6.1 T-Mobile Edition, Bug Discussion (NO POSTING PLEASE)

Well If you enterd this thread, You probley figured out that we have a 6.1 T-mobile edition rom thanks to ND4SPD. How ever at the moment it is limited to a small group to test. At the same time I hate using the PM system when multiple ppl are testing anything. So I made a thread were WE (the TESTERS) can discuss and post fixes for this rom so we can get it released to you (THE PUBLIC) soon. I ask please, PLEASE, Do Not Post in this thread UNLESS you actually recieved the test rom from nd4spd. When a nonsence post is posted it makes it harder for us to concentrate on working on the rom when we are answering your questions.

On to the post.
What I have found so far..
1. HOME Messages Tab crashes NEO when enabled.
Installing my cab of 4.0 Arcsoft mms did not help this problem.
2. HOME My Faves App does not work, but My Faves settings will run.
I have not tryed to fix this.
3. HOME Notification Tab does not open the text its notifing you of nor does it dismiss the text by pressing dismiss
I have not tried to fix this
4. HOME Wap Shortcuts cannot find winwap or one of its components.
I think adding regisrty values for clinks instead of using the guid will fix this.
5. HOME Settings tab doesnt include battery display
Figured out why but dont have a fix. Im missing HKCR
6. Start Menu Recent Programs includes 2 shortcuts that do not work (Instant Messaging.lnk and Task Manager)
In conveinence untill you open 9 programs to get these off recent programs. These programs work when using the shortcuts in "all programs"
7. PIE Favorites & History when clicked open file explorer. instead of drop down menu.
I havnt looked into this. How ever ive had the problem before and its usually the html file being used.
8. WAP BROWSER says my homepage is unavalible (but the default t-mobile rom told me this as well)
I dont know if this is just my phone, Feedback needed.
9. UNLOCK SCREEN still does not show clock and date when set to
Seems like we are going to have alot of fun with this one.
10. HOME Getting Started is not displayed.
Simple menu added to the registry for neo will fix this.
11. PHONE Can not initiate call by dialing number and hitting send key. (have to hit center button on D-Pad)
I have no clue were to start looking on this one.
12. MMS Does not work
SMS Works fine.

ND4SPD said neo is looking for arcsoft 4 but arcsoft 5 is on this rom wich is why the message tab isnt on the neo homescreen.

The battery in the settings tab is not showing up due to the ID in the registry {634CA962-22D8-4671-BBC7-BAC47148A4B6}, When its switched to the wifi ID wifi status shows up on line 2 but the battery is displayed in the settings tab and opens power.exe when clicked. But when switched back to {634CA962-22D8-4671-BBC7-BAC47148A4B6} the battery display dissapears.

The html coding is causing the favorites and history drop downs from displaying correctly. This reg edit will fix this issue simply by using the default windows mobile homepage. wich is the same page but not skinned by t-mobile

shadowmike one of the biggest problems I am having is it locks up on the home page and did you nodes win going in to
internet explorer and hitting favorites or history it brings you to the windows folder

I think there are two ways of solving the problems:
The Easy Way:
Just use the wm6 OEM files and use all wm6.1 SYS files except CHome and ConfettiCore
This will get a working rom quickly but the problems we have now will still be there if we try making separate organized packages for each software.
The Hard Way:
Fix all these bugs one by one until assured to work and only then post a public rom. This means that the rom will take a longer time to release.
I prefer the hard way, but am open to the easy solution. What do you guys think.
btw, thanks shadowmike for making this thread. PM'ing was pretty tedious

Explain lockup ? as in freeze. And how do you get it to freeze ? Are you switching home screens and when you try to get to homescreen you cant ? what apps are you running on the rom ?

it just freezes by scrolling down it .well as there is so many bugs I am running no apps and by lockup I mean the home screen freezes so you can't scroll it but you can go to start and to other app but the home screen stays locked till reboot are you having the same problem if not I will try to redownload it and reinstall it... nd4spd did you work the bugs out of the new way of installing from the T-Mobile rom if so I will give it a go and I would like to see a stabile T-Mobile wm6.1 rom with out neo first thin work on this but you are the cook not to say I would use it I like the clean wm6.1 I have......i would like to see UC (user customizable) 2.0 Capable in the clean rom

I have not had your "Freeze", however since the shadow is underpowered. when i switch homescreens if i dont hit end call or the home button before it starts to load the homescreen i have to restart. however this also happend in the official t-mobile rom.

