Calorie Counter by FatSecret... missing? - G1 Apps and Games

So I'm looking through the market for this app, it's in the free section, and all of a sudden I can't find it anywhere. Neither can my wife on her G1, who is the one who actually uses it (I'm not disciplined enough), and she would really really like to be able to have it on her phone again. She just recently upgraded her phone to 1.6, I've had 1.6 for a while, could that be the problem?
Anyhoo, if someone could shoot me a link or a pm about this, we/she would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks.

It shows up just fine for me! what rom are you using?

pm me with your email I can send you the .apk

I've tried finding it on WG-Y2.6, My wife is on Official Donut, Now I'm on OpenEclair and still can't find it

Which version of the apk to you have? im running an older one and obviously cannot update.. any ideas on where to get the current apk?
thanks!

Fat Secret Nexus One Froyo
I can't get Calorie Counter by Fatsecret.com on my nexus one running Froyo - it's just not listed in the market for me. it does still show up in the online marketplace and i have a 2.1 rom where it still works.. this could be a deal breaker for froyo or fatsecret

how to get older version of market apps?

Today i downloaded the newest version of Babbler for Android. i use Babble as my main facebook app because the official one is still lacking a bit. i do infact use the widget that comes with the official app though because its very nice. the newest version of babbler is pretty lame and a lot of the functions dont work as well as they did on the last version. is there anyway to revert back? i looked at the developers website but i couldnt find anything useful there. any help would be great!
More than likely if you weren't able to make a back up of the older version your out of luck. IMO the best thing to do is let the developer of the app know what problems you're having with it. Most of the android app devs are pretty quick to respond to issues with their apps. If it affects you it probably affects others.
Make a comment in the market or even better if available send them an email with as many details as possible.
go to the website cyanogen provided for the adp 1.6 image and download the 1.5 image
im not trying to go from donut back to cupcake. i am using a hero rom so im on cupcake by default. i want to downgrade to an older version of an application (babbler).

USAA [email protected] .apk outside the US?

How do I download and use the "[email protected]" app from USAA bank from outside the US? It's free but I need to get a legitimate copy of it for obvious reasons. I emailed USAA and did the obvious Google searches before posting this, but I am getting nowhere. I am making the assumption that they are limiting it to the US market (I'm in the UK). I am running a compatible version of Android, so I should see it, but I don't. Here are my basic questions:
1) If I got the .apk somehow and installed it here in the UK, would it work from here?
2) Would using a wifi connection with it be different than a mobile network?
3) If #2 is yes, could I configure my router to use a US proxy?
I really like the idea of taking a picture of a check with my G1, and depositing it that way. If anyone has figured this out please let me know how it works. Thanks.

These are assumptions, not answers:
Most likely it would work from UK in any form you try to use (WiFi/network). I would assume since USAA will have clients outside of the US for obvious reasons there would probably be no check that you're on a US carrier.
If you're having trouble getting the apk, I could download it from the market and send it to you. Send me a PM and I can email it to you.
Here it is. Hope it works from abroad!
Sweeet!
Thanks, r4d14n7. I appreciate the help. I just tried it over wifi and it worked no problem. Haven't tried it over 3G but I bet that works too. I was using the regular [email protected] before, but this is even better.
** Mods if you can change the title of the post to "[email protected] .apk outside the US?" it would help others searching for this same issue. I'm a noob and I wasn't able to type it out correctly...thanks.

What phone and version are you using, because I DL'd and tried to install, but it keeps giving me "aaplication not installed".
I'm using Sprint HERO, but version 2.1, so I should be good to go, thanks.
forty01 I'm using the latest stable Cyanogen build (4.2.15.1) on a HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1. I downloaded the .apk to my desktop, then transferred it to the memory card on the phone over USB, and disconnected the cable. Then I just navigated to the .apk file in Astro file manager and opened it (touch the .apk file in Astro and then touch "open app manager"). I've got the phone's SD card partitioned with the apps running off that (apps to SD). You probably did the same thing but I'm covering all the basics here to avoid any confusion. Hope you get it working. If I left anything out here just ask for help again.
Yess i have the htc eris and can not find the mobile banking app for regions can any one help??
That was downloaded from the market just before I posted it (10Mar2010). I'm running a G1, but I'm not sure that makes any difference. I'm a little noobish when it comes to apks
I overlooked something obvious here but I'm learning. I just tried the "Market Enabler" and now I see the USAA app from overseas. That's got to be the simplest way to grab it, and keep it updated.
Can I get this to work on Cupcake? I'm running the Aloysius ROM on a CDMA Hero. The software version says 1.56.651.2, and the .apk above won't install.

