Issues with WM6.5.x and Manila 2.5 1922. - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

I'm having serious issues with these two builds working together. Everytime i build a rom with these I get a frozen today screen and manila never launches. Has anyone seen this?
Also with WM6.5 build I have to hit the standby button to turn off the display and turn it back on for WM6.5 to load. I know i'm not the only one seeing this but everytime i ask the question it seems to be ignored.

bump... for assistance

Which dialer are you using? Switch dialers and see if it happens...

I'm using the default Rhodium dialer. I'm not using the leo dialer. Do you think the dialer would cause immediate freezes?

I downloaded my Ext packages from the 23620 kitchen at this address-
http://rapidshare.com/files/328420373/WM6.5-OSKitchen_23620.7z . This is from sparkienl's website in the blackstone section.
THIS IS FOR THE BLACKSTONE so be careful.
The only java pkg allowed is the sunjava pkg, none of the others in the EXT pkgs used for earlier manila's.
The initflashfiles.dat has to have the attached added in it to recognise the new pkgs.
The password for the kitchen file is sparkienl.
I had similar problems to yours before I amended my kitchen with all of the above.
I hope this will help you

I still have the same problem

Here is my build log if someone can take a look

I removed the manila 2.5 packages from my 23518 build and everything works just fine. There must be some conflict with manila 2.5 or some registry item.

In your log you are using tmous manila files but not in initflashfiles.dat. I tried this same manila download with the tmous files and altered initflash but still couldn't get it to work until I used all the Ext files from the sparkienl kitchen.
These files definitely work together.

The xml files are still the same file names. Just checked that. I'm going to try the files from the kitchen you mentioned and report back. Thanks

I think there is something else wrong cause i can change to a com2 wm build and everything works fine.

U wouldn't have a mirror better than crapshare would you? Been trying to download for about 2hrs now and still nothing. Anyone with a rapidshare account want to make a decent mirror?

According to some posts I read there is missing reg files and corrupt dlls in the manila download you have.
Had a good look but couldn't find a mirror so I made my own hence the time delay. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y6VJHYAC

for manila latest, be sure to use Menu_Enhancement_TEST_1_1_19222010_00 and DON'T forget to recmod it...

These new packages leave the same exact result. The today screen is frozen in the wm6.5.x builds but in wm6.5 builds it works just fine.

PS manila 1922 REQUIRES XIP 2.02 and OEM folder 2.02 IT wont work without it.
there is differences with rom below 2.0 and over

Isn't the OEM specific to the device? Also it all "works" on 21885 build of wm6.5 just not on the new builds. It works strangely on 21885 where i have to put the device on standby then bring it back and then manila 2.5 loads and works great.

Thanks to misar, FreePK for helping with this new set of tools!
About the Kitchen
Herald base: HTC WWE 4.17.405.2
OS base: VF Kaiser UK 3.08.161.0 (Build 19199)
OEM Apps removed, but you need to clean up the OEMDrivers package
I did not do any changes to the OS, because it should be a clean base Kitchen for all of you
Full XIP editing supported by the Kitchen
New tool to merge all dsm files to one big file and delete all rgu's
I think the OEM package to SYS problem should be solved... but did not try it yet
How to use it
Requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package
OEM and SYS can be used as known
The content of ROM\XIP will be used to create a new XIP section for the OS
You don’t have to worry about relocating modules... add/remove whatever you like and the new tools will take care of relocating modules or freeing RAM
.VM and .ROM is updated automatically
Actually this Kitchen runs in auto mode, which means you only need to run BuildNB.bat to create the ROM. You can change that by editing the bat files; made it this way, because I don’t use the options in BuildOS.exe
I consider this a perfect port of the new build to this device
Replaced all XIP SYS packages (I did not just changed coredll.dll to get the new build number)
There were also boot.rgu changes my MS, those have been added too
SYS is completely untouched
Read this for download:
All donations are very welcome!
I need to buy a new device, because this time my Trinity is gone forever and I cannot use my girlfriends Artemis without being killed (by mistake I deleted all contacts last time I used it for testing... she was not very happy about that )
When you are getting money for the ROMs you cook using my kitchen, I would really appreciate a donation.
I'm not talking about 50% of you incomes, but one small donation would be fair I think.
To download the Kitchen click at "All donations are very welcome"
!!! This was only meant for ppl never donated for these tools and expecting donations for ROM's created using my Kitchen !!!
Thanks to all those who have donated already!
Happy cooking!
Come on guys - the ROM (I installed a test version by bepe) has nothing inside - real barebone...
BUT it is BOOTING
And it is what I call "click n´get" = no lack when clicking start-settings
So start cooking...
And once again: IT is a KITCHEN === NO usable ROM!!!!

