Thinkoutside Stoaway Keyboard Drivers - HD2 Accessories

The stowaway keyboard seems to work but the FN + shortcuts no longer does. Is there a driver out there that will work for the keyboard?

I've uploaded the Ver 4.0 Drivers here...
I'm using my Thinkoutside Stowaway Keyboard with no problems at all.....
I'm using the Version 4.0 Driver set - I've uploaded the drivers >>HERE<< for anyone that needs them. The .zip file includes the cab files for installation and the pdf documentation/instructions too.
Apologies for the file duplication (2 of everything) but didnt notice until after the upload?
Hope this helps....
.

Thanks a lot for the drivers! I was getting worried that I would have to buy a new one for full compatibility or had to resort to buying BlueInput. It's a shamed that they discontinued the Stowaway series since the keyboard was ingenious and a must for maximum productivity.

Thanks for the drivers. I had tried the keyboard but the drivers must have been a different version.
What's the password protected folder?
Anybody got the Stowaway / Think Outside mouse working?

Are there any keys for the bottom left and right softkeys?

I am trying to get my stowaway keyboard running, but am not half way successful so far: it works with the English keyboard layout, but I need the German one. I tried using the fingerprint keyboard drivers and the AEK keyboard mapper but to no success. AEK ignores mapped keys.
The stowaway drivers 4.0 only have the English layout, 3.xx habe the German keyboard layout but do not work with the HTC HD2.
Any suggestions?

Here's the direct link from igo:
http://corporate.igo.com/Support/PPC OS/PPC 4.0 BT Mouse KBD/English/4.0 English.zip
It supports the Stowaway 5 row keyboard, Stowaway 4 row keyboard, Stowaway Infrared Keyboard, and Stowaway Bluetooth Mouse.

What do you mean? AEK keyboard mapper works in version 1.3.

hi, same here with my hd2 german rom (anja 2.02). after assigning a key with aekmapper, the key dosent respond anyhow. but maybe i simply do something wrong in the configuration.

can you guys tell me how you got the posted driver 4.52 work? I install it on main memory while bluetooth is turned off, soft reset my HD2 and the keyboard software always tells me "Bluetooth system not found" when I hit enable Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard. I'm on 1.66 stock ROM. I'm trying to get AEKMAP work but couldn't succeed with original HID drivers, remapped keys always go dead. I want to try with the IGO driver. Thanks.

I am also interested to know how you got the posted driver to work.

hi, as far as i know the hd2 dosen't need a driver at all for a bt keyboard. just pair the keyboard via bluetooth like any other device and start typing. the basic keys and features are fully working. what wont work with this solution, are the special language keys like 'äöü?' in german, ore other keyboard layouts like 'qwertz' or 'azerty'. a lot of the 'blue' and 'green' colored functions are also missing. and that is what the drivers are good for, but non of them work for me.
regards mad

At the moment, the drivers do not support the Bluetooth Stack of the HD2. The only way to fix that is to wait for the new BlueInput software.

How to get the Stowaway keyboard working....
All. Not the most "technical" of solutions but....
1. Install the driver onto your HD2 using the Think Outside PPC5 En.cab
2. Do not run the Think Outside software as this will not recognise the keyboard due to the BT Stack issue already mentioned by CyberSniper.
3. Pair the keyboard with your HD2 using the standard Bluetooth application (ensure the keyboard is in "discovery mode" - press Ctrl+BlueFn+GreenFn and ensure green light is flashing) when you come to input the passcode your HD2 will ask you to type a series of numbers using the keyboard...! Once you've paired go to settings for the keyboard and "authorise" connections.
4. Start any programme that requires text input - text message for example.
5. Press on the up arrow next to the keyboard symbol (bottom centre of screen) and the SIP menu will pop-up (see attached screen-shot 1) and you can select "Stowaway Keyboard"

}
6. One selected (see screen-shot 2) the icon in the bottom right corner will show that the Stowaway keyboard is not connected (cross though Icon) BUT it works fine - admittedly only with the English keys mapped though....
Hope this helps clarify for those struggling?
.

Thanks, that was very helpful. Now to try it.

My FN buttons still don't work (and I don't really care about them) but thanks to you I got AEKMAP working !!

