Windows media nt working! No alarms or default ringtones!!
Ok This may sound strange. 2 days ago everything's fine until I wake up to see 15 miss calls in my cell!! I ring x1 from my other phone to check - the phone only displays a call! No vibration no sound. I soft reset - in vain. Then I discover the alarms are not working too! I try to open sound files from memory card (through windows media player), it doesn't! It just gets clicked and thats it!
When I try to select default tones like Sonyericsson etc from settings it says file not found. But I am able to play all sound files from core player.
I think if I somehow reinstall windows media player, the problem will be solved. But I am not able to find windows media player installation file anywhere. Can someone please help?

Or maybe check your memory card?
In and Out?
Memory card is fine as the problem is in playing the fies from phone memory. Default tones that come with the x1. I can also play any memory card media file from coreplayer. When I click on windows media from programs menu nothing happens. Can I re install win media from any cab file? Don;t microsoft ppl give another cab file other than the installed files?

Hello everyone,
audio manager searches the whole phone for mp3s. since i have quite a few mp3 ringtones it is very annoying when htc audio manager thinks the mp3 ringtones are music files too.
is there any way that i can make htc audio manager only search a specific folder on my wings for music? this way i wouldnt have to remove the entries everytime or i wouldnt have to make new playlists every time...
thanks
no solution right????????
Sure...
Place your ringtones in the path noted in the registry value:
HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioManager\ring_tone_path
Default value: \My Documents\My Ringtones\
Done.
Now help with my _setup.xml
this solution doesnt work because the sound files from the windows operating system are still included in the default playlist of the player. so for example im listening to music, then suddenly i hear the "battery empty" sound and it scares the **** out of me because i think my phone ran outta battery AGAIN
that's interesting. those sounds don't show up in my library.
That is very weird, I dont have those sounds either, could you have changed something somewhere that import's every music file on the phone & card?
Guys I have a about 1 GB of music on my memory card and guess what the HTC Audio manager does not play music anymore. It shows me all the tracks I can scroll through the list but as soon as I press the button to play it pauses and then reboots the phone.
Howevr, I can play the same music via the windows music player. So there is nothing wrong with the memeory of the music tracks.
Any suggestions
Call HTC Tech support, reset the phone to default settings. Sounds like something is causing an error and then a reboot. Or something infected the phone and now its sick. I would reset the phone first then call HTC and see if they can help. Plausable they shipped it out with a bug...
I think the newer versions of the HTC audio manager uses a different registry entry device_scan_path and device_scan_path_path0
just enter where your music files are located under these entries and put the ringtones somewhere else. this worked for me.
I too am look to solve this problem... I had downloaded a bunch of extra sounds for my verious notifications. currently I have them stared on my sd card \Storage Card\My Documents. My Music is on \Storage Card\Music. When I start up AudioManager it finds the files in both folders. I changed the 2 registry key and put them both the same witch place the songs 2x in the library and I also tried leaving the second entry black. both occasions the files from noth folders were in there.

Have you tried moving your ring tones and such music off the SD card and into the handset location for that type of audio file? Also check in audio manager, I havnt looked recently but I thought you could tell it to check only the SD card? Maybe I am just loopy (wouldnt surprise me)...

I'm not suggesting you move your music, just the files that are not for musical enjoyment, the other misc sounds that get used for ring tones etc off the card. Its been a while since I have been in audio manager and will have to play around with it.

THats what I am talking about also... I dl a zip file with a bunch of sound (not music) too much to move to the device
Hmm I recall Audio Manager having more options, but I am not always with it
If I have the time I can take a peak into the registry but others are more aptly suited for such an adventure.
For now my suggestion (if you have not already done this) is make play lists, I dont know how much you have as music and how much is random audio clips. You can also try going through and removing some of the audio clips you are not using? With playlists at least while the program may list all the music files on the card the ones you dont want to hear wont be in your playlists so you wont have to worry about them quite as much...
I have the same problem. I've modified also the registers but there is no effect.
Thx for help, i had the same problem on HD2
As the title says, really annoying... its been fine but now when ever I go to the music tab in Touchflow 3d, touchflo has to restart.. tried a soft reset and turning off/on, still does it.. anyone else had this problem and fixed it without a hard reset?
Had that too... try re-encoding the files.
I too have just had this problem.
I had deleted some songs from the phone and the TouchFLo player interface said tha the somgs were stil listed.
Also, I couldn't get any pictures of the album art to appear.
I used Explore via Activesync to delet all music albums, songs, album art from the 'Internal Storage' (HTC Touch Diamond) and then did a soft reset to see if that woud prompt the phone to refresh the TouchFLo madia player interface to search again and reset its list.
That's when the ******* thing started this crashing.
Windows Media player mobile is working fine.
I have many programs installed and do not wish to hard reset unelss it is absolutley necessary.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Can't really recode as I've deleted all the music files.
Cheers for now.
Only way I could get it to work more or less properly was to sync music via media player and set it to convert to wma as it syncs. I'm still looking for alternatives as syncing with wmp is a pain.
OK, I fixed it.
I had tried using WMP to sync, but it still didn't cure the problem.
For anyone who still has this problem, please try this....
1) Go into file manager on your phone
2) Navigate to My Device > Application Data > HTC > AudioManager_Eng
3) Go into the Playlists folder and delete all playlists.
4) Exit File Manager
Try the Music application again. It should now seach for music again.
The above fixed mine.
Good luck

