I haven't installed a theme yet on my fresh install of CM6.1 rc1, but I want to... just want to know how to remove it before I do so. I searched and found a lot of info but nothing seemed to be directly what I'm asking.

Settings -> ADWLauncher -> Theme Preferences.
If you install one you don't like just reinstall the default one. I downloaded a bunch of free ones from the Android Market and tried them. Once I determined that I didn't like them, I uninstalled the download theme and then it doesn't show up under the Theme Preferences.
Regards,
Tom
So does that mean I should be installing themes through ADW instead of flashing them from Clockwork?

I have only dealt with themes for ADW. If you have some themes that are flashable via ClockworkMod, then I do not have any experience with those. In that case 'nandroid' backups will be your best friend. Make a 'nandroid' backup and then flash a new theme. If you don't like it, then restore your nandroid backup and start again.
I created a theme at the Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen so I could get the super circle battery... I have to install it from Recovery according to this page: http://circle.glx.nl/how_to/
Is there another way that I'm missing?
Create a nandroid backup of your current setup before flashing a theme. If you end up not liking a theme then just restore from nandroid to get back.
I finally answered my own question. If I had just read that page I linked to above a little better, I would have seen where they suggest backing up your existing framework-res.apk before flashing the new one. So I did that. Hopefully won't be difficult to put back if I choose to.
Now I just need to find a good ADW theme... preferrably free since I'm broke at the moment. =)
I cannot take ant credit for these. I have found them in different forums and all I am doing is posting them here for you guys to enjoy also.
Disclaimer:I have personally confirmed these work on 2.2.1.But that doesn't mean it will work for you and I am not responsible if you brick or break your phone
Back up your vending.apk from system/app folder BEFORE you try to install this
Market must be already installed and configured(Logged in prior to install)
These are all installed through clockwork in recovery
DO NOT RENAME
1.install zip from SD
2.choose zip from SD
3.scroll down to desired zip and install
4.reboot system
5. enjoy
FOR THOSE HAVING FC ISSUES TRY THIS AFTER INSTALL
1. Make sure Market is closed (task manager or FC)
2. Go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> All
3. Select Market
4. Clear data
If it works, good for you, otherwise: Try the Installing again
5. Launch SGS Tools
6. Select Market Fix, check both boxes, apply.
7.) Most important: after reboot, REPEAT STEPS 1-4.
If Market is not showing up.
Install Original from one I posted or back up your vending.apk from system/app folder and replacing it with your original vendng.apk
EDIT: Here is were I found them

Black or White?
Just curious, but are the backgrounds of these markets white like the normal one? or are they indeed black as your pictures show?
If not, is that a theme that would do that?

Great find. I like the Dark Market as it will go with the Darkness theme but I also like the Dark Blue theme. I guess I will switch off pretty often between the two. Thanks

Cool, trying on Perception 10 in a bit, the dark one will look killer on The Darkness2.5 theme as mentioned above.
Can't get any of them to work on Perception 10. I tried to install using the .zip file. It places the Vending.apk in the system/app folder, but it doesn't show up in my app drawer. Same results if I extract and place it there by my self.
I would love to have the dark one as well for the Darkness theme on Perception 10

Check the link provided by the OP above to the original posts - there are some troubleshooting steps there and a patch I believe.
I am using the Dark market with the Darkness theme on P10. Just installed it last night. Just moved.it with root explorer to my sd card, went into recovery and chose install zip from sd card and ham it worked fine. I didn't have to look for it or anything. It actually has a different icon for the market on my home page as well.

Market must be already installed and configured(Logged in prior to install). I have no idea why because I am not the creator but I have personally done it this way and have had no issues what so ever installing them through clockwork. I updated the OP with this also.
I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue but I get FC after I install something and then FCs when trying to open the market again. I have to reinstall the stock market and then install the dark market and then it repeats the issue. So I can install one thing, restore stock market, install dark market, install another app and repeat.

wow Maybe try fixing permissions in Rom manager or Recovery and see if that help
I was trying to figure this out awhile ago with the OP from linked thread and it turns out that even though some markets say 2.2.7 in the info for the package it was really 2.2.6 when pulled from phone and opened. I think that 2.2.1 uses a different market then 2.2
Haven't tried the dark market yet but the Dark Blue works fine.

