Ever since I replaced the case on my Kaiser, I have to be right next to eith a wireless source or Bluetooth source for it to see it.
EG For my router, I have to be within 5ft of it just to get a 1 bar signal.
For my Bluetooth, within 1 ft in the car of the bluetooth box
Sounds as if I have forgotton to attach an aerial of some kind inside, but after numerous taking aparts and putting together, and reading the service manual, I can't find anything.
When I am in 'the zone' the bluetooth or wireless works fine.
Any ideas??
Try other radio... Make sure you are SIM and CID Unlocked, then flash a newer radio. I'm using 1.65.30.09 radio from Polaris wich increase "the zone" a lot but drain my battery more faster. I suggest try 1.7X Kaiser radios.
More info at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
before you try any flashing of ROM or radio i have to ask:
is your new casing a metal casing?
Thanks for the reply.
My new case is a standard HTC case.
I have tried a different radio, as well as the standard radio and firmware from o2
still no luck
sounds to me that you might have been unlucky and partially broken some antenna parts when changing the case... you might have som luck if yo try removing the case and look for any loose parts...

Hi,
I am a former TyTN (Dopod 838pro) user. I used it really well together with an external radio antenna to boost my cellular signal reception (bought that from expansys.com) since I used the phone a lot as 3G wireless broadband modem. The performance is superb!! very satisfactory.
After getting my Kaiser, I found out that, the device has two ports at the back. One is for GPS as stated in the manual and another one (which is smaller) is I THINK should be for the radio cellular antenna.
The problem is, my former antenna adaptor does not fit into TyTN II. I find it very difficult now to get a good reception.
Anyone has any idea where I can get to buy one? I did search from Google, yahoo but mostly showed me GPS external antenna. it is not the one i wanted. Please help me!
Just now I tried again using the same adaptor for TyTN and it fitted firmly as it should be!
It is just my optical ilusion that made me see the port seem to be smaller than the GPS but the fact is it is the same size....
sorry...
Which antenna do you have? How's the performance on it?
Do you have to remove the back to attach? It looked to me like the rubber GPS cover would only uncover the GPS antenna port...?
I too discovered the two holes in the back. My TyTn adapter seems to fit both, but I'm not sure which is for RF and which is for GPS..and why there isnt a second hole under the rubber plug for the second female port? Is this a tilt design? i.e. do TyTN II branded devices have two holes? Seems to me its time to get the Dremel out :-D
Is it possible to use the existing hardware within the TyTNII for receiving FM radio signals? Surely it'd be a case of utilising the same hardware used for WiFi (802.11x = 2.4GHz), but at a lower frequency (FM 88.0MHz-108.0MHz)..
I was disappointed that FM radio was not an included feature of the TyTNII, however I'm happy with just about everything else about it. The only comparable phone that I was considering is the Eten X500+ glofiish which does have FM radio.
If there is already an FM radio application, please hook me up.
Regards,
Scott.
NOPE kaiser does not have fm transmitter ...
if it was simply the case of utilizing the same hardware.......then surely, every single ppc with wifi could be modded to receive fm radio signal. holy cow, you know what i realized, my laptop has wifi too! i'm sooo gonna mod it to receive fm radio
just because they use the same term "radio frequency" doesn't always mean that they're interchangeable. so let's review this... since TyTn II has WiFi radio chip is there any software to turn it into:
satellite dish receiver?
citizen band transceiver?
(hd)tv tuner?
microwave oven?
fm radio? ... maybe not
bluetooth - there's a dedicated component/module for this
GPS - there's a dedicated component/module for this
but who knows if there was a disabled chip that can potentially be activated (as long as the hardware is there and accessible), there might be possibilities
one word: SEARCH!
there is a LONG thread on this in one of the kaiser sections which has long been buried which has determined that the kaiser does not have the proper hardware to receive FM radio signals. the touch cruise can receive them IIRC but the kaiser cannot due to the lack of a needed chip.

