Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum, but I'm frustrated to no end.
I have a g1 running the latest cyanogen mod (4.2.9.1 I think it is). I also have a 4 gig sd card that was partitioned for the apps2sd mod. Everything was running fine until yesterday.
Now, every time I reboot I lose my apps. on the first reboot it will show tat my secondary sd is unavailable, and on the following reboot various apps crash and are unusable, most notably handcent and cm-updater.....
I've tried wiping/factory data reset, I've repartitioned and reformatted my sd card, and I've reflashed my rom.... All the above provide a temporary fix, but when I reboot, everything is gone again!
Can anybody help me?
try using a different rom and see if it does the samew thing. If it does, then its ur sd card. Is it Class 2? 4? 6?

I'm not sure on this... how do I determine?
on your sd card itself it should say Class 6 or Class 4 or Class 2. The lower the class the more your sd card has a chance of wearing out and becoming useless. IF its an old Class 2 Sd card, then its probably dying and its time to buy a new one.
It's a class 4, and not all THAT old... I took it back to stock 1.6. I'm gonna try re-partitioning, re-rooting, and re-modding tonight after work. *fingers crossed*
Ok.... this is ANNOYING!!!
I went back to stock... re-rooted my phone. When I repartitioned my sd card the process went smooth... looking at the sd & phone card storage it displays that I have 3.21 gb total and available... the sd secondary shows I have 457mb total and 398 mb free... this would lead me to believe I got it working properly.... WRONG!!!
Now when I try to open my market, it says this application installed, and its not in my app tray... so I reboot again (no offense to cyanogen, but Im SUPER sick of seeing the logo reboot... I just want my phone to rock like it used to) still no market...
What do I need to do now?
I'm having the same problem, but only when I apply a theme. If I just stay on plain cyanogen its doesn't happen.

You need to flash the stock HTC Recovery image then another ROM of your choice on top of that.

I just got an A-Data Class 6 4 gig card. I can format 3 partitions, upgrade to ext3, copy update zips and files to it, but it boot loops when i try to load up a new rom (any rom). My old class 2 4 gig card loads everything fine. It even runs the latest king hero really well.
Any ideas?

How did you partition your card?
using parted in console. I've re-done it several times as well.
So no matter what rom you flash your getting a bootloop. Do you have a nandroid?
I do. Using Amon_Ra's 1.2.3
On 2nd thought, do you mean a nandroid of a bootloop instance?

Naw a nandroid of a rom that was working before you started flashing.
unfortunately no. i got partition crazy and removed the fat32 it was on right before i thought "did i back that up?"
With my old class 2, i've been able to get up and running on 4.1.999 and this king hero rom with no troubles.
Can a taco be bad but not bad? like, it tastes good, but it was made with bad ingredeints or a horrible chef.....
It sounds to me like your wiping after flashing.
You wipe data, Wipe ext, fix ext, flash rom.
If you wipe after flashing, or flash without wiping you will always get a boot loop.
The image doesnt run from your sd card, so the only thing that would cause the loop is the data on your phone.
Find a tested and working rom (i suggest either Mligns newest or Kings newest)
Go into recovery and turn on USB.
Move rom to sd card.
Wipe data
Wip EXT and fix
REBOOT INTO RECOVERY
then go to flash any ZIP (if you dont reboot, the rom file will not be seen correctly)
flash the rom
Fix ext again just in case
Reboot and leave the phone alone for a few mnutes.
EVERY phone is different. Some take 2 min some take 10-20 min
But if you have flashed properly, the best way to know is the shimmer on the HTC will continue to flow and not stop.
Sometimes it will fade, sometimes the noti bar will appear for 5 min then boot...
Just have patience and try.
EDIT- You typed while I was typing, It sounds like then maybe that card is bad then. If all works with older card, then the flash may be bad on the newer card. may want to return it unless you have other uses for it.
Just to add a strange twist to this. Just reformatted card so it was all Fat32, wiped, and flashed 4.0.4. Everything went fine. What on an SD card could crash Apps2SD?

