Anyway we can get the gallery app on 2.1, ive tried it on my hero on some 2.1 roms and it can easily run it,
anyone tried porting it for 1.5?
I don't think it can be backported to cupcake, no - best just to wait the few shorts weeks for Hero Eclair
i mean as an apk. so i can run modaco rom
as non of the 2.x roms support games very well

Back in the days of Android 1.6 there were multiple cupcake roms which included the camera and music apps from the HTC Hero.
I am trying to find these again and was wondering if anyone has gotten these two apps running in the latest cyanogen rom (4.2.5). Can anyone give me some information on this and links to the old threads explaining how the ports were done?
No the HTC framework which those ran on havent been ported to donut by HTC
Hi,
last time i tested the MLIGN Hero Rom...
I really like the look of the whole rom like noothers!
Now i search a faster and very stable rom of the hero look.
The CyanogenMod hasn't such a good theme....
The best is when the Rom with hero look have the newest features of Android 2.1, but that isn't a must, because with 1.5 i haven't any reduction compare to newer android roms or???
ScorqYoN
You should try try Jac's hero rom its pretty fast.
Is it regulary updated???
Is it the best hero rom???
Have i any disadvantages because android 1.5??? (compare to CM 1.6 or 2.1...)???

Maybe certain apps wont show up but Jac's hero hasnt been updated in like 4 months but its faster than the newer 1.5 heros like MLIGN or sensehero and the others. But King's 2.1 hero is good cause i can open the KB on home and its 2.1 so new apps show in market.
So kings hero is android 2.1 with new features etc and has hero look???
Is it also fast and stable???
Do bluetooth work???
Kings hero the best???

Bluetooth will never work on hero for 32B hardware but it works fine for 32A magic users. There are only 2 2.1 heros out, Espresso & Eclair hero. Depends on what you mean fast, for basic task its fine but not for everyday use. Espresso has been my daily rom and backup but its fine for me.
I have a HTC Dream, so never Bluetooth?
Where do i find espresso or eclair hero???
Is there a good CyanogenMod normal hero theme for CM, because i find only special mix of hero themes, like community hero mix. But i want normal hero theme...
They are all in the dev section, just page through it or search. Do a nandroid backup first and try them out yourself.
I want the 1.5 hero browser with flash in either super d 1.7 or kings 2.1 eclair or I would settle for kings hero eclair browser with flash in kings 2.1 eclair
kings eclair 2.1 runs very good for me with overclockerwidget and droid swapper set at 90 swap with 80 swappiness.
the only thing I hate about eclair is the eclair browser.
I just thought the mighty max hero browser was really fast and smooth.
I really want to learn how to do this myself and I am looking for some tutorial help.
thanks
By the time I finish uploading you might already be offline so :
Get the signing tool and place the browser from mightymax into king's rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473580

paste the logcat at androidoverdrive.com
the mods there are java devs so they can help you out with it
I'm using TheOfficial AOSP 1.6 rom , and was wondering if anyone can give me an update.zip for the Eclair browser.
The one with MultiTouch and user profiles like (iPhone , Desktop , Internet Explorer 6 , Android , etc.)
Thank You.
how about ripping it from cyanogen's latest donut rom and installing it yourself?

i pulled the browser from cyanogens latest donut rom , pushed it to my phone , but it won't install...
i would appericate if someone know's of an update.zip and can share it with me , or perhaps make me one. thanks for your time.
i really hope you get that working im thinking of going bact to donut or cupcake but will miss a few things
Your only chance of getting this to work is ripping it from various Donut ROMs that include an Eclair browser and pushing it to /system/app or just intalling it. If it doesn't install, it won't work. I don't think offical AOSP even supports multi-touch.
I thought multi touch was enabled in the kernel, not the app. I could have sworn I read that somewhere.
I have a sony ericsson x8 and I can not download certain applications from the market. I was told it is because of the old version of android 2.1 I have.
Should I upgrade it to version 2.2? If yes, how can I do that?
Are there any disadvantages on doing that?
Thanks.
Some apps need armv7 to run, we can't change that but if you want to upgrade, read the stickies.

There are no disadvantages (well, if you like the X8´s Timescape, you´ll think that the fact, that it doesn´t work on Froyo is a disadvantage, but you can run Arc Timescape on it.), everthing is working with Froyo.
It´s smooth, you can take 3MP photos and VGA videos with it, you can play games with it, zoom with two fingers in the browser.....some people also say that the battery life is better with Froyo than with SE´s Eclair....just read nthe guides to install it, and then read the descriptions of the ROMs, and you´ll know everthinjhg you have to know before you can flash it.
Since I've been on custom software, I've never looked back, go for it Dude!

ow boi, smells good....
First of all thank you guys for the replies.
codfreak, I don't understand the meaning of your reply because I'm a new in this issue.
What is Froyo? Is my 2.1 version (or 2.2) also called like this?
If not, should I upgrade my X8 to Froyo and not to 2.2? and if I want to upgrade to 2.2 (or higher) anyway, can I do that?

Android versions get names by candys alphabettically:
Android 1.5 - Cupcake
Android 1.6 - Donut
Android 2.1 - Eclair
Android 2.2 - Froyo
Android 2.3 - Gingerbread
and so on...
Which means that Froyo is codename of Android 2.2. Also I would recomend you to try GingerDX by Doixanh which is really fast and fully workable Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) ROM.

For Gingerbread, do I need to install Gingerbread + GingerDX or only one of them?
not to cast any disrespect to the authors of those customed ROM but honestly has anyone seriously gone in and check through their codes? Right there could very well be the sneakest trojan you will ever find behind your next banking transaction.
