If you were reading the phone settings then ignore that....The radio of the phone can be found via cam+power...
Yeah but what is the best version?? the 17U or 17H? I've been modding my G1 since it was possible and never came across this close of an ota version
There is only one radio that is avail for G1....
There is no best version...The roms are based off of OTA's taht are released or dumps that are made...
Thanks I'll try the 17H and if I don't like it go back to 17U

DO NOT FLASH A RADIO MEANT FOR A DIFFERENT DEVICE!!!!!! Doing so is one of the easier ways to brick your phone.
Have the G1 T-Mobile and would never flash the wrong radio. Been doing this to long.. Thanks for the advice though
Quick question been trying to upload a picture for my profile but keeps saying upload failed and it is less than the requirement. Nevermind got it now Thank you for all your help and for being able to gets some answers to other questions I have had in the past in this forum. You guys are great

I am trying to find information regarding the Rom that is on my HTC 8925.
When the phone boots up I do have a splash screen that says Dutty's Series.
I go into Settings>System>Device Information to find:
ROM version: Touch v6.1 WWE
ROM date: 02/19/08
Radio Version: 1.70.OliNex
Protocol version: 25.65.30.04h
What ROM do I have and where can I have find some information regarding this ROM? I have done some searches for Touch v6.1 WWE and Dutty v6.1 WWE, but to no avail.
Thank you in advance.
from the ROM date and the fact that u have a dutty's splash screen (which doesnt really accurately show what rom you are using) this would most likely be your rom.

any btw your radio is a patched radio that's used for unlocking. u might wanna update that

Thank you for responding.
How do I update my radio?
I am pretty green, when it comes to modifying anything like this. Plus, I do not want to do anything that I could possibly render my phone useless for awhile, since I do not know what I am doing.
Thank you for your assistance.
Radio Upgrade
Do I really need to upgrade my radio?
I am frankly scared to death to do anything like this with my phone in the fear of bricking it.
Thank you.

Ill help you out. What you do is go into the radio thread and down load a different radio. I use 1.65.21.18 with Josh's new 6.5 super ram. When you download the file it will show up like a new rom. Flash it like you would a rom. and you are done. It really is trial and error to find the one that works best in your area. If you need any more help just let me know. I was the new guy not to long ago so I feel your pain. While in the radio thread read all the posts when you can and it will help.

If everything is working ok for you then not really but the right radio will help with batt life and signal. Are you having any issues at all?

I have only had the phone about a month, so I am just trying to get use to it. So, If I am having trouble with signal and/or battery, I may not know it as of yet.
Once again, I am very leary about flashing.
I was to My first time, but once you learn how and get used to it you will love trying out different roms

I know exactly how you feel Grey, but I thought sod it, best bet (someone correct me if i am wrong) hold down the camera key and hold in the soft reset button. If it comes up with the tricolour screen and it says something like SPL-1.0.OliPof. If that comes up the scary bit has been done and someones already put HardSPL on the phone. Chances are they have if you already have a custom ROM on it.
Now the hard bit will be is what ROM to put on it. Just read how to flash it but the easiest way is to do it from the SD card, and always flash the HTC stock ROM between custom ROMS, it helps u avoid any problems.
Not Sure Which One I Have. I Think So Far i have counted 3 Different Radios. Does anyone know which one is the latest/stable radio and also where to get it? I Tried searching but didnt find it.
Thanks.
ERE 72 is the stock one that came with phone.
ERE 27 is the update 1
ERE 36B is the new Leaked version!!
hope this helped

CM 5.0.2 (I don't recall when the change happened over to 36B but I know for a fact that 5.0.2 was based on it as I just moved from that to 5.0.4.1) was based on 36B. So all roms following until a newer software update happens...

The jury's still out on whether it's better. I haven't heard definitive evidence that it's better with 3G or anything, and I assume there's a reason it hasn't been released OTA yet, so I'm sticking with ERE27.
Noob question but what's this radio being discussed?
I mean is it for music radio or for signal reception and how do I upgrade mine on my stock N1?