Has anyone gotten the Function keys working using the system described above? I have no joy. Cheers,
wab

Function (Fn) Keys are working fine for me - English Key-mapping) for both numeric - Blue Fn and Navigation and Symbols - Green Fn... ????
.

Really?!
So ,
(Blue Function) + Enter = OK
or
Blue Function + X = Close
Blue Function + S = Contacts
etc etc....
This is so infuriating! I've been trying in vain to get that to work since day 1 with my old stowaway.
I'm on 1.48 ROM. Maybe that has something to do with it...
EDIT: Could you post up your CAB file only please? Maybe its a localized settings thing even though I'm English UK settings (I think.. at least I should be)

[Fixed] how can I map Ctrl button to the hardware

[FIXED]
now that I know how to remap the windows key on the qwerty, I will write a small step by step for other users having trouble with PQzII
Please note that all photos here are taken from the PQzII website, but I'm making them a little bit more simple.
http://www.nicque.com/PQz/DOC/index_e.htm
After you install the application:
1. Tap the white square until you get a drop down menu... choose Setup
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. On the first Tab [Ctrl/Alt] choose an SIP for Portlait/Landspace mode.
3. Choose a button from your qwerty that you don't use and you want to be used as Ctrl, for example Windows button (you can do the same for Alt)
4. You're basically done here... but you still want to get rid of the white square near start button, right?
5. go to a tab called [Icon]
move the bar to right so you get ICON POS= 240 [this is in portrait]
6.Change the orientation by sliding out the kb, then do the same as in #5. but now ICON POS=320
Please not that after you have don this trick, you will no longer see white square any more, thus you won't be able to enter the setup unless you go the PQzII folder and rung the setup manually : hit program PQzII_Setup.exe
7. make a shortcut of PQzII.exe in Windows/Startup
8.Done!
if you wish to know about the rest of the options PQzII offers, please visit the link posted above.
PQzII will run in the background in order for it to work
I had some problems with PQzII and Arabic Localization[can't write arabic untill I close PQzII even if the arabic SIP is choosen], but this may not concern many users here
I know this is not the greatest gide, but I wanna share my info with other users, espesially those having the same problem I had befor....

Hi everyone
I was wondering if there is a way to map a button from the qwerty to act as Control button?? let's say Fn key: when you press it for long time it'll become a ctrl key
I have seen many applications that can remap buttons.. but I couldn't find any one that will work on the qwerty.. all work on the hardware buttons next to the screen and on the sides of the device...
any ideas??
thanks in advance
Question how can I map Ctrl button to the hardware

Wait for it where? I too want to add CTRL to the physical keyboard! Will make copy cutting and pasting so much easier.
I finally figured out how to use PQZII, it's really useful

before i download this thing, i would like to quickly know if it will remap the physical key on the keyboard, or the button..
what i mean is if i where to map the windows key as the control key, would i still be able to use the windows key on the front of the phone (the one thats not on the keyboard) to get to the start menu?

I can tell you how it works on my hermes, i guess its the same with the Kaiser: If you Switch the Win-Key to Control-Key via PQzII this will also affect the front Win-Key, not only the Win-Key on the Slide-Keyboard...

it only affects the Win key on the qwerty
thats a bit of a contradition up there..
since the site is down.. i will post the cab
I cant get it to work... all the sites with the info are down or dont give explinations..
all i get is a little White box next to the start menu.. i was wondering if someone could give me really simple instructions on how to replace the windows key with the ctrl key.
Please read the first post, I have updated it with a mini guide, hope this will help

how did you manage to affect only the qwerty win-key and not the front key? in my kaiser both keys are affected by assigning the ctrl to the win.
i checked that both keys have the same system key code so technically it's not possible to assign in any application two different behaviours to these two keys. dod you really manage to do this? if yes, let me know what settings you put.
WIN hw butt. as CTRL
Doesn't work on my HTC TyTn II
I set PQzII like manual but HW keys doesn't work.

