Hello folks,
Today I flashed with the ROM in thread 'T-Mobile USA 2.17 ROM (Custom)'. After it came up, I ran through the screen align and wizard. When it was all done installing extended rom etc it restarted on its own. After booting back up, everthing was really slow and there was no cell signal. The battery icon had an ! mark on it and when clicked, it says unknown battery. At this point everything keeps freezing and genrally not working including no activesync connection possible. I restarted into the bootloader and tried to flash again. It completed, but now I just get the tmobile boot screen, and eventually it restarts again, never completing the boot. This is when I notice that it doesnt seem to have a radio rom (GSM) version listed, but rather a gap where it should be. I ended up pulling the battery out and trying to get back into the boot loader again, and now I cant get it to power on in any way.
I guess that is enough said. The only other thing to note is that everything was working fine prior to the attempted update, I was merely hoping to get a performance boost, as I was using the original rom.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
B. Ramsey
Fixed!
No other ROM would install, but in reading back through threads, I found a link to RUU_Prodigy_1081002_108_10910_TMO_US.exe. After installing this, I had my GSM rom back. Then everything worked. I think the not powering on issue had to do with the fact that it sat in the bootloader screen for several hours at one point. Since there was no standby, the battery was wasted. I am attempting to reflash it now to 2.17, we'll see.
No dice
After installing the 2.17 ROM, no more GSM, and same problems. I reflashed back to the previous and it works again..

THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! I also had a brick because of the same setup - trying to use the custom TMOBILE ROM. I had the same symptoms you did - basically non-responsive and no radio stack and no USB connection. I was not getting anywhere with any other ROM. Now, at least I have a working device.
Still no AKU2 though
Let me know if you manage to get an AKU2 ROM on your device!
That's worrisome. Do you know if the CID unlock was successful? (I think it's scripted into that custom upgrader)
If you're feeling adventurous, you could try intalling the custom 2.17 Cingular upgrader I made (it's on the FTP server). If that's successful, then the problem is with the T-MO upgrader. Based on all the folks having success with that T-MO upgrader though, I imagine the only issue might be a corrupt download. If the Cingular upgrader results in the same behavior, then the problem is either with the CID lock or some odd hardware problem.
I'm truly perplexed by the issue you're having..sure wish I knew how to help ya.
Thanks for the replies. My phone was already unlocked as it was purchased that way. I actually did get custom 2.17 tmo Rom to work, I just hadnt posted here yet. After flashing to the older rom, I flashed to the 2.16 Rom on clubimate.com. Then I had a working 2.16 with GSM. I figured what the hey and went ahead and tried the custom 2.17 Rom again. All is great, and FAST. I wish I could remember what custom Rom I was using before I think it must be the culprit. I cant remember, but it did have the extended rom free and open, total commander, and an unlocker.
Thanks

My device is a QTEK 9100. I was upgrading from the ROM on my device when I got it:
ROM 1.1.7.5 9/22/2005
Radio: 01.01.10
Protocol: 4.0.13.16
ExtROM: 1.1.7.105
My carrier is TMobile, so I figured the TMobile custom rom that was built off of the latest QTEK would be a good bet for me - but instead I ended up with no Radio.
I have the IMATE ROM you refer to - maybe I'll try to go to that as an interim step to get to the QTEK ROM I really want, since you had success with that method.
What I don't understand is why the Vanilla QTEK 2.17 (which is what I tried after the TMO Custom 2.17) gave me problems. I don't recall the exact error message, but basically it said it couldn't use that ROM on my device.

