HTCVolume GUI- Doesn't work after reinstating a backup

Hi ...
After a hard reset, my diamond (flashed to the latest UK rom) has the usual HTC Volume appplication working fine.
Unforutunately, after I restore my backup, it reverts to the horrid looking WM6 Volume tool.
Obviously, something in the backup is replacing either Registry or Files (or both), but I can't find what.
It would be great if I could just reinstall the latest HTCVolume cab file and get this feature back (As I hate the appearance of the WM6 one).
I see the latest SWIFTBL ROM has :-
o HTC Volume Control 1.0.18171229.0 (NEW)
Where can I find this as a CAB file and just reinstall it ???
I've tried to extract it from the SwiftBL rom but without success.
I'm a little new to all this ... can anyone help ?

There's the Volume Control from Raphael too. What's the difference?

I've installed the volume control from Raphael - don't know what the difference is, but it works just fine. Didn't try the other one.

Soft keyboard issue?

I have kaiser with sakajatis 4feb rom on, and it just to have a diamond onscreen keyboard cooked in, but i somehow manage to deleted it from the device. Beacuse it was very helpful app i have dl the cab file of it and i installed it but now it is not working, although i can see it in the input method, and i can choose it, it always apears the defaullt keyboard...
I have tried with SIPChanger but it does not work...
What to do next...???

just reflash whatever rom you're using and you should have it back

you probably installed it in a wrong way. make sure you soft reset your phone after you installed the actual onscreen keyboard, then install the language pack. also, you should not have any other third-party onscreen keyboards installed in your phone (like pcm, fingerkb, spb keyboard etc..)
btw, i'm also using the same rom that you're using

trinity freezes? HELP!

yesterday i installed the rom of one of the above threads (win 6.5.28052) but everytime i boot up my device (when it is installed) it crashes.. constantly the same screen and i cant do anything?
i wanted to flash it to another win 6.5 rom. but i cant even turn on active sync on my phone
can anyone help me?
and fast. because i cant call and sms..

If I`m right it should connect again after You have a new SPL onboard. Relatively new here myself...
Another method would be to flash directly from an old SD card (not a new micro with adapter).
Edit : Maybe I misunderstood "turn on active sync on my phone" : Are You trying to flash when in bootloader mode (tricolor screen) ?

i was not flashing my phone in tricolor screen. but i did saw that screen when i installed the new rom?
but how do i come in the bootloader?
EDIT: can u please explain me in steps how i have to do this? (i am not so smart in those things..)

another EDIT: i came a little bit further. no i see the commanager screen and disabled everything, then i tryed to turn on active sync. but then it freezes I WANT TO USE MY PHONE AGAIN!

Where did you find 28052 for trinity?.
Bootloader mode push on+camera botton+soft reset.

it was an older version.. typed it wrong. it was 28014..
but do u have a clue how i can fix this?
EDIT: now if i unlock my device. i get the windows screen when it boots up and does nothing.. so i cant do even less..

--Release the Reset Button, but continue to hold the Power/Camera buttons until you see the Tri Color Screen
--Plug in the USB cable (if asked about installing a driver, do this), You should see USB in the White Box)
Now you can Flash.

that tricolor screen says:
TRIN100

so the spl version is good?

What a good ROM is depends on Your liking. If You want a clean 6.5 base to install stuff Yourself and have lots of free RAM for bigger apps, check the second post of

The one my phone came with was also from xda-devs but couldn`t run iGO (nav software) because there was too little free RAM, too much preinstalled stuff running like Manila eyecandy...
So if You want a ROM with fancy today screens and other preinstalled stuff You`ll have to take a look around here, otherwise check the one above, many ppl recommend it.

i dont like the standard skins of windows mobile 6.5 but i like the start menu and the file explorer thing,
and i used SPB Mobile before and i like that!
but what is the lightest version of windows mobile 6.5 here on xda? without that fancy touchflo etc, only the good start menu in the top and a good file explorer were u can scroll with u finger?

How to reset/change function of the "Home" hard key?

I know I should reflash the phone. But this happened to me with a few ROMs.
After some usage of the phone "Home" hard key was taking me not to the Home screen but to last Manila tab I was using.
For instance I press a Globe tab (Internet) -> Launch Opera browser -> Pres Home hard key -> ... And I'm back in Internet tab and not home screen.
The same behavior with the rest of the tabs.
Any ideas how to reset the function of Home hard key? Are there any registry entries which are responsible for that? I think it should be fixable.

