These are not showstopper issues but things I want to fix, if I can.
1) Whenever a song begins to play it "skips" a bit. Like it replays the first note/sound/whatever a few times then starts over for "real" and plays the song.
2) Sometimes the next song does not start up or show in the now playing area in the widget after the current song has finished playing. Click on the "skip" button makes the next song play.
3) Different from #2. Song does not start or change the currently playing song info in the widget. Cannot skip the song because an ad is playing. Now, I get that pandora is ad supported and I am fine with that. But, this is the kookiness, no audio is playing and there is no image at all in the full app window. But I cannot skip the non-ad, so I have dead air. That is not cool.
Now some debugging I have done. These things happen over 3G, Wi-Fi, and Edge. No difference among the connections. I have tried different stations as well.
Any ideas?
I know that in my experience with it so far, I was getting "skip" like symptoms as well. I went into the settings and changed it from "Normal" quality to "High" and this seemed to fix it for me.
I haven't seen the other bugs you've mentioned.
Another thing I see is sometimes I will pause Pandora and use the back button to back out of it. After doing so, the Android Music app will start and start playing music. It doesn't show up in the Notifications bar up top. I end up just using Advanced Task Manager to kill it.
I've noticed a LOT of the music apps seem to start when you don't want them too. I've noticed Last.fm will start itself when I play music from the Android Music app. I know this because a force close message will come up for it randomly. Mixzing used to start itself as well when I would start Music, so I uninstalled it. About to uninstall Last.fm too. Quite annoying...
Yea, I already tried the normal/high quality change. No effect.
It is odd stuff.
For the first time, ever, on my G1 I had the headphone icon show up when I plugged in my car stereo cable to the HTC 3n1 adapter.
I had just started up pandora but no music was playing yet, plugged in the cable, and then stared in amazement as the headphone icon came up in the notification area.
Then, to my further amazement, the default music app launched and I was presented with a musical selection of my ringtones. Wow.
Pandora is still far and away the best pick-a-kind-of-band-station out there.
if you are getting these issues, email the developer so they know the issues exist

Yep going to do that. Just wanted to make sure I was not the only one. So far it seems that I am. I may email them anyway. You never know...
confirm #2. i have the same. stopped using pandora. waiting for updates with fixes.
So far Pandora has worked great for me, no skipping issues, but I have had my music app start once and play at the same time as Pandora. I think it's an issue related to the newer CM Rom's....not Pandora.
My problem is, when I go to look at my stations, I have 5 or 6 duplicates of each station. I double checked on my PC and the duplicates aren't there, so it's specific to my phone.
This is an opinion post. Only opinion, and open to debate.
Last.fm is slow compared to iMeem and I am exclusively on Edge- I have to use At&t for now. I heard such good things about Pandora and was SO amped to hear it was released, and gave it every chance in the world to wow me.
Imeem is better. For one reason- Favorite artists playlists and favorite songs playlists. Now I tried looking all over pandora for this, so that I can #1 listen so just artists I like, no "new suggestions" for artists, just tracks I maybe never heard before. Sometimes I don't want to "explore". And #2 when I show off my android to friends, I have group-friendly tracks exclusively favorited, and I can switch on the Favorite Songs playlist and not worry. Ever.
Please tell me I am missing something in Pandora.
I am currently running stock FRF91 and am experiencing a very frustrating issue after upgrading to Froyo.
Prior to the upgrade when using a bluetooth headset, the foreground audio app claimed control of AVRCP and kept control, even when running in the background, until a different app was brought to the foreground. For example, if I wanted to listen to an audio book using the Ambling Audiobook player, I'd launch the player hit play on my headset and it would play. I could pause it with the headset and resume while the app was in the background or the device locked. If I wanted to listen to music, I'd be able to launch Mixzing or any other program and while it was in the foreground, hit play on the headset and the new app would have control of the headset and behave in the same manner as Ambling. This is how things are supposed to work.
Since upgrading to Froyo, the default media player grabs a hold of AVRCP and and will not release control. It doesn't matter what app is in the foreground. When I hit play on my headset, the default player launches. However, once it launched Google Listen and on another occasion Mixzing. I have not be able to replicate that behavior however. It does consistently launch the default player, except for the those two exceptions.
I am using a Jabra BT3030.
Any thoughts? This is really starting to annoy me.
confirmed with my phone too.
Of course what makes the behavior really weird are the two times where the default player did not retain control. However, as I said I've not been able to duplicate that.
I was surprised that rather than attenuating music playback the One pauses music when Waze or Google Navy is announcing an upcoming turn.