When you say it was already unlocked, don't you mean SIM unlocked? It would be unusual to buy a phone that is already CID unlocked.
I bought the unbranded k-jam from Simoncells.com. All I did was put my tmobile sim card in it and it worked. I guess I dont know the difference between SIM and CID unlocking.
Well theb that's where you went wrong, sim unlock refers to ur phone being able to use any world sim card...cid unlock refers to country Identification...if ur fone is not cid unlocked then wen u install foreign roms it will bugg up ur fone...dats wat happened to u and that other fellow pterodyne...I sim and cid unlocked my fone. ran the tmo 2.17 custom rom without a problem....plz do ur research on upgrading roms b4 u bash them...most factory fones don't come cid unlocked so I'd b surprised if urs did (tho it prolly came sim unlocked)...
Running this RUU will only update your Radio Rom. You will not lose any settings.
These are all in English.
2.x Radio Roms are for use with 2.x Bootloaders only.
They don't work with 1.x Bootloaders (IPL/SPL Versions 1.x). The good news is that since it doesn't dork your BootLoader if you goof you can still reflash with your original Rom and recover your device or use the Cingular 1.09.10 Radio Only Rom included here.
How To Use This RUU Package
1. Select the Radio Rom you want:v1.09.10 from Cingular 1.08 Rom.
v2.25.11 from the leaked Cingular 2.25 AKU 2.2 Rom. Several users have reported that this improves their reception.v2.25.11 from the leaked Test T-Mobile (US) 2.24 AKU 2.3 Rom. It is also listed as version 2.25.11 but the file is not an exact match to the Cingular Radio Rom.
v2.07 from Summiter's Cingular 2.17 AKU 2 Rom, which was made using components extracted from a device with what is believed to be the mysterious Cingular 2.23 AKU 2.2 Rom.
v2.19.11 from the T-Mobile UK 2.21.0.206 Rom Release, for our European Brothers (and Sisters).
v2.19.11 from the T-Mobile Dutch Website, for our European Brothers (and Sisters).
v2.21.4 from the Xda Minis 2.24.4.101 Rom, for our European Brothers (and Sisters).
v2.27.11 Prodigy Radio Rom. As provided by ShogunMark.
2. Download the Zip file.
3. Extract the contents into an empty folder on your PC.
4. Make sure you have established a usb connection with your device (Activesync as guest is okay)
5. Execute the RomUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe
6. Follow the prompts.
Don't worry it won't overwrite your existing Extended Rom, Storage Area or OS so the PDA side of your device will remain untouched.
Just wondering, isnt this the same radio rom thats in the new beta T-Mobile rom?

The version number is the same but there have been numerous reports of better performance with the Radio Rom from the leaked Cingular Rom.
So the answer is Yes and No apparently.
If you're not experiencing noticable issues then why bother flashing it. On the other hand it certianly won't hurt to flash it.

Before I build the "Mr. Clean" AKU 2.3 ROM I did both a binary compare of the T-Mobile 2.25.11 Radio ROM and the Cingular 2.25.11 Radio ROM.
They are *different* files and do seemingly get different reception. In testing on a WIZA100 device, the Cingular version was noticeably better. I haven't gotten around to testing on the WIZA200 yet, but I'm expecting to see the same performance.
As a result of the tests, I included the Cingular version in "Mr. Clean" and kyphur was kind enough to package it separately after people asked for just the Radio ROM.
I downloaded and used the radio update from this thread with no problems it only updated the radio and left my settings intact.
Thanks for the file I need the improved reception

Thanks for the Rom, 4 bars at my desk where I used to have 1.... T-Mo Vario
Well, I just ran the ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe and it completed the installation with my settings intact (in fact, the install only too a minute, whereas the full T-Mobile ROM took well over 5 minutes to complete).
My 8125 is running the AKU2.3 custom Cingular ROM that already had the T-Mo 02.25.11 Radio version. So, I don't have any absolute way to say that the Cingular 02.25.11 installed successfully, guess I'll have to test the signal now
Thanks for the updated Radio ROM

Works OK on KJAM 2.16.9.1 stock
Hi there,
I installed Cingular radio 2.15.11 on K-JAM running stock latest image:
2.16.19.1.
It installed OK, works OK and so far reception seems better.
Thanks for all the effort providing that,
Hal.

I know this goes against conventional thinking, but has anyone tried to flash this to a CID LOCKED device? I'm curious if it will work as it doesn't touch the OS or the bootloader. If it does work it'd be a must have upgrade for pretty much *everyone* out there.
My devices have long since been unlocked so I've got no way of testing it.

Yep it will work. It's really just the initial and secondary program loaders that are affected by the CID.
Thanks, Kyphur, for posting the Radio ROM
Installed w/o any problem, runs also very well
Cheers

cingular radio > tmobile radio
I've tried both and I noticed that the cingular is better. Why? Because with the tmobile one my push email would never sync properly on the mda. The cingular is fast and perfect. How fast you might ask? Well my mda receives the notice of new email faster than my Outlook client. But the original tmobile rom, my signal never dropped below 2 bars. The cingular drops 2 bars but that's 60% signal from the reading I get from Voice command. But I've talked for longer than 10 minutes on my phone and it's worked just fine. Kudos to Kyphur for sharing this with us.

Hey kyphur,
Well, Summiter put in the radio rom from Cingular's 2.25.11, and I tell yah, I'm still suffering from the same problems. the only choice I have left is the original 2.17 radio code, which I guess I'll have to try once I get around to seeing my home computer - been mobile for 3 days, haven't even seen my own grass... sigh ...
AKU2.3 Radio rom based on t-mo ... failed wifi on pre-n
AKU2.3 Radio w/Cingular 2.25.11 ... failed wifi on pre-n
MengesB w/no Wifi on pre-n ... pre-n failed MengesB!

