki above or direct download is

I have installed Last nightly build (46) and I can't install GoogleApps... In the log I see the next steps (something like this):

google is everybodys best friend
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Just get the google apps appropriate to your rom and wipe wipe wipe flash rom then flash gapps reboot system wait about 5-8 minutes before touchin

Hi, I had the same problem.
Yesterday I flashed 'update-cm-7.0.0-buzz-signed', played with it a bit and tried to flash from sdcard a file called 'gapps-gb-20110307-signed'.
The phone wouldn't boot, it would hang avter the logo arrow made 3 circles.
The same happened for 'gapps-passion-ERE27-2-signed'.
Today I flashed 'update-cm-7.0.0-buzz-signed' again, went to recovery, disables signature, flashed 'gapps-gb-20110307-signed' and it worked.
I had market and google account. Other paas like GMAIL I added manually.
Hope it helps.
I have the correct Gapps zip folder
download this Gapps file to your computer and copy and paste onto the root (paste on the device root not in any folder) on your device. boot into recovery mode and select "Flash from SD card". Then you'll see "gapps-mdpi-tiny-20101020-signed.zip" and Select it. Install and reboot and you should be good and see all your Google apps.
how do you flash all of these things?
newbie...sorry...please help!
thanks!

Look up above u. The instructions are there. If u need further. Instructions then let me know and I'll give u specific instructions.
Took me too long to figure this out, so in case it helps anyone else...
Make sure you do not let your browser unpack the .zip file when you download it, the signature will fail, it's a sig of the zip file package itself, not a checksum on the contents of the zip file.
Do you mean to past alone not in a folder when you say (paste on the device root not in any folder)
Ok, I have a phone with unlocked boot loader and FRF50 on it.
I put the original system recovery on (it had another prior to my ownership), but when the OTA update arrives, I get the following error:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/am.jar", "efccd3...:, ea...: )
E: Error in /cache/836691a1ca8b.signed-passion-FRF91-from-FRF50.836691a9.zip

Installation aborted...
Any ideas???
Thanks!!!
have you tried doing the line of updates start from frf50 then do frf83 then frf83b then do frf91
No, but based on the error it looks like it was trying to go from FR50 (installed) to FRF91 based on the update file name....
I'm not doing this manually, I'm letting the OTA update take care of it....
Can you point me to the update images? I'd like to get it to do OTA updates again, but if I have to do manual I guess I'll deal with it...
I wonder if it is a problem with the v 2E recovery?
Hey Pete,
I am getting the exact same issue with my nexus over here in Oz. I jumped on the early release and manually installed and now it wont update from frf50-frf91 OTA with the above error.
Very frustrating. I wondered if a wipe data/factory reset then wait for another OTA might work. I am unsure of exactly how much that will affect the phone though. I would rather not lose pictures and movies on the SD card and apps would be a PITA to get back on with my settings.
Maybe the manual updates might be a good place to start.
What version of the recovery do you have on your phone?