Small bug I noticed is when you set your calendar view to default to month (say), it still only opens to agenda view.
Not quite sure what received from nd4spd means but with a few hacks this is a great rom.

It means he pm'ed a few ppl a link to a new 6.1 t-mobile NEO homescreen rom.
From what he told me it was not publicly released... so if he did not send you the link to this rom and you have it. somone leaked it... thats what it means. basicly. I dont want ppl that dont have this test rom to come in this thread and ask questions and make this thread 10 pages.

well i decided to come back and work on this again.
im currently installing the rom. simply because i want to use the portrait camera. and since it works flawlessly in this version. yeah.

Yea Mike, what I been wanting is the original T-Mobile screen back.

Text Message Software

I was curious if there was an alternative to the default text messaging software. The main reason I don't like it is that it is a little plain. So if you know of any it would be great if you could point me to it with a link or just give me a name. I have done some searching but could not find anything.

Hey, There is something that is similar, but a little bit nicer (has smileys, and stuff), but still a little plain looking. It's called Shogunmark? if i remember correctly :S

I really like Birdsoft's Extreme Text
This is not the actual company's website, it is down for some reason, but you can still download a trial from this site and even buy it from this site.
If you have pictures loaded for your contacts it shows them, and it also threads your sms and will even allow for hyperlinks to be clicked on. I only have WM6 and it works great for threading your conversations all without messing up your inbox or anything. All this program does is just reference your inbox and merely just groups your conversations by contact in nice looking app for you. You can install and uninstall without it messing up your messagin settings or losing any sms cuz its a stand alone program that just merely looks at your inbox and references it as I said before. Only downside is if someone sends a MMS, all you will see in the program is the message they sent with the pic/video. You woiuld then have to go into your actual message inbox to look at the pic/video.

I use Extreme Text also, and really like it. It looks nicer, and it types smoother - there is no lag in landscape mode from keypress to display, as there seems to be in the standard message app, in my experience. And it integrates fine with the standard message app - you can use them interchangeably.

Thanks for all of the posts and suggestions I will be sure to check them out. If anyone knows of anymore I can try out it would be great if you could post them.

Txt Msg software
You can also use iMov messenger....very convenient and simple

I like sms-Chat by Vito, But you have to have the most recent version, Version 1.10 has a bug and you can't see your text as you type in landscape... Version 1.15 should fix that bug..

Nothing new in the new official HTC ROM???

Everything is quiet like the grave... I haven't heard or read a single word if there is anything new in this rom except the tiny bug fixes announced by HTC...

Apart from the official line heres what ive noticed (in twelve hours)
1. Sliding Bar answer on incoming calls
2. Text input keys are smaller so that you can actually see whats on the screen when youre writing (sic)
3. Ever so slight speed improvement on finger sliding
4. Video Call re-replaced with contacts (life saver)
5. Might just be me but the fonts seem sharper and slightly smaller.
6. Add a word in text messaging for example now gives a tick and a cross instead of "add"
Just random little things Ive noticed but as they say, its the little things that count eh!

no more flipping envelope when going to mail it's just there...
and some speed improvements, but in winmo only (not touchflo).

7. When connecting to PC via USB you get a 3rd choice - internet sharing (as well as active sync and disk drive)
8. HTC flo text message section now has a forward option as well as reply and delete - no need to view all messages to forward

I feel like the Sliding Bar on answering calls helped me decide to upgrade, even though I'll loose the flipping envelopes

Sliding Bar is good
Ability to forward text message from Touch flo is good
The rest are the icing on the cake!!!
Good luck - I had a bit of a scare with my upgrade last night - it stopped on 60% and told me the image file was corrupt. Worked second time though from the same file???

