Yesterday I downloaded the Xperia X2 panels and they work very good on my HD. All panels (incl the tiles) works very smooth en fast, but there are two problems: Sometimes the panels chrashes (most of the time when I press the home button) And to switch the panels I first have to press the start button and then the panels button before switching.
My question: Can one ,or more rom builders include the Xperia X2 panels, assign the home-button to the panels program and optimise the rom so we can get a whole new experience on our HD?
Thanks in advance

For you information, you are not the first to ask this. Instead of a creating a new thread, why not search for existing threads and possibly post 'any progress on this?' within one of these?

Hi. all the links point to discussions about xperia X1 panels, and there is no mention about the x2 panels.i do not know if anyone is reading or writing those threads anymore.
the guy was asking about the xperia X2 panels, and it would be interesting to see it work on the HD.sorry if i am wrong about this. have a good day
why not flash a non manilla (and therefore lite) rom and then install the x2 panel manager over that? im sure it would work fine. graphics performance may not be as good as some of the more fully featured ROMs (which include the latest gfx drivers) but using neos driverpack ought to fix that.

you wouldnt need a guide. i assume you know how to flash a ROM, if not there are threads in the rom development thread.
You choose a lite rom
flash it
(if you want, install the driverpack http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442712)
install x2 panel manager (http://htcpedia.com/ARK-XPERIA-X2-PM-AND-PANELS/soft/rhodium-apps.html?page=1 - install all .cabs)
soft reset
i think that should do it.
Thanks all, but this wasn't my question
I know I can download a lite rom, but it even works smooth on a non-lite rom. so that aint the problem. I already know those threads about the X1 existed but it has nothing to do with the x2 panels. I made a little movie so you guys can see how great it looks and works on my HD with energyrom. It can even run together with manila (the panel on the left side at the bottom)
Youtube Video X2 Panels on a HTC Touch HD
very nice.
i agree tha it would be great to have a rom with the X2 panels.
Yes a ROM working only with x2 panels is a good idea cooks can tweak much better than a simple user and can get rid of the bugs that pop up.Maybe you should talk with some of the ROM developers on a PM or email them to get their attention.
hope a rom with x2 panels will come out!
I am an old fan of sonyericsson still p990i. I think such an interface in hd is a good idea and will be more usefull in a handy size like Hd than the Xperia itself...
hey thanks!
Running Tilewave on XannyTech GRID EVO 1.6b. smoooth, just that the alignment is not good, but that's because wimo 6.5.3.
anyway, anyone know how to add stuffs to the tiles or change instead of calculator to something else?
Where can i download the X2 panels like the one in the video? I've installed the x2 panelmanager and x2 tilewave from the xperia forum, but it doesnt work on my touch hd...
i have tried the panels but they are still not working right on the HD. maybe a cook can do something abou it?
I installed all .cabs on order on my HD but the Pmanager will not load due to an error it says.

installed everything on the latest topix beta rom and it works like a charm, but i do prefer manila over it.. even the tile panel impressed me, but its not a layout i like.

I have been using the Manilla Touch Flo 2D interface on my Tilt. When I first installed it (about a month ago) I absolutely loved it. I have installed several different themes, and it's pretty nice to look at.
However, I just can't stand the fact that it doesn't support landscape. Let's face it, the big attraction that lead most of us to purchase our Tilts (Kaisers, whatever) is the fact that it has a keyboard (or a tilting screen, which isn't possible without the keyboard slid out). So the fact that TF2D doesn't support landscare is extremely limiting.
Not to mention it's kind of buggy, and sluggish. But the lack of landscape support is really proving to be the deal breaker for me. I use my device in landscape mode more than portrait mode.
So what do you guys think is a good alternative for me? I used SPB Mobile Shell a few years ago on my PPC-6700 when mobile Shell was first released (I'm sure there is a new and better version of it out now, I used the very first version), and it was okay. How is it now? Or is there anything else?
I'm hoping to have something finger friendly, works in landscape, doesn't bog the device down (sluggish), and maybe even something that allows custom skins.
I see the hackers are working on porting TF3D, and it supports landscape. But it is early on in the porting process, and still sluggish and buggy. Is there a finished product yet that can compete?
Mobile shell has come leaps and bounds in the last 2 versions. When 2.0 came out it was almost a copy of HTC home. A lot of people prefer HTC home anyway. Before M2D I used mobile shell. As soon as T3D is functional I will be headed that direction. The graphics are amazing.
As i don't use the htc audio manager / picture viewer, manila tf2d makes no sense for me. I use Pointui with a custom made xml. works perfectly (well, nearly )
landscape is fixed by Mbarvian, it's not the fasted way but it's working.