Possibly the upgrade from ext2 to ext3. Thats why I like to do mine in Ubuntu. Format the card using linux for a linux phone.
Decided to go a step further and go back to parted and resize fat32 and add a 500mb ext2. Rebooted and it fired up and shows the ext2 in the settings screen.
All that and it's not even Halloween yet. I'm going to try to flash 4.1.11.1 just to see if i can break it again
I'm sending it back. wiped flashed 4.1.11.1. Got to setup screen but everything force closes. com.android.phone, com.google.process.gapps, com.android.setupwizard.
Skipped wizard.
signed in with google account.
no service connection ever made so no account sync.
time to email newegg and try this again

lol.....you give up quite easily.. those problems arent related to the sd card (they are on your /system partition)
try to reflash your rom and repair ext partitions then fix_permissions in recovery
hmmmm.....got card #2 and it appears to be the same case....boot loops. i can't believe that 2 sd cards would be bad only when it comes to apps2sd.
got adb running on my work pc and uploaded a log of the fail
again, everything boots just fine (just booted king's new 1.0) with my lexar class 2
updated logcat - 1st one was when i couldn't get off of the g1 screen.
this logcat is of the bootloop. any help would be great
tried to flash a hero rom ,
di all the essential radio first spl wipe wipe repartition yada yada,,,,
when its finaly load i get crazy constant media force closes
the only thing i can think of is that i jus have a regular sd card not a sdhc class 2 even , jus a micro sd
does this sound like i need a class 6 to resovle the issue
i don't want to spend 30-40 $ on a class 6 if its not gonna get past this
um...what hero rom did you flash? that would be very helpful....there is a ton of em.
I won't be your card. We need to know what ROM you're using.
i tried king x , mighty max , sense hero
Any ideas . I got a new 8gb sdhc class6 wich is a big diff then my 2 gb sd ,so I'm gonna give it another go today if anyone has any suggestions I could always use n e advice givin
Hmmm odd.
How is your card partition? Could you post the exact text for the FC and when the occur?
Well when I attempted the flash it would load past the splash and boot image but when the home screen would load I would get media fc's. The status bar would be there but would be unresponsive the wallpapers wus black and no app tray ,the screen lock would work but constan acor's and media closes. I'll try it again later 2nite and get the exact error msg also I partitioned my 2gb sd. Using amon recovery but my card isn't high class I bought a new class 6 that I'm gonna use for 2nites attempt
Have you tried repartitioning, not just wiping the ext? That usually fixes most problems with KingxKxRom

Doesn't sound like you are doing a system wipe prior to flashing the ROMs. Make sure you wipe of the phone and the ext partition prior to flashing. I'm assuming you have your card partitioned with fat32/ext3/linux-swap partitions in that order...if not, that could also be your problem.

i wus forgetting to wipe after repartioning , now im on mlign THANKS EVERYBODY UR HELP AND SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED !!!!!
I used to have a 4GB class 6 Micro SD Card. One day my phone crashed and I had to remove the battery in order to reboot. When I reboot, the SD Card is damaged and I had SD-Ext with alot of apps on.
I then got a 2GB class 6 Micro SD Card. Today the same thing happened.
I'm using FroyoByLaszlo 5.2 and I want to know if there's a solution to this problem (as in, stopping the phone from breaking my SD Cards - they must be reformatted before they will work now).
i am not sure if thats a genuine warning.i get it all the time every time i reboot,i just think thats cos i dont have an ext4 partition.all i do is remount the card
Sent from my HTC Dream using Tapatalk
I have Ext4 partition though. And if I attempt to launch an app (they usually have the default app green logo) it says 'Could not launch the requested activity'...
same problem here, with froyobylaszlo, did you find a solution? thanks

did that already, and then after a while the error comes back
it's the rom... you need to reflash it.. i had an issue like that.. dropped my phone and sd card fell out so no matter what i did it wouldn't fix, had to reflash rom..

yep! That is what needs to be done after that.
ok... thank you very much for your help.
I was wondering if the reflashing worked for more people? I reflashed like 3 times now and it still pops up.
Before when I switched my apps to the SD card, they died there and didn't work anymore. Otherwise it was fine (except with that annoying notification that would never leave).
Now I have formatted everything like 4 times and still no luck. This all happened after I got froyo by laszlo.

