Hello good people,
I've been searching the forums but i don't seem to be able to find a solution for my dead kaiser.
I'll explain the problem:
When i push the power button on my Kaiser, it start's booting the first part, displaying the "smart mobility" slogan by HTC, after a few seconds, some data appears in red, in the right lower corner of the screen, this is what is says:
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.56.00.00
After displaying this for a while (about 1 min.) it goes to the Windows Mobile Splash Screen.
After displaying this for a few seconds (5 to 10 secs) it makes the "empty battery" sound and shuts down.
Can someone help me ?
*** And NO, the battery is NOT empty ... i've charged it over night, and the power light was green. ***
I've tried booting with and without SIM and MicroSD cards ... makes no difference.

Will it boot with the phone plugged in to power?
Bill
Yeah, try booting with the charger on. Chances are that your battery' life is out..
Reagdrs,
Carty..
I have had the same thing and wondered if it was the battery... except that sometimes it will stay on for about 2 minutes, sometimes half an hour... but most of the time as soon as it goes to the Today screen, I get the battery dead sound and then it turns off. I am going to try to use another battery to see if that makes a difference.
it's not the battery
I've tried with the power cord on the phone, it does 2 things:
1. The same thing as i said before
2. Doesn't boot at all, it halts on the screen where the red data shows up and stays there until you take the power cord off and the battery out.
It does one of these things, randomly.
I've also tried with another battery from my friends kaiser which works perfectly.
So i guess it's not the battery, anyone another idea what it could be?
Might be something wrong with the firmware or anything? problem is, i can't flash it if it doesn't boot can i ??
any ideas ?
Today i managed to get my hands on a brand new kaiser battery, my uncle has a brand new kaiser and i borrowed his battery.
His battery was full, i put it in my kaiser and tried booting, same problem as above.
I've tried with the power cord plugged into the phone, the charging led went on, and i tried booting, same as above.
Later i've tried with the USB cable connected to the phone and the computer, still the same.
I've also tried soft&hard resetting with the new battery, no succes.
So therefore, i believe it's not a battery or a power problem, it must be firmware corrupted or something of the hardware broke ?
Does anyone has any idea how i can try to re-flash this thing ? to find out if that might be the problem ?
It's not the battery. Could be a bad flash or something. Try to reflash it. Yes, it will reflash even though it won't "boot" as you say. Try to reflash and then report back. Remove the memory card for now.
Also, what Rom and SPL are you using?
Ur going to have to force it into the bootloader to flash it, no biggie. Just hold down the power and camera buttons, and hold the soft reset button with the stylus, untill you get the tri color boot screen. Then flash away! I would flash a stock rom until u can tell weather your problem is hardware related or not. If hardware related keep the stock rom and spl, and try to warrenty return it.
O.k., this just happened to my Brand New kaiser last night too, WTF! Was running fine when the low battery icon came up with half battery life n shut down, now it wont start up at home screen for more than 3 secs before it shuts down and says the battery is dead even while its plugged in! There's no way to reflash or hard reset since it doesn't stay on long enough to do so. Just ordered my replacement, but reading different forums, it seems many people have experienced this with Kaiser and most around the same time, again, WTF!!!

Does it power off while beeing in bootloader? You doesnt have to start the device up to get into bootloader you know. Try checking if it shuts down while beeing in bootloader, if its not just reflash. Another thing, what spl and rom are you guys having this problem using?
It's alive!!!
Finally got it to bootloader mode before it dies and reflashed and it seems to be running just fine now. Using spl ver.1 with schaps 4.30 wm 6 (although users running the stock rom had the same experience). Got the "smart chip not provisioned mm 2" message most likely from at&t killing my sim card from a reorder as they did when I Returned the Iphone which is a rediculous policy(policing); having to constantly contact at&t to update to a new sim. Still, it makes me wonder what caused this defunct in the first place, and if it'll happen again tomorrow or the next day. Reflashing and reinstalling cabs is a Real *****, especially for a pda where people use their device for business and gather a collection of missed calls and lost connections when the Os decides to randomly crash. As much as I dig htc's devices, it's kinda strange how HTC, with such a huge marketshare with pda's, is so quiet about updates or firmware fixes. Anyways, long live the only source for htc fixes, XDA!!
Mine is still completely in the state in which i got it.
Just the stock HTC Firmware, rom's and loaders
Okay, a little update.