Forget about 19716, it is a very old build! Dont ask me about this logic.
19199 seams to be the final build, so please use this one. It's more stable, not beta like 19716, faster.
Now all I need is a way to bypass the flash center's 51.2mb limit and I'm in heaven. ;-) Awesome release. Cooking as we speak, instead of sleeping...

Himalaya with Manilla2D Working!! (Contacts and Programs working now!)

After watching everybody with problems in adding contacts and programs, i tryed to found what was diferent in my Himalaya (it was working fine in my Hima!).
So i found that when I was trying to make M2D working in Himalaya, i previously installed lots of diferent software, and i did not see what i had diferent from you guys...
BUT KNOW I KNOW!!!!
I had 2 more .cabs in my Hima, they make the diference!!!

From there download this update: »[UPDATE 16] September 26, 2008«
Inside the folder "NEEDED FILES" you'll find lots of .cab files
1 - Install "01. OX-ManilaCompatibleSharedDLL.cab"
It will ask to Reboot - Ok reboot!
2 - Install "02. ContactFix.cab"
3 - Download and install this .cab file from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/152207282/Manilla2D-Jack.cab.html
4 - Install "16. Manilla2D_HTC_Patch.CAB"
5 - Soft reset the device... et voila! See now if you can add contacts and programs!
Did not test other functions, but they might need other .cabs in package to run.
NOTES;
I've tryied the M2D version inside the package "15. 2d.Manila.Engine-Beta-0.09.cab"
Works also, but it's more heavy, so Jack version is better.
Also tryed install M2D costumizer with other themes and it's working fine.
HOPE THIS HELP YOU!
Send me your feedback.

Good Point! Got some new phones recently and mixed up which was which!
Event the main XDA-developers page says that the XDA IIi may be an Andes or an Alpine!
It is indeed a Himalaya / XDA II!
Whats roms these play to?
I have same problem. With contacts, programs and etc.
After the new instructions in post 1:
*Programs and contacts now work
*Links on Internet tab do not work
*Images on album page work, but do not correctly fit to box....HTC Album only loads briefly and then shuts
*Music tab gives "Cannot play file" error, haven't tested with MP3
EDIT: Installing the Audiomanager removes this error, though I have no MP3s on my phone to test more.
*Cannot add location on Weather page, location list is blank. Probably missing link to .xml list.
I will look into fixes...
Keep it up

UPDATE:
After the new instructions in post 1:
*Programs and contacts now work
*Buttons on Internet tab do not work
*Images on album page work, but do not correctly fit to box....HTC Album only loads briefly and then shuts
FIX: Install HTC AlbumFolder Option.cab after installing the cabs mentioned in post one (and including the AudioManager cab)
*Music tab gives "Cannot play file" error, haven't tested with MP3
FIX: Installing the Audiomanager removes this error, though I have no MP3s on my phone to test more.
*Cannot add location on Weather page, location list is blank. Probably missing link to .xml list.
Fix: Reinstalled all the cabs after hard-reseting phone, all of a sudden it works.
I am still looking into the buttons on the internet tab. I might try installing Opera, or seeing if there is a change in the registry...

