I installed the ICE theme using metamorph and after going back to default theme using droid root helper a lot of things are still blue. Can anyone point me in the direction of a metamorph zip that can get things back to normal? I just want the default icons and dialer back...
Btw I'm running 2.0.1 on a motorola droid
I don't know how the droid works, but just flash the original rom file and it will get everything back to default. Or just open up the rom and replace the apk's with the originals.

I flashed the original ROM before it didn't work, thanks for the idea tho.
I'm really just lookin for someone that has made a metamorph file of the defaults from what I've read that's the only way to get back to it.
it happened to me too.. i've tried to reflash the rom (cyanogenmod) and icons werent changed.. so i reflashed android 1.6 and cyanogenmod and icons came back to normal XD

Well yea... because cyan doesn't package the google apps...
so am i just SOL?
Without more information yes. What rom, if they are google apps see above, if they are menu parts, most of them are in the framework files, so they just need to be pushed and reboot to see changes.
See the value of a nandroid backup... Worst case, backup your apps and settings then start over.

I did a nandroid backup, but when i made a new one to save my new data and apps it saved the new theme as well. Its things like the color of the text box in messaging and things of that nature that I would like to change back as I found a theme that works for me and I like these icons. I'm new to the android world as I used a blackberry for a long time. So what do you mean by push and reboot?
also how would I go about backing up just my apps and settings?

Will the latest beta install on our SGS, or is Swype only updatable why rom updates?
the latest swype beta looks much better than what we have on ur SGS....anyway to update to that?
I would like it too

I hope so. My Swype is rubbish since upgrading to FroYo. It never seems to find the correct word even tho im ultra careful when swyping! Never had so many problems when I was on Eclair version...
Ok, I managed to get rid of the built in Swype and replaced with the latest Swype beta.
Currently it's version Swype v2.10.52.13753 iirc. You should be able to find it with Google.
Also, u need Titanium Backup or SystemApp Remover, or whatever app you know can uninstall system apps. A filemanager that can delete system files is also needed, like Root Explorer.
I'm using Titanium Backup (the free version should be work fine).
1) First change to another keyboard to be safe.
2) Press the Backup/Restore tab at the top, scroll to Swype. Click on it.
3) To be safe, make a backup of Swype. Then Wipe Data and Delete it. It should be dimmed and marked out after deletion.
4) Using Root Explorer, delete \system\lib\libSwypeCore.so. To be safe, make a copy of it to ur sdcard in case anything goes south.
5) Reboot.
6) Now you should be able to install the latest Swype beta without any problems, you will need to enable it in settings after that to use it.
Did not experience any force closes or quirks so far....hope it works for u guys too. In case of any problems, going backwards to restore libSwypeCore.so and Swype via Titanium Backup shouldn't be too hard.

I found that and 'fixed' it by going to 'Settings > Locale and Text > Swype'
Then when in Swype options, open the speed vs accuracy option and slide the bar all the way to the right to the 'Error Tolerance' side of the slider...this made a significant difference for me.

Your method worked perfectly for me! Thanks a lot! Im using it on a i9003 btw...
Seems good to use, like the voice input on this though! Comes in so handy, the pre-installed one didn't have this feature... So far so good, Only I prefered the darker color of the original one, Can this be themed?
another way good for noobs like me....
I managed to get the most current release version working in a more elementary fashion:
1. Uninstall swype as described in previous posts
2. Go to beta.swype.com
3. Register for the download
4. Follow the install guide beta.swype.com/android/welcome/detailed/
Note: make sure you have the standard android internet browser set as your default before following the email link, if it isn't, the download won't work and you will have to delete/uninstall all swype related files again. To set the browser default, go to settings/applications/manage apps/ then scroll to your current browser (for me skyfire), click on it and then select 'clear default'
And after completing all the prompts in the install guide, all should be good! Latest version 3.6.84.26668.t100.26701 just installed and working great for me. Hope this helps, and enjoy not having that freakin irritational "hidden word" tip ever again!
I haven't installed a theme yet on my fresh install of CM6.1 rc1, but I want to... just want to know how to remove it before I do so. I searched and found a lot of info but nothing seemed to be directly what I'm asking.

Settings -> ADWLauncher -> Theme Preferences.
If you install one you don't like just reinstall the default one. I downloaded a bunch of free ones from the Android Market and tried them. Once I determined that I didn't like them, I uninstalled the download theme and then it doesn't show up under the Theme Preferences.
Regards,
Tom
So does that mean I should be installing themes through ADW instead of flashing them from Clockwork?

