[MetaMorph] [Stericson's Lockscreen] Change Lockscreen Background - Android Themes

PLEASE DO A NANDROID BEFORE TRYING.
One of the things I’ve most liked about Hero was the ability to change the lockscreen background. I had an application named Lockbot from the Market, and though it’s a nice app, I found that it would drain my battery real quick. Plus, I would have random problems like the Notification Bar locking up and no SMS or Handcent pop-ups. I also really missed not being able to control my music like I could with the Stericson Lockscreen. So, I made a real quick and easy way to change the background using MetaMorph. It looks like a lot of steps, but once you get this set up, all you have to do is change 1 file, and you can change the background to anything you like. This is so easy, I don’t know why no one has posted this before.
Instructions:
Download Lockscreen-Background and unzip it. Put it in the AndroidThemes folder on your SD card. DO NOT RENAME THE FOLDER
Navigate through all the folders. framework-res> res> drawable
There you will find a picture named “zzlockscreenback.png”
Replace that picture with any png you like as long as it’s 320X455 and rename it to “zzlockscreenback.png”
1. Open MetaMorph
2. Click on “Existing Theme”
3. Navigate to folder named “AndroidThemes”
4. Click on folder named “Lockscreen-Background”
5. Put a check next to file named “Lockscreen-Background”
6. Click “Ok”
7. Click “Apply All”
8. Reboot your phone when prompted
9. Enjoy your new Lockscreen Background
Next time you want to change the wallpaper, just replace the “zzlockscreenback.png” to anything that you like, reapply the Metamorph, reboot, and you are all set.

I have included the background that is in the 3rd screenshot with my MetaMorph.
The theme I am using is djengizz's Alternative Eclair lockscreen cause I think it looks real nice. I made a slight mod to it and made the gray bar at the bottom completely transparent, and have included it in this post, if you want it.
You can get Stericson's Lockscreen here.
Special thanks to djengizz and Stericson as they have done all the work. I've just made slight changes.

It's working great for me. Thanks a lot, i've been looking for a way to do this for a while!

No problem. Glad to hear that you found it useful.

Would this work on dwang ROM?

It'll work if he's ported over the Stericson Lockscreen. Might also work on a stock rom without the lockscreen, but I haven't tested it. You might want to make a Nandroid before applying just in case.

it didnt work on mine...do i need to install The Stericson Lockscreen( dont know how to couldnt find any instructions)
i did exactly wat you said...still have the default locksreen

If you're using Cyanogen's rom, a link to the Stericson Lockscreen is provided in the first post. If you are using a different rom, you might need to ask the rom developer to compile the Stericson Lockscreen for their rom.
I'll see if there is something that can be done with the default vanilla lockscreen, but I am away from home and won't have a chance to look at it until later tonight.

you could try making the image toast_frame.9.png in framework-res.apk/res/drawable the sizing that you are using for the lockscreen image and see how that turns out, since that is the image that controls the default lockscreen.

well i went to his website and downloaded the "attachments_8_.zip Lockscreen for Cyan 4.1.11.1" but theres 5 files...android.policy.jar framework.jar services.jar framework-res.apk settings.apk ...what do i do with those files...do i just run framework.apk and settings.apk??

Once you have the Stericson Lockscreen file, you have to flash it in recovery. Once you flash it, it'll be installed. Once it's installed, you can flash my MetaMorphs. Remember, MetaMorphs are themes. You can't theme something that is not installed.

Thanks for the heads up David. From what I understand, .9.png images need to be edited using Eclipse, which I don't have, but it's worth a try if a brave soul wants to try it and report back. Just be sure you do a Nandroid first.

You need to flash the entire Zip file from the Stericson Lockscreen link in the OP. You would flash just like you would flash any rom. If you have questions or problems with that, read up on the directions and troubleshooting in the Stericson link. Just make sure you are flashing the correct lockscreen for your rom.

Looks like you unzipped the Stericson Lockscreen and didn't resign it. Redownload Stericson's Lockscreen again and flash it. Don't unzip it or mess with it. Once you have it on your phone, follow my instructions.

Loving this bro...kudos to you.
BTW if your having problems resizing your pics to 320X455...heres a site that will help you out

Here is the image:
Just rename to zzlockscreenback.png, put in the correct folder, and apply through MetaMorph.

I'm flashing the modded lockscreen using metamorph but its taking a long long time, its been going for like 20 minutes already and it still says please wait and the icon's still ticking round, the phones not frozen because i can pull the taskbar down, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Am i doing something wrong?
ps. have already flashed stericson screen and tried the background change, worked perfect, good job, just trying to get the modded screen now.