Jade SuperROM Kitchen v1.0 - CE 5.2.20765

Due to a few requests and because some Chefs may be struggling to port the XIP from the Iolite I've decided to release my SuperROM Kitchen.
This kitchen will build a Jade ROM with CE 5.2.20765 (Build 20765.1.4.4) OS and kernel.
All the Jade applications have been updated to the newer Iolite versions and Iolite's Footprints is included.
The XIP and SYS from the Iolite have been fully ported.
A few drivers remain from the European 1.40.405.3 ROM, the rest are updated.
Sample footprints, pictures, music and movies have been removed.
Opera and Google Maps have been removed and are included as CABS.
TIP: If you remove Footprints you can disable the Footprints Widget by setting enable to 0 in the Tabs section of the HTCHomeSettings.xml file.
Many thanks to udK for the original Jade Kitchen and to the following for their tools which without none of this would be possible.
bepe for his BuildOS & XIPPort
Dark Simpson for his HTC ROM Tool
misar for G'Reloc & M'Reloc
Olipro for his Hard-SPL
tupisdin for the shipped ROM
tadzio for ImgFS Tools

thanks again~
I also don't know about the following files, could you explain the functions for me pls :
PACKAGE_Iolite_CLL
PACKAGE_Iolite_zlibce_m
UpdateBlock
ShadowPkg
many thanks!
so if I copy some cabs in the folder CABS and then run buildrom.bat the applications (that cabs file) will be compiled/included in the rom?

No, the CAB folder just contains the two cabs removed from the build.
It's a bad idea to have cabs included in the ROM, i.e. Google Maps and Opera. When the device does it's first boot it installs these cabs but it can't delete the cab files as they're burnt into the ROM so you are wasting about 5MB of memory. The idea is to copy these to your Jade and install them after the first boot, the cabs can then be delete from the Jade.

CLL has to do with Client Location, when you use the Footprints app it will try to determine your position using a few different methods, GPS, WiFi, CellID (it aks your permission the first time you use it). If it can determine your position it uses it as the default caption for the footprint.
zlibce seems to be a compression/decompression library that is probably used by another application.
UpdateBlock, ShadowPkg, X0 to X9. I don't know, they were in the original Iolite ROM so they're in the kitchen. You can probably delete them and your ROM will work fine although you'll save very little space.
I only took out Google Maps and Opera as it's pointless and a waste of space having CAB files burnt into the ROM when they can be installed after you've flashed your ROM.
thank you for your answer~
but i got new one:
is there any solution to stop Activesync popping up automatically??
fake server setting seems not work for me ~
thanks~
so do I have to copy my part01 and 02 in the kitchen? or it's enough to "build.bat" and the rom is ready? If that so, what's the point of "kitchen"? and what is exactly these "footprints" ?

No, you don't copy anything from your ROM into the kitchen, the idea is that you take things out if you want a 'lite' version.
If you want to know what Footprints is then I suggest you build a ROM in my kitchen, install it and have a play around... or have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YITWCZxvHz0, not the same phone but you'll see a footprints demo about 1 minute into the movie.
yeap, really great. so this rom is exactly as it comes (in other words is kitchen for jade with iolite (footprints) features) and we will modify it as we want, or let it as it is. and footprints will use automatically the gps, to take the coordonates?

Does anybody have a problem with footprints?

It's not just 'Kitchen for Jade' plus Footprints, everything is updated including newer OS and kernel.
Footprints will automatically use the GPS, it will also use AGPS if you agree to it the first time you use footprints (and yes you can switch off the AGPS later if you don't want it). You can't switch of the GPS as otherwise Footprints would just be a camera!

This has nothing to do with the SuperROM Kitchen... Why don't you just tick the 'Don't ask me again box' when ActiveSync pops up?

What i mean is:
When I start up the HTC Touch 3G, ActiveSync is running. I stop it, but sooner or later it will show up in the Tasks running again. I'll leave the HTC Touch 3G alone for awhile, come back and ActiveSync is running again.
I did the ActiveSync Fake server Trick(Fake IP, Set schedules to Manual, etc..), but that didn't help.
Sorry for my poor English~
maybe someone can help me: i'm trying to make my own rom, and i have a problem: i've made oem packages from the cabs, and i've copied the entire folder (with all files including .dsm and .rgu) into OEM folder, and after that, i've pressed BuildROM.bat but appears an error at one of the application (i've included 5): The file 'temp\dump\SETUPDLL.dll' allready exists. Yes, I have this file on 3 applications folders. How can i solved it? I supose if I will delete from 2 applications folders the "setupdll.dll" file, the app will not work anymore correctly. Please help me.