I am a bit of a noob Pete when it comes to Android and Nexus. I am not sure on the version or even how to check. Can you give me a hint ??
I have an un-rooted stock phone which I downloaded the FRF 50 update to when it first came out. I have made no other changes to it.
Give me a call centre skills based routing or call recording system and I'm your man, but smart phones are not in my skillset... I am trying to learn though. I just learnt what the ADB is.
you are on stock recovery and rom...and you wont anything in your SD card it doesnt wipe sdcard, only the phone setup, and if you have the backup feature on phoen you wont really lose the apps either
you can always do the #*#CHECKIN#*# on dial pad then go to settings and check for updates to see if you can get the OTA
i did it mainually it i couldnt wait any longer for the OTA.. so its not really hard to do it maunally lol
Even if I do that with my FRF50 phone, it just says success...
It took a week for the OTA update to reattempt an install. (and fail)
I did download a full signed FRF91 which I'm going to try applying soon, I hope after that OTA's will just be automatic...
Fixed at last !!!
I went through this forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717870
Which took me back to epe76. I then went to frf85b with a link further in the same thread and got an instant OTA update to frf91.
YAY FIXED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forgot to post here, I downloaded the complete FRF91 signed and just installed it. Contains everyting including radio.
I don't have the link anymore, but I recall it contained the words, "FRF91", "signed", "passion"....
That should get you there...
Hello, last night my phone started showing mistakes as "the process com.Google.process.gapps has stopped" or "Google process doesn't answer" without any reason.
I did make a complete wipe through my recovery TWRP (I wouldn't recommend this in base of this experience, CWM is better, really better:crying and it shows "wipe complete" but next to it shows the word "Failed" in red.
- I can turn the phone on sometimes but after the moto boot the screen stays black.
- I installed lollipop again and it says that every process doesn't answer.
- I can't reset the internal memory as I explained before
- I hardly ever used the root with Xposed.
- I have the bootloader unlocked from a while ago.
At least the phone runs the bootloader without problem.
Any solution?
I have never dropped my phone and I have it for months.
P.D. English, is not my native language sorry for the mistakes.
Not sure why it does, but it's been happening to me as well.
Try this:
Go to Settings, Apps, All, and clear data for Downloads. Then disable and enable Downloads. This seems to work.
Try restoring it to kitkat
try this link it works great it will restore your phone to stock kitkat GB version and you can latter update it OTA to lollipop. i have tried it and it works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/windows-tool-moto-g-2014-xt1068-dual-t2983295 as bootloader is working you will be able to restore i think. just download zip file extract it. it contains instructions too.
Thanks for help me, but still not working.
Actually, what I really need is to be able to delete everything in the phone, I can try changing the system date but I cannot delete the data of the phone.
I have an MTCD Joying head unit, and i've struggled from day 1 to get TT Go working on it.
I have a paid subscription and it is my preferred GPS software, so I was determined to get it working.
I tried many different ROMs but they were either buggy or unstable or just didn't let me install tomtom, or I could get a solid stable ROM but couldn't install Xposed etc.
As you probably might know, the problem usually lies with the huge serial number that these Chinese units have.
Anyway, without further ado, I will detail the process I used to make it all work properly using the latest stock firmware and some Xposed hacks.
I've ended up with a nice stable system, it's fast, it boots up in 14 seconds and I don't have any issues with bluetooth or laggyness or TT saying it can't connect etc.
Please make sure you use the EXACT versions that I used otherwise it might not work ( I had to try many permutations of different software to get this far ) .
I'm working from the latest Joying ROM dated 27th September please note it's an MTCD image, do NOT flash this if you have MTCB./MTCC.
So install the latest ROM dated 27th September, you can find it in post number 416 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...-factory-firmware-rk3188-mtcd-t3366561/page42
Once installed you need to root the image.
Go into factory settings, and put in the code *#hct#root# you should get back the message "ADB ROOT"
Once ADB rooted, install KingoRoot
Once rooted, go and install SuperSU from the play store but don't run it. Just install.
After that, download and run SuperSu-Me v6.7 and let it run and reboot.
After reboot, run super su and let it update the binary
After that, download Flashfire app from play store
Press the + button in flashfire and choose ZIP option and flash xposed-v86-sdk22-arm-custom-build-by-dsa-20160715.zip
Unit restarts
after restart, install xposed installer
after installing xposed installer, find and download mtcservice-2.28.apk
open mtcservice and select advanced options > serial number
set a 12 digit serial number of your own choosing
open xposed, choose modules , tick the checkbox for mtcservice
reboot
install TT go from APK
bingo. Job done.
I'm sorry I can't actually post links to xda-developers yet but I can make a .zip file and upload it with all the files required in it if anyone needs it but someone else will have to link to it for me.
Cheers best of luck.
Cool! Will try. Please make a zip with all files if you can.