It shouldn't take that long to flash either of them. There are no changes to the framework, just the images, so you should be safe if you kill it with a task manager and retry it. Better yet, restart your phone and try it again. Hopefully that works for you.

[MOD/THEME/TUT] Battery Indicator Theme

Warning! Applying a theme to the battery icon involves modifying system files and will more than likely brick your phone unless you are 100% sure on what you are doing or have a good back/restore solution
Big thanks to Fightspit for his original thread on creating these battery themes
Here is an example theme i've attached below (see pre-made theme.zip)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and here is it in action
There are 2 quite serious prerequisites to this mod
1) Must be rooted with S-OFF
2) ClockworkMod installed and a backup taken (Please, please, please, do this in case of failure)
To create a theme from scratch.
1) Grab the source files for the theme of your choice from this thread
2) Grab APK Manager 4.9 from here
3) Download framework-res.apk from your "system/framework" folder using adb or root explorer
4) Place your downloaded framework-res.apk in APK Manager's "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder
5) In APK Manager choose option 22 to set current project
6) choose option 9 to decompile apk
7) replace battery xml files in folder "res/drawable" and pngs in folder "res/drawable-hdpi" within the extracted "projects/framework-res" folder that APK Manager creates
8) Choose option 11 to compile
9) Select "y" is system apk
10) Select "y" replace original folders
11) In the "keep" folder that APK Mananger has created, delete resources.arsc
and the battery xml files in "res/drawable" and the battery pngs in "res/drawable-hdpi"
12) Press any key and let APK recompile
13) In the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder, rename unsignedframework-res.apk to framework-res.apk
14) Extract the attached "Blank Update.zip.zip" then Open up the update.zip with 7zip
15) Drag your renamed framework-res.apk to the "framework" folder in 7zip to overwrite the existing blank framework-res file
16) Close update.zip (agree to any messages about updating the file)
17) Copy update.zip to your sdcard
18) Flash the update.zip via ClockworkMod
My Pre-made battery theme
This contains the android battery theme I posted above, already to flash
Warning! This was made for software version 1.32.405.6 - You may get errors if running a different version to me. If so, restore using clockworkmod
1) Extract attached "Pre-made theme.zip" and copy update.zip to your sdcard
2) Flash the update.zip via ClockworkMod

v2 Colour - Added version with coloured status bar icons
Big thanks for this tutorial!
I love the look of this! Will need to install Clockwork Mod etc of course before I use it, but I will look into this soon
Just to clarify, is it possible to get only the battery mod without the other coloured icons? Is Pre-made themeV2.zip only the battery yes? And the colour version is all the icons?

Whilst I appreciate you gave a guide on how to make our own, I'm really not very graphically talented, would it be possible to have one where the numbers are clearer?
I love the little android, but I have to hold my phone right up to my face to see the actual percentage
Thanks though, have to have % visible
Sorry I didn't make the images. They were taken from this thread. You could maybe ask over there if anyone could help you though
Ahh, cool, I used the online kitchen to make my own, pretty awesome!
I've flashed my own one, but now I've lost all the colourful other icons. I assume if I flash them back over, I lose my battery icon, right?

Just out of interest, did you flash the zip file that the kitchen generated? It wouldn't work for me.
You can just add the icons back into the framework-res.apk (the one you had with the battery icons) and reflash

Actually I think you can build a version with the battery and icons using the online kitchen. You select the icons on the "Themed Icons" set page

Not really sure to be fair. I just used the clockworkmod that is kicking around in the dev section as it is the only way i'm comfortable with to flash update.zip files. There may be others ways to achieve the same thing though

Is anyone else using the online kitchen to build these battery themes?
It keeps generating folders with v4 at the end, ie drawable-hdpi-v4
The folders in the framework-res on my stock rom doesnt have -v4 at the end like so "drawable-hdpi". I believe this is why I keep getting force close when I flash the file from the online kitchen
yes some kitchens do that. thats why i prefer doeing it manually or checking with theme porter. i always check the res folders for these annoying -vX endings.
I thought so, it's just that someone mentioned in this thread that the kitchen work for them and i'm just trying to figure out how since it does add the pesky -v4 to whatever it cooks for me.
Manually is the way to go
Just out of interest, what does theme porter do?
i checks 2 files (old and new) for updated pngs, and copies them across.
very useful when you actually have a theme already, but simply want to port it (i.e due to an update of the framework res by the manufactorer). This does it for you. Not as sophisticated as apk-manager true

[Theme][MetaMorph] Minimal White (1/29/11)