I will bare this in mind for (I'm sure) when it happens again, sadly I got bored and did a hard reset before I checked replies here.
I got the same problem here. There are some mp3-files that seems to crash the Touch 3D Music app while it is scanning the Internal Storage. While it happens the whole Touch 3D is laggy. A very frustating bug I think. And syncing via WMP will only help when it (re)encodes the original MP3 to WMA. I think it's HTC who had to fix this bug.
On some files it helps to first remove all Mp3tags and than retagging them. So I think it must be something with the tags.
I have the same problem on my HTC Touch Pro.
after adding album art the music tab crashed.
I deleted all the music files (from the storage card) and tried what rowleav suggested than did a soft reset, but the music tab keeps craching........
This really s....
don't like to do a hard reset as I have a lot of software on it.
anyone knows a way to fix this ???
I have a 16 gb Micro SD card on the Touch Pro, and the Touch Flo player is really not up to the job. Selecting an album or a play list is okay, but I like to listen to music on random. Select all files and it can take 5-10 minutes for the player to display album covers. And sometimes it crashes.
Pocket Tunes handles this many files far better. But I can't get it set up to be the default music player with my HTC bluetooth headset. It still opens the Flo player.
WMP works okay if it is open, but doesn't have cross-fade. Which I like.
I fixed it
Only deleting the playlists like rowleav wrote did not work for me I also had to delete a file called "AudioManager_Eng.vol" (application data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\AudioManager_Eng.vol)
Then a soft reset isn't needed. Just go back to the music tab and it will create the AudioManager_Eng.vol file again and search for music files.
now i have to try and add my music again to find the one causing the problems. at least it's now easy to repair once it goes wrong again
Worked!

This worked beautifully! Thanx!
I'm having the same issue - with a crash every time I go to the music tab. I was having problems deleting the AudioManager_Eng.vol file. I did a soft reset to delete the file, and now all seems to be working as it re-builds the library.
i have a similar problem but tf3d hangs when i want to stop the musicplayer and select another tab. only 'start' still works so i can stop and restart tf3d but when i finish listening to music the ritual starts over.
any suggestions ? (i removed the mentioned files but that didn't fixe it).
I downloaded some ringtones a while back. The majority of them were mp3d files. They worked for my phone ringtone, my new text notifications, or pretty much everything I needed them too and I could listen to them in the Windows Media Player on my Kaiser.
Just today, my phone crashed or something. Basically, it just stopped working. The screen went Red, Blue, Green, across the top half, and the bottom was white and sometimes it would say "Serial." I took it in and they gave me a new one because I was still under warrantee.
None of those ringtones work now. They won't work in Windows Media Player and when I put them in the "Ring" folder, they show up in the list, but don't play when selected in the "Sounds and Notifications" menu.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? I can't even open the ringtones up on the computer and try to convert and I can't find a mp3d converter anywhere.
Is there a codec I can download, or a converter, or anything?
Thanks ahead of time.
One solution maybe to download a program on your pc that can play mp3d files (maybe winamp can?) then restart your pc once you've found one that plays em. Once restarted the file type should be in your file types list. Then in Activesync navigate to Edit file conversion settings and select mp3d files to be converted to mp3 files when you sync them to your phone. Im not 100% sure if this would work as the activesync file converter is probably very basic, Good luck though!

Something strange is happening to my phone.
Friend called me and i noticed that ringtone isn't what I set up to be (MP3), it ringed with some random ringtone from android system.
When i started Music Player to reselect MP3, none of my MP3's or other media were showing in Player.
Aslo, when i went to Settings -> Sound -> Phone ringtone none of stock ringtone were there to select, only Silente. The same thing was aslo with Notification ringtone.
I rebooted phone and noticed that Media scanner isn't running at the end of the boot process, only Preparing internal / external storage. As if Media scanner isnt runing at all on my phone and as result doesn't index my media files.
The phone is rooted, but everything on it is stock. I dont use task killers or any other app that enable/disable Media scanner.
This happened from blue sky, one minute everything is fine, other this happens...
Please help!
