to make sure its on your sd card do you have astro, or any file manager that you can see your folders that are on the root of your sd card? if you do see if you see all the music in that folder, just a thought
Yes I see it through astro and I can select play the song in astro but no information on song comes up..I search using stock music player. Mixzing, rockon ect and none of them can find my music even if I direct it directly to the music folder..I tried flashing 5 different roms and its all the same...music doesn't show up

hey all, I've put off posting a thread for as long as I can. I have Cyanogen 5.0.5 on my N1, and when I go to the music app, none of my music shows up. I can find my music on the SD card if I use a file search app, like Root Explorer, but the music player won't or can't find the files. I did a restore to stock Android, and the music player library had all my music in it, then I went back to Cyanogen and the music disappeared from the library, so it must be something with Cyanogen. But I feel like I must be doing something wrong, or missing something entirely, because I couldn't find anyone with this problem.
I also downloaded some third-party music players from the market, and none of them would load my library either. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix? I love everything about Cyanogen, but if I can't resolve this I'll have to go back to stock 2.1. Not having a working music player is just not worth it to me.
try going into the dev tools and using the sd card scanner, see if that refreshes the music app. i actually was having the same problem on changes i did to a wallpaper directory, the gallery wasn't showing the renamed folder or new pics and when i ran the sd card scanner option under the dev tools, it updated in gallery
I tried that, but it didn't work.
What does Nexus One Android Development mean to you?
I'm on stock but it happened to me the first time I put some music on the sd card. I navigated to the music via astro file manager and played a song from there. After that all my music was magically seen from the music player.
Dunno if that will help.
Hey guys. Ive tried reflashing quite a few times now, and for some reason no matter what rom i try my phone is no longer scanning the media on my phone. i have music on my phone in the form of mp3's that will play when i use astro to browse to them, ut do not show up in any media player including the stock android one. an thoughts? as to whats going on?
things ive tried,
New sd card
Reflashing and wiping
Cyanogen clockwork recovery and amon ra
going back to a nandroid where it did work ( it no longer does)
deleting all my music and putting new music in
reformatting the sd card.
any other ideas? or if anyone knows a fix, please help!
Do you dump all of your mp3s in 1 folder? I've found that if I do this, the music player will scan some but not all album art. I know you're not getting them detected at all, but try adding music in subfolders so maybe when it scans 1 folder with hundreds of mp3s it doesn't get overwhelmed. If you're adding a lot of music at a time, try adding just afew mp3s and see if that works.
Thanks for the reply. just tried it and its still a no go :/
You sure you don't have a .nomedia file in the same folder as the music or your music folder doesnt start with a .? (like .music will not be scanned)
nope nothing with a dot or a nomedia file.. i found out if use force scan with meridian media player it finds my music, but its only temporary. as when i exit. it loses everything again :/
edit: i just tried a non sdhc card. the original 2gb card and it works.
however i want to use my 8gb card :/
any idea why the media scanner is not working on my sdhc card?
is it because its a class 2?
I just loaded an album via usb and for some reason only a few songs are showing up on the music player(stock and mixzing). I am running cyanogenmod 6 rc1, I have a 4 gig sd card with about 1 gig free and about 200 mp3's. If I use Astro to look for the files, they show up and can be played but still wont show up on the music player. Anyone know a solution to this problem? I have tried rebooting the phone and unmounted the sd card.

Are they all under one folder? A music folder?
You might have to set a default music folder depending on what player your using.
They are all in a Music folder, I have some full albums in subfolders, but some songs show up and others don't, even if they are not in a subfolder. It seems like its only this latest music loaded that is having this problem.
I downloaded an mp3 tag editor(TagScanner). The only difference I have found between the mp3's that don't show up is where is the Tag Bar. Mp3's that have ID3v1.0 don't show up, seems like all other ones are good.
I had this problem a while back and it was pissing me off as I couldn't work it out. It turned out that I had a space character at the end of some directory names for some reason which threw the scanner off. (Maybe it was a space at the end of the ID3 tag descriptions? One or the other).
Good luck, I know how annoying it is!
I have a completely stock HTC One 801S and I have been trying to copy my music into it. I copied MP3's into the 'Music' folder and it shows when I check with Windows explorer, it also shows up when I use File Manager from the Play Store but the Media player in the phone (the one with the little Headset Icon does not see anything new. The preloaded music shows up and plays but not what I added.
If I use the File Manager from the Play Store and select the music, it plays fine. I also installed Android Music but the same problem, anything I copy into the phone does not show up in any music player in the phone. Restart the phone many times but no luck.
Does anybody have solutions or ideas how to solve this?
Thanks,
JB
Quick update: if I send the files over Bluetooth they show up in the Bluetooth folder in the music player and they play OK in the stock music player. This is a work around because I cannot organize them in folders.
Anybody can help me?
thanks,
JB