link has everything EXCEPT for:
kingoroot (all the online storage places say it has a virus in it .. I got it from https://root-apk.kingoapp.com/kingoroot-download.htm .. download at your own risk.
tomtom apk , again google for the APK i'm using the latest one tomtom GPS navigation traffic 1.12 since i have a subscription, and it's a fremium app anyway i think it's fair for me to download the APK
also would like to point out that the dmcu.zip and dupdated.zip is the stock firmware and ROM for a Joying MTCD unit.
do not flash these if you don't know what you are doing or don't have an MTCD unit and dont flash dmcu.zip unless you also have a joying unit..
good luck let me know how it goes for you.
Wow finally a solution! I tried almost everything. This finally worked. Thanks for the great step by step guide!!!
Hi Lordxenu,
I have an Erisin ES3015V and want to install Tomtom, because like you, I ever loved it.
However, my unit is an Android 5.1.1 with 1024x600, and think Tomtom is not able to install into units with a display larger than 800x600. Is yours 1024x600 one or not? This is important for me, because I've tried to install from Play Store but it refuses to do so, and I don't exactly why: 1024x600? Serial number as you stated?
Before getting mad trying to install, I want to have things as clear as possible.
Regards!!!
Hi
Yes my unit is a 1024x600.
I could not install from play store either. Either due to serial number or due to it not recognising what device you have.
But installing via my guide above works. Mine is also 5.1.1
Hi,
thanks a lot for your description.
I think this would be a solution for my 4046GD.
I have
MCU-Version:
MTCD_KGL_V1.75.2
Aug 9 2916 09:18:18
Android 5.1.1
Kernel:
3.0.101+
[email protected] #66
Thu Aug 4 20:46:10 CEST 2016
Build-Number:
rk3188-userdebug 08082016.10:58:46
Will this also work on this device?
Hi Dobhi
Yes. It should work. Your unit is MTCD and 5.1.1
You can probably try it on your existing image without having to flash a new one as long as its stable and fast.
Otherwise flash the provided image (assuming your units screen is in 1024x600 if not find the same image for your resolution
Let me know how it goes for you.
Hey Lordxenu,
thanks for the fast reply.
I have to say that i'm a complete noob depending on android devices...
Yes the resolution is 1024x600.
But I still have some questions...
I downloaded you zip and i think the "dupdate.img" is the image file to install, am i correct?
I found a little how to doc from Malaysk image and i think will getting it done.
you wrote:
-Once installed you need to root the image.

-->Where can i find this zip? ---> Update: got it meanwhile.
-Unit restarts
-after restart, install xposed installer
--> New: Will this Installer be the by the exposed.zip?
-after installing xposed installer, find and download mtcservice-2.28.apk
--> Where i can find this...i googled it but sadly there where no clear hits
Update: I found the mtcservice-2.36D.apk, but as you said...its not the same as you mentioned.
-open mtcservice and select advanced options > serial number
-set a 12 digit serial number of your own choosing
-open xposed, choose modules , tick the checkbox for mtcservice
-reboot
-install TT go from APK
thanks for your help!!
I'm a little nervous about this...I will not kill my new toy
bg
Dohbi
Hi
Will try to answer your question.
Yes. dupdated.img is the actual android image to flash. Do NOT flash the dmcu.img because you do not have a Joying branded unit. So ONLY flash dupdated.img
-> Will there be a terminal or something like this, in the factory settings of the new image??
No. There's no terminal to use (if you really want you could install one) but doing the ADB root is done via the "factory" app.
When you start the factory app it asks you for a PIN code. This is where you type in *#hct#root# and press OK. No terminal needed.
>Where can i find this zip?
It's in the ZIP file I provided.
--> Where i can find this...i googled it but sadly there where no clear hits
Again, it's in the ZIP.
As long as your unit really is MTCD then you can't really brick it using my instructions.
If at the worst you somehow totally screwed the unit, you would just flash it again using the same or another image.
Usually you can also just choose the "wipe /data" option in the recovery menu and you will be back to having a fresh image installed etc.
There are lots of guides / tips etc on how to flash these units on the XDA developers forum so you can just have a read but to be honest, you don't need to know anything about it before you do it. I didn't
Hey Lordnexu,
i think there was a little hickup at the zip download.
i downloaded it again...now i have all files!
I will do this update tomorrow and keep you informed!
Thanks for your support!