I'd suggest you do some reading on how to convert cabs to packages and vice versa
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467842
i will try that variant too, but, for moment i want to know what should i do with what i've converted. look on the attachament to see if i need only that 2 files, or entire directory.
a problem that i have at finalisation of the compilation: see attachament.

Rhodium Dialer

Hi guys,
i am sorry if this is not the right place to post my question, but could someone explain if it is possible to extract the Rhodium dialer from the relevant ROM and covert it to a cab for installation on a stock ROM?
I appreciate any answers as i am new to this but would be interested in starting to play with ROMs.
Many thanks in advance.
just copy the needed files from the oem folder and use wince cab manager to build your cab,
if you know how to cook that is.
Nope, actually i have no idea...yet! But i am eager to start learning a bit more about cooking so if you have any good posts or articles please let me know.
Did someone try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521815 ?
Yeah, I tried it but it doesn't work. It keeps saying that the install is unsuccessful, even though I have sdkcerts installed. Not sure why it doesn't install.
I am usign this compatibility pack in my latest pure ROMs
(my ROMs are "pure" xperia, no based on blackstone or rhodium OEMs as others)
I have included this compatibiity pack in my latest ROM and I was able to successfuly run many Manila / TF3D2 apps in the SEX1 ROM
Well, I made a CAB out of my OEM package, please download it and install it, then try adding the rhodium dialer or other manila apps, and please report
If it works, it would be a great achievement for non-ROM flashing users of our community
.
EDIT
24 JUN 09
first test worked for some
second version up, hope this one works for ALL stock Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 ROMs
NOTICE THIS IS BASED ON WWE, but should be tested over other languages too
Here are some RHODIUM/TOPAZ/BLACKSTONE APPS I have CABbed should you want to test them too (mp3 trimmer, comm manager, vol control, voice rec, youtube... etc)

Soooo hot damn news! Gtrab, U're simply the best. I'm trying install Rhodium dialer now.
It works. Thax U so much Gtrab. Now i have Sex1 with Rhodium dialer
Gtrab, thanks so much.
Does the rhodium dialer work okay? I had Yota dialer but it slowed things down and had a few other limitations.
Hmmm, strange; I installed the compatibility pack then rhodium dialer, but still same error message (installation unsucessful). Anyone else have success?

I'm using stock NAM R2A. Looks like gtrab has kindly uploaded another version, so I'm going to give it a shot.

Pack 1 doesn't allow to install Rhodium conm. But pack 2 does. Its work perfectly. Even I can install TF3D like WC Rhodium packet, and easily switch back to Today (like in wm6.1). Gtrab, much appreciate.
Still not working on mine (X1a NAM R2A). Maybe it has something to do with previous install of Yota contacts? Anyway, thanks gtrab for your contribution.
gtrab: I WAS able to install HTC voice recorder, so this seems to be specific to the rhodium dialer, at least on my phone.
Created topic for other Rhodium CABed apps.

Do u know if the "vibrate when call started" feature is working? Or the "fade out to black screen" during the conversation ( to not touch the screen involuntary)?
Thanks!

manilla M2D All-In-One .cab file

from the main topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=503635
before u install remember:
1. MUST HAVE A 6.5 or 6.1 ROM!!!!
2. BACKUP!
3. INSTALL WITH SD CARD!
4. INSTALL WITH USB CABLE CONNECTED SO THAT DOESNT GO SLEEP MODE.
5. BETTER TO INSTALL OVER A FRESH INSTALL.
download here >>>
http://rapidshare.com/files/255820851/SoLoM_M2D.cab
file is updated with some fixes
In one thread you say 6.1 isnt supported, in another 6.5 and 6.1 are?
Can you let us know whether it supports all 6.1 and continues to be slow as a hog for 6.1 or much faster now?
by the way .. the first thread was not posted by me, i've just posted my link in a reply and then posted it on a new thread.
i tried manilla all-in-one on WM6.1 and it worked fine and fast.
manilla M2D all-in-one supports WM6.5 and WM6.1 , but it works better on WM6.5
there's some bugs on manilla itself, i've just got the source files that posted by djkoa
and here's my own .cab file.
do you think could you just attach the cab to your post? rapidshare hates me because I don't pay them.