did you un partition it?
you need to un partition via recovery (set swap and ext values to: 0mb)
then remove from device, insert to pc and re format to FAT32
now do wipe of everything(flash superwipe) re partition your sd card than re flash rom.
Hey guys, I'm having a bit of a problem with CWMR.
I was on Asylum ICS 14 when I bought a new Transcend 32gb class 4 microsd card.
It worked fine for half a day and when I tried using MX video player later that night, the phone had stopped reading the microsd card.No amount of re-inserting the card would help. The card didn't work with my laptop (running Windows 7) and PC (running Linux) either. So I tried wiping data via CWMR but it shows the error--
Wiping data
Wiping cache
Error mounting /sdcard/.android_secure!
Skipping format
Format complete
I checked and the data gets wiped i.e. all the use apps and settings are cleared.
But the error repeats no matter how many times I've tried to wipe.
I tried flashing a stock GB firmware(KL3 to be exact)and I still get the same error. There is no real problem with the wipe,it works just fine.
Thanks guys
And yes, I've changed the microsd card-it's now a Strontium 32 gb class 10 card.
Not my fault really, my dad just went out and bought the Transcend one
Hmm...sorry about that...I didn't think me rating on my own thread would count !
This is common on pretty much every device out there, it's nothing to worry about.

It might be a problem with an update, because I'm suddenly having the same error. I'm about to backup my recovery.tar and try to install an older version. Xperia Play 4g with stock 2.3.3, rooted. I've made backups before, and can't find any info as to what a solution is.
The .android_secure folder is a super hidden folder that contains all data from when you move an app to your sd card.
What might be your problem is that you have two of them. One in internal storage and one on an external sd card. Try taking the external one out and backing your phone up to the internal one.

It happened to me also, try this take out your microsd, do factory reset (only on save kernels), format your microsd
Insert it, boot up your phone.
If I'm not wrong, there was a faulty cwmr , which cause this.
Update your kernel
Maybe your card is faulty.
I recently bought sandisk 32 gb card and put up in my galaxy note. It kept saying no card inserted. Same error on windows 7. And after that i come to know that its a factory fault. Got it replaced from the service center.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Fixed.
Flashed abyss kernel 4.2 and did a fullwipe.
Then went back to ParanoidAndroid.
Dunno what caused it, but I no longer care as its fixed
Sorry wrong thread.
Any fix? I need that android secure folder
So, I was using a 4gb SD card class 4 and it worked flawlessly, but a few days ago i bought a 32gb class 10 Sandisk SD and it worked just fine for a day, after doing http://acetips.wordpress.com/2011/09/19/how-to-force-install-apps-to-sd-card-without-root/ process. The next day, my cellphone got stuck and it restarted a few times, and every time it turned on it recognized some apps and others not. After that I formatted it from both my cellphone and from my pc and it kept happening. Sometimes, after turning on the cellphone it says the SD is damaged and asks me to reformat it again. I even reverted the process mentioned before and rooted the cellphone, but the SD is still buggy as hell.
Anybody has any idea as to why this might be happening?
Im using the Galaxy Ace s5830L with stock rom and kernel.

You can't force move apps to the SD without root cleanly. You'll get problems. That's the whole point of rooting and what it stands for. If you're still after your warranty, there's an unroot file with the rooting one depending where you got it from. There's a thread here on XDA with both files. Then you can just install your carrier's rom and you're good to go.
You will need root for A2SD, and even then you gotta be careful how you do it. There are some apps and scripts that do better jobs than other ones.

Yes, I reverted the process mentioned before and I rooted my phone and moved apps with Link2SD and the same thing happened. After rebooting my phone once it stopped recognizing some apps randomly (it says the ones that the phone doesn't recognize are not installed). But when I switch to my 4GB SD card it works fine. Then I formatted the card and the phone and tried to make a partition but as you know it didn't work.
Maybe it's a size problem, I don't know. It's not that I need that much space but I will not even think about space with that SD card and also I've already bought it, haha. I'll go to the store where I bought it tomorrow anyway.
Thank you again for your time!

Oh alright. Good thing you solved it. Also, I don't recommend Link2SD as it doesn't free that much space compared to better alternatives like INT2EXT+ or DT's A2SD.

Yes, I know that now. When I change the SD card or find what's the problem I'll start from the beginning and I won't use Link2SD.
what partition type did you put on your sd card? n its possible that the partition is corrupt i had a similar issue not so long back
i formated the whole sd card using minipartion tool then made a 2gd ext4 split works fine now
I followed this tutorial to make the partition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477996 (not sure what type of partition it is). But the SD card had been working bad before I tried to make the partition.