Sadly there is a problem with super-sume... it stucks in "Stage 6 cleanup"
I wait almost 30 minutes but sadly nothing happens...
do you have any ideas?
Breaking News.
I have no idea how...
but it works.
I simply skip the Super-Sume Cleaning, and do all the rest...
Now my TT is running perfectly, with one little issue....the navigation voice is very silent an i don't get it louder.
Again...Thanks for your support!
Or you could just run Malaysk's 5.1.1 for MTCD and make it easy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...lopment/rom-malaysk-roms-mtcd-device-t3385309
Not sure why supersume stuck. It did take a while on mine and appear to freeze but eventually continued.
Did you do it on your stock ROM or on the ROM from my zip ? But I'm happy it now worked for you.
And yeah .. the Malaysk ROM ... well as I said in the original post... these ROMs were super buggy for me. Things like bluetooth not working properly, freezing up, slow, boot loops when enabling modules in Xposed... so I gave up after trying 5 different Malaysk ROMs.
If you look in the ROM threads for MTCD literally everyone says the stock ROMs are faster. If Malaysk ROM works for you then great, it didn't for me.
>If you look in the ROM threads for MTCD literally everyone says the stock ROMs are faster. If Malaysk ROM works for you then great, it didn't for me.
There was a rough patch there when Xposed was first being ported to 5.1.1, but it is all working now, and there are in fact several people making their own builds for MTCD 5.1.1 ROMs now which are fast and stable and much more streamlined than any stock roms now.
We have even developed a tool that you can use to build your OWN rom and chose what options you want in it for MTCD.
You might want to check them out again.
Ok, I made all installation step by step but TT GO still get no connection. I use an 1024x600 MTCD headunit with the small da_anton beta3 rom (already rooted) and all is looking fine, even the 12 digit serial number.
I tried some different GO versions but everytime I get the "can't establish connection" message back. Any ideas ? What apk have been used ?
The id changing did not work for me.
Only xprivacy, a xposed framework modul, did it..
At start of tomtom some pop ups appears.
Allow all, block only identity.
Good luck.
Getapped and getalked with 6603
ok, thanks, will try this later.
I also tried the Xposed ID changer were you "could" change the serial, but no luck at all.

Okay.
So I have a Note 5 N920G. I'm 99% sure this is what the phone I have is, I bought this phone from Amazon India, pretty sure when I looked it up way back when, this was the one.
First ROM I ever installed was a Dr. Ketan Rom , Lollipop V8. I don't ever remember installing a BL/Modem for the same way back then.
Later I moved on to a Sick as Hell V3 Rom and I managed to get that installed just fine without getting a BL/Modem for the same as well.
**TODAY**
I have now tried to install the latest version of Dr Ketan's ROM N10 for my Note 5. It mentioned to install/upgrade the BL/Modem so I chose the one that is required for me phone, viz. the N920G BL/Modem.
Proceed to install. Rom installs just fine.
Proceed to reset/reboot. Get NOTHING. Stuck on an infinite loading screen.
Reboot phone, still nothing.
Get frustrated try to move to another ROM for the same phone in the same sub forum.
This one also has a Kernel and a CSC something that needs to be installed in order to try and boot this ROM. Proceed with everything and in order, no luck still....
NOW, even when I try to install the other ROMs, including Dr Ketan Roms or my previous Sick as Hell Rom that I was using earlier I am facing the error labelled :-
"set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed"
I just upgraded from TWRP 3.0.0.2 to the latest 3.1.1.X version that's out right now between these two installs (previous installation worked out just fine from what I can remember.)
I ALSO installed a new kernel since I was trying to install another rom when this one failed, and that rom required a kernel to be installed :-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/7-0-khongloi-nougat-rom-aod-edge-t3580620
Now since flashing this kernel (I assume that is what is giving me all these issues) NO ROM is installing without giving me the error above of set metadata.
A quick google search says that I should update my recovery to the latest... But it IS! I upgraded to the current latest 3.1.1.X that I am supposed to have, that I found from their website.
I am so beyond frustrated at this point in time. Can someone please help me figure this out?
Honestly I am so ****ing done right now, I would Paypal you my appreciation if you can get me to install a new ROM after getting out of this mess.
