Root? Official Sprint Hero 2.1 Rom

Does anyone have any idea how to root the recently released ROM which is available on the sprint.com website? Or should I just go back to 1.5?

It can't be rooted (yet, possible ever) and you can't go back to 1.5... Sorry, man.

I have a poll on the first page of genereal some where... I expect there is about a 33% margin where 6 or So have loaded but are to embarassed to vote. This number is really more like number 24

so if i run the update from sprint i wont b able to go back to 1.5??? im currently rooted and do i need to unroot before i run the ruu>??? or i can just run the exe

if you run the ruu you will lose root until you or someone else finds a way to root it.

NOOB here, so...2 b clear, if I want 2 root, I'm reading that I shuld stay away from the Eclair 2.1 Sprint update, root my 1.5 and flash 1 of th custom roms? I have red dif probs w/ apps not workin on dif customs. Is there a recomended stable version? Thanks n advance.

That's correct. You should root the 1.5 stock ROM, and then flash a custom ROM. Good info here:

[SOLVED]Can't flash partitions!

EDIT: I FIXED IT! I USED A PC AFTER SCHOOL TO FASTBOOT IT!
Help!
I put my boot image on my recovery partition and vice versa.
I was using the flash_image binary to flash them to the original, but it says failed to write block at xxxxxxxxxxxxx (out of memory)
skipping write block at xxxxxxxxxx
It does this for a while, then says failed to write recovery/boot.
I tried to use the erase_image binary, but it still had the same error.
I now have no boot or recovery!
I don't have a PC, so I can't use fastboot! What should I do?

A prime example of why some things should be done on pc and pc only
The only way you can fix this is fastboot because from the sounds of it you where trying to flash originals onto a device that im guessing at some stage had resized partitions ?

The library blocks all installation files and everthing else for that matter.
I am going to do it at school - i have very nice technicians

I was trying to reflash the rcovery and boot images onto the phone using the flash_image binary.
Some idiot had renamed them so that they were opposite.
When i tried to reflash i got the error.

Hello everyone, i got a little problem thats actually a big problem
I bought a used x8 , for like 70$ and i didnt asked if it was unlocked, when the phone arrived i noticed that it was...
Naturally i went to xda to find out more about it... and read that if u unlock bootloader u also lose the newtork lock on the phone
I rooted the phone then, unlocked bootloader turned on ... same **** again, then i went to change kernel, baseband etc , and put 4.0.4 hoping that maybe the T-mobile branded data gonna dissapear... still nothing, so my question is
Is there any way to network unlock my phone without having to pay nearly 60 $ ... since it itsn't really that logic to buy a phone for 70 and unlock for 60 ... Thanks in advance

nobody will ask you to puy so many money the price is about 20 usd,but this isnt the place to ask about this,as it doent have anything to do with xda

Well if u know any cheaper send links but its what i found -.- ...
Problem is i dont have CreditCard( as im 16) , and there are some local people that do decoding n **** but i dont trust them because the take mostly dummyphones... and they aren't responsible if the **** up youir phone... , oh nvm i guess im gonna have to beg for a credit card

latest radio?

I have searched but cannot seem to find the very latest radio file for the Nexus 6. I've got a Google Play version, using on T-Mobile.
My speeds don't seem to be what they should, and I am on a 6.0.1 custom ROM, but never updated the modem file, and afaik none of the custom ROMs do the update, I never did flash a factory update either.
Is there a latest T-Mobile radio or something I could flash to possibly fix my speeds etc.?

you can use any of these radios on any version of android. try out a bunch of different radios, keep your favorite. and, BTW, the latest radio isn't the best one usually.

I was recently fixing phones for a friend and switching a lot, and I forgot how awesome my Nexus 6 was in this regard.
With Sammy and HTC you flash the wrong radio and you are hard bricked with the quickness...

yeah, you try to downgrade firmware on a lot of samsung devices and you end up with a hard brick, thanks to KNOX... Same with HTC..
Anyways, I've just downloaded the 5.32 radio, and flashed it - I didn't see the one you mentioned in that thread though..
edit: wow, that sure made a fast difference... Glad I flashed the new radio lol

That's the radio I have, 27R. Getting speeds about the same as orangekid. So I'm happy.

me too, but depends where. around my home, I get about 65mbps download. and around work, anywhere from 5-30mbps :angel:

if I need root after I in a phone, I either use our work computer or ask a friend
I literally do everything with the device itself, like in terminal, or just modifications in its filesystems. only root, unlocking the bootloader(it will never get locked again), and flashing twrp for the first time. flashing radios/bootloaders is usually through a twrp flashable.

Yeah, always a PC somewhere, just in case. No unlimited data in Canada. At least nothing that's not an absurd amount of cash a month. Otherwise I'd drop Internet too. Lol

Yeah I get unlimited LTE (even if I go to Canada) so maybe I'm a bit spoiled too...

on tmobile.. I've unlimited lte(high speed data) and unlimited calls/texts/SMS for $70. I'm happy with it, especially with the data speeds in my area.

Hi Im new to root and I want to get rid of Google Play Music as it has shut down lately so the app is just sitting there doing nothing and I don't have a PC so I don't think it will be easy because I don't have TWRP, a unlocked bootloader.

okay you can't keep going like this, you can't flash without a pc to use fastboot on. lol. You're gonna need a computer.

you could try this :
But i'm almost 100% sure this will fail, but it's worth a shot.
Anyways, the moral of the lesson here is that there are limitations to your phone.