Anyway - this didn't help for me I'm using Topix ROM. Maybe the solution worked with earlier Manila versions (Not Sense 2.1).
Any suggestions?

i just read youre story about the home button
im a new chef and whas wondering if i had the same thign whit my own rom
although im on sense 2.5 i have the smae thing:-o
i whas checking the repository of phone stuff i have and i found a fix for mine
i dont know if it will work whit manila 2.1 but you can definetly try
im not sure how it will react whit manilla 2.1 but on my rom sometimes it opens homescreen immidiatly and sometimes it takes about a sec like the phone has to think what its supposed to do
but hack just try it and see what happens
extract the file in windows folder whit totalcommander and overwrite the excisting one

Yesterday I did some reflashes and now the problem is solved. So I wait until next time my Home button fails and will try your fix.

open the file whit total commander and extract it whit total comander to youre windows folder
maybe resco explorer could also work but not sure about that one as inever used resco explorer

Hi,
Seems that I found what was causing Home button to not function properly.
I uninstalled S2U2 (slide to unlock) and now my home button works properly.
No idea how this is connected. But the fact is that home button started to work after S2U2 uninstallation.
Would be very sad if it's really so that this bug is connected to S2U2. Coz I don't know what should I use instead of S2U2.

Help needed reverting back to WM6.1

Hi, if anyone could please help me i would be gratefull, i recently purchased a D2 but its already preloaded with WM6.5 rom version 2.53.405.5 (76952)WWE, But i really wanted WM6.1 as, among other things, i wanted to use the handwriting rec.
does anyone know what stock rom to reload? and where i can get it? sorry to ask such a basic question.

and a soft reset, and another hard reset to be sure,
i searched the forum but couldn't find any reference to that type of error either.
any ideas on how to retrieve it from paperweight mode?

Download stock ROM for your region
Unpack it with WinRar or TotalCMD
Rename RUU_signed.nbh to topaimg.nbh
Copy topaimg.nbh on your SD card
Enter bootloader (hold volume down and turn on phone) and follow instructions
edit:I guess for wm 6.1 you need lower version of SSPL

my phone is no longer a brick however i am back to square 1 in that i still have wm6.5, and i want 6.1
ive tried to reflash with the older rom fighter7139 suggested

but it gives me the same rebooting error.
any ideas why wont the older rom work on my phone? or if theres an alternative to that rom ?

I've loaded hardspl 1.83 and extracted the file RUU_signed.nbh and renamed it to topaimg.nbhand,
i moved it to the SD card, reflashed the phone with the 6.1 rom,
but i get the same error.
any idea on what rom i should use to update from?
or what stock spl i'd need to run this rom's version of 6.1 ?

maybe i don't even need 6.1, all i want to do is to fix two things -
1) make the sms messaging work like on the old htc devices ie diamond or tytn ie not use htc messaging
2) add handwriting recognition
- would also be nice to have the taskmanger icon, the battery icon and the original windows start menu back too, but im not dependent on them....
so i guess any rom would do that allows these functions, any help or info on this would be much appriciated

thanks for that, however that was the first thing i tried, i saw the download for the handwriting ap just after i got the phone, not knowing it didnt have it when i swapped from my diamond,
the thing is the update only works on certian AP version control builds -
the message on the site is -
Note: AP version control -> The criterion will pass if the Touch Input for Pocket is equal to Version 2.1 (Build1919.1320), or lower.
mines a higer version, which i assumed originally had to do with it being wm6.5 not 6.1,
- i have tried downloading and installing anyway but it wont load.
does anyone know how to get this update to load, or how to change the AP version control back to a lower version ?????

The handwriting SIP is likey hidden.
There is a reg edit to unhide, just search SIP Reg Edit and you should find it.
If I recall it was under the WM general tweaks.

thanks for that, i got the letter and block rec working, but still not the transcriber the reg key shows it should be showing, but i think the actual file may not be there,

Any luck finding a way to get 6.1 working on this phone? I just bought the Pure from AT&T as a replacement for my LG Incite that had 6.1 on it. So far I can't stand 6.5 at all. My main beef is with IE, I really like the one on my Incite vs. this one. And my other problem is with the start menu, I also prefer the drop-down style in 6.1.

Start here.
Once you unlock your phone, you can flash to anything you want.
6.5 is hands down better than 6.1, there are 6.5.219xx builds that have the drop down start menu.
