Please Help Me - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

So after an unsuccessful ROM flash my phone was stuck at bootloader for quite sometime...i had a micro SD card reader and inserted it into multiple computers running XP, vista and ubuntu...they all registered that i had plugged something in but wouldn't show it as a disk drive...now i've already figured out how to access it but i put a new ROM image on it and tried to reflash but after the flash when my phone booted up it simply switched itself off... when i switched it back on it went back to the bootloader and tried to reflash the ROM. mid flash it just switches itself off... I realize that this is probably due to the charge level of the phone so i plugged it it but it will be off and charging then it will suddenly decide its got enough battery power and boot up to the bootloader screen until it dies again...how do i stop this vicious loop

can you put your phone into bootloader mode (power and vol down together whilst powering on)? be a good idea to remove your sd card first.

I can't really manually put it into bootloader mode, but when the phone thinks its charged enough it will start up itself and go into bootloader mode

Does your phone say "RUUNBH" in the top right corner? Have you yanked out your battery then put it back in before charging? Those are the two things I would try. And BTW, in the future you shouldn't create two threads in different parts of the forum.

yea im sorry its just my phones been down for days and its really bugging me and i just want to get this fixed and my phone does say RUUNBH in the top right corner and i have yanked out the battery waited a few seconds for good measure and put it back in before charging...it still just loops into bootloader before dieing and charging again
Phone started up again this is what it says in bootloader
RHOD300 32 M SS-BC RUUNBH in top right
SPL-0.85.Olinex
MicroP(LED) 0x0A
MircroP(KEY) 0x04
TURBO HW/TURBO SW
TP MFG DATA
then it has some numbers and code error under it with try again
then it says 218,842 calibrated

Okay, the problem is that the RUU flag is set, and the device won't do anything until that is cleared. What you need to do is establish a connection via MTTY. Follow the instructions here about how to connect to your device via MTTY. Once you get an MTTY connection established with your device (it may take awhile, MTTY is quirky like that), simply type
Code:
set 16 0
You may need to manually soft reset the device. Then, I highly recommend flashing to a stock ROM using the microSD card method, before flashing another cooked ROM.

I was trying to install a new ROM on my Cingular 8125 when my computer died. It has a power supply issue. Anyways, the rom reflash was at 71% when it died. Now, whenever I turn the phone on it hangs at the rainbow screen. How do I get out of this mess and get back to a point where I can continue to upgrade the rom? My computer doesn't recognize it when I plug it into the USB port, but the text "USB" does show up on the phone. Help?

Did you take a backup of the ROM first? Do a search for boot loader and you should be able to find something to help - especially if you took a flash backup first.

If you get to the "rainbow screen" then your bootloader is OK. Just plug it back into your PC and re-run the upgrader.
Yep, you're fine. I just upgraded my ROM to summiter's latest release (which is running great btw) and my computer shut off two times during a flash! I eventually figured out that the ROM upgrader was pegging my CPU at 100% and the processor was reaching its temperature limits.
I was a bit scared the first time that happened, but I was able to just take out the battery, put it back in, and then run the RRU program again.

Laptop Blue Screen While upgrading (Do i have a New brick?)

I was flashing my phone which i have done a thousand times, however this time my laptop blue screened at 98%. Now my phone is stuck with the red, green and blue bars. It does however connect to the USB (usb shows up on bottom right).
What can i do now, is the phone shot?
Thx.
Eric
As long as you have the USB in the corner you are good. I would just flash it back to the stock ROM and then go from there.
I can't seem to re-flash i get error 300 when using RUU 2.00.1

Try first to normal routine, take the battery out, wait a sec, put it in again and start.
Connect and if your lucky it will start normal (1%) otherwise flash again.
Normally it should accept the ROM which you had on last.
Don't worry it's not bricked, happened to me at least a dozen time. I have a ASUS Laptop which overheats and shuts down when flashing....
I have removed the battery and reinstalled, then when powered up it did not start over again. Just boots back to the bootloader screen where it displays IPL 2.24 and SPL 2.24. When connected via USB it will show that. I can connect to the phone via MTTY however the set commands dont seem to work and the task commands give me an invalid command error.
Thx.
Eric.
I MTTY to write a known good backup to an sd card from a wizard that was working, i got my phone to boot to the screen that asks to apply image from SD card. After about 30 minutes i get a message that says Sucess. Press any key. When i press any key i go back to the bootloader, when i power off and on i just go to the boot loader. I do notice that my IPL / SPL versions are different.
What's going on here? Is there a way to write the image files used in this process to the SD from windows so i can try a different image? When i try to view the card in windows now it asks to format it.
Eric.

