Not sure about rotate stats, but battery stats wipe is useful when getting a new battery or re-calibrating your old one.
from the thread where you got the recovery image:
* [Alt+3] Wipe battery stats : Wipe the battery stats in /data
* [Alt+4] Wipe rotate settings : Wipe the sensor settings in /data
Simply deletes these files. It's thought that if you fully charge, delete the battery data file, use your phone completely, recharge fully that your phone's battery stats are changed and helps battery life.
Not sure about screen rotation.... never had an issue with it. Obviously it just deletes a file which is recreated on boot.
older roms would have problems with the accelerometer working. clearing those got it to work again
sorry for digging out this old thread...
but what file will be deletet regarding the accellerometer/rotate settings?

most people know about the fix for the battery going flat quickly
my question is
when you go to recovery>wipe we normally wipe top 3 options
will this wipe the batterystats.bin file without selecting the 4th option
if so why are we not told to have a fully charged phone before we wipe and install new roms??
this could be the main problem with people saying this rom is a battery drainer not using this anymore!!!!!!!!
BatteryCalibrator.apk
Hey guys,
I quickly threw together this battery calibration app - enjoy!
Please note: for ROOTED phones only and use at your own risk.

So, can anyone explain to me why i'd want to clear batt stats in CWM?
What does it do?
Should i do it at almost 0% or at 100% or does'nt it matter?
You should clear your batterystats after flashing a new rom to prevent the old stats from your previous rom showing false values. It should be done when your battery is fully charged.
I use the Battery Calibration app - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024867
Honestly, it does bugger all in my experience.
And also it shouldn't matter if you clear them before or after flashing a new rom, if it's wiped it's wiped, no?

Same here.
I do it sometimes if I want to, but I haven't really seen any difference. (Even back in my Milestone.
Hi guys,
does factory reset wipe battery stats?
thanks
I'm pretty sure not, but not 100% certain! I think battery status come from the battery chip, if so, then no!
Insanity cm033/platypus neo9 redux 5
No it doesnt. If you have cwm installed then select 'advanced' and you will see the option to wipe battery stats.
No it does not wipe the battery status. Normally i'm doing it in recovery mode.
Thanks for your answers on this, I needed to know the same thing
dont wipe battery stats anyway, it is counter productive, much better to drain/fully charge a couple of times, because in future when you only partially charge/give it a quick top up, the intermediate data between full and empty is valuable reference data for such situations....also dont bump charge, its crap!
Wiped a lot of times, never wiped bat stats
Having flashed GinSense, and it's been working fine for the last few days, the battery percentage was pretty inconsistent, so I tried the method of charging, deleting the battery stats, then letting it empty the charge and then charging back to full.
I got the battery stats point, deleted it, now it's stuck at the G1 splash.
WTF.
I had to rewipe the phone, and now it's working again, but anyone know why something so weird would happen?
I think you only had to wipe dalvik cache. If it happened on my phone (samsung galaxy 3) i'm sure it would have been a problem with dalvik cache. Not sure about yours but it could have been the same.
Normally when i wipe battery stats no problem like this occurs and i never wipe anything.
Search Battery Calibration in the Market and use it. It better.

No, it's not better. It does the same thing. I used it on my phone with another rom a few months back, and the same thing happened. I got a random reboot, then it wouldn't boot past the splash.
Anyway, I ended up just re-flashing my rom, so I guess we'll see how it goes in the future, and wiping dalvik if it happens.
I updated to the CM7.1 from rooted NC1.3 by using clockwork-3.0.2.8 on SD card
recently. Before I install the CM7.1 and latest gapps 20110828, I format the
system, data, boot. Everything seems perfect until I found this battery drain
problem.
My NC's battery life is very bad on CM7.1. I don't expect it can perform as stock 1.3,
but what I experience is terrible. I checked the "Battery use" and found that "Android OS"
almost occupy whole battery usage, over 60%. It seems my NC doesn't sleep or go to
suspend. I found a old thread mentioned about the same problem, but it is quiet old CM
nightly. Is there anyone in the some situation like me with CM7.1 stable?

Only time I've had such stuff happen was with bad software, particularly widgets, being used.
I would also recommend updating to one of the latest nightly releases of CM7 as well. I forget when, but there was a deep-sleep fix introduced a while back that made a huge improvement in battery life. Despite the name, the nightlies are generally very stable at this point.

Same here. On my phone I had an app that would drain the battery overnight while it was plugged in and charging.
Here is the thread I started before about this issue. You can read what I went through to eliminate various culprits:

Thanks for the comment. I am in nightly 250 now, just format catch, wipe dalvik cache and install the
cm_encore_full-250.zip over the 7.1 stable. This battery drain problem still there.
This time, I found a reboot (hold power key to shoot down and boot it again) can temporarily fix it.
Leave the NC along without playing with it, the deep sleep does work and no more battery drain.
But it comes back when I just play the cordy game downloaded from market. I play the game for
few minutes, then exit it correctly by click the exit button of the game. Leave the device for awhile
and the "Android OS" comes back. It start to drain my battery again. Seems the game starts a service
or application on the background.
I download the "Advance task killer" and use it to kill those service, application I don't use from the
list. But I still losing my battery very fast because of the "Android OS". Any good idea??

Thanks for your sharing of this thread. I do found some useful info. in it.
Now my battery drain issue is gone, but I don't know which action I did
take effect.
This is what I did. Format cache, Wipe dalvik cache, install cm_encore_full-253.zip,
apply signal_bar-kernel-patch-SOD.zip, reset battery stats and fix permission.
Then reboot. No more battery drain caused by "Android OS".

Install CPU spy and you can verify sleep and CPU stepping rates.