Theme created to be used by MetaMorph, please don't try to flash the file. The .zip is attached to the post.
(TL;DR)
I was trying to make a minimalistic theme for my phone without modding anything, but those green Gingerbread icons were cramping my style. So I went and made these simple manual modifications for just myself, because, surprisingly, I found them nowhere else online, so I'm releasing them packaged so they can be applied using MetaMorph.
I realize that the world does not in fact revolve around me, and that you guys use different applications/do different things, so that's why I intend to keep this "updated". Please request any icons and I will make them and add them in updates.
(/TL;DR)
(READ, YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT)
I've only used this package on Serendipity 4.3, but the icon files should be universal, however I will not make any promises. If you're brave enough, please test this on your phone and get back to me. I'll keep a list of compatible phones in the second post as well.
Also note that the LauncherPro dock and icons are not currently packaged with this theme. When I get to it (sometime later today/tomorrow), I will upload another zip with anything necessary for LauncherPro.
Same goes for my lockscreen. I'm using a modded WidgetLocker, and I will upload the files sometime later today or tomorrow, but I will not upload the APK, as it's a paid app.
I'll write up a tutorial on how to mod WidgetLocker in the third post.
(/r,yldoi)
The changelog can be found in the second post!
Currently themed:
Gmail (status icons only)
framework-res (most icons in status bar)
Vending (status icons only)

Tutorials
When you download the file, unzip it. It is not the MetaMorph zip, but it has the MetaMorph zip inside of it (MetaMorph zip folder).
Steps to do things:
Install font
Install MinimalisticText Widget
Install/customize LauncherPro
Install/customize WidgetLocker
Apply MetaMorph Theme
1. Install Font
The font.zip file is included in the Extras folder. Copy that to the root of your SD card any way you want...
1. ADB (Assuming you're on Unix based OS, if not, replace commands as necessary)
1. $ cd ~/[font.zip directory]/
2. $ adb push font.zip /sdcard/font.zip2. Mount SD Card to Computer
1. Make sure USB Debugging is enabled. If not, 'Settings' > 'Applications' > 'Development' > 'USB debugging'
2. Right click/copy font.zip to root of the phone's internal SD card. After font.zip is on your phone, boot into Clockwork Recovery and apply the zip file. Once that's done, reboot. Your font should be changed.
2. Install MinimalisticText Widget
This one is easy. Go to the Market and download MinimalisticText. Then create the widgets that I have using it. I will not walk you through how to create widgets with MinimalisticText, as it's too complicated to type up. Trust me, you'll figure it out.
3. Install/customize LauncherPro
If you do not already have LauncherPro installed, please do so now...
Once installed, put the LauncherPro dock and launcher icons inside of the DCIM folder on your internal SD card. You may also put the provided wallpaper there if you'd like to use it.
Editing the dock image:
On the home screen, press 'Preferences', then 'Appearance Settings'. 'Dock background' is the first option; select it.
Select 'Custom' and find the custom dock image. That's it!Assigning custom launcher icons:
Long press the space on the dock that you would like to change. Then select 'Change shortcut' and change it to what action you would like completed. Then select 'Change icon', and select 'Custom icon'. Browse to the icon you'd like to use and select it. Your done!
PS: To make the arrow on the left open the app drawer, long press it and press 'Change shortcut' and select 'App Drawer'.
4. Install/customize WidgetLocker
This is a bit more in-depth. There's a perfect tutorial in this thread. The only thing that you must do is after you compile and sign the APK, uninstall WidgetLocker from your phone, then instead of putting 'com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker-1.apk' in the /data/app/ folder, put it into /system/app. Otherwise, if you reboot your phone, it will disappear.
5. Apply MetaMorph Theme
This one should be a given. Download and install MetaMorph, push the 'minimal-white.zip' to /sdcard/AndroidThemes, open MetaMorph and select the zip file as a new theme, then apply it. Be sure to apply framework-res.apk last! otherwise your phone may not install the other mods.
More to come soon, probably

Sorry I stopped/never did really update this; I don't really have the time.
But to answer your question: yes! It should work on any Serendipity versions. I'm not currently running the theme, and have lost interest in using it, so I'm not going to flash it over my Serendipity 5.7.
Anyway, one thing that may help you realize that this will work: unlike CWM themes, this one only replaces/adds files that are going to be changed. If the file isn't changed, then it will not replace it. By that, I don't mean that it will replace framework-res.apk. I mean that it will only replace the files inside framework-res.apk, so if there's anything that Mikey added (for example, the rotary lockscreen), it won't be touched. Only the themed icons will be changed. Hope that makes sense
dowloading this theme!!! looks sick
screenshots are broken.
Alright thanks man. I tried it on serendipity 5.7 and its working just as it did on 4.3, and looks just as cool. Since it looks like your pictures on the first page arent working, here's what the status bar looks like, which is the only file I flashed, for anyone interested. Goes great with all the white on my homescreen.

