Can someone please tell me why these icons look hideous on my phone, yet great on my computer. I have no clue as to why. They look great on the computer but when I change the image in the apk file they look awful. Does anyone have an idea as to why? Can someone please help. I have been trying all different png images from diff icon packs yet nothing works. Here is just a whole bunch. Some of them look awful while others look fine.

If your using droid on something else with higher res then generation 1 andros then that would be the answer. Or the icons were done very badly, use metamorph to change your icons to eclair.

Tried that already. That's where I got 1 set of android 2.0 icons from. I tried using metamorph and the icons were still ugly. Then I just tried this method and they still look awful.
EDIT: Here's another look at the market icon after I put it on. For some reason the 2.0 browser icon is fine on the phone but a lot of the others aren't.
Bump. Nobody knows? This has been driving me crazy for the past week.

Thats not compat with 1.5 though(is it?), the icons would be messy.Using icons packages can mess icons up, you should consider Metamorph, havent tried it on hero yet.

Yeah I already tried metamorph with the same results. The icons are still messed up. But for some reason its only some of them. I tried just simply switching the image in the apk file but that didnt work either.

LOL, really nice, im going to use it
I don't think you can use .gif files
what rom is this intended for?? if it's gif it can only be used in hero roms; eclair doesn't support animated .gifs.
Its not a gif Its just an imagesscrolling behin another image
No problems installing, works great
I'm using WGBuild 9.2
doesnt work with Black Ice for 4.2.8.1
i morph it and restart and it sticks with the blackice boot
so only works with stock cyanogen ?
Simply genius!
OMFG! i went to bed last night at 6am with the thought of someone doing this, Metamorphing this boot screen! IM SO GLAD IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! dghldhflsdfhsldkrhsalf

HILARIOUS!!!
Installed with MetaMorph
It installed just fine with MetaMorph 1.7, cyanogen 4.2.8.1 (My G1).
This morning, tried to install this on a friend's G1, cyanogen 4.2.4, and the new version of MetaMorph was downloaded, v1.8.1.
During installation getting error "Control file missing or cannot be found"
Anyone know what this is about? We re-downloaded the Metamorphed .zip file, but it's still the same...
Thanks
Bert
I've just updated MetaMorph to version 1.8.1, deleted piss.zip and piss folder from the AndroidThemes directory and applied it again, and everything went ok...
Are you sure Metamorph is correctly installed in your friend's phone?
with cyanogen vers. 4.2.11.1 dont go. i instaled this with metamorph 1.8.1 but if i restart only the cyanogen bootscreen is show...
please let me know with a pm if you had a solution. thanks a lot for your work.

Hi,
This is my first bootscreen that i made. I called it Drawing eclair since i use the original eclair logo from google. They already make a good logo so why dont we use it
I tested this bootscreen GSM Hero with Chocolate Eclair and Vanilla Eclair, i hope it works on any ROM (please let me know). And I hope you all like it
Edit :

Hello I don't have a hero but wanted to try this out. When I opened the zip fle, it contains metadata for mac (the __MACOSX folder). Does this affect flashing on your heros?
PS.
I'll actually create my own recovery .zip file but i'm curious about that..

ahh.. different directory. You are right. After i re-flash my chocolate eclair and then apply the boot animation, it didn't work. And I found another bootanimation.zip file on system/customize/resource/
I added some lines on the install script to delete the file first and then copy the new bootanimation file. Its working now (I think...) Correct me if I'm wrong

That will probably work but there's no need to delete other files than the original bootanimation.zip or if you want it to work for every ROM the bootanimation.zip in all directories where it could be (did that make sense?) (Can't test it since i'm running Cronos Froyo...)

Lol... patience, my young padawan. Turns out that the original xml posted in Droid Mechanics' blog was not compatible with the current CM6.1 source format, so I needed to edit that.. (something about id assignment) resuming compilation as we speak
EDIT: it also turns out that I've pushed my little lappy a bit too far; my linux partition is outta space. I'll continue work when I'm on my big machine again at home. Prolly later tonight (if I don't crash driving home through the snow )
Excellent Look forward to seeing this working.

Just quote his post to see the where hes used the bb tags
Okies... I've managed to get it working
But...
1) The carrier text is not displayed correctly (should be right-aligned)
2) This _will_ change your framework-res.apk. Having build it using CM6.2.0 RC0 (currently nightly), it _might_ not work on other ROMs.
Once I get the text properly aligned I will put up a framework-res.apk and a metamorph package for those who want to try
Cool Thanks for taking this on.
Ok, I've solved it
Now all I need to figure out is how to get it to you guys. What ROMs are you using?
Wow nice!
FroydVillain 1.7.2 over here
I've created a two options for you guys to try... but first:
DONT FORGET TO NANDROID
Having said that: I honestly do not know if this will work or not (my hero is also also my main phone and is currently running my own custom build of CM6.1), but for those brave enough to try here you go!
(all files can be found HERE)
Your options are to:
replace your framework-res.apk with one of these (this will reset any theme you've applied!):
(plain) Cyanogen 6.1 - Stable
Floyo 1.2.0
Froyd 1.7.2
or use a metamorph
(plain) Cyanogen 6.1 - Stable
Floyo 1.2.0
Froyd 1.7.2
Again, I have no clue if this will work, so backup first! I recommend a wipe of cache (and maybe dalvik) as well.
Post if it works or not. If this way turns out to be one big mess, I can share my private build, but hopefully this will work.

Alternative
If anyone would like an alternative honeycomb-esque one, I released one in the Captivate forums, but I figure I could share here too for anyone who wants to use it (or modify it). Make sure to uninstall any previous version beforehand.

And nicely done Kaik!I like how you did the edges of the inner box... Did you apply a lighter gaussian blur?
I used resources from the xoom dump and modified them instead of attempting to recreate the coloration/effect
Thanks AWESOME!!!
