I haven't yet divined the relationship between xda-devs and ppcgeeks, so maybe it's more Cain and Abel than Yin and Yang - but anyone here know why PPCGeeks is down?
Before it went offline the site started redirecting me to some torrent/porn malware site. It happened with every form link. Then it went offline. Then I came back to XDA and I no longer feel the need to make an abundance of waffles to fill the void.
All is well...for now.
It seemed to be redirecting earlier to a dupedb--quick searching on the name took me to a neowin's forum post about a similar hijacking they had.
awww such a shame, I guess douchey moderating eventually comes back to bite them!

It was a redirect to dupedb that was injected into their code. This can either be due to a vulnerability with the software versions they use on their server, compromised administrative credentials, or other stupid stuff.
My guess is that the site was taken offline in order to fix the problem.

whats fishy to me is the fact that the 680 maint release supposedly not out until 10/22 has been out for sometime and it is 10/19, and the 750 WM6 update due out 10/15 which isn't out at all. Personally i think it is a rouse. Also if you click the link for the 680 maint release it has a really long link which includes the words support, US for the country etc etc. If you do the same for the 750 update, it is mearly www.palm.com/750updateatt which have you ever seen a download link completely missing specific info. try it yourself, compare the links. you will see what i mean.

Very strange, and it was my first dream in a long time, let alone ever dreaming of a phone or software lol
so in my dream i had an in-person discussion with NilsP about his ROM about how i think he should add the 5 latest apps to the transparent dropdown. No biggie, 10min convo
Now im warped a few days later and im at like a BBQ party, and i meet someone and start showing him my phone and a few ROMs i had on backup
I pull down the transparent dropdown and see some chrome looking skulls, with red glowy eyes ... 5 of them across the top of the dropdown where the apps would be!!
So i say wtf is this? Maybe i never really broke in NilsP's ROM and its just now initializing or something??
Now the phone reboots itself and its some chromed skull theme, and the 5 recent apps are in the dropdown!!
In my dream i was kicking myself trying to figure out how the hell this ROM all of a sudden had it! Or did NilsP find a way to hack into my phone and add the feature i begged him for??
Last thing i remember is being puzzled and stumped, then i woke up
stupid as hell, but thats it lol

It's the truth. Just take a look at the number of off topic posts in this forum alone each day. There are the best devs on xda, but along with that comes some of the dumbest posts I've seen on any forum.

I usually ignore the dumb posts and the front page of this forum continually stays on topic about new gifts to the community. You take back that comment or we're done talking. You lumped a lot of people into that.

Was that a deletion by user or deletion by mod? It's a shame to think that the rom community for this device is going to be killed off by xda.

Without saying who's right or wrong, it is always a sad when developers leave, whether it is Bananacakes or Wild Child. I'm glad that both has decided to continue to cook ROMs for our tiny community, whether it is on this site or another.
With what both chefs have done for the community, I think they both deserve better than to be spoken poorly upon. Hopefully all that has been said are done from the supporters of either, because they deserve better...

I agree, we need both devs and regardless of what's going on they make a difference for our (when stock) crappy phones. What they have done is the only reason I want to grab this slab up in the am, lol.. respects to you both , come back Yal.......

I'll get with you when I'm not mobile. There was also a thread I deleted last night that I need to dig through and issue infractions and possibly some temporary bans. It disturbs me to see people attacking and threatening each other.