Have you tried a different router? The one thought that pops to mind is that perhaps something in the firmware of the pre-n router isn't completely 802.11b compliant? After all, no 802.11n routers are final yet. It's quite possible there are still bugs on that end.

I know officially the stack on Q.11n isn't official, but the router is set to be compatiable with both G and B flavors of Q.11 sequences. What's more disturbing is that it was working with 1.8.11 WWE (stock). I know the firmware in the router is good, works with a Dell TruMobile Wifi, Moto G Wifi, Centrino internal Wifi, and Broadcom Wifi cards... so we've been around the block with Pre-n connecting on a G and B platform systems - it simply does not like my phone. I do have the G hack enabled through Sum Sum, and tried removing it - no difference.
I haven't tried other G routers, besides my SRX100 router, and even with this one its spotty at best - requies disable/enable occassionally when it 'loses touch' with the AP.
I'm wondering if 2 hours of ethereal logs might be required to find out where in the Q.11 stack stuff is messing up. Networking is my ball of wax, and it doesn't make sense to me if a device ARPs for an address, and the device REPLIES saying, "Yeah sure buddy, here you go: x.x.x.x" and the device simply IGNORES it ... kinda confuses me - like a Cisco 2600 that just came back from repair and the stupid idiot soldered a jumper cause 'it was loose'... ugh... numbskull
has anyone in california had good signal with the 2.21.4 radio rom??

Next question, are you extracting the contents of the zip file into an empty folder? might you have extracted into a folder containing an unhacked version of the updater program and by mistake running it instead of the NoID version?
I unpacked to a new folder.
I think the problem is with the rom that we already have installed that "maybe" is bloking the update ?

Thanks
First, sorry for my English; I'll do my best
I have Spanish Vodafone Diamond. I flashed using Unsigned HardSLP, NiAX Buffet 2.0, and Radio Radio 1.00.25.05. Later, I unlocked with the "free method".
If worked fine for me for some weeks, but I give to a friend who is using it now with other company (MoviStar). It worked for some hours but after that the phone couldn't get the network.
I tried first change to other Radio 1.03.25.18 (after Hard Reset), and it worked again only for only few hours. After that, no network again.
I tried also reflash again HardSLP + same ROM + Radio 1.00.25.05 but I can't get network again.
Any idea?
I had the same problem...
And a whole lot of others hihi.. Anyhow, in my case uploading Radio v1.05.25.BS14 (Quad Band)(Provided by Dutty) (NEW ONE) fixed the issue.. But I didn't get Radio 1.00.25.05 to work...
me too... i had the same problem...
I already tried 1.00.25.05, 08, and bs14, but no luck... can anyone figure out why?
Nobody have idea? ****...
could it be that the phone is barred by any chance?
I just flashed my Diamond with the: RUU_Diamond_HTC_NOR_2.03.409.1_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.51.25.26_1.09.25.23_Ship.exe
I'm an norwegian that's in the US studying, so they only gave me the norwegian version. Anyways, everything worked fine until flash, but now my phone refuses to register on the network (AT&T)!
Took the sim-card back to the at&t nokia phone, worked the first time...
I really wants to use my Diamond instead of the crappy nokia, but it would be a shame to downgrade to 1.93 (which worked just fine...).
Someone, please have a solution for me?
simply install a new radio....try 1.00.25.07 that seems to be the only quadband radio..
(you have to flash an hspl before)
It's stuck on 0% and won't continue... Tried several roms :-/
no service?????
is there a soution to this no network problem
THERE IS A CROSS IN THE RECEPTION BAR AND WHEN YOU DIAL OUT IT SAYS "OPERATION FAILED"
any replies appreciated
Quite bad if the official RUU more or less bricks the device, at least turns into just a little computer
It screwed up my Diamond aswell The gprs is completely dead, been up all night trying to fix it, several hard resets etc, nothing helps... if it was a cooked rom I could tolerate it but official roms screwing up our phones this easily pisses me off.
Mine worked again, with the old 1.93 rom!!
What the hell did they do to 2.03? I suppose the radio rom is different at least... But I couldn't change to the old radio when I had 2.03, tried using the HardSpl...
Is it possible to flash _once_ with everything from 2.03, but the 1.00.25.05 radio (which is the one from 1.93)? Doing it sequentually doesn't work.
So what I did, as the final solution:
Flash with stock 2.03 rom
HardSPL
Flash with 1.05.25 radio
Works perfect!
Hmm i did the other way round with my o2 XDA Diamond (1.93 Stock)
1. Hard SPL
2. New Radio Rom (1.09.25.23)
3. 2.03 official Ger HTC Rom (without vendor lock)
works great as well
I've seen this issue a couple of times too. With 1.93 as well as with 2.03. Did not figure out what was the cause but never had a chance to bring the device back to life with some uninstallation or radio flash. I always went back to the SPB Backup from the night before it stopped working propperly.
Hello to all,
I have big problem with my BA GSM... I have done a lot of research but I can't solve my problem...
I have upgraded my BA (SPV M2000 ORANGE UK) from win 2003 SE to Win 6.1, Win 6.5 Win 5... But in all ROM versions I don't have a possibility to make or receive call... Phone is on automatic search for network and always founds my home network, but when I'm supposed to receive a call, network is going down (just loose it). When I want to make call same thing happens. When I switch to manual searching for network I get this message: "Cannot read settings from the network. Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again"
I have tried to change radio ROM to every version you have on forum (right now I am on last 1.15), but still same problem.
When I was on the win 2003 SE, I have to use unlocker to make GSM working and that is working just fine... But when I upgrade to any other version of ROM or radio ROM, GSM doesn't function like it should...
Device information for my BA:
Operatior Version: wm 6.1 ppc Pho...
ROM version: Black Skin HT4...
ROM date: 08/08/08
Radio version: 1.15.00
Protocol version: 1337.45
ExtROM version: 1337.45
ExtROM version: Black Kernel
Model no: PH20B
Many thanks in front for any idea
Try going back to the original ROM or reflashing you current one. I had a similar problem where my sim was not inserted completly and would keep dropping in and out.
Thanks for respond I already tried to change sim card, but same thing happened... I don't know where I can found the original ROM for my SPV M2000 orange UK to try to fix my GSM... Does anybody now where I can found the original ROM for my baby ?
Here are 2 places for the original ROMs, also with original radio ROM.