How the hell can i flash this thing if it keeps on bugging me with the "Wrong vender ID" message when i try to flash it ?
I know, install HardSPL ... but how can i ? without a possibility to connect ActiveSync?, you'll have to start the device for that and run activesync, but i can't because it won't even boot.
Is there any other way of getting this device to allow me to flash without needing to boot it up fully.
I have no problems getting in to the Tri-Color bootloader, but no further.
When updating it gets to 1%, then my PC gives the message: "Wrong vender ID, please use your own device's update utility" and the phone stays at 1% till i rip out the battery.
ok guys I have the same problem with two of my kaiser's
I can power them up but in aproximately 1 minut goes off, no matter if the charger is plugged or not, it doesn't make a difference
I can put the phone in tri-color screen and stays there with no problem
and I can flash them with no problem because they are olipro already
but after flash them with anything still the same problem ???
so if anybody has a clue or maybe a rom to fix this would be great
thanks
best regards
linterna
One more thing. I have the same problem but mine when starts flashes Blue LED when was good hasn't. I Started few times and it works for 2-3 weeks and again. Best to do is to not use camera. Every time it happends i ise my camera and battery was middle-low. I think its some problem with camera. Many times it don't want to start up or saids that there is no memory for saving photo. Maybe i should flash rom from wersion without cameras.
im having the same problem, has anyone solved this?
Yeah solve . HTC as a kids toy .
Buy Nokia! Or SonyEricsson.
I won't buy smartphone ever again.
Does not boot to the OS
I have the similar problem...... My kaiser is dead not even booting with battery only (not plugged to the PC or external charger).
However when I plugged it to the power source it boots up and continue to the OS and boom (shuts off) in split of second.
I tried different flash and it propelry boots and got windows up and running when plugged to the PC with the old ATT test ROM which I got from the xda threads.
But with the latest roms it wont boot to the windows , it dies before that.
Anyone having idea what could resolve this.
any update on this? i am having the same problem. i tried a hard reset already with no success it goes to the splash screen and says "the device is clearing the storage. please wait" then pings and turns off
r 1.65.21.18
g 25.88.40.05h
d 3.57.00.00
my phone is completely stock and has never been unlocked or messed with. found an updated at&t rom, i ran it and none of the numbers change in the bootup, then goes to the splash screen and says again "the device is clearinng the storage. please wait" and then pings and turns off.
also i have been searching for the oilpro or jockeyw hard spl files on google and on here but have found nothing, the search function doesnt seem to be able to find much.
any help would be appreciative, thanks in advance
Don't mean to hijack but didn't want to make my own thread when this one was here. I'm not having exactly the same problem as everyone else but I am having a battery issue. It works fine and says it's charging when plugged in but when I unplug it the battery goes down fast (like 1-4 % a minute) and when it hits around 70%, it shuts off. Then whenever I turn it on, it immediately shuts down before the Today screen fully shows (like others are mentioning here). I have to plug it back into the charger to get it to turn on again.
Could this be a bad flash too..? I know I did one of the latest HardSPLs and tonight I just now updated to the latest stock AT&T ROM. But it can't be a flash because the night I got it (bought it used on eBay), I was playing with it not plugged in using Skype and it shut off on me. I didn't think much of it and had always had it plugged in since then.
I'm assuming I simply need a new battery.. I've emailed the original owner and she says she never had any problems with it like this.

I've just started having the same problem as you. Very annoying. Mine phone is a year and a half old now, so i'm assuming the battery is coming to an end.
Charge battery, will last a while, but goes down to around 80-70% and then it says plug power in blah blah blah and dies. Then when you charge it, it stays on one or 2 bars for a bit and then jumps to 100% fully charged.
Saw a procedure to "reset" the battery. Supposedly have to take the battery out for a bit then plug in and charge fully over night with the phone OFF. None of this seemed to work for me... I'm due for an upgrade in January, so is it really worth paying for a new battery... hmmm
I was using Nexus One since the last year. I upgraded to Cm6.1R2 last December. Since then the phone was fine and I'd say I was an extremely happy man with cyanogenmod. A week back my phone suddenly stopped working and whatever I did to bring the phone back to life, failed. I tried to go into bootloader to flash the latest CM rom by holding the power button + track ball, power button+vol.up, power button+vol up &down, power+vol up+down+track ball. None could bring up the bootloader and the screen is completely black. Whenever I connect my charger I see the green light which the only sign of life in my phone. I tried to reset my phone by removing the battery and putting it back after while. With the charger when I remove the battery I could see that the LED flickers between orange and green. I don't know what to do. Please help me
Have you tried booting the phone without the battery inserted, connected to the mains only? Short of that it really does sound like your phone is bricked. HTC would be your best bet, sorry mate. Also, make sure to try charging the phone for a few hours. I once thought mine was bricked and it turned out to be a buggy app that completely drained the battery requiring a good charge before it wud even turn on.
