I have an unlocked G1 and wanted to know if I could use boost mobile with it. Considering there's a sim card with boost phones...
And if so, would i loose out on any features? internet? market?
Boost runs on the iDen network, which does not support GSM radio bands, so no.
Hey, this is Rachel from Boost Mobile. To answer you question, a Boost Mobile SIM will only work in a Boost Mobile handset. Any other phone would not be compatible with the technology. Hope that helps.
Okay... I'm done answering stupid questions on Q&A. I'm getting a headache and I'm feeling really pessimistic about the knowledge of smart phone users.
I'm out. Sorry. I just can't do this anymore tonight.

Common sense alone would tell him that boost doesnt use sim cards and the G1 is a GSM phone.
Lol, do you guys just troll the QA board to make fun of people?

LIES.
I used Boost mobile sim cards in my old Nextel i730. When Nextel was bought out by Sprint, I decided I no longer wanted the service. But I had a lot of contacts that only had 2-way at the time so I needed to have a way to keep in touch with some of them. So I bought a Boost prepaid sim and threw it in the Nextel phone. Of course there was the problem of activating my phone because I owed Snextel money. I just used another ESN number from one of the 20 phones I had laying around and went on my way happy way.

I hate stupidity, especially on this site, and even more so when a simple google search would have answered the question. I don't get it, how can one find this site, register, and manage to create a new thread, yet one cannot perform a simple google search?

Hi,
I need some help from UK citezens in getting a mobile phone contract in UK
I am going to Enland the next month.. with my brother..
I will stay for six months.. and my brother will stay for a long time (5 years minimum)..
I am wondering what is the perfect deal for me and for my brother.. we want to get a sim as soon as possible so it's better to know which and how from now...
I know i can surf some networks sites but i know that your opinions are much better and more helping..
Best Regards,
Hi,
If you do not have a bank account for address proof, getting a contract phone is next to impossible.
Regarding networks, I would recommend you to take O2. Its the only GSM network where you can call most of non-geographic numbers like (0870/0845 etc) in your bundled/free minutes. Most of the call centres for various products and services are on these 0870/0845 numbers.
Go for Three(3G network) if you want damn cheap tariffs as long as you don't mind patchy network coverage. They have good phones these days and coverage/quality has improved quite significantly.
Go for T-Mobile if you want good customer service and good tariffs.
Vodafone is the worst(my experience) when it comes to customer service but they project that their network is the best(???) but they are expensive when it comes to tariffs.
Regards
Hari
thanks a lot,
I think my brother has arranged some bank account... but for me.. are there pre-paid accounts or something??
dont tell me there's no way to get a temporal mobile phone in England..
thanks again

What should I pick, she needs WM. I was thinking the S743 since it can work on at&t and its small and compact. What other devices should I consider?
I need something cheap though lol.
Given the fact that "none" of us know how sabi your mom is about cell phones, I'll recomend the HTC Dash...easy to use...easy to type and is hackable

Savvy .
She used to have the blackjack, this one will seem simpler since its smaller. All I have to do is show her what she needs and shes good. I would prefer at&t 3G bands, plus the dash is a bit dated.
Then get the Dash 3G.
You don't understand lol, we are on at&t.

Hmm do you happen to know the 3G bands it has?
None are AT&t compatable.
I suggest the LG Incite, easy to use WM and works with AT&T 3G since its a AT&T phone. Cheap and not very dated. I have one for sale that's brand new if you want it
The S743 is, it has 1900/850mhz UMTS bands.
Yea, but it's expensive.

Ummm if you want to selll your device use market place...
It's already their.
I'm thinking of the rose, but I want to know if there is anything that can compare. A blackberry style device is cool as well.
Go for HTC Rose!
Price is higher but it has a great re sell price as almost all HTC devices

So I just moved to US and my brother got my the worst Sprint phone ever. I seriously want to upgrade. I had a look at the Sprint store and I am eligible for the upgrade in 2014 which sucks. I can buy a replacement phone from Sprint but they have super crazy prices over there.
So my next option was to buy a used one online. So I found some great deals for used ones and I am satisfied with them. But here comes the dilemma.
My friend told that I could get a TMobile Sim card for a $0.99 (http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/T-Mobile-Prepaid-SIM-Activation-Kit) and then use any GSM unlocked phone.
So the Question is whether I should switch to tmobile and go pre-paid OR buy a used one right now and then after 2 years be more happy!
What would you guys do?
Thanks
Yeah, I like pancakes.

You can't use a T-Mobile SIM card in your Spirit phone so either way you need buy a used phone. (Whether it's a Sprint compatible one or a T-Mobile one). Personally, I hate CDMA phones. I'd go with T-Mobile.

Hello. I recently, and after much trouble, had the Sprint technical support "unlock" my phone for international travel. I wasn't planning on traveling soon and decided to switch my unlocked phone to T-mobile, but they are unable to do it sending me back and forward through both companies...
Finally I talked to HTC support, and was pretty much told to get a new rom and "third party" software unlock.
I know how to unlock bootloader, and flash roms (change mobile settings to GSM and all that) , and am about to try a software unlock from local threads here at xda, but I can't seem to find APN settings for T-mobile.
I'd appreciate any help

Lol they told u to root the device and install a new Rom and use our method of unlocking it? That's bizarre, did they tell u the process will void your warranty?
Anyways here's the tmobile apn http://apn-settings.com/t-mobile-apn-settings-step-by-step-configuration/ if that doesn't work then u can Google search tmobile apn and it will return a lot of results

Thank you for your help. Yes, it was odd that HTC implied that I used a third party solution, and this was after so much back and forth communication with Sprint and Tmobile tech help.
I was finally able to sim unlock, and use those APN settings succesfully (it wasn't easy), however, I'm not sure those APN settings give me LTE since only epc.tmobile.com seems to work, and it gives me a 3G symbols, as well as an H symbols, which I assume is HSPA?
I'm still not sure about this, so I will try different APN settings, and see what sticks (BTW I'm in Florida, trying to use this device on TMobile).

You won't get LTE if you're using a Sprint One on T-Mo
I tried the Sprint lg g4 mobile hotspot hack, its working but Sprint still sees my data usage which i used 90% already! Is there a way for Sprint not to see my usage? My firmware is zv6 please need help with this
If you root you can use WIFI Tether Router. That is why I never liked this method. But I don't think you will get flagged. Just don't abuse it.
By the way USB Tether works great and is legit. Bluetooth works too but pretty slow.
To clarify the question: are you trying to get unlimited data, as in you don't want Sprint to know how much data you are using on your plan, so you can just pay for 1 GB but have unlimited use?

That's not how it works. This allows you data through your phone up to your cap (then you hit overages). You have to be on an unlimited plan to get unlimited data.

There is absolutely, positively, without a doubt, ZERO way for you to hide your data usage from Sprint.
So long as a device on your account is registering to their network and requesting bandwidth, they're going to know who requested it.
If there were a way to use the network without registering your device, I can almost guarantee you that you wouldn't find the method on these forums. I'm on quite a few forums for reverse engineering, etc and just like with major holes that allow you to activate expensive software without paying for it, the method to do so would be kept a closely guarded secret in Elite forums where you'd have to prove yourself by being in VIP forums and not leaking anything, for a long time or be responsible for discovering hacks/exploits/etc.
When stuff like that is discovered, the more people know and exploit it, the more risky it is that Sprint will notice and patch the hole, or someone will tell a friend that's got a big damn mouth and next thing you know it's all over public forums like these and sprint pushes a network hot fix in less time than it takes the initial thread to have a second page of replies.