Diamond skin for PCM Keyboard (cab added 7/2)

Since the Diamond came out, I have liked the look of the keyboard and have been using the HTC ported version. However, I got used to some of the customization available from PCM Keyboard so I thought I would make a skin for PCM. Feel free to change or modify any of these files - I don't mind.
NOTE: The developer (tene) seems to have stopped development on PCM Keyboard. The current version is V14 and while it no longer has a beta expiration, it also has a few bugs that do not look like they will be fixed.
Bugs in PCM Keyboard V14:
1. Auto Suggestion does not work unless you hit the back space key. If you are entering an e-mail address and you press the first few letters of a name in your contact list, it should give you a list to choose from. V14 does not do url]this until you press a few letters and then hit backspace. This does not happen with all devices, but every ROM I have tried on my Elfin GSM it does.
2. IF you use the above mentioned method to get the suggestion list, with this skin the top address is hidden by the task bar. You can still select it, but you can't see it before you select it.
You can download V14 here: http://www.pocketcm.com/keyboard.php
The XDA PCM Keyboard page is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321712
For this "skin" to work, you must select the skin "Diamond" and the Layout "Diamond Eng" in the PCM settings. I suggest setting the "Show feedback on letters" to 1 ms if you like to see the letters pop up when you press them. It is a good idea to do a soft reset once you have set the skin and layout files.
I suggest using SIP Change to set this as your default keyboard (attached).
Features of this keyboard:
1. Capital letters appear when you press and hold a letter. Or Press shift once for one capital letter and double tap for caps lock on/off. The shift feature sometimes does not go back to lower case or will not stay in caps lock. That is why I did the pop-up caps from the lower case keys.
2. As you can see from the screen shots, there are many characters available from pop-ups on the main keyboard. Please be sure to look there before wondering where certain characters are. Yes there are some missing that I don't use - they can be added in the layout file by changing the type from layout to txt, open in notepad, replace your character with one in the layout, save, change to layout and load to device.
3. The "123" screen has some pop-ups that I didn't do screen shots for. The "E" will give you http:// or if you press and hold it will give you other options. The / key has \ on the press and hold. The - has _ on the press and hold.

Added a cab file that will install the layout and skin files to the \program files\PCMKeyboard folder. You still need need to choose the skin and layout files in the PCM keyboard settings.
will this run on VGA? or QVGA only
ok, I did install the cab file and restart my phone but still can't see the new skin!! I have HTC TOUCH
QVGA only....
To use SIP change you must go to programs and run SIP change. Select PCM keyboard, press select and wait for the app to exit (don't hit OK to close).

SIP change problem with Touch Dual
I am having the problem with SIP change with my Touch Dual. After installing SIP change, my touch dual will work veryyyyyyyyyy slow and I need to hard reset it. My current ROM is Niki Project V2. I never have this problem before while I use it with Hermes. So currently I need to change the default keyboard manually after each soft reset.
Any body have the same issue?

Sorry to hear that. You may want to try "default IM" posted on one of my other PCM keyboard threads. Or do a search for how to change the default SIP manually in the registry so you don't have any program doing it for you.

Thanks for the response. Follow the registry change below helps me:
"Using a registry editor, search within HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID for key IsSIPInputMethod. Then, for each one found look at the parent CLSID and you should see a string value (Default) set to the name of the input method (e.g Keyboard, Letter Recogniser, etc.) Once you find the CLSID entry for the input you want, make a note of it (e.g. {A070BE16-AD56-11d3-BC77-00C06C512035} is the Resco Keyboard one). Then find registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip and edit the string value DefaultIm to have the CLSID you require."

Does it do this with any skin, including the default "dream" skin? If so, it sounds like the same issue I have had with the PDA Viet ROMs and PCM Keyboard. No one seems to know what the fix is. Not that I would change ROMs only because of the keyboard, but there are some other great Touch ROMs that work with PCM Keyboard - like the PDA Mobiz (if you like lots of apps) or "AB's" Ultra Clean ROMs.
Anyone know how to do it on the Tilt? I installed the keyboard. Even the Dream 2 keyboard won't show on my phone. -____-

Will surely test it as soon as you upload it. This was desperately needed for the Greek community now that SE decided to botch (at least rumored) the Greek locale. Funnily enough, I was just mentioning the lack of a Greek rom for X1 (with the news of official X1 release in major Greek Mobile operators) at myphone.gr, and your work just appeared in time to edit my post.
From the screenshots I can see that you didn't include a keypad (in the dialer) with greek letters, although I've come across it (at least in black). Maybe you could include that too.
Great job!!! Well done!
Awesome!
Ευχαριστούμε Πολύ - Thank you Much

Will test with X1a
I just flashed. The rom is completely translated and its quality is very good. Some nice programs come with it and new icons on the taskbar.
One major drawback that I found though is that switching from portrait to landscape is extremely slow (while the opposite is blazing fast). Do you have something in mind? It seems that you use something to prevent landscape in Touchflo3D but in the process today's screen switching is dreadfully slow.
Also the symbol pad is missing, it is quite useful my opinion.
Overall it is quite good and fast, keep up the good work.
does this rom support voice dialing using a bluetooth headset? because the x1 original rom did not support voice dialing.