Not on Cupcake (Android 1.5), it runs on Donut (Android 1.6) or higher.
From the USAA website... "The Android app is free and available now for devices running the Android operating system version 1.6 or later."
You will have to upgrade to a newer version of Android before installing. When you do, grab the USAA app directly from the market. Use the Market Enabler (search for it) to get the app if you are outside the USA. Good luck.
Reviving this thread. I have a GSM Hero (U.K, unlocked, not Orange) running Android 2.1 and still cant find this USAA app in the market. Anyone know why?
** Update August 2011, I removed the attachment, it's a year old. The only correct way to do this from outside the US is to root, use Market Enabler, and get it in the Marketplace.
Here's the newest version of the app, attached below. (Removed)
First thing you need is a file browser to navigate to the .apk, once it's on your phone's memory card. Find a file browser in the market if you don't have one yet. You will have to enable installing third-party sources, your phone will prompt you if you haven't already. The problem with this method is that you can't update the app, and you have to trust my attachment as being safe.
A better way is to root your phone, and install Market Enabler (Google it). Requires root access, but it works perfectly. You can use it over wifi, 3G, whatever. You can use it to browse a lot of different markets. Plus, you can download the USAA app directly from the market, and update it that way, too.
Post a reply or PM me if that doesn't work out for you. Also, email USAA and ask them to make it available outside the US. I did, and they aren't ready to do it yet. Silly, considering who their members are. Just my opinion.

I agree with everything you said. Did you actually talk to USAA about that? Yeah, I went looking for Market Enabler etc, but you need root (as you said). I can't find a reasonable guide for rooting a stock 2.1 GSM Europen Hero (unbranded/unlocked). Is there one?

Yep, I emailed and then mentioned it to the phone rep when I called about something unrelated.

This looks promising. [theunlockr.com] Third line for "unbranded European users"
One thing I didn't think to mention yet is to try something like App Brain. I haven't used it yet but it's pretty popular on this and other android forums. I think you can set up an account on the website, load their app on your rooted or un-rooted phone, and load apps that way. Worth a try.

Thanks so much r4d14n7. I was having problems getting the app from the market as well. I live in Belgium.
But now that I got the app up and working, I tried to use [email protected] and it is telling me it cannot find my location. I have GPS and wifi on and both the maps application and my web browser on my vibrant are working. Any suggestions?
tpmaxwell2 I've never seen it try to get my location. I don't think it needs it. USAA is just limiting the download availability to the US. Once you get the .apk, anyone can use it. I'm using it no problem from the UK and it never switches on my GPS, nor is there any delay launching the app. It just comes right up. I posted an updated version in post #14, scroll up a little to see it. I've got that version running on both my rooted G1 and a stock, unrooted Desire from here in Europe. If you try it and still get location errors or other problems, post here again so we can figure out the problem.

On the version I just downloaded I cant even get into [email protected] without getting this error: "your location is required to use [email protected] please enable location services on your device and retry."
So I enabled wifi location and the app worked! Thanks so much!!
FYI...
I ran across this thread after trading in my iPhone 3gs for a HTC Desire HD. I went into the market to download the USAA app, and it couldn't be found. As suggested above, I installed market enabled, set as a t-mobile phone, then searched again. The USAA app showed up in the search, I installed it, and it works fine. BTW, I'm in the UK as well. Hope this helps for anyone else having the same problem.

alternative skype for 2.1?

is there any alternative android application working for 2.1 eclair? like nimbuzz? tango? that has working voice call over wifi, but still in skype account?.haaaaay, I'm sick of waiting for froyo 2.2 to work the skype. im not confident to try flashing roms yet bcoz I don't have money income yet to replace this phone If anything bad happened like bricking it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I am not sure of one that uses your skype account info. but i know you could download Yahoo Messenger and there is a plugin to download and allow you to use voice.. just not video.. i had that when I was on 2.1 and couldnt use skype myself..
Flashing is more mental imho.. i had my phone for just 2-3weeks and i too was scared. .but i went ahead and did it.. read the "how too's" and in the one from the development page there is a 3part video that shows you the complete steps of what to do.. watch that video (maybe 2-3times to be sure) and follow the video along with instructions from the sticky and you will be fine.. it was a lot easier than i thought and I was ok.. I know you will be ok with either the new Cognition 3.04 or the new Andromeda 2.0.. i used Cog first and flashed right over that to Andromeda 2.0 with no issues so far.. Andromeda is a lot faster and seems to be better on my battery as well..
Anyway.. hope that helps some..