Threads like this should be closed the second they are posted. Sorry if i sound like a know it all, but i am a amateur radio operator, hence I have alo't of experience in the radio field. Using a modulated 2.4ghz transciever in impossible to re-modulate it to the am/fm bands. it just wont work.
second. you have to have a on board antenna and a tuner that is resonant on those freq's and the kaiser/tilt does not.
Third. Dutty has been tinkering on a idea of getting it to work, and following what he is thinking it might work, however the reception most likely will be limited.
Fourth. If a radio is such a big deal then buy a am/fm portable radio, or buy a sony w580i,
Fifth. SEARCH, there are plenty of threads regarding this.

Sixth. Using wifi or data go to www.thestreamcenter.com/pda and listen to all the FM radio your heart desires
Wow! Thanks for that link.
...or get one of the many internet radio programs available (such as Resco Pocket Radio).
All,
I have an AT&T Tilt, which I have had a for a while. It has had various different ROM's on it. Currently running one of Dutty's latest for the Kaiser.
However, the blasted device no longer recognizes headphones (the ones that shipped with it, or either of the adapters I have). It charges fine, it connects via USB just fine, it just ALWAYS plays music and sound over the internal speaker rather than the headphones.
I've even pulled the thing apart, following the instructions on the wiki, and have taken a good hard look at the jack and connectors, everything seems to be fine visually.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks much
MVS
Id maybe switch the radio just to be sure as the radio firmware controls audio. Just a shot in the dark

you've really got to do some more searching before starting new threads...it keeps clutter down and it is a mind set that is in harmony with the spirit of the forum
please see my post in this short thread that is just TWO WEEKS old...you will find that your problem sounds EXACTLY the same as this person's problem:

good luck!
Hi all,
First - YES i have used the search feature and tried all the solutions that I found.
I have a GSM Diamond and a Jawbone 2. Regardless of what ROM (I've tried a standard and 4 cooked roms) or radio (I've tried 3 seperate radios, including the 1.03.25.18 and 1.00.25.05) I use, I get HORRIBLE BT reception/range on my jawbone. I thought at first it was by Jawbone (its brand new)...but I got it to work perfectly with great range/clarity on another phone. I also tried the advanced config tool and messed with all the BT settings to no avail.
The Jawbone sounds fine until I put the phone about 18" away from the jawbone - then it gets progressively more static until it drops out at about 24" from the headset...this is all direct line of sight. If i put it on the other side of my body (radio through body) it drops immediately.
Anyone have any idea? Its like the radio is permanently on ultra-battery conserve or something...
Thanks for all of your help,
Kyle
I tried installing a new version of windows (2.03.xxx) and it came with a different radio (1.09.xxxxx), but that did not help a bit. If I put the headset to my ear and then hold the phone in my hand, it sounds PERFECT when the phone is touching the headset and fades out into complete static when I hold the phone at arms length. When I put the phone behind an object (say hold it on the opposite side of my head as the headset) - it drops the connection.
Any ideas??? I really would appreciate some help...my $100+ jawbone is not working and it sucks!
Thanks in advance,
Kyle
Hi all,
Have my android head unit installed in my car and regardless of what i try, like different antennas, power amplifiers, etc, i cannot get the AF to work. I can be driving and completely lose the current radio reception unless i manually tune the radio. Enabling RDS does nothing except show the station name.
It's really annoying as my standard facrory unit worked no problem. Can anyone help?
Thanks
What kind of car is it? A lot of newer cars have two antenna wires. If the installer didn't get an adapter to connect both you will get very poor reception.

Thanks for reply. It's a hyundai i40. As far as i can make out there only the one antenna cable connected to the unit and there is the DAB cable just left to one side
Had a chat with an installer today and he told me that hyundai are one of the hardest to get right as the radio, amp, antenna all work as a system and as soon as one is removed the ability for all to work right is lost.
Don't know if that's just waffle or if he really knows, but thats what he told me anyway
