Okay, so I tried this last year and I gave up and yet, I'm doing it all over again ending up with the same problem:
I have a Mac and I installed Eclipse 3.5.2 Cocoa. So, I want to install the Android Developers Tools (ADT) but whenever I go from Eclipse --> Preferences --> Available Software Sites and I add the site but nothing happens after that. There is no checkboxes to check for "Developers Tools" so I cant move forward to configure the ADT..
Help me out so I can start developing some apps.
Thank You in advance.

i want to develope a rom with android 2.2 for the HTC imagio but have no idea where to start. need some help
cant wait android 2.2 running on Imagio .... need some help
First off, if you would search before you post, you would know that you can't make an 'Android' ROM for a windows mobile phone. You Can however install a package that allows you to boot XDAndroid.
Blackstone build (which is most likely compatable with the whitestone) here
And if that doesn't work, well you're pretty much out of luck.

there is a user on PPCgeeks that explains how its done, i think the user is "drellisdee"

The HTC Vogue is a WinMo phone with members very actively developing Android ROM's. My Vogue runs Froyo when I give it break from WinMo. I do boot from the SD card, but many boot straight to Android, with no Windows mobile to be found..

Exactly. I have 3 vogues that all boot Android 2.2 from NAND, so yea, don't listen to Dean. If HE would have done HIS research, he would have known all about that.
Please build an Android ROM for the Imagio.
-M
Subscribed. Wishing this to come a reallity.
id like to see this also
okay great, so who's working on it?
Can one of you just try using the blackstone ROM please and let the rest of us know if it works?
You can always flash back to stock, so someone just try it.
My old Vogue just died, and getting a replacement is $90 since it is discontinued - OR - I can get an Imagio for $50 with my new-every-two deal.
Since I want to stick with Android, I need to know.
-edit-
nevermind...Imagio has forced data plan...VZW jerks! Guess I will stick with the Vogue replacement (no forced data required)
If you want android *DONT* get the HTC Imagio, nobody is working on it...
Android uses Apache License

I completely disagree with you, are you really a developer?, look at the Apache License in wikipedia
Free software can be modifyed !!
Do you still want to develop Android for the Whitestone?
I know where to start !!

Agreed...ThaDeanesta doesn't know what he/she is talking about. There are tons of Android ROMs for Windows mobile phones. The most active community is probably the HTC Vogue/HTC Touch forum for custom Android ROMs running on stock WM 6.1, 6.5 devices.
It booted (i guess) !!

[Hi, i was ale to boot yesterday but i found a problem with the LCD screen, it is not recognized and is blank, i think maybe we can work it out using the correct command line arguments in the startup.txt HaRET file
Please try it, i need help:
http://www.4shared.com/file/h9LTDTdp...imagiotar.html
The screen is blank, but i know it boots because it turns off the screen after a minute and responds to the "send" buttom and turns on, also it created a data.img and FSCK0000.REC file
There's a lot of work to do but we are on the right way !!!