I have only dealt with themes for ADW. If you have some themes that are flashable via ClockworkMod, then I do not have any experience with those. In that case 'nandroid' backups will be your best friend. Make a 'nandroid' backup and then flash a new theme. If you don't like it, then restore your nandroid backup and start again.
I created a theme at the Ultimate Online Theme Kitchen so I could get the super circle battery... I have to install it from Recovery according to this page: http://circle.glx.nl/how_to/
Is there another way that I'm missing?
Create a nandroid backup of your current setup before flashing a theme. If you end up not liking a theme then just restore from nandroid to get back.
I finally answered my own question. If I had just read that page I linked to above a little better, I would have seen where they suggest backing up your existing framework-res.apk before flashing the new one. So I did that. Hopefully won't be difficult to put back if I choose to.
Now I just need to find a good ADW theme... preferrably free since I'm broke at the moment. =)
I know there will be someone saying that this is already posted but I have not seen as with multiple searches and extensive readings.
Can all the Apps from the SCH-I500 be posted somewhere and I mean the APK's or zipped versions on this site? With all the flashing there are a few from the original that are very good, then they are lost. Or an area to teach us how to abstract them from the ROM's we found them on or the originals. Or link's to where they can be found?
Like Desk Cradle etc. I have flashed many of the ROMs like the Froyo (Kaos), Super Clean, DJ05, DL09 the new Red recovery kernel etc. but always there was something good from the original that I can not find or wished I had back.
Also, is there a moderator on the site that can get the non Fascinate stuff out of here or move? Like Eris, Telus, I9000 we are confused enough without keeping it pure - Samsung Fascinate SCH-I500.
Thaks for any help or suggestions,

You can back your apps up with titanium back up or astro file manager

Skillz360 Thank you for your reply.
But Lucy please Esplain!
I have used Titanium and backed up some but as usual the wrong ones the VZW crap.
Do I just backup all that I like or would be interesed in? Then when I reload Titanium on the new ROM the apps will be there for reinstall? Also in Astro all I see are the APK's I downloaded from Market or not the OEM's. And I am rooted.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.

use Titanium to backup what ever apps you want and you can just use it to restore the app or apps that you want on a new rom ect.. yes when you reinstall Titanium on a new rom you can just load your app or app that you want
If you go into Rom Manager, under sonofskywalker3's section, most of the stock apps can be reinstalled from there.
Thanks
I have seen under ROM Manager but they do not have many and does anyone know where they go when you use ROM Manager or are they only temporary?
norm883
Actually as well as I'm aware, by default Titanium Backup does not backup system apks, it only makes a backup of system app data. I use Root Explorer, go into the /system/app/ folder and manually select and copy over desired apks onto the sdcard.
Look for stock deodexed ROMs, you can unzip them and get your desired apks onto your sdcard, and use Root Explorer to copy them into your /system/app/ folder.
If you need any of the system APKs let me know. I have most of them available in deodexed form.... I believe from the DJ05 leak. But should work on whatever. Just let me know which ones you need and I can send you a link for them.

So I've installed Android Revolution HD 3.2 GE and I see where the messaging app doesn't have popups and such like the CM Mms.apk does. I deleted the Mms.apk from system and replaced with the CM one and after reboot it replaces it back with the factory apk. Last night I was able to get it to stick (had to factory reset for another reason) and I'm doing the same thing now so I'm not sure what the issue is.
While getting ready to post this, I was attempting again and this time after reboot the Mms.apk is in the system folder (not sure which one) but the app is missing from the app drawer. So I just factory reset.
I'm pretty bent on getting this popup version to work. I downloaded an app called Popup which was nice, but it was consuming way too much battery.
Thank you for any help.

I'm assuming the ROM has r/w protection disabled (Where anything done is reverted)? If so, have you deleted the MMS.apk from system/app, put the CM mms.apk in system/app, set the correct permissions at rw-r--r-- and rebooted?

I remember once before it prompted me to change to rw-r-r-- and it hasn't been doing that now. I set it myself just now after copying the apk and it still replaced it after reboot.
Edit: to clarify, yes I did as you specify. Not sure if it matters, but in the rom tweaks during install there is an option for "Improe EXT4 Performance: Enable data_writeback for all paritions". Would this being checked/unchecked make a difference?
Edit 2: I installed with and without it checked and it didn't make a difference.

lulz I'm about to flash a different rom. The app you showed me doesn't keep the changes. It reboots and everything is switched back to off and no changes are kept. I blame the rom/system, not the app itself because others in the thread all seem to be fine.
Edit: I think i'm editing every post.... I tried doing the AOSP Browser install with the app, and even that didn't stick. Said "android is upgrading" upon restart but nope...
Installed Insert Coin and it works now. Thanks for the assistance!