Flashed fine for me using the black market 277. Have since been updated to the P 10 v0.5 patch and no issues.
You are rebooting after putting the file into /system/app/ dir right?

I said earlier that I couldn't get any of them to work. I really wanted to use the Black theme, so I reflashed Perception 10, and before restoring any apps or anything else, I tried to install the themed market. Of course I signed into the stock market first like OP stated. Anyway, it worked. I tried to recreate the problem I had installing it before, but I can't seem to now.
Cool,just installed the black/blue app market on my Cappy,looks freaking sweet with reefermattness's Darkness 2.2 theme-took about 6 tries using member RockRatt's method(thanx) !

Has anybody successfully gotten a themed market to work? I used a cwm zip from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11411546
However nothing changed, just stayed green. I even deleted the marketupdater.apk. Does anybody have any suggestions. Would be very helpful and appreciated. I'm currently using charnsingh_online cm7 build.
no it removed my market had to redo my build to get it back. "Nothing but a bag of lies"
Got it to work a few days ago. Problem the first go around was I had a theme already installed. Therefore the new themed market wouldn't overide it. I had to start from a fresh install and apply it. Worked.
DHD BUILDS ONLY---Ive done this on every rom ive flashed... Some key things are to delete"marketupdater.apk" in /system/app. Make sure you don't have "com.android.vending-1.apk" in /data/app or it will default to that version. If you do, delete it and reboot b4 proceeding. And if you just move the "Vending.apk" of your choice to /system/app, allow all permissions and reboot, it should work. Mysense on the mt4g is a different story.... Ive gotten it to work, but I'm not really sure how lol.
If this doesn't work, no matter what you try, just open up the zip file you flashed in cwr to install the rom and navigate to /system/app within the zipped rom and extract Vending.apk. Then move it to /system/app and reboot. That should theoretically give you the original market back, provided you don't have "com.android.vending-1.apk" in /data/app. Good luck!

Hello, guys. I'm sharing with you the app ZIPme, it allows you to create a flashable backup ZIP of anything! Build.prop, boot animation, system fonts, accounts, messages, wallpaper, Wi-Fi, apks, apks+data, only data etc.
It's really easy, I added some screenshots to you.
Tested in:
Xperia U | Xperia P
Note: if you test tell me to add in list
Hope you like!
Words of developer (JRummy Apps):
ZIPme is in beta. This means there will be bugs and some hiccups.
ZIPme is a powerful tool to create update ZIP packages to install in recovery. Whether you are a ROM developer or just getting into "root" and "ROMs" ZIPme can simplify your life.
Who should use ZIPme?
If you install custom ROMs on your rooted Android device then ZIPme can be a powerful tool. ZIPme requires root access.
What does ZIPme do?
ZIPme creates ZIP packages to install in recovery mode. When you install a new ROM your system is wiped and many times you clear your data. ZIPme can create a package of your apps, data and files you want to install right after a ROM or as a ROM addon. ZIPme programs and signs the update ZIP package so your recovery can install it.

Will try this. Then I'll flash a new rom. This includes SMS messages right?

very good friends. some tutorial to install "RRO Layer Theme" in my Motorola Nexus 6 has installed Android 6.0 stock rom. My device is root.. Thanks in advance
Create /system/overlays folder (all lower case)
Download Layers Manager from Play
Download any Layers theme from play.
Open the theme from app drawer and follow instructions.
Ultimately, all layers manager does is take the individual apk themes (packged up in the apk you install from play) and put them in /system/overlays. So in theory, you could open the apk from play store with a zip / archive application and extract all the apk's inside it and put them there. Set permissions and reboot.
To add to the above, you may also need to do a couple other things if you haven't already.
I am pretty sure Layers Manager requires Busybox, so you may need to install that. The app may inform you if it needs it or not.
If you are indeed on 100% stock you may need to free up some space on your system partition. Marshmallow takes up a lot of space on the partition, which can make it impossible to install a theme since it installs to /system/overlays.