Thank you for help, I restored phone to shipped ROM RUU_v2.5_OrangeUK_v5.40.1.179.ship and everything works fine... I have don't have any problems..
Is that mean that now I can't upgrade my windows to any other windows for my phone, or I should try again with some differed ROM...do you have any idea what is best ROM for my BA ?
Working Device information:
Operator version: 5.40.1.179
ROM version: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio version: 1.06.02
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.40.179 WWE
You should be able to upgrade to other ROMs, I am not to sure why you had the problem with so many different ROMs. I use xplode's R7.1 WM6.5 ROM, but there are other to use. swampy395 also has a pretty good 6.5 ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=482997
also make sure to remove the sd card AND the sim card from the device before upgrading and have the battery charged 100%, that should do the trick
please delete
Unfortunately its impossible to change ROM...I tried every Xplode ROM from ver 5 to 6.5, and also I tried swampy395 ROM... Always the same problem remains - GSM drop after I try to call or receive phone call, and after that, no SERVICE at all... I switched to every radio ROM from 1.00.00 - 1.15
I think I'm doing everything ok:
1) removed SIM card & memory card and confirmed that battery is 100% full
2) Entered bootloader and start MaUpgradeUt_noID
3) After upgrade is finished, I have done hard reset and entered in boot menu then do NO YES YES
4) After system is normally booted, I inserted SIM card, switched phone ON and reset it after that, because radio ROM need to boot also
And that's the way I have done upgrade
wow, that's a tough one.
question: i saw, the shipped rom you used, was orange uk, is your phone actually a british orange branded one, or was that just a test shipped rom?
have you ever, in wm2003 or wm6 tried running xda unlock? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=240784 to get a sim unlock or just for fun?
and let me just throw one more thing in the discussion, the newer roms seem to support newer sim cards that wouldn't have worked with wm2003, maybe that is true the other way around as well, maybe your sim card is too old to work in "your new phone". happened to me once with another phone. contacted my operator and they sent me a new sim card, with the same number. a copy of my old card, just on the new ones.
have you ever tried it with another sim card?
wow, that was all i can come up with, your problem is really complicated and you already tried so much yourself, there is hardly anything to suggest anymore
Chef Tony my friend,
I have to unlock my phone when I receive it from UK (ORANGE UK is phone for sure) I do unlock with xdadev_all_unlock-v1.6_138.exe and its successful. I do unlock again for many times with new ROMs but nothing happened. I also try 4 different SIM card and there is no change... I will contact my network operator to see what they think...
Many thanks for helping me
Hi there. Have you solved this problem?

please make sure, you tested all the things suggested before. plus after posting three posts in a row, i would have expected a little more information, like rom version, country, carrier, radio version and so on. there is nothing new to say, if we have to guess everything.
about youtube, well, that depends on what rom you are using, you might even be able to just go on the site in your browser, of if you want a faster and more reliable solution, try -=this=-
Im still on wm2003... there is no solution for me
