One thing you should know before flashing is that there is no perfect ROM. Every ROM is different, and suits different users. One ROM might be ultralight and fast, but lacking in features that some users want. Others might be more feature-filled, but also slower and more bloated as a result. One ROM might be very stable, but not terribly fast nor very feature-filled. And another ROM might be a bleeding edge, latest build ROM which is very buggy and unstable, but shows the latest Microsoft advancements. In short, you need to flash all the ROMs that look of interest to you before you can decide what ROM you want to use.

If you install HardSPL on your phone, then that doesn't limit you to "cooked" ROMs, you can also install any official ROM that you want.

best shiped ROM. HKCSL?

I'm new smartphone user. I've done research on how to flash ROM, cause I want to flash english version. Now I have german O2 1.14.
I want original (shiped) ROM as to be stable and reliable. I thought the highest version could be the best, so I'm prepared to flash this ROM --> RUU_BlackStone_HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship.exe
What do you think of it?
I'd like to make sure because I don't want to flash my HD anymore then, until original 6.5 comes.

In my opinion yes HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0 is a stable Shipped ROM. I was using this for few weeks in Switzerland (Converted from German Version) and now i have switced over to cooked version.
tanks for reply. I just flashed HKCSL and I think it's OK.
What custom ROM did you flash? How is it?
Now with Laurentius
I use to change often currently i am running with L26_THDV7.5_WWE from Laurentius26 earlier was using rom from dutty. Though laurentius26 upgraded to Ver 8.0. I love 7.5 version...for its stability, will work with this for sometime and will upgrade to ver 9.0 release later. Guess it will be released in a week.
I've been using HKCSL_WWE_1.19.831.0 for a while... really stable rom...
b4 I switched to 6.5 Winmo ~^^
@rainbowsong2000, I'd change ROM often too, but I guess it's annoying allways to customize the phone after flashing!?
@lcw622, how is the 6.5 ROM (stability, user interface)? I'm allways interested in the new stuff - on desktop I use Win7...but on the phone I'm not used to test-->It's only my second smartphone after using Tytn for couple of months.

I am using the David's 6.5 V4 /w TF3D (only use TF3D for music playing ATM, 99% titanium bcoz it cost quite a lot of ram with the WMP+today plugin with titanium).. anyway the rom itself is stable enough for daily use... but since it's still the "BETA"... things might got a little messy sometime(for me the case would be...Dual Lock Screen....TF3D+Slide Lock..=0="...so...soft reset would be needed... but I enjoy being a test mouse XD ... and it might just bcoz of me trying to use WWE 6.5 ROM with the OEM Winmo Chinese full screen hand writing... but not the 3rd-party ones... and/ or might be the tweaks I did myself...
but I'd say... it's totally fine being daily applications...

Flashing a ROM - Quick Question

Before I flash a custom ROM on my phone, should I "clear storage" and then install the latest T-Mobile ROM?
Also, I haven't been able to find a more stable ROM than the HERALD.ASerg.WM6.1.WWE. Has anyone familiar with this ROM found a replacement that is as stable, since the ASerg ROM is old.
Thanks,
-Adam

Nah... no need to throw that on there... it's going to be swapped out with something better... given that you flash it. Throwing the stock rom would be like waterboarding your fone... no need to put it through that kind of torture. Hehe Aftershav3d is pretty clean to be honest... if I may make a reccommendation.

What rom is currently the best one?

I'm just looking for a rom with standard liberated snapvue abilities with the best phone fuctionality.
Also i have a Swedish keybard on my shift so i need full swedish layout for my keyboard.
So, what rom should i pick?
I'd go for "Age of reason"
@Flanimal - Have you tried Gullum's and i00's Roms also ?
Is thaiugo's Rom faster / more stable ?
I am also searching for the 'perfect rom' for my shift, and wanting to find out your opinions.
Thanks

I'm using thaiugo's are of reasons too. The I00 rom can use MMS, but too heavy. I've installed QIP on it, and tryed to serf for web... and it went down. Gullum's roms 6.5 is heavy, and i havent' tryed another one.
But Gullum has a WM6.1 cooked rom also. That's what I am currently using.
I am trying to flash Thaiugo's Age of Reason to see if there is a difference or not, but currently i am experiences some difficulties in attaching Snapvue to Windows 7.

Yes I found thaiugos ROM to be the fastest and most stable, and most compatible with programs (youtubeplay works on it).
I tested Thaigo , i00 and Gullums Roms. In my opinion WM6.1 by Gullum combines the best look, functionality and programs preloaded.
I use Thaihugos Age of Reason. It is fastest, more free RAM/storage space and not full of programs you never need. You can install only programs you actually use to save storage.
..and Thaihugo.. if you are reading this, please cook same kind of very light rom but WM6.1...