[Battery] Crysis eVolution - New easy installation method [17.03]

Hello Guys
I have designed a glow circle battery for my own use, but I decided to post it here so you may use it in case you like it
The battery was developed on a i9000, but I analyzed the framework from captivate and it seems that this procedure will work on captivate also. Please try and feedback.
If you like my work, please consider a small donation to help me continue developing.
Change log:
17.03.2011
-Reorganized the threat so everyone could easily mod his own framework. Follow the new installation instructions
-Added CWM file only with script so you can use it with your framework file safely.
-Uploaded new reorganized image packages.
14.03.2011
-added new charger images. -- Beams -- ( i might rework them in the next days) --
-added missing images for full charge and so on...
-I will modify tomorrow morning the threat, with new reorganised files cause it became a little confusing
03.02.2011
CAUTION:
Flash only if you have DOC's ROm, because some users stated that on Darky they had problems. Not sure why, because it should work - they're both deodexed roms. Do a BACKUP
-Added CWM files for V1, V2 - with percentage and clear at charging
-Working to a new animation for charging, a lot better than this one, but I can;t tell you when it will be ready because I have a lot to work for my school
02.02.2011
Finished creating charging icons and XML editing for animation. I Added two versions of the framework:
-Version 1 : loops the circle animation continuous, without showing the current amount of battery after each loop
-Version 2 : Shows after each loop the amount of battery
01.03.2011
I just created another battery with life indicators on the margins
INSTALLING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Download 3 packs: one with images of the battery (batt1 or batt2), one of the chargers (Glow, or BEAMS) and one of the charging animation images (with percentage and without).
2. Download CWM_update.zip
3. Place the files from the battery pack and charger inside your framework-res.apk file, in /res/drawable-hdpi.
4. Place the file from charging script inside your framework-res.apk file, in /res/drawable
5. put the modified framework-res.apk file inside the framework folder, of the CWM_update.zip.
6. Reboot in CWM.
7. Clear cache.
8. Clear Dalvik.
9. Flash the file.
10 Reboot and enjoy

Looks sick! I'm going to have to try it tomorrow
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Nice work dude.
Real nice!
I already used these for a test port. I think it looks better on the computer screen than on the phone. Or it could have been that the other icons need to match better. Actually, i'm sure it would look better in a complete theme.

1. I am refering at the folder drawable, in wich you must put the charging XML, not file drawable.
2. I recomend the CWM update methos, as you might get bootloops or FC with Root Explorer
That may cause some problems dropping a compiled xml in to a different framework as some of the reference ids might be different. Dragging png files in is never a problem though... as long as you can live with the current xml files.

no man, not that;s what i mean. the battery, the charger, and the XML for making the animation are put in separate packages. all these packages must be combined, at your preference, in your framework-res.apk file. (you open the framework-res.apk with WINRAR and then you put the images in the folder drawable-res-hdpi and the xml in drawable. TAKE CARE to save the file with no compression!!! after that, put the file in CWM_updater, in framework folder. THIS FILE (cwm_updater) you will flash with CWM. Got it?

I figured it would be easier for me to maintain a separate thread for these ports and easier for all of you to find the ports themselves.
All credit for the original artwork goes to artoodeetoo. The only thing I did was port and add 100% icons for the tiamat rom, so all props go to him.
I assume no responsibility for anything you might do to your xoom...that being said, I have personally tested both of these and my xoom is still running.
Directions
1. Download the file specific for your device
2. Flash using CWR

There is one for that posted by the original creator. You can just flash that one and you should be good.
Edit: I just saw that his wasn't a flashable zip so I made one for ya...its in the OP now
Regarding Moray charging animation : I find the animation continues when fully charged in stock Moray too, so probably not something you did. Going to download and try this now :-D

OK seemed to install great on my UK Wifi Moray setup! Whoo!
Can anyone post the wallpaper used in the screenshots? Mine stayed at the one I had before.
Managed to set up the Beautiful Widgets themes after going back to the main thread and reading those installation instructions.
Will be setting up Circle Launcher stuff once I've managed to purchase it (having some issues atm)
awesome will try it asap

Yeah I have the same issue.need the wall paper
Also my icons didn't change nor did the clock widget. What is the name of it to download from beautiful widgets? Any idea about the icons? I may try to wipe and start fresh but was sad when most of the changes did not show up. Love the boot animation by the way