Hi all.
I wanted to know if there are new updates about Android on Htc Touch Viva (Opal).
I see, in the thread of Wing Linux, that is developing a new version of this.
Is true?
If the answer is Yes, when I can try Android 2.1 D) on my Touch Viva?
Thanks to all.
25 Views; nobody can help me?
Wing Linux
On the Homepage of Wing Linux you can see all news
Updates
If you go over to the ROM development page there are a couple of threads about what's going on with Android on the Opal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=444
Unfortunately it doesn't appear that you can use Android on the Opal yet, but give enough time hopefully the guys that are messing around with it will give us an Android ROM. I wish them luck and hope they have success. I'd love to try Android out myself!
http://www.ir-tci.org/forum/showthread.php?t=75206
maybe it can help u
Can somebody tell me how to set it as default? Is it possible yet?
Please, don´t ask this question at every moment :-/ Devs are working hard on a real Android ROM for our loveled Xperia X1 but till now there is no way to have Android as default system (I mean NAND instalation).
If you want start Android automatically after charging Windows Mobile, just Google it. You´ll found the solution in thousands of threads: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11058529&postcount=15
And as I told you at the beginnig of the post, please try to keep this space useful for devs reporting bugs, problems and so on for the fast development of Android.
Thanks...
So the wifey accidentally DESTROYED her Galaxy S2 (tmobile). She completely underutilized the phones capabilities, basically just using it for FB and to play Candy Crush Saga. Well, the phone was past warranty so i got her a cute Nokia Lumia 521 from ebay.
She HATES it...No Candy Crush! The sky is falling!
I wanna learn everything that I can about modifying and technology...and maybe look like a hero at the same time.
So what I am asking is:
Can I format/erase the 521 and install an Android OS (or Android stock based ROM) onto the Nokia Lumia 521?
If not, why not?
And could someone point me in the direction of some resources that could help me to learn how to construct something from the "ground up". Should I start by learning everything about linux code? And maybe there is another way...She hates the WP8 layout, but would be content if she had Candy Crush. Is there a way to translate the game so that it could be played on microsofts mobile OS?
ANY kind of knowledge or imput would be immensely appreciated and not lost on me....consider it paying it forward
Thanks
You can't install Android on a Nokia Lumia 521 basically because three reasons:
1.- The phone basic firmware is EFI based and Android doesn't run on EFI based systems
2.- Since the phone is based on EFI, the OS that is installed must have a valid signature in order to boot and right now, only Windows Phone 8 has the required signatures to tell the bootloader that it is "safe" to boot the system.
3.- Even if you manage to change the EFI based bootloader and get Android to boot (which is extremely unlikely), there's the drivers problem. Since Windows Phone is a closed platform, all the drivers are closed source and most of the hardware used in Lumia phones is specific for Windows Phone in e sense that it runs smoothly only on that platform. You can't expect to have the same performance of 512 MB of RAM in Windows Phone than in Android: in Android, 512 MB makes the phone laggy for many tasks, as Android is poorly optimized.
I hope that answers your question.

thanks so much for your prompt response. It is great that there are people out there willing to share any bit of knowledge. I guess what I am looking for is a phone(remote if you will) that can integrate everything in our lives. im going to ATTEMPT to learn everything that i can...that's why i was wondering about switching her phone to android. WP8 really gives you no sense of control. I don't like only being able to do what is on the surface. i have an old Verizon HTC Thunderbolt that I wanted to enable for use with our Tmobile account but that keeps getting shot down too. No SIM so i cant update Android so that she could play Candy Crush on that device...so im just gonna research and get some experience by rooting and updating to JB or a stock based ROM.
Thanks again
Well, over at Windows Phone Central, they had news that MS was looking with HTC to have dual-boot phones with Windows Phone and Android on the same device. I don't remember when that was reported though.

i don't think they want to work on actually dual boot but i think they want to do something like Samsung Ativ Q
an emulator of android runs under windows phone. And windows phone will able to run android apps!
dual boot needs an internal storage over 32 GB that most phones doesn't have
Sigh... Yet again
1) WRONG THREAD.. You're asking a question so your question should be placed in the Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section
2) Search before making duplicate threads... You will get results that return the same exact answer. NO.
I remember the old HTC HD2 was only released on windows mobile. But thanks to the hackers and tinkerers out there people were able to load android on it. Also they have been able to get multiple OS on it like Ubuntu.

Windows Mobile devices are different they are based on Windows CE but WP8 is based on Win NT .
Maybe we will be able to run Android on SD with something like HARET but the most important thing is that we have to first Interop Unlock WP8 devices then we will able to use more Capabilities maybe we can do something.*Maybe*

There are no "engineering ROMs" in the meaning you're talking about - they only differ by Microsoft packages. Nokia turns devices into R&D the other way.

look at the picture , can you download it ?
the rom's are of course "online" but this doesn't mean you and me can download them.
next is that you can't get them on the phones (other EFI)
and it will after download and flash on a dev phone download the dev packages from MS servers

just to add i have a rm-937 device but im using a rom not meant for my product code.
and if you have the PRODUCT CODE known for a particular device chances are that you might be able to download them.
from the developer rom .. these files ( hope they will be useful for someone )

This ROM isn't anyhow different from "normal" ROMs. It is the ROM installed on devices given away on different shows/events. It doesn't provide any additional features/capabilities.