After an unfortunate rooting session with my Motorola Milestone, the phone now returns into an "dead" mode. It refuses to start at all. I tried charging it and see if it starts by itself, but it doesn't budge and the little while led doesn't lit. The only time when it lit is when I connect it to the PC. I tried putting in it a new battery, taking out the SD card and SIM, but to no avail. I remember seeing a video where a guy used a dissected USB cable to spark the phone into turning on again, so I take it I'll have to use a "hardware approach"? Please help.
I tried following this guide, though without success. The phone still has that white LED lit when it's connected to the PC.
After a reply on this thread I also made, it might be possible that the battery is charged, but the phone refuses to boot at all. Is there any way to unbrick the phone in this state?
Do you think your device is really BRICKED?
If so, you can try to flash your original sbf file into your phone. Guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696845
If you are using a Linux, google for "sbf_flash".
I agree with my front floor..ermm, u dont need to worry about its 'dead'. just flash original sbf can rescure your phone.
I had the same problem too, but good news is I tried to revive my phone successfully recently, btw your phone is not 'dead', it's just staying in limbo state, the solution is to pull out the battery and don't connect to any usb, don't try to power it up, it must be completely out of power wait about 12 hours, and then try to power your phone, I think there is some capacitors in the phone which retain the phone state, to make it out of power will wipe out it's state, good luck

"My phone is in limbo state... "
That's a pretty cool statement.
From technical view, it might have happened that something caused a kind of deadloop when reading scratchpad SRAM inside OMAP processor.
This SRAM, as well as the internal RTC is powered by a small battery soldered on the mainboard, while the phone is shut down and the battery is taken out.
What you did was, to wait untill this battery became uncharged.
All SRAM and RTC setting as well then gets erased.
Afterwards the CPU will start up with empty scratch SRAM, might be called a "real" cold boot
Normally the phone should not behave like this. Even if SRAM is not valid the phone should boot up...
...but anyway as you observed it like this, it might happen.
@andoruB:
Apart from that, the Milestone is hard to brick in general.
Might happen though, if you do evil things while flashing new firmware.
Especially while flashing bootloaders...
If you got some more information about the things you did, would be helpful!
Good luck anyway!

how did u root it? can u give a more detailed description? and hows ur phone? sometimes, the milestone would just shut off and wont come up if the battery is gone. Try charging it for maybe 2-3 hours, untouched, and see what happens.
Have this exact problem. Was doing a nandroid recover when the phone got stuck. Pulled the battery out. Placed it back in, pressed the power button. Nothing.
Led lights up only when connected to the computer's USB. Battery was charged before Nandroid recover. Used nandroid a lot of times but for some reason, my stone stopped playing nice.
I just removed the battery. Hoping this works. Can someone please post if you got this same issue resolved? I like this phone no matter how slow it goes sometimes. Thanks!
I completely forgot about this thread, sorry guys!
