Guys,
on the open home screen the two tabs at the side, one to store fav apps the one on the left when I click it just takes me to google search widget.
Is there a way to change this or is this just how it is.
Seems pointless having this and the google search widget as part of the skin too.
Not quite unerstanding what you mean. Are you talking about the little tabs either side of the bigger phone button at the bottom left and right of the screen?
If so the one of the left with the up arrow inside a circle goes to a list of all of your apps (not just your favourites). the one on the right with a + sign is for adding widgets or shortcuts to the screen you are in.
He's talking about the pull-out drawer and button at the bottom of openhome.
They can be turned off in the OpenHome settings, IIRC (menu > more > OpenHome settings), Though I can't check as I no longer use openhome.

Hi,
Thanks for response, I managed to work it out in the end last night.
I'm having a lot of force closing and some random rebooting though with Open Home and not sure why. Any suggestions? - it's happened on the older version and now the newer one.

I just noticed that the Windows icon on the upper left of my screen which opens the start menu, is cut off. Only the left half is visible and it makes it more difficult to tap to open since the icon width is half the original size. Is there a way to fix this?? BTW I did a search and there was no info available on this...
try schaps advanced config,if problems still happens then try hard resetting, you might need a different rom

This was an Issue on Dutty's April 1 Hybrid ROM. Did you look in there for solutions? I don't think there was. Was a bug in the Rom.
Thanks for responding. I was finally able to figure this one out. I opened WkTask from preferences and there is a setting for horizontal offset. I just increased the value in the box and it fixed it in "real time" ie as I increased the number the open program field moved to the right, uncovering the Windows icon and giving me improved access to tapping it to open the start menu. All is well!
So I just got CM7 running on my SD card and was loading Netflix when I noticed that the icon with 4 boxed that lets u view your apps that is located in the small 3 icon tool bar thing at the bottom of the screen is gone. Is there another way to get to my apps or some way to get back the icon.
You might try hitting menu on the home screenm-->settings-->ADWLauncher-->Reset ADW
Just a shot in the dark here, but I'm guessing that will fix it.
Also in the menu you can go to general behavior-->Swipe up action and swipe down action, which will allow you to set what happens when you swipe up or down on the homescreen. Personally, I don't even use the 3 little icons, I just have swiping down display the app drawer.

On the Home screen, tap and hold on the empty space to bring up "Add to Home screen" window, then tap the "Launcher Actions" then select "Open/close App Drawer". It will bring the icon back on your Home screen, from there, you can drag it back to one of the 3 boxes on the Dock bar.
I kept having to reset it and got tired of that so I deleted the bar and put the icon on the screen itself. It hasn't disappeared yet since doing that.

It does not "disappear", you're removing it. Put it back and select "Lock desktop". You'll have to unlock when you want to change stuff on the desktop.

Hi, i tried this and it worked just fine. Thanks alot !! Clicked Thanks
More things some people might just not know about, if you do, good for you, if you don't you do now! If you have more common but, not so general knowledge, post it!
1. Pull down your notification curtain and long press on one of the toggles. If you long press on WiFi it will bring you to the settings page for WiFi, if you long press on Bluetooth it will take you to Bluetooth settings page and so on.
2. On the LGHome launcher if you go to the app drawer and press the menu capacitive button and select "layout" you can choose to have your apps in categories, as seperate pages or one long vertical list.
3. If you are in category view you can "close" pinch the screen and the categories will roll up for better view. If you look at the bottom of the screen you will see two options "Manage App" and "Manage Category".
"Manage App" will let you move apps from category to category and you can easily uninstall apps from the app drawer this way.
"Manage Category" will let you add new categories and rearrange them if you would like, you can't remove the default categories though. Say you want "Games" "Utilities" and "Forum Apps" seperated, this is how you would do it without making folders.
4. While in List view you can "close" pinch the screen to collapse the alphabetical categories for another easy way to navigate apps.
5. Instead of pulling apps from the app drawer one by one, long click the homepage and select "Shortcuts" at the bottom, then select "Applications" here you can choose multiple apps at one time, a "batch" add.
6. When you go to contacts, "close" pinch on the screen to collapse alphabetical categories as well. I find this MUCH faster than scrolling down with the side bar.
7. You can change the middle two dock icons if you long press the app from the app drawer you can place it where you want to replace the existing icon. However you cannot delete icons from the dock, only over write. For example you cannot have 3 icons (including the app drawer).
8. On LGHome launcher up at the top you will see the Desktop Indicators if you press on the either side of the middle circle it will quickly take you to either the first or last Desktop. You must press on the dots themselves for this to work. This is handy for those that have a lot of Desktops all filled with stuff, if you are on the first Desktop and need something from the SECOND to last Desktop you can just click on the right side of the middle dot then scroll back one to the Desktop you need. It beats flicking across your screen 5-6 times, you can reduce that to a press and one fling.
I can't think of any more off the top of my head but, if I remember or discover anything else that's common but, not so general knowledge I will be sure to post it.
Is there any way to change the 4 static quick shortcuts at the bottom of the main screen?
Yes, (but only the middle 2) if you long press the app from the app drawer you can place it where you want to replace the existing icon. However you cannot delete icons from the dock, only over write. For example you cannot have 3 icons (including the app drawer).

Edited first post with the tip above ^^^^^ and another for the LGHome launcher.
Long press the power button together with the Home button. After the click a screendump will be available in /mnt/sdcard/CapturedImages
I've somehow managed to lock all the widgets and icons! I can no longer long press to remove them, or bring up a long press menu. I seem to remember there is a setting somewhere that I was going to check to see if it got checked by accident, but I can't find it.
A reboot into WebOS and back did not fix (but it was worth a try!)
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
I found the setting finally (for anyone who manages to do the same). Hit the second from left icon at the bottom (the one next to the "home" icon, then hit "more" which is bottom left. There are two settings there - "Wallpaper" and "Lock/Unlock Desktop".
Hope that helps!
Today I bought the HTC One with the surprise that it doesn't have a dedicated menu button. I am guessing that sometime in the future this will get remedied somehow, but in the meantime is there a workaround for this?
For example, on my previous HTC Desire phone, I was using Launcher8 as my main launcher however to edit its settings I'd need to press the menu button and then press settings.
Without a dedicated menu button, I can't find anyway to change its settings. So is there any way to get around this? or will I need to root my phone and install a new ROM for this? (which I don't want to do at the moment in case I void my warranty).
look for three dots in a line going downward on the screen, press that for the menu, there is no dedicated hard menu button

Yeah I saw the menu icon in some apps, but I tried it on Launcher8 and the only way to access the settings was from the homescreen itself. There are no menu icons to press to get the settings as far as I am seeing.
EDIT: Actually, nevermind. I found that I can make an icon for it.
This will be fixed when HTC finally delivers 4.2.2. The leaked versions let you assign holding down the home button for settings. They should have done it like this in the first place. The 3 dots thing looks hideous.
