Hey all, I wanted to know if this would be a really far fetched request, Everyone obviously is making custom roms, and they all look great, but would anyone be willing to make the latest release (build 23518 is it?) completely stock with no modifications or tweaks? Or is this a post that I'm going to get blasted for?
Only because this way we could see how the actual stock rom is handled by the TP2, and some of the add-ons we could just install. I know it takes up more then when its cooked into the rom.
Unless there is already one of these then I bw my head in shame for this post

I 've been moved to another device last year, and my old-good hima needs a stable-good and (if there is) vanilla wm6.1 rom.
I 'm hearing your suggestions.
Thank you.
All ROMs on this forum are stable. For WM6.1, u can try any ROM based on build 19213 or 20262. I myself use the sun_dream ROM based on build 20262.
bump!
Can you also suggest of WM6.1 ROMS that are quite clean (like Tof_clock's 6.0 ROM). By clean I mean one that's pretty much the real 6.1 with only the pure useless features removed, and that's only added with really vital add-ons, not too many customizations done by the cooks that will make you feel "OMG this feels like someone else's PocketPC". Something very similar to Tof_clock's. I really love that ROM
Thank you.

If you can show me a device manufacturer that sells uncustomized ROMs on their devices you will very soon find a clean ROM here. Until then, it is likely the ROMs here will resemble the device they were ported from.
Hi all,
I am a new user to PDA phones and I have read through the wiki about this cell,
but I still have sth to ask.
1. What is Manila?
2. How can configure or add themes and tab icons in the TF3D?
Please give me a hand in starting to know more about the machine, Thx
Someone can expand or correct, this is just how I understand it to be.
1. Manilla\Rhodium = TouchFlo3d interface from HTC. It will be called TF3d as well.
Titanium = Windows Mobile 6.5 overlay that is turned on and off via Start\Settings\Today\Items\Windows Default
2. use TF3d to search. So search 'add tabs tf3d' and see if that helps.
Thanks for the answer,
I also see that there is a lot of topics about err,
upgrading the official ROMs into Custom made ROMs,
Is there anything I should notice about upgrading ROMs,
and also wt is the advantage of using 'em?

read the stickies and make sure you know what are the steps to follow to flash a rom. follow them literally. if you don't you might "brick" your phone. when u get used to flashing, the process will be easy to follow, just take your time getting used to WinMo before flashing.
Moving from a stock ROm to a Custom ROM is easy and worth the 'risk' in my opinion. You can find all you need within the Wiki to get started with the flashing of HARDSPL. You will then choose a custom ROM and then flash that ROM to your device. You will lose all data on the phone so make sure you sync before you start.
I personally am using the Energy Rom 3.0 series and I like it.
A cooked ROM or a custom ROM is created by a person (usually with a ROM kitchen) and it removes items the cook thinks are not needed and they often add in tweaks, programs and graphical enhancements.
Some people are looking for a custom ROM that makes their device fast, while others are looking to maximize their TouchFlo3D experience. I persoanlly use Energy ROM because it is Windows Mobile 6.5, it contains Titanium (the WM6.5 touch friendly interface) and because the cook put in plenty of programs and tweaks that I would do on my own.
After I install the ROM, I do go through and install all my own programs. Not every cooked ROM will match your own needs so that is when people begin cooking their own ROM within a kitchen.
I have downloaded the kitchen and attempted to cook a ROM but I find using someone else's is a bit easier.
MSVC is Microsoft Voice Command. So when you are looking for ROMS you might see that acronym.
Now that we have all the components to cook clean X1 roms based on 6.5 I wonder why nobody has done it yet? No HTC stuff. With new builds we can have updates as if it where SE who releasing them. Also goodies from X2 can be included.
hmmm, i wonder who will too...regardless how clean they say it is you will always find some additional app you dont want that was cooked into the rom, and you wont be able to delete it after flashing
i hope the chefs here who cook clean ROMs do cook a clean rom and leave all 3rd party apps for us to add only if we want, for example, i do not use finger keyboard and i stumbled upon a clean rom with fingerkeyboard, including a few other 3rd party apps, the ROm was good, but i hate to know there is an app on my x1 that is 3rd party that i do not want and cannot remove....
it cannot be clean if you add anything 3rd party...clean means strictly M$ and SE
well thats why i am still on the R3A SEUS fed me, when 6.5 is done and we get the new panel manager and so on then i will cook my own custom rom; it will look as tho it came from SEUS
you could try:
Christian's Rom - Dutch\WWE wm 6.5.1 build 23053 - R3AA Based - "Clean" And "Full" Version Its both in Dutch and English versions
that includes fingerkeyboard! personally i wouldn't mind but you could just install the fingerkeyboard cab, then uninstall it, thus removing fingerboard and you having a completely clean wm.6.5.1 +panels!
Pure Xperia
You should try this :
Pure Series http://www.wcxxperia-nce.com/
I am quite ocd with custom roms that are overloaded with apps and TF3D which i hate and i was quite reluctant to install anything but the stock ROM but Christian's rom is now permanent on my phone.
Still no sign of a clean, I mean fully clean rom based on 6.5 using latest builds. It should be up to the user to install whatever they want. I know all the cooks on the board does a perfect job but still there is not a option for many of us outhere that still want it to be only SE with 6.5 build.