That's probably why I didnt't use Thaiugo's ROM more than a day. Althought it is fast and stable, i always flash the lastest OS onto my devices. WM6.5 takes too mouch resources, so i sticked to WM6.1

[Q] Roms for the tilt 2 by htc

I have a tilt 2 with 8/30/2010 update n its suck i was wondering wats a good custom rom to use that dosent freezes up or runs super slow n were to download it at
We get at least a dozen new users asking this question every couple of weeks. The response is always the same. This is like asking a community of peers which pants are the most comfortable. It's a matter of opinion. Flashing doesn't harm your device at all (if you follow instructions), and it's simple to restore it to factory settings if you need to send it in for repairs or replacement. Therefore, with no downside to flashing ROMs, just keep flashing them until you find something you like.
Most ROM threads will tell you within the first couple of posts most of the goals of the ROM, and whether they are cooked for speed, looks, or stability. There are also pictures on most all of them so you can see it before you flash. Flashing takes minutes, so why not just spend a day or so testing a bunch of them out. I've been flashing for a long time and I still don't stick to just one ROM.

I got the same problem with this ROM from AT&T. I called HTC and they admit that there is a memory leak problem in the HTC Sense built into that version of the ROM. So does anyone have a ROM with a better (or later) HTC Sense that works, i.e. fast, no memory leak, and no lockup?
Thanks.
The best advice that can be given to those in your situation (besides HardSPL'ing your device) it to
1) Pick a ROM on this very board.
2) Flash it to your phone.
3) Use your phone.
4)
a) If you like it, then your problem is solved.
b) If you don't like it, do steps 1-3 until you get to step 4a)
Software Version 1.59.502.3
Will this new software version be a huge upgrade from my current version without losing any default features that I now have?
Consider using Wildchild's ROMs. They are pretty much stock look/feel, but faster and much more stable.

Yep. Bluetooth works great. Actually everything works great. Its a ROM where everything works as it should. Keep in mind, bloatware is removed, but all the core stuff works perfect.
Thanks - where is the best place to read up on with instructions on how to do this?
Try the flashing your first Rhodium ROM tutorial sticky.
Thanks - it appears there are several versions of the rom, so I have a lot of reading to figure out what the differences are.
Do you have any preference?
HARDSPL

I use the 2.1 ROM from Wild Child and it is absolutely the best. Has everything I need and nothing I don't. It is fast, stable, in my mind, the way it should have been from the beginning. It is a rock solid ROM.
This is the one I was going to flash on my phone, but after hours of working on it with F2505x4 we could not get it to flash. There was an issue with the HardSPL. I ended up flashing the updated AT&T stock rom instead for now.

Ready to ROM

Ready to ROM but first a few questions please.
I think I know what I am doing had a N1 before some @[email protected] walked off with it.
I am rooted, thanks to XDA
I am going to use Titanium backup to back up my Apps
Use ROM Manager to back up my current OEM Rom the flash new ROMs
Coming from N1 I ran nothing but Cyanogenmod and I loved them they were clean and very stable. Looking in the ROM section I do not see Cyanogenmods?
I want a ROM that is really clean, fast and completely unbranded. I mean when it powers up I want no AT&T logo or Rogers log for the matter.
My current Rogers ROM has little bloatware but I get the feeling some of the ROMs here may have AT&T junk.
Any recommendations on a ROM that I would be happy with? Stable, clean and completely unbranded?
Clean Roms
Well, the original boot will have the white AT&T screen for just a moment on all ROMs that I've seen.
Other than that, ALL custom ROMs get rid of AT&T bloatware and unlock potential of your phone. Most work well with most phones.
A few additional steps you want to take before going further... know your make number (1008, 1009, 1010, etc). You need to know you can flash back to stock using Odin in some form, shape and/or fashion in the event it all goes to hell.
You need to know if you can boot into download mode using the button combinations included in the threads. If not, you need to be sure to get the right ODIN package that will enable you to do so. If you don't, if you get hung, you're really hung.
As far as recommending a ROM, I personally prefer AdamHolden's ROM's. I think he does good work. He is currently working on the PHOENIX ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892973
DesignGears also does very stable ROMs (Cognition and Perception). My first ROM I ever flashed was his cognition ROM, and it clued me into the true potential of the phone and of custom ROMs.

I hope this helped.