pls help. can't flash my blackstone

hi people.
hopefully 1 of you guys can help.
i flashed a dutty rom on my blackstone a while ago, and everything went fine. then a month or so later, for no reason, my fone just shuts off, 5 or 6 times a day. so i decided to flash the original software to see if its a hardware prob and then hopefully get the fone replaced.
the only problem is i managed to sync my fone ONCE since i put dutty's rom on and never since then. even in boot loader the fone only ever says "serial" and never, ever usb. i've tried different leads, different pc's, and these leads and pc's will connect to my old trinity which still flashes a dream!
so i reckon there must be some connection prob in the blackstone itself. any thoughts?
i read somewhere that you can flash from the memory card. so i got a rom, and copied it to the root of the card, then started in bootloader. it flashed up a grey screen with some writing on, then straight to the bootloader screen so fast, i never got chance to read what it said. did i not get something right?
the rom is titled "BLACIMG.nbh" on the card
thx in advance

First off all Flashing queries should be posted in this thread.
To answer your question.......If you are only getting 'serial' at bottom of bootloader I'd recommend flashing original stock rom which came with your device first before trying to flash a cooked rom. This original stock rom can be flashed even if it states 'serial' in bootloader (note - this is the only rom this will work with). Stock roms can be found here. Once you have flashed this stock rom, use this guide to flash rom
For your info, flashing from sd card should be done as follows:
Copy BLACIMG.nbh into the root dir of your Storage Card.
Be sure to have at least 30% of charge.
Turn off your device by using the Power Button
If you use HardSPL: Go to bootloader mode. Push and hold Vol Down + press Power button. The device will display a message and offer you to flash.
If you use USPL: Remove your microSD card first to prevent starting the flash, then go into bootloader mode. When in bootloader mode insert the card and follow the instructions on the USPL page to start USPL. The device will restart into USPL and will now present you the message to flash.
As soon as presented the message, push Power button to start flashing or Volume Down button to cancel.
The whole procedure will take about 3 minutes. After you finish and see the relative message, soft reset your device, you are ready.
Please post further flashing queries in dummies guide thread

How to flash phone without activesync or access to memory?

My phone got wet and now it starts up but gives me the black screen where I can press volumeup to hard reset, but it doesn't respond when I do this. I'm trying to flash it or do something to fully revert it to a brand new state, but I obviously can't use active sync and cannot get access to the phone's internal memory. How can I do anything?
flash through sd card. good luck with that. Hope you did try the phone completely
I was hoping there was a way to flash with just the sd card. Would you be kind enough to at least link me to where I could find instructions for this?
The phone is dry. It starts up fine and keeps on, stuck at that black screen. It's been a while since I got it wet.
Thanks.

Well it won't matter because it has water damage. Are the little stickers inside pink? If so then they will charge you for any repairs so it won't matter what ROM you have on..
Who will charge me for repairs?
I don't recall ever saying that I will give it in for repairs, because I am aware of the voiding of the warranty when the wet seal becomes pink. Because I realize all of this, I decided to give it a chance flashing the phone and starting it with a new install to see if that would work, as my last chance to get anything out of it.

Thanks, but I checked those instructions out already, and they assume that I am able to use activesync with the phone. The phone doesn't boot far enough for activesync on my computer to recognize it. All I can do it insert the 16gb microsd card into my usb card reader and put whatever I want on it, and then back into the phone. I would think there is a way to just put the rom onto the sd card and put it into the phone, and then press some kind of bootloader startup key combination so that the phone goes straight to the installation.

If you take a look a little further down the very same page that SonyEX1 provided, you will see this:
Flashing Via MicroSD Card
1. Make sure your microSD is Formatted to fat32 (you dont have to delete all files but it is safer if you do)
2. Download your prefered Rom from the Rhodium Rom Develpoment Page and unzip/unrar it to your PC
3. Goto the Roms Folder and rename the .nbh file to RHODIMG.nbh
4. Copy the RHODIMG.nbh file to the root of your MicroSD Card
5. Plug the MicroSD Card into the phone
6. Enter the BootLoader screen, you will first see a tri-color screen with the phone and SPL Information at the top
7. Follow the On Screen instructions to start the update
8. After flash has completed, press the reset button with the stylus to reset the device.
As has been stressed many a time on this forum, please make sure that you read through all of the instructions (entire page) very carefully prior to flashing.