Exactly, there are no clean roms at this point, just lite versions... i do hope we can find one sometime with the wm 6.5...i prefer to install my own apps due to the fact that the 3rd party apps chefs do cook in the roms i never use

same thing, custom icons, battery enhancers and so on, is not clean, clean means everything OEM from Sony Ericsson without any tweaking and the clean stuff from the leaked M$ builds
Hey guys
You know, using Ervius kitchen, it is not THAT hard to cook your own build.
In fact I was looking for a french clean ROM and was able to do it.
I am currently running WM6.5 with build 23052, nd its running perfect.
Maybe you could give it a try, there are lots of people here who would be very pleased to give you an hand if you get stuck somewhere

I fully agree. Clean means nothing added. Strange that there is no cook that can grant us that.
as mentioned earlier by augie7107 and 63ORGE

Ok. I will try your cooking. Hope that it is 100 % clean and based on latest build. Looking forward to it.
cant be the latest build dude, the panels and the panel manager doesnt fit the screen properly with the latest wm 6.5 build, lets hope this is something in the build that M$ will fix soon that all 6.1 apps can auto adjust...for example resco file manager... or lets hope we can get the new panel manager from the x2 after release
Actually it is/was but the fixes have to be added in this week to clear up what is wrong with the new ui and certain things that the new ui breaks in manila...personally the latest is quite ugly and my xperia-nce rom is released with it only as a courtesy to those who like the new look...but not my preference....an older sys is used for the pure rom....if you had read before you came back to comment...the only errors with the new ui are with the manila oem based , not the pure rom....
Regards,
WC

I ask because I'm new to this device and I'm moving from a device that got very little attention. Right now I'm using Energy Rom "Leo" 23518 Jan 20th. I want to know as I'm sure most others would like to aswell. This thread will not only evaluate rom stability as a whole but see which ones are more popular. I'm sorry if someone thinks this belongs in general but I think its more useful here.
PS: Please mention UC compatibility as that's an important factor in choosing a rom aswell.
i was using Energy Rom "Leo" 23518 Jan 20th along with the previous versions from the day i got my tp2. very cool roms. I think he is great at making custom roms but since tmobile released there 6.5 i flashed it to check it out and was going to go back to the energy rom but i gotta tell ya the official tmo rom suprised me so much im leaving it on my device. besides a few reg modifications and adding a few of the apps that normally come with most of the custom roms on here. The tmo rom is the best to me. 3 of the biggest issues i had with most of the custom roms ive tried were memory usage, freezing to the point i have to reboot and the clock being wrong.
"best rom" threads are not allowed, closing thread.
Hi Guys!
I'm what you guys call "the new kid who want's to play". I have various experience in Android flashing and updating, but I still have none kind of experience in building a Custom ROM.
But I said: What the hell! Let's try it! So I took a quick lesson at Nokia7Vista's tutorial on Youtube. I don't know if I can post links, but you can find it if you want to.
Anyway, My first ROM booted, and was based on the contents of Deodexed JW1. It has only some apps included, so no big deal here. But I wanted some experience before I get to the real thing.
OK, so I finished that, and I got to the real business:
I've started searching some of the best Custom ROM's out there. I found OserX's One, GalaxyDroid and S.U.R.F.A.C.E to meet my likes. I inspired myself from there (downloaded the 3) and took some apps, system tweaks, etc from them. OserX is JVZ, the other 2 are JW1. My ROM Was based on JW1 and was Odexed (like OserX and Surface). From what I know, JVZ and JW1 are pretty much the same ROM. Still, I didn't took anything from there but apps.
I've changed my drivers to the Nexus S drivers, and the framework-res.apk to get a CRT-on/off effect (Downloaded from this site, it's for JW1).
Basically, I did some mod's that everyone has did before. Still, when I flash the ROM, it get's stuck at the Galaxy S LOGO, (not bootanimation).
What should I do? What can be the cause of this?
Thanks...
Still no answer...
Now I understand the n00bs that post in the Development Section. Here no one f(^&&^5ing listen...
And I am no N00b, I'm just new to Custom ROM's ...I've posted to the right section, and still...no answer after a couple of days! That sucks!
Try sending a pm to one of those developers.
I've never created a Android ROM (although I used to on WM6.5).
The biggest advice that I can give to you is to go slow: Try to create a ROM in small steps - one change at a time. Very ften you'll find out that two apps supposedly working ok are incompatible with each other. The same applies to drivers and changes alike. So, if version 0.01 works and 0.02 don't, it's just a matter of see what's changed and try to figure why that change caused the new ROM to stop working.
I also agree with Valinorian - try PM experienced developers - we all walked that path already. But please: one change at a time.