Not sure on that one, it might be app specific. For instance, last time I was listening to Pandora and navigating, the phone simply turned down the volume on the music while the navigator was talking. In the HTC Music app, it muted the music but it kept playing(annoying, since I was listening to an audio book...) and in Google Play Music, it would pause it.
unremarked is correct. I use PowerAmp and theres an option to pause the music or play the notification along with the music and thats what i use. I prefer the way iOS handles it though. The music goes lower while the notification sound plays. But i haven't found a way to make it work that way.

So this morning I got into the car and continued to stream music to my device via Google Music. I needed to make an unplanned detour so I fired up Waze to calculate a quick route avoiding traffic. Much to my delight the music I was streaming attenuated when Waze spoke, just like it used to do on my iPhone. I was so jazzed and my kids were probably wondering why. So at the next light I switched to the HTC player and no dice. Same behavior as before, muting/pausing music whenever Waze spoke directions. Finally I decided to try Pandora (which I haven't been able to stream to my car in the week I've had the One) and not only did Pandora play through the car speakers, it too attenuated when Waze spoke. I haven't tried this with Google Nav.
So what's changed since yesterday? Well I booted into Safe Mode (per HTC rep's suggestion) to troubleshoot a bluetooth volume issue and that didn't do anything other than remove some of my folders on one of my home panels. That bluetooth volume issue is a separate issue and it was not resolved through Safe Booting the device. Also, it appears there was an update to Google Music so that may have resolved the music pausing issue. Either way, I'm not sure what I did or what happened to the device to fix this behavior but I'm very happy to experience this expected behavior between music (except for the HTC native player) and nav.
I have MP3s on my phone and I use the MediaMonkey app to play them through Android Auto.
However, I am not keen on MediaMonkey for several reasons so I am looking to change.
Which Android Auto-compatible MP3 player do you use?
Musicolet
Pi music player
Auri music ( new and from a developer on Reddit)
Cloud player
Pulsar
Rainwave
Jet audio
And you can also use any auto audio ( developed here on XDA) use With any music app
Huge fan of Poweramp
Second choice Mediamonkey because you can browse the tracks very good in AA
PlayerPro
I like stock music apps best. I have an old 5.0 Android Samsung tablet which does well with Android Auto. The latest Android Auto now has old cast built in, and corrects screen formating with Samsung Music. Samsung Music now has better controls with full browsing features. I assume the same with Sony Music... Which we all know can be flashed with full features to any device, using magisk or as a twrp installer. Be sure to update the Plugins to make it full featured.
Apple Music. Love that I can stream tracks from Apple, I can upload my own MP3s to iTunes and have them on my app and I can play my Playlist. This is a combination no other music app gives. Works great with AA as well.
MP3 for AA
I like MediaMonkey and Poweramp.
Pulsar also has good reviews and seems good but the other 2 are my favorite.
There are a lot of great music streaming services out there. Let me know which one(s) are you using with your personal notes so that I can decide which platform I should switch to.
I am a long time Spotify Premium user, who utilized Spotify connect religiously. But as we all know Spotify doesn't really put in a lot of effort on their Android app. So recently I have been having issues with playback (crashes in the background) and as Spotify is only making their app worse with every update on Android, I thought it is time to switch to another platform/go offline. What are your thoughts and experiences with the current music streaming services?
YouTube Music is very good app.
I have YouTube premium so I use Youtube Music and Google Play Music.
I use YouTube and Spotify - the best apps for me.
spotify ofc
I use Spotify. JRE podcast is moving to Spotify so that's a plus.
YouTube
YouTube
Made good use of my .5tb SD card and a 220 gb CD/HDCD collection that's ripped to hdds as wav files.
Over 6000 songs means I don't get bored of the music just listening at times.
Poweramp does an excellent job of managing playlists and playback. It's graphic equalizer that allows unlimited saved presets to be saved by song/album/playlist plus settings/playlist backup makes it a complete and unparalleled Android player solution.
The online sources don't cover a lot of what I want and are a pain to use. Worse I can't dial the sound in and/or saved multiple EQ presets.
I use Spotify to listen to my music
i just have all of my favorite songs on a youtube playlist. saves me money.
I dont let anyone choose music for me, never. So no need for any stream online platform. My music is with me on my SD card 128GB. more than enough!
I will never depend on the internet to access music...
I am a Spotify user but can you tell what's the difference in this??????