I don't remember exactly what happened, it's been so long... but I do remember I left the phone "inactive" (it's not like i had much of a choice! XD ) for 1 or 2 months, with the battery out. After I got hold of a wall charger, I plugged in the battery, after I plugged in the charger, and what do you know? It worked! It started charging (was 60% charged, fully charged, I unplugged it, but after putting it to charge again just to make sure it was fully loaded before I would flash a new ROM, it was charged up to about 80%, weirdly, so I guess it was a weird battery problem)
I do remember I didn't do anything to it, so I'm not sure what to tell you guys to do, except leave out the battery for a month or so ^^;
hello my friend, recently i got my phone out of my pocket. i realized it was off. i tried to turn it on but nothing, then i pressed the off button on the back and it went on. stayed on for a couple of minutes, then the it frozen, the screen faded and it went off again. i left it the whole following morning charging, when i came back it turned on, stayed on for a couple of minutes (a little bit more of the previous time) then again same thing. if i charges it has a red light (sign that it is charging) if i disconnect the charger and try to switch it on it flashes 3 red light then it stops, and then again three red lights. i tried to charge it via computer but it wont be recognized, i also tried volume up and power button, volume down and power button, and the off button on the back. at the service center they say it cannot be fixed because it is out of warranty since the screen as been replaced by unofficial service. after a bit of charging it turned on today, but soon went off. i need help, i would at least want to know what the issue is. thanks a lot. ps. i can manage to let it work
Maybe try using flashtool to flash software. Don't wipe anything except maybe cache or so. See if that works

i flashed an old backup a few days ago, this backup used to work really well but i have been having this issue since more than a week and it gave me the same problem also with this backup. now i have wiped the chache via cmw. i will wait untill the phone gets to 50 percent of battery, then try to use it without the charger. i'll keep in touch
reply2
i wiped the chache . it worked for a couple of hours, then it went off. now when i try to charge it it shows no signs of life at all. does someone know if this could be a hardware issue? like the battery or something
Hi
I’m wondering if anybody has any advice regarding my problem. I have looked here and tried what has been suggested.
My stock, never rooted, never flashed, Xperia T (think it was Android 4.3 but can’t now check, the latest Sony rolled out) was working fine until yesterday. I was on a plane and noticed it had 20% battery life left so I plugged it into the onboard USB port. The problem is I think I hay have plugged the cable into the port the work way round – not the connection on the phone, but the actual USB socket. This should be impossible but somebody obviously had broken the port and it turned out the cable could be plugged in both ways! (I don’t know if it was plugged in the wrong way round but is the only thing that could possible explain the sudden death.)
Could this have bricked it? I suddenly couldn’t get a red light to show charging and holding down power on and volume up or down does nothing. I tried charging overnight via a wall socket when I got home but the result is still the same. Just a black screen and no sign of life. I have also tried plugging it into a computer with Sony’s PC Companion but as the phone is not ‘on’, it can’t be found.
Does anybody have any advice where to go from here? I’m more concerned about some recent data from holiday on the phone than the actual handset itself. If the phone is dead, is there any way to read the internal memory?
Thanks
Try this: Unplug the charger, press the power button. The phone won’t power up because there is no charge left in the battery. But press the power button along and while doing so, connect the charger without releasing the button. Now, you will probably see the red light. Please don’t take off your finger from the power button for around 1 to 2 minutes when the red light for charging will glow continuously. If you feel tired holding it, you can try sticking a tape on it in it’s pressed mode. Once you are sure that the phone is now charging the battery again(red light keeps glowing even after the power button is released) kindly wait for 5 to 10 minutes or may be more before you press the power button again to power the phone up. Now the phone will be up and running
If that doesnt work maybe ur battery is dead or usb port broken
Thanks for the advice. I gave that a go after trying a 24h wall charge and not touching it (which did nothing).
So, I held the power down, plugged it in but nothing. I held it down for around 5 minutes both manually and then repeated the process using the rubber band trick to keep the button held down but no red light ever came on. I think I’m going to try a new battery as I genuinely see that I have nothing to lose as I doubt it will be possible for anybody to recovery data given as the phone can’t be switched on so if I break it further I’m in no worse position!
Thanks again for trying to help though!:good:
When I got my xperia t it was in described condition. I also tried everything (rubberband trick and so on) but the only thing working was to open it and pull and put in again the plug of the battery. After that it booted immediately and I got this sleep-of-death-thing nearly every day... Since I soldered the battery as described in this Topic it happens only ~once a week. Good luck!
SOLVED! In preparation for the new battery arriving, I decided to take the back cover off. I unhooked the top battery connector and decided to connect it back up again, just to see if it did anything. Plugged in the charger and a red light came on straight away! I let it charge for a good couple of hours and switched it on – not as easy without the case attached – and it worked. I’m so frustrated with it being such a simple issue as needing to disconnect the battery but even more frustrated with the design that it is meant to be a ‘sealed’ unit with a non-removable battery. I used to often need to disconnect my old Omnia II battery to restart it but that was a simple case of cover off, remove battery, replace battery , put cover back on, not the creaky, back cover fear of cracking exercise of yesterday. Still it’s working now and hopefully life in the old phone yet!