Thanks, I noticed that note at the end of the post, but the only rom that I think I would be able to flash is the stock one, because I don't have HardSPL. I can't get HardSPL because I can't activesync the phone to my pc. So I pretty much need the stock rom in nbh format to try anything at all.
I noticed that when I enter the bootloader and plug the phone in to my computer via usb, the computer detects something and says that an htc device is attached, but microsoft activesync still doesn't recognize it and the phone doesn't show up in my computer.
So I guess the search is on to find an .nbh format for the stock rom.

I am not sure what carrier you are on, but if you download the stock ROM from whichever carrier you need (or the generic HTC ones if you have an unbranded one) it should be an .EXE file.
You should be able to right-click on the .EXE and extract the contents into a temp directory using any decent compression software (I use 7-zip). There should be a RUU_signed.nbh file that you can rename, copy to your microSD and manually flash from there.
(And if you already didn't know, you enter bootloader mode by first powering off the phone, hold down the VOL Down key, and power the phone back up while holding the VOL Down key. You should then see the tri-color screen above. This part isn't mentioned in the instructions above and assumes you already know how to get into bootloader mode.)
Thanks. I didn't know that you could extract .exe's, so I have been searching and found someone's uploaded stock rom in .nbh format. I put it on the sd card and went to the bootloader with it. Right now, It's been at a white screen that just says "Loading...". This has been going on for the past 5 minutes without changing. I don't know how a successfull rom flash is supposed to look like, so I don't know if it's working or not.
Is it supposed to be moving or what? How long do I wait before snatching the battery?
UPDATE:
I guess the stock rom that I tried previously was faulty or something, because it was hung on the loading screen, so I downloaded the TMOUSA one from their website, extracted the NBH, and put it on the SD card. Everything started looking really good because I had a progress bar and it said something like Radio OK and something else was OK and it was loading the ROM, and then all of a sudden it rebooted into the bootloader, gave some kind of error that I can't really read because it is written on top of the other text in the bootloader, goes into the Loading screen to begin installing the rom, and then reboots again. This is the loop that takes place right now.
It seems like the problem is a dead battery though, because it started flashing fine that first time, and now the phone won't even turn on unless I plug it into USB power from the wall or a PC. But when I do plug it in, it just goes through this bootloader loop. So here is where I'm stuck.
It seems like I need a fully charged battery to attempt to reflash the stock rom or install any other rom because when the phone is in bootloader, it doesn't charge the battery, and I have no means of charging it.

you should be able to charge te phone when it is completely off/ Pull the battery out, put it back in (do not power it up), and charge it over night (or at leastfor a couple hrs)
If the phone was fine before you got it wet, what makes you think re-flashing the stock rom will make it better?
I once crashed my ROM while flashing and wasn't able to do at least anything.
There was no USB-Connection or something else.
At last I entered the bootloader and there the USB-Connection was working and my Computer recognized the Mobile. So I suggest you to try this. To enter the bootloader look for any tutorials around here.
Edit: Aaargh, havn't seen your last post, so forget about it

Because as I've mentioned previously, after getting wet, the phone boots up into a black screen where it tells me that I can press the VolUP button to hard reset or anything else to soft reset. Pressing any keys at that point doesn't do anything and I can only shut it down by taking out the battery. So I decided to at least try reflashing the rom. It looked like it was installing fine with the last power the battery had, but now I have no hope.

i have heard of shops that charge batteries up but never seen one. I suppose you may be able to buy a stand alone battery dock if they do one for the Touch Pro 2. Dont you know anyone with the same phone that could charge it for you?
No I don't really know anyone with the same phone. I've called 4 shops and all said that they either don't have the same phone to put the battery in to charge, or can't perform this kind of service. I ended up taking apart a usb cable and formulating my own usb charger. Charging right now, will report on how this worked out.
Ok. This is the kind of device i meant.

