Hey guys,
I know this may be a stupid question, but I just want to confirm it before I go on flashing a new rom.
Since most of the new ROMS are Windows 6.5, am I required to have the 6.5 OS on the phone first? or does the ROM itself come with the OS?
I'm currently on Tmobile and they don't have the 6.5 update yet
Thanks!
No worries at all about not having 6.5 already installed. Just be sure and follow the directions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
If you don't HardSPL, well...
Edit: I just noticed, you have Touch 3G. You'll want to find the appropriate forum for that phone. I think it's also known as a Jade(?).

Hi, I was just about to update my kaiser phone to duttys latest rom, however I read the all important thing do not update unless you have 6.1 professioanl compatible radio.
I have done a few searches and i'm not sure what exactly I am looking for, can someone please tell me or point me to a link which will install windows mobile 6.1
I take it before any rom updates are done I should install that Hard-SPL thing or whatever its called first
Read this and choose one of the 6.1 compatible ones.

A lot of people think that the Polaris radios work best from this link. I've tried them all and they all seem ok for me - but at the moment pretty much anything above 1.58.xx.xx will work with a wm6.1 rom - however you might need to try a couple if you have problems.

There's no official 6.1, just ported third party ROMs. Read the stickies. they will tell you everything you need to know.
As per my knowledge, WM6.1 is officially released for few smartphones only. The PPC version is not yet available.
For dummies like me,
smartphones = windows phone without touchscreen
PPC = Pocket PC = windows phone with touchscreen
There are phones out already with WM6.1 like the TYTNII. However I am aware that there are issues with some of the older programs like E-sword when it comes to the new framework of wm6.1

This rom(opentouch v7.1) is a wm 6.1 build. very smooth and nice looking. Just follow the directions exactly as they say. In my opinion, it is the best rom out there right now for the wing.

I know. My ROMs have a ported wm6.1 build, also. As far as the best rom, it really depends on what you want it to do for you.

Asking people to give you an opinion on the best ROMs is against forum rules. Not to be a stickler, but as it is peoples opinions, there are likely to be many different views as to which ROM is best. The best thing is to read this thread to be sure you have set up your phone correctly. You have 2 choices, either going the USPL or the HSPL route. You will see the pros and cons of each route in the thread.
I would also suggest reading the ROM threads in this forum where you will get a sense of how well the ROM is working ie any major bugs (or not) and then try a few of them yourself and see which one suits your needs best.
i still do not understand why opinionated posts are forbidden but anyway. until this thread gets closed, here is my opinion:
check out miri's rom because it has been very stable for a long time and a day after a new build is available you will get an updated rom.
just make sure that you also flash the latest radio rom.
prior to flashing make sure that you install hspl on your device.
for everything you need (hspl, radio, wm6.5 rom) there is a link in my signature.
Fast becoming a one-to-one Q&A thread
Please try searching & reading

anyone running this OS on their Diamond? If so, please link to download, and provide details on if it works well, smoothly, bugs, etc. I have searched but do not find a hardspl for my cdma diamond.
my understanding is I need to:
1. download 6.5 hardspl for Sprint cdma diamond
2. update the rom after the hardspl is loaded
Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks
There out their! LOOK! MightyROM is so far the best you just need Fave People, the picture mail app that sprint didn't make, and change the location the photos save at to using advance config

Man ... get yourself over to PPCGeeks and the Diamond upgrade forum. Plenty of info and roms to choose from.
note: the forums have been up and down the last couple of days, so you may have to wait until the issues are dealt with.

Precisely.
My favorites would be
STX
Mighty 6
Demolition
SSK
in that order as far as 6.5 is concerned. For 6.1, I would say Mighty 4 and intx 2.5 or premiere.
im running EnergyROM and love it
I'm on Mighty Rom 6, but the battery drains quicker than my stock rom. Any idea why?
Forgive the noob question but...If I install a cooked ROM on my Telus Diamond will I still have Telus functionality as in cell service, etc? Would Telus be able to tell and then cut my service or something? What would be the ramifications of installing another ROM? Other than the risk of bricking my device what, if anything, would I lose.
expire in 30 days
got it running great thru juicy rom , 6.5 is awesome, but says will wm6.5 pro will expire in 30 days. What?!?
Where can i get this update. I know im late but need it
Hi there and welcome to XDA i take it you have a TP2, you need to use Hard-SPL and read the sticky threads
Goodluck
Sigh
Bro come on... I hate rewarding laziness, but I'd feel bad not imparting any wisdom on you.
K. So since you didn't say what version of the TP2 you have, I'll tell you the basics. If you just want the stock (out of the box) upgrade to 6.5, which you probably do, go to htc.com There go to the search bar, and type in "__ touch pro 2" and fill in the "__" with your carrier. Click on your phone, then go to the downloads tab, and the update will be there. Just follow those instructions. But the moral of this story is to READ THE STICKY THREADS, and search a little before you post. It's more fun to find your own way, plus you get more out of it.

He doesn't need HardSPL if he has a phone where there's an official 6.5 upgrade available. Although HardSPL and a cooked ROM would be even better.
