hero rom navigation - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i finally installed sucessfuly a hero rom but googloe maps does not have navigation any suggestion on how to upgrade it?

the Newer Google Maps are for Android 1.6 and up.
If you want Navigation on a Hero ROM, search google for Sprint Navigation.apk
It works 100% and it works on t-mobile (I can confirm this)
I hope this won't go under piracy since I didn't post any links but if it is...I'M SO SORRY!!!! Delete my post if it is piracy.

cant find google maps 4 in market.
im using 2.1 rom.
which rom is the OP running exactly?
your sig says mcr 3.0
OP already resolved the issue.
i know it was solved.
the reason i asked was because i was using mcr 3.0 and couldnt even see gmaps in the market let alone update it.
Im moving to a 2.1 rom, just wanted to know which rom he used the solution on.
OP stated they are running CyanogenMod 1.0 for the HTC Hero.

Rom cooking Market Issue

Hi,
i was trying to cook some rom. I compiled the 2.1 for dream, added the apps those were missing in the aosp build. Made the update.zip, signed it, flashed it. Everythin works great but the market did not showed up. And the google sign in didn't worked via wifi and i dont have data plan. so couldn't test that if it works via data either,,, Any help would be highly appreciated.....
Thanks!
Sorry Guys just found out there is another thread goin on with the same issue!!!
But how can i delete the thread???

how to install java application files ??

any1 know how to install java files from computer
i downloaded alot of files from getjar.com but i can install but when i open it gives me error can you guys help me please
or does aria supports java or not??
i think the aria only installs from .apk files.
what ?? but my htc tattoo had a java application and you can install all javas apps why not in this one??
on the htc spec sheet for the aria, it says it is java-enabled, but to what extent? i'm not sure. i've never tried to install a .jar file onto it.
there is an application in the market called "Java/J2ME Runner" by Netmite, which claims to "Run Java/j2ME/MIDP NATIVELY." perhaps that would do the trick?
nop its not allowing its says its been blocked
is there any other rom that will allow me ???
i hate this att stupid rom
please do tell me full working rom that supports everything please

are you trying to do this on the stock at&t rom that ships with the phone? i don't imagine you'll have much, if any, luck there.
i'd suggest installing attn1s CM6-FroYo rom and trying it again. if you do like the sense ui though, you could try attn1s liberated aria rom.
You should tell us the exact error you're getting and we'll better be able to answer your question. Your last post said it was being blocked. The stock ROM doesn't allow any apps to be installed outside of the marketplace regardless of what type. So unless you've rooted your phone and used one of the sideloading hacks (search the Aria forums for "side loading") then you won't be able to do this. It's not that the phone can't, but the software is getting in the way.
im trying to install java apps but att rom blocks it soo i was thinking of installing those apps without rooting but anyway i will have to rooted to install these apps
attns1 froyo doesnt support camera yet soo i might wait for that or install librated aria rom
thanks all pplz for answering and helping

Google Maps for donut disappeared?

Hi, I just wiped my g1 with superd (1.6) , i went to reinstall google maps and... it is disappeared from the market?
Is no more compatible with donut?
Latest Google Maps requires Android 2.1+.
Also, most if not all of the apps required android 2.x as far as I can remembered.
Yes, i noticed
There is a working apk for donut somewhere?
I remember 5.4 worked
I wonder why they don't use the multiple apk option for their apps, leaving people behind, the stock maps app does not work anymore, FC at launch...
you should upgrade to Gingerbread CM7 it is fast but not donut fast
but you will have MOOOOOORE Features with it
Any gingerbread rom is not stable enough yet use froyo for trout u can flash the cm contact mod and mms mod to get some features from cm its fast and stable
Sent from my T-Mobile G1 using XDA App
I feel that any android > 1.6 is slow on the Dream
Anyone has the latest apk for donut?

Nice! Youre right!

[Q] Google Play, where can I get it??

Hey everyone, I just had to revive my Hero for my girlfriend whose Evo Shift just lost its touchscreen input.
It's running LiquidSense 2.1 and has android market right now, but doesn't let her download anything from market. I'm assuming she needs Google Play to be able to download apps (other than directly installing .apks)
Does anyone know where to get it or could provide its Hero compatible .apk??
Thanks all!!
Nevermind, I found that 2.1 does not support Google Play and just put a Gingerbread rom on it and it ran Google Play no problem!
Cyanogen Mod is pretty cool actually, still have an image of a Sense Rom just for safety though.
Off to fix the Shift!!