I'll have to recommend PointUI 1.51a. In my experience, it's the smoothest running interface, and it replaces the rubbish WM task bar & ugly settings menu system (if you tell it to).
It works great in landscape and allows easy access to many functions. It takes minimal configuring, and looks all right. Not very customisable though, so if you like changing themes & tweaking etc, it may not be your favourite.

i used pointui for a while but the battery drain was unacceptable. if battery was not an issue pointui would be my choice. however, i use manila2d right now. spb pocket plus is useful and customizable, but doesnt have any flashy animations if that is what you are looking for.

Thank you for the info!
I don't like this new UI,top and bot bars are increased and for Manila this is not a good things,HTC Task Manager icon is covered from the clock,MS moved left softkey to the middle and this way home screen became ugly...
I try this 23022 on my HD but i moved back to 23017 in 5 minutes...I hope MS will complete the new UI with a better look,IMHO,now, this is not the right way.
Which ROM base on Build 23022? i want to try

That looks nice OK button was always a big problem for me it's to small and it's too damn far away from the thumbs when you operate with one hand. It's not maybe the best solution but definetly an improvement I don't want to try it cause it's too early version but what happens to the task button? I see that the clock is there so it's removed ?

23022 and Manilla 2.5
Miri - I am big user of your Manilla 2.5 ROMs. Please share when you think you will drop a 23022 build combined with Manilla 2.5. Keep up the good work!
Now the important problem is manila 2.5 is not stable! not the WM6.5 if you dont use manila, you can enjoy the new version of WM.
But I think microsoft is not creative. HTC had made the WM more easy-operative and better apparence.
So, it is not microsoft but HTC which should optimize their work.
i really hate Window 6.5 UI. Just look and see at the home screen the top and bottom bar are transparent but when u go into setting or sms for example they turn into black. It's really baadddddddddddd . That's the reason why i choose to stay with 6.1 rom until now

Absolutely right
I really like the new WM6.5 UI. It is a definite improvement from WM6.1, despite the fact that I don't really like a 100% Touch interface. I like using my stylus too but this is in WM6.5 not an issue.
What I don't like is Manila. How can I disable it completely? I am not talking about Touch Flo but about Manila. I want to have the original WM6.5 experience...
There are soime rom called super light here where u can get only 6.5 experience without manila. But as i talked above u should stay with 6.1 because u will get dissappointed with 6.5 right after u use it