market.android.com - WOW!!!

just found this. I logged into my market account from my desktop, selected an app and its downloading to my device directly.
Android strikes again!
edit: Also has full list of all my previous downloaded Apks...
No dice here....my device does not show up on the android web market.
Yeah, that's a really nice feature. I found both my phone AND my nook color. Naturally the nook color shows up as a Zoom2 but I guess the push feature may be limited to 2.2 and newer. So it may require at least Nookie Froyo for that. Or are you using rooted stock FW?

Anybody get their Honeycomb NookColor to work with this?

Push doesn't work for me on my DInc. I don't have my Nookie right now so I can't test it. I'm told that you have to open the Market app on your phone in order for the site to see your phone and push apps to it. Doesn't work with the custom rom I'm running though.

I am not sure it works, but my "Zoom2" does list as a valid device..
This must be something new. I see everything i downloaded since the end of December, on both my incredible and the nook... but nothing prior. ill test the push.
when i went to push i saw 2 devices something identified simply as "phone" and "Verizon HTC adr6300" not sure what phone is. possibly one of the froyo builds i ran?
i pushed the chase app to my incredible. by the time i finished editing this post. it was installed... pretty neat. i guess no nookie love right now. still a really cool find.
Edit again... lol interesting thing is whatever "phone" is it shows no make no model. and says the last time i used it was today.. which must be the nook.
I was able to download apps to both my NC and my Samsung Epic from the website. Curiously, they both showed up as "phone" so I wasn't able to tell them apart. Is there any way to register the name of the device on the website?

Click "Market Account" at the top, then settings. Your devices show up and you can edit them, including Naming them.
Edit: too slow
Very nice. Sometime it's easier to look for things on my computer than with the phone.
I checked it out. I still prefer AppBrain.
My NC shows up but only for the Honeycomb.
The rooted 2.1 that I use as my daily driver is not there. I'm guessing that it needs 2.2 or better.

Actually, I am on 1.01 rooted (haven't updated to 1.1 yet) and it is able to see mine. I haven't really done anything special outside of rooting. I don't have CWR or any custom kernels yet - not sure if that makes a difference. Haven't even had a chance to play with Froyo yet.
My 1.1.0 rooted is there, and a test push worked fine (although, when you get the OTA is crapshoot I would think).
Hmmm. this whole thing seems to be a crapshoot.
My nookie froyo showed up, but when I tried to send something it said unsupported device.
Same thing for my fuze (winmo) running xdandroid 2.2.1. showed up, but unsupported so the whole thing is useless to me.
I wish it worked because there are so many things that don't show up in market on nookie froyo.
Oh well. Let the waiting continue for CM7!!
Works fine here. Nook Color, Mac Mini, USB cable connected in USB mode.
Nook Color and iTouch connected at the same time.
The box shows.
Phone

So I chose the top one and it works no problem.
I seem to like looking through the Market on my Mac better.

[Q] Liberty ROM; no voicemail? WTF cookies?

Hi there, I searched the forum for this and couldn't seem to find anything on it, and this had like 20 views and not one reply in the general Q&A section, so here goes;
I have a Droid Bionic on Verizon. I used Pete's one click root app and it worked great. I then loaded the Liberty rom as it was touted to have the best battery life. I love everything about the rom EXCEPT that there seems to be no visual voice mail with it. I don't want/need some fancy overly complicated vvm app like all the ones I found in the marketplace, so I was just wondering how/if I can get this resolved.
I tried downloading the Verizon VVM APK (I just Google searched for it) but then when I opened it, it popped up a message saying that my phone already had VVM on it and to use that one. I'm stuck.
I also just received a new update to my phone OTA, called 5.5.886.XT875. I'm on Android Version 2.3.4, if any of that matters.
This weekend I tried loading the UNLEASHED rom and the BLURRED rom this weekend, but one didn't have a camera app (BLURRED) and the UNLEASHED (which I'm using atm) is just slow and glitchy and I don't like it. I really wanna go back to Liberty but must have vvm for my line of work.
So, does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a way to contact a rom developer directly that I'm missing somewhere or something like that? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
Try http://rootzwiki.com/forum/81-droid-bionic/
I think the dev spends more time over there.