The radio is for network connectivity..or as you put it "signal reception". If you got the OTA update to 2.1-update1, then you have the latest "official" Radio. I wouldn't bother flashing the unreleased version as there's zero benefit and, as I said earlier, there's probably a reason why HTC/Google didn't release it OTA.
Also, since you're admittedly a noob... I would make sure you research a lot about flashing Radio's prior to even starting the process. A guy just bricked his phone trying to flash to the unreleased Radio because he was in your position..don't be stupid.
I respect uansari1 but on this point I've got to chime in.
I've been running the stock ROM, flashed the OTA ERE27 update and had worse performance from my radio and data connection. More times then not I found the N1 sitting in Edge and even GPRS mode.
So.... I unlocked the bootloader (voiding my warranty), loaded RA's recovery image, ran nandriod and did a backup, rooted the phone and loaded the new radio rom. Post #21 found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=632282&page=3
Since then I've noticed the phone staying in 3G way more than before and even better battery performance.
Still using the stock ROM.
As with any flashing READ READ READ and understand what's happening before you decide to jump into the deep end.....
duplicate post - my bad. Removed.
ok hey guys i was wondering, Once you root your phone and install a custom rom is there any way to go all the way back to the original rom and unroot? i also wanted to know how do we know if we need to update the radio? or does that only apply to gsm phones?

The search button is there, so I would use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654119
Thats not ONLY for unrooting, but it has the steps there to get back to 100% stock and unroot.
As far as I know, there isn't really a way of knowing if you NEED to flash an updated radio, but there's no harm in trying the ones available, and seeing if you notice any difference in them.
thanks. and yea your right i blanked out about the search bar. lol ok but about the radio, i can update it and everything will be fine?
Before updating your radio make sure it's for CDMA and not GSM. Before I knew what I was doing with my phone I applied a GSM radio update and bricked my phone.
If you are running a 1.5 based ROM there really isn't a need to update the radio.
does that also count if im going to install the pancake 2.1 rom?
pankcake 2.1 is a 2.1 ROM. Check the Baseband version under Setting->About Phone->Software Information to see what version you are running after you flash pancake 2.1. If you would like to upgrade check out "Radios" section on the CDMA Hero ROMs at
wiki . xda-developers . com / index . php ? pagename = CDMA %20 Hero %20 ROMs
(Had to split up URL since I'm a noob user on the forum.)
geekfor . me also has a nice radio section.
And as flipz states
Different radios work differently depending on where you are in the country. You may actually get better performance out of another radio. Test them out.

oh wow. different radios =better signal! how cool! i am really worried about bricking my phone. I need my phone and i really want to but im scared. im trying to learn all i can befor i do it. can you un brick?
Sent from my HERO200 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
You can't unbrick all you can do is replace. I was able to get a replacement phone when I bricked my phone by applying a GSM radio update by mistake.
If you apply a CDMA radio update from the Radios section on the CDMA Hero ROMs wiki page then you should be good. Follow the instructions on the Geek For Me FAQ. Flipz knows his stuff.
As with any update I recommend doing a nandroid backup before you apply it just in case the update has undesired affects.
I'm currently running 2.42.00.03.10 on Fresh 2.0d with no issue.
Good luck!
Okay, so since I'm no longer able to get OTA updates (using CM 5.0.7.1 and Amon-Ra recovery), it looks like I'm going to have to flash the radio myself (which, admittedly, is a pretty frightening prospect) when I move to either Froyo or CM 5.0.8.
Other than the fact I can't really find a download link (maybe I don't know where to look) for the 4.06 (Froyo?) radio, I'm also wanting to keep a copy of my current radio (4.04) around, just in case. The download link down in the Development section for 4.04 is version 32.26.00.24U_4.04.etc, and the one my phone uses is 32.26.00.24H_4.04.etc (difference being H instead of U).
Does that one letter difference matter? I'm on an AT&T Nexus One, so I don't know if the other is for the T-Mobile phones or what, or if they're compatible, etc, since I really don't know a whole lot about the different radios.
I'm not going to flash the radio today or anything, just looking to get the last of my questions answered. Thanks!

I'm an idiot, because I bookmarked that page earlier this morning, so I'd have the download link. Does the one letter difference (U to H) on the 4.04 radio not matter then?

If you're going to Froyo or CM 5.0.8 you'll need 32.36.00.28H_4.06.00.12_7.

The download link is for 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2. So, the U and the H do matter?
And is there any difference in the H and U version?
I had the H Version on for the last week and just installed the U version for testing.

Sorry for stupid 'noob' question but I have flashed about 4 or so different ROMs so far and know what to do on that end, should I just stick to the custom ROMs or can I play with kernels and what to look for also with this radio '20.2811.30.085AU_3805.09.03.27_M' is this the radio that I should have put in awhile ago to keep my InS up to date?
Sorry

Radios are always a mystery. Once in a while people find new radio version from new RUU/OTA but you can never find any official words on them. So all you can do is flash them and see if there's any difference. But worse still, some difference/enhancement might be carrier specific.
Personally, I found 3822.11.08.29 and later versions are best for my case.