First bug: if you have activated a security PIN (like me) you can't block the phone keeping pressed the phone down button. The screen goes black for a fraction of second but the phone doesn't block.
Another thing I didn't notice before (so I'm not sure if it was the same in previous versions): you can add only 15 persons to your favorite contacts (the "Add to Favorites" buttons just disappears). BTW, is there any tweak to increase this limit?

I use speed dials - easier and possibly limited to 100 (not sure)
The favourites has always annoyed me - you cant seem to change the order in which they appear and they look boring without a picture (IMO)!

There's also a new Java engine, better than the old one. At least better for Opera Mini 4.2, fonts are now bigger and easier to read.

My envelopes are flipping fine.... just as they always have!
And for anyone's who's interested; if you've been using any of the cooked ROM's which have been released recently, you won't notice any difference with this official release because the ROM cookers have been using v2.03 for weeks!

9. Agenda from home screen works correct now. Choose the view u'd like to see, (day, week, month whatever) and it will open up correctly right now, when opening Agenda from home screen.
10. When u select agenda or calls on the home screen, it will be selected by green. When u finished looking agenda or calls, and return to the home screen, the green selected option is gone, a clear screen with no green. (before the thing was always green when u turned back, it frustrated me )
Just 2 things i recognized!

They do indeed, but thanks to Facebook I have pictures for all of my favorite friends...

with this new rom, i have a problem:
when i receive a message and open it with tf3d i can't type prompt.
i have to move down the text to see the last message and then i have to put the cursor on the correct place.

Its a rom update but is it aswell a radio update?

As far I now Orange use a own brand rom and when you start using a other rom you will lose your waranty, ofcoarse you can get a other rom just ask someone here to upload it, but you can use than aswell a coocked rom.

Yeah, correct. Orange will distribute their own ROM's.

A little bug that I found last night - I installed nadavvi-nadavvi-call-history cab - which installs an extra call history tab to the touchflo menu
Afterwards everytime i tried to access sms through touchflo i kept getting unexpected errors in manila.exe.
As soon as i uninstalled the call history tab sms started working again. Shame as i had this installed with the older rom with no probs and it is quite handy.

I've decided to do the upgrade tonight but I have a question:
All my apps are installed in the 4GB Internal Storage (Not the phone memory). Will the Internal Storage be viped out aswell during the upgrade?
If not, I guess all apps will be useless anyway since the registry is viped. Do you recommend uninstalling all the apps before the rom upgrade???

i´m a big fan from WM6.5 and the Manila 2.5 (or HTC Sense) UI. But there are some bugs in this UI they make it nearly unuseable for some of us.
---> the (known) Wheather Clock bug / my Location bug
---> the Contact Tab Bug with Photocontacts(using Active Sync only)
[Discription ActiveSync bug in contact-tab]​I use ActiveSync (with Google Account, syncing calender and contacts). When i want to add an favorite contact which comes with a foto from the ActiveSync Server, the device freeze.
U can add an AS contact without a foto without any problems, if you click a contact, the contact open, u choose a number and the album opens to add a foto.
If you try to add an contact with a synced photo, you can choose the contact, but if you choose than the number the device hangs up.
Maybe one of the chef´s here have an idea to slove it.

i can't tell which ROM you're using, but i have no problems adding photos to my contacts. i've read where others have had similar experiences to yours, but can't recall if the problems were due to contacts, using Google accounts, etc. if you haven't already, please post your issue/feedback in the ROM thread so the chef and others are aware.
like you, i'd like to see all these issues resolved. however, i believe resolution will be mainly up to the M$ and HTC developers.