Energy Rom Problem

For the past few months I've been flashing separate Energy Roms onto my tilt 2. I finally found one that I liked and stuck with it for the past few weeks, which was the Dinik Glass Energy rom.
Everything was running great until last night when I was watching a video on You tube and everything froze up. I pulled the battery out and turned the phone back on and now it keeps going to the boot loader screen....
I've tried re flashing different roms to see if that would work but I've gotten nothing out of it.
If anyone could let me know of anything that i could possibly do to try and fix this I would be highly appreciative of it.
I dont know what may have caused the problem but in your situation i would have tried to do task29, flash radio and then flash a new ROM. this is normally how i flash my roms but task29 may remove somethin that may be causing the problem. if you have already done so, sorry for wasting 5 secs of your life ... let me know if it worked
Can you show me where I can dl task 29 at?
I had the same thing happen to my tilt2 last week!
Use task 29,
dont freak out when it only shows the screen that says touch pro 2.
Enter into bootloader and run ruu from there, it will fix everything.
Dont flash with sd card in or it will happen again.
I had to clear my sd card and reload it! good luck.
one more thing after task 29 do not disconnect from usb until you load next rom, that is what worked for me best.
hope it helps
I used the RUU and i tried reloading the ROM but it still starts in boot loader screen every time.
Should I just hit the hard reset?
you have nothing to loose by a hard reset at this point ... IF that works.
If I hard reset it will I have to flash a hard spl again?
Ok i noticed that yoy are pritty confused about the terminolog, so here is some help:
1. Task 29 - delets your rom of the phone so your phone become practicly unuseble.
2. HardSpl - "Unocks" (allowes) the phone for flashing custom made roms - i.e. all roms and ro preform Task 29.
3. Hard rest - reinstalls allready flashed rom.
4. Soft reset restart the phone - on/of
5. BOOTLOADER - allowes you to flash without activesync and from Sd card.
When any problem turns on with phene i usually check to see if there is any connection running. I discovered that too much internet over phone makes a phone buggy dissregarding the rom.
You dont have to hardspl phone again, once you did is enough.
Okay well here is the problem then... every time I turn the phone on it goes straight to bootloader. The only button I press to turn the phone on is the main power button. I've ran the custom RUU twice now. I've tried flashing a new rom onto the phone via sd card but it still turns on in bootloader mode. I'm nearly freaking out now because I'm led to believe I've got a bricked piece of $hit.
I hate sounding like a noob but if there is some way someone could run a step by step process to me that works I might through some $$ via pay pal.

I had the same problem with a phone about a month ago. I was able to flash the stock rom and it would boot up then put on the stock SPL and relock the phone. Sometimes I was able to take the battery out and get it to boot but even with the stock ROM I was getting the bootloader at startup. So once I reloaded the stock ROM and relocked it, I returned it and got a replacement.
Sorry, nothing I did every resolved the problem.
good luck.
I agree with taking everything back to stock
flash stock rom
do a spl relock
and start over...
oh, and dont forget about radios! idk if that could be part of the problem tho
I never changed the radio's so I should be good to go then, just the stock rom?
Try this :
- Enter bootloader
- Connect USB cable so "serial" in the bootloader changed to "USB"
- Perform Task29
- Reset
- If the phone enters bootloader skip this step. If not, hold volume down key while resetting (push the reset switch with stylus). The phone will enter bootloader.
- Flash a stock ROM. Download it from HTC website if you don't have one.
- Reboot.
Ow, the stock ROM also contains Radio. So Flashing with stock ROM will flash your radio also.

If so how did the workers at the ATT store react to that so I know what to expect?

How would you recommend that I flash the stock ROM back on?
I'm kind of confused because I've always flashed with my SD card, how do I do it through my USB? Could you give me a step by step?
Well, those steps I wrote are basically "step-by-step how to flash from usb".
Allow me to clear it:
- Enter bootloader -> Hold volume down button while pushing the reset switch
- Connect USB cable to your computer. and wait until the "serial" word in the bootloader changed to "USB"
- Perform Task29, download task29 and unzip it. run ROMUpdateUtility.exe. Follow the instruction.
- Reset/reboot. well, the phone will reboot itself after task29 is completed
- If the phone enters bootloader skip this step. If not, hold volume down key while resetting (push the reset switch with stylus). The phone will enter bootloader. Connect the usb cable again to your computer (if you disconnect it.) and wait until the word "serial" changed to "usb" again.
- Flash a stock ROM. Download it from HTC website if you don't have one. Just run the exe file you downloaded and follow the wizard.
- Reboot.
I reccomend you to flash with stock ROM because Stock ROMs are "Guaranteed to work(at least by HTC )" and contains radio that may be the cause of your problem. there's no need to flash to stock SPL, yet.
I was stuck in bootloader...
You can find task 29 here. I always do this before flashing.
After task 29, make sure USB is still plugged in and enter bootloader by holding Volume Down key while hitting the reset button. You should see USB on the bottom of the bootloader screen.
Now you should be able to flash the NRG ROM by running the RUU in the same folder as your ROM (rhodium.nbh file).
If this doesn't help, search the entire forum for "stuck in bootloader." I did this and it saved me the hassle of the warranty process.

When you returned your phone and got a replacement was your phone starting in boot loader?
If so how did the workers at the ATT store react to that so I know what to expect?

I was able to get it to boot to the ROM by removing the battery several times and reinserting, powering on until it boot. I am on TMobile and called them and they sent me a new phone and returned the old through the mail after expalining the problem. So never went into the store.
good luck.