The beautiful widget icons and circle launcher icons need to be installed manually. Unzip the .zip you downloaded to install the theme.
There are two folders that you're looking for in particular: sdcardExtras and sdExtras2
sdcardExtras contains the beautiful widget themes:
Move the "BatterySGC" folder from inside there to /sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/bskins
Move the "ClockSGC" folder from inside there to /sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/scskins
Move the "WeatherSGC" folder from inside there to /sdcard/data/beautifulwidgets/wskins
The themes will now appear in the lists when you customise Beautiful Widgets under "Appearance"
sdExtras2 contains the icons that you can set using Circle Launcher. This requires the paid for version in order to be able to use "custom icons". I assume you just create a widget that's a shortcut to the app you want and give it the icon you want from inside this folder, though as I said I had trouble purchasing earlier so haven't had chance to experiment

Hmmm I had a bskins folder but it was empty, so my guess is yes you can just create it. Make sure it's named correctly though, mine is all lowercase.
Not had chance to play with it since I installed this morning, so not had chance to test the browser yet, sorry.

Yeah I tried that but the image doesn't show...also my market is having problems downloading circle launcher. Keeps saying that I need to sign in to my account then when I do, it endlessly downloads..sigh
Try deleting the bskins folder you made, and creating a battery widget using Beautiful Widgets, and trying to download a battery theme for it, see if it creates the folder for you?
I got Circle Launcher declining purchase and not declining and various things, so I refunded it, and I'll try later when it's had chance to process all the changes.

I am going to set up the circle launcher now so I can verify it working. I will confirm that it works later. As far as beautiful widgets, I just don't use them so I don't know if they work.
EDIT: I think there may be an issue with the gallery on tiamat because any new images I put on the sd card do not show up in the gallery so I can't set a custom icon
EDIT 2: Flash this to fix your gallery:will be posted after class (about noon CST)

Hmmm come to think of it I haven't actually tried a widget of the battery so I don't know if mine works for that either....and still waiting for someone to post the wallpaper too
Also the .nomedia files aren't working for me: the images I copied to the BW folders and the circle launcher icons are all showing in my gallery
I tried to flash this and I get an error. I'm using US Wifi only and I flashed Moray.
Did you definitely flash the right port?

I chose this one:
Stargate for Moray
MD5: fc40163fee5b92ddb9d437d0087b54ee
I downloaded the file again and I'm getting the same error. By the way I'm using Rogue Recovery 1.1.0 (CWM). Here is the output when I try to flash the file:
Stargate is being applied now...
Extracting Data Files...
Extracting Extra Files to SD Card...
E: Error in /sdcard/StargateMoray.zip
(Status 0)
Installation Aborted
I deleted the old file before downloading the file again. Any tips would be appreciated.

Art posted the wallpaper in the other thread. My issue was apparently you cannot post both battery and weather icon at the same time on the super clock and to use battery only you need to check it on the drop down in appearance tab.

Hey tyler, why not do the same thing I did and add backup and restore to a seperate page called "Nandroid Option" or something? I can give you my xml code for it. I also replaced "Restore" on the home screen with "About Theme" to give people information on it and also, I set the "Backup" button on the main screen to Nandroid Options Let me know what you think.

Good idea, but personally I like the interface it has right now. Just a personal prefrence
I like that^ but personally think it'd be better without all the ics icons. Good stuff guys!

Wow latest update looks great. Would be cool if you could add ICS progress bar and fonts. Just an idea.
I just flashed something and that red background was "alarming" I thought I funked something up. Also the text was a little hard to read with the red background . Maybe black instead to red for the background?
There is a bug on the last page of data whip the menus carry over to that page. FYI.

The splash can't be modified. I was told by the programmer, they put that image into the C code
Thanks for the bug report. I just fixed it
here's a little something i made for the masses to flash TWRP and automatically have your theme https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D315775_7173530_083842
its a bat file for windows that auto reboots to bootloader erases recovery and flashes TWRP for the GSM NEXUS S (T-mobile /att / rogers )
Sorry sprint users
Simple download this extract it and run RecoveryFlasher.bat
it adb pushes the ui.zip to the correct folder on the sdcard to avoid confusion
if anyone finds any issues with it let me know
please note you must already have an unlocked bootloader and adb and fastboot drivers for it to work
Installed the theme this morning, doing a restore does not show the "Enable MD5 checking of backup files" text and checkbox. I can see a little line belonging to the checkbox but the rest is covered. Thanks, excelent theme.

Thanks for this theme, by the way. It looks lovely on my EVO 4G. But I agree, the on-screen button aren't needed, since the hardware buttons work fine within recovery (at least they do on the EVO).