Which ROM ever, it is an HTC Sende issue. It´s not the Problem to add an foto to a contact, it´s a problem if the foto already on the google server saved to a contact.
There are only problems with the contacts they have fotos added...

anyone facing any problem with the keyboard? for me the keyboard word suggestion function seem to be working irregularly for manila 2.5. any fixes?

all the problems here has already been discussed and several solutions and work around has been found, search in the particular ROM thread you are using.
each ROM cooked has different mixture of Manila packages and version of Windows 6.5, so each will have different bugs and each will be discussed in that ROMs thread.
there is little need of this thread being started.

I can report another bug, which definitely wasn't reported (or I didn't see it in forums):
Currency rates not displaying change (always 0% change):
the currency rates always show 0% change (green), while they could drop or rise, or (rarely) stay the same. On Yahoo finance (where HTC takes info from) it shows change (red/fall or green/rise). On Stocks tab the actual stocks (Microsoft, HTC etc.) also show change.

Like always said before: Not every issue is a bug.
Or elsewise: I test different ROMS with Manila Sense and never have this issue. In the manila tab and in the "Stock Details" dialog all changes are correctly shown (red and green) with their percents.

Did you add currency rates (eurusd=x, usdcny=x etc.)?
Or only used stock rates (prices of shares of companies listed on stock exchanges)?
Can you confirm currency rates also display change in percents and with different colour depending on their rise or fall?

Hi I got problem on my malina 2.5 on stock tab doesnt add currency in format (eurusd=x, usdcny=x) after update rom. Before update does, now not. Its other way to add currency on manila tab?

this is Yahoo and HTC conflict, i red about this anywhere, HTC not paid for license. But if you have saved ygo database, update is working very well.
but adding still not working...
i hope HTC will fix this....

Yesterday was working (adding new rates)....today its off again...
This thing goes on and off every now and then...
Best practice is to keep a backup of the ygoservice.db file in the directory \Application Data\HTC\ygo\.

I'm not sure if this is HTC related. I managed to get one currency added USDTRY, none of the other combinations worked. The interesting thing is, they don't work on Yahoo mobile site either but work on the Yahoo desktop site.
Edit: Temporary solution here.

sms text box freezing after replying to msg

is there a fix to this text msg freeze after i reply to it ? i heard its cause of the cache or something on the xperia. could i simply have my msg's on my sotrage card instead of my phone memory? what are some registry tweaks i can use with total commander and if u guys can point me to the right direction for this? i have tried the search but no luck for the text message freeze.

I know this is an old thread and no one replied but I too wonder if there is a fix.
Its annoying when I read/reply to a text message and close that conversation it freezes for like 20s to a minute for me when i try to go out to my text message window. and then from there sometimes it freezes for another 20s to a minute when I try to go to my home screen. I notice this only happens when I read a text or reply to a text to someone that I have a lot of text messages saved from.
If this doesnt make sense I can try and take a video of it and post it

Don't allow a huge build-up of old text messages. The more you have, the longer the pause, it seems. I wish there was a way to automatically delete SMS'es older than 'x' days.

If you are using WM6.5, use the newer version. I've got Christian's 3.904 Clean installed and the pause is almost non-existent compared to older WM6.5 ROMs.

yeah, the newer 6.5s don't have this issue (runnning Valkyrie LEO 5.5 and don't have the slow inbox anymore)

cool, im going to try out one of the new ones. I hate waiting for a minute after replying to a text.

Im trying Christians clean rom and I still have the lag with my text messages. And I know its only with the people who I have a lot of text messages for but I dont think 75-100 text messages is that much.

Like I said, you shouldn't allow a buildup of many messages. Sometimes I wish I could know what the hell a WM phone is doing when we sit there and wait forever after pressing a function.
Which Christian clean ROM are you using. The problem went away when I went to the 3.904. I think he's up to 4.001 now.

I guess I have to delete my messages. Kind of sucks though since when I had stock WM6.1 it wasnt like this lol.
I remember a while back someone said its possible to change the save location of your text messages to your Storage card, will that make a difference in that freeze/lag?