if yo want to disable manila goto settings->today->items and uncheck "TouchFlo 3D"
if you want to get the original wm6.5 experience you have to enable titanium which is microsofts new "desktop". you can enable it under settings->today->items and tick "Windows default".
This is the merge of MD (maldives) and Com3.
There are definitely many issues with the number of changes made and many of the new UI updates have no real skinned assets.
However, there are some fixes in 23022 and the native 480x800 resources help (the themes included also have reg settings which need to be applied).
X button replacements like HTC TaskManager have some issues, as do the Notification managers and enlarge start menu services.
MS is in the progress of transitioning the notification UI to the confetti plus engine (the HW accelerated, XML/CPR driven engine that runs the start menu)
Knowing Miri, he will likely have a stable build up by the end of the weekend.
For those like me that could be confused about the latest builds when searching for a new ROM, I’d like to share what I found after a long search.
There are several different branches of development. Higher number doesn't mean a newer version.
6.5 Builds:
These builds have the 'Start' and 'Ok' buttons on top.
a) 219xx = COM2, WM 6.5.0
The latest build is the 21916.
These builds don't include finger friendly buttons, but it's the most stable, less memory demanding, fast and the one which is giving no problems with WM6.1 software. All programs I works perfect (activesync, Tomtom, games, etc.) including those for older WM versions.
The development of the WM 6.5 is finished.
6.5.x builds:
These builds have big Start and Ok buttons at the bottom of screen, and much more finger friendly.
Main programs works work ok but some old programs have position problems.
b) 230xx = COM3, WM 6.5.3
The latest build I found is the 23153.
This is branch used by the 'official' 6.5.3 devices.
These builds include finger friendly buttons, start button at the bottom and eye candy appearance.
I'm using (cooking) these builds for everyday use and they are stable and showing very good performance.
Last build was just released by DFT.
c) 290xx,
New branch.
The latest build I found is the 29022
It has good Ram management, it's stable and quite fast.
IE has flash support.
I've been using this branch for a few weeks with good results.
This branch is the only one active recently.
d) 216xx
The latest build I found was 21690
HTC branch development.
Good Ram management, stable and very snappy.
e) 236xx
The latest build I found is the 23699.
It seems to be very fast and stable.
f) 282xx
Latest build found was 28245
Apparently the latest builds are very stable and faster than other 6.5.x builds.
g) 24xxx
Latest build found is the 24635.
Seems to be fast, stable & visually appealing. Battery consumption seems very good as well.
Possible HTC branch
h) 235xx = COM5 [Discontinued]
The latest ROM I found is the 23569.
This is a development branch, finger friendly with new Outlook Interface and threaded email. It's not as stable as the COM2/3 builds.
The development on this branch seems to be finished.
i) other branches 6.5.x:
I found the 22047, 25028
Manila 2.5 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.5.2021 with manila home 2022.
Sense 2.5 is really great, even if it consume a lot of resuorces from your phone.
When selecting a ROM you will find:
- LEO Manila 2.5: It include all tabs (ereader, docs, footprints), but it's very slow on the blackstone.
- Rodhium Manila 2.5: this one is optimized for our old (slow) processor, it works on landscape mode, but it does not include eReader, docs and Footrint tab and some of the animations have been removed (music and pictures tabs on landscape). (note: you will find some hybrid versions based on the Rodhium manila with the missing tabs added. E.G: NRGZ28)
For the differences between Manila 2.1 and 2.5 check this post.
Manila 2.1 builds (HTC Sense):
The latest one found is the build 2.1.38411.0
Not as nice as the 2.5, but it's much faster and uses less memory.
HTC Packages:
From LEO: 3.14 (From TMUS HD2 including Manila 2.5.2018) .
From Rhodium: 2.10 (From ATT Tilt 2 including Manila 2.5.2013) .
From Oboe (Com3): 1.18 including Manila 2021
From Huasan (com3): 1.27
Pls feel free to comment about your experiencies on the different branches, and we will update the post.
Also I had a few questions/answers:
a) Does anyone know which is the WM6.5 build that is included on the devices which appear on the 6-oct? and which is the one found in the latest LEO?
Reply post #8: in Austria Samsung OMNIA II with WM 6.5 build 21856.5.0.65
b) Seen a lot of discussion about ‘page pool’. Is it something that normal users have to know, or is it just for cookers?
Reply post #8: Yes, you can improve the speed of the rom you're about to flash, but it will reduce the program memory
c) Why Manila (HTC TouchFlo/ Sense) can not be found as a Cab?
There are some developers which have created some instalable CABs, but as a general rule if you want to update your manila you need to flash a new ROM with the Manila version you want.
Rgds
Thanks
Thanks for the info!
Thanks for info. Also looking for answers to your questions.
nice work
I wouldn't call those ugly fat buttons in the later versions "eye candy" though, seems people are split over how helpful they actually are, having tried them myself I found them to be unnecessarily large and wrecked the look of Manila. But each to his own I suppose, looks like that is the direction they are going with Windows 7
oh I believe the rtm version and the one on leo are the 218xx builds, they are far more stable and work well with Manila, you won't see any of the later fat button builds until next year at least.

Hmm... although the buttons at the bottom often don't look very nice - if they're skinned the right way, the do look great. And using MaxTTM to make the top and bottom bars transparent, it looks even better! And I just love that I no longer have to stretch my small hands all the way across the screen just to open the start menu or tap X ...
Interesting info, should shed some light for noobs and junior members alike.

I skinned the buttons too, (or just use the htc black theme) but still think they are needlessly too big and push the rest of the screen up, and having start at the bottom just doesn't look as smart and spoils the symmetry, it's seems tacky and clumsy in my opinion since it was designed with Titanium in mind and not htc sense .
Personally I think they should put an option to have the large buttons in the "accessibility" or "ease of access" section in settings along with the large font size and text to speech options....
Just an update (if you want to insert it in the firt post): Manila 2.5 1920 is out.

Hey!
The way the buttons look is part of the WM-theme you choose. The one I use is called "htc black theme" (someone else here already mentioned that theme). With it, the buttons are no longer buttons but only the symbols - which already looks alot better to me.
And for the background including the bars you have to use MaxTTM (search for it in the theme section). It has a WM 6.5 option to get the background image to stretch behind the top and bottom bars as well: You have to open MaxTTM, head to the WM 6.5 tab and check a few boxes there. Since my HD is broken, I can't check the correct settings atm, but I'm sure someone else can help you with that! Also, there is a manual for MaxTTM which should include some useful information!
Thank you very much for your info. It is very useful for the junior like me.
Just some info to update the first post with: The screenshot attached is taken from Hellonasty's MaryOne v0.03 (which is bloody excellent by the way).
Good idea this thread. Hopefully, the OP will keep it updated.
Guys....i just saw the Xperia running Tilewaves panel...i searched a lot to check if its available for Diamonds but no luck ... is there any way to port it to our Diamond?? cuz it'd be awesome to see it running on the Diamond
panels are not programs they are dll's which the panel launcher can use
without the panel launcher no dice
recall threads about the panel launcher was made to run on blackstone but then it have the same res as x1
other then that you need s/e to give you the source-code of the panel to make it into a normal program good luck with that

Co0kie Home Tab is a modifciation of manila3d, and it makes the home screen very customizable with the ability to have many widgets, swype screen left and right, up and down, and easy modify graphics elements in the screen. But I am not sure if manila3D can be installable in your device. You can get the EXT packages from this kitchen and try. Once you have manila3d (also called HTC Sense) you can try to install Co0kie Home Tab from here. But again, I do not know if this will work in your device.

I think that slider icons belongs to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726996. That slider works in HTC Sense (manila 2.5) You can dump the files with any cab manager tool (see here)
To convert the manila files to png format (and viceversa) you may need CFC GUI or TF3D manila mode9 editor
If you want to apply that cab directly to your device you need to have manila 2.5 installed in your device. I remember some links to a manila 2.5 cab made by jmart518, but the best way should be cooking it in your rom. Some ext package should still be available in XDA. I know manila 2.5 had been ported to some non HTC devices (omnia2). If not possible you can try with manila 2.1.

Thanks Poyensa, I was looking for this.
But I think this time you wronged : there is no need to modify Manila, just install the right version.
I read about a software to configure Manila (it seems to me that without it Manila don't start at all).

Sorry but I said my phone has WVGA screen (not QVGA).
Now I discovered that screenshot comes from Htc Touch Pro 2.
I opened a thread in its section but I don't have replies yet.

Yes but look here & here. Manila2D was done for qvga devices, so all inslatallation on wvga devices strat from qvga then apply some fix for realignment. Specially this thread is for manila2D on X1 which was wvga (800x480). In fact you should look into x1 forum as there was a huge development there and they even had working last verisons of manila3D (HTC Sense)

Probably I'll never understand this myself. You're fantastic.
Other users want to do us clarifications for other skin? If no, there's no problem I'll close the thread