I've been trying to achieve this with 3 different roms with no success so far. Voice command and calling, working with bluettoth button, it would be very usefull...
It's a shame that is missing from the original xperia rom!
Does anyone else get a 5 second delay from portrait to landscape (landscape to portrait is very fast)? It is very annoying and the only thing from keeping me off this otherwise great rom.
It is weird though, there is clearly a 5 second delay in screen rotation because in those 5 seconds I can operate the unit normally.

Yes it works in this particular rom as well as with some others, when I press the bluetooth button a microphone icon appears on the taskbar and you can input voice commands.
My problem is that I don't like Voice Commander because it doesn't support Greek contacts. I need to use an external app with the bluetooth button ASAP but can't find anything. If Voice Commander can be launched via bluetooth button why this isn't possible for any application?

- Built-in Activesync initial setup (not the htc-skinned activesync wizard) and Connection settings: please use d-pad to navigate.
If you want footprints, install the mortscript cab attached. The footcam files have already been patched in the rom.
Disclaimer:

outie is a novice cooking ROM, so please be considerate before complaining about issues. The kitchen source is released so feel free to fix and patch stuff and share your findings. I have spent endless hours over the course of last 2 weeks on this, so I totally understand the hard work involved with the experienced chefs.

if not, will this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505904

How long did you wait? The connection takes a while before letting you to choose the carrier, which I noticed ever since R2A NAM is released. I think it takes 1min or so.

Mine does not have the buttons. I just tried to install it and it would not work because it's probably trying to replace the files being used, so I cooked it and it seems to work. I'll update the thread for the ROM that has this, as well as provide instruction on cooking it.
Thanks Outie, I will try flashing this pretty soon.....seems pretty bug-less !!
2 must have items
maybe a silly question bust these are essential for me:
Does it has a working FM-radio app or panel?
Does the panels work?
can you reply text message with hardware keyboard (landscape)
please someone reply to this so i can begin to flash!!!
In the photo-tab when you open a picture, you cant press the picture for options, or is it only me?

yes, the panels are included and radio panel works
you can reply to text messages fine with hardware keyboard but as outie said, the htc messaging is not included, so it's via standard windows messaging
@mikedomain
press the optical joystick button
i'm having problems with accuracy of touch screen. if i want to hide the software keyboard, when i press the small keyboard icon it registers as a 'p' or 'q' or something else. anyone else got this?
further to the above, in the menu in the htc picture viewer, the touch screen response is very inaccurate again
my reception has improved dramatically though! i'm on radio 1.14.25.55 and am getting two more bars everywhere

Thanks for the answer!!
Try to re-allign the screen in settings>sytem>screen
p.s. does the alarm works properly so that the sound is playing and repeating?
The new htc album seems to require htcscroll2 to function correctly, but htscroll2 does not work on wm6.1 devices. As a result, touch & scroll functions don't work in album but works for everything else afaik. I have tried many different methods to fix it but still no go. Either album works and the rest don't, or album doesn't and the rest do, so I just have to sacrifice album. You can still navigate w/ the optical joystick/hardware keys.
As far as the accuracy of the soft keyboard button, yes I am experiencing the same problem, and have no idea how to fix. It might be related to htcscroll2 (hell I'll blame it for everything). If anyone knows how to fix please share.
Hi Outie, could you please post your ROM (version 3) to this ftp site? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=447725
I am having some serious trouble with rapidshare...
Looks like a fantastic ROM, anyone tried TestOpenGL.exe test on it yet? I am hoping it will be fast AND have all the LEO eye candy
Hi Outie,

@outie
i wait more than 5 min.
its is problem of my radio version?

Start -> Settings -> Connections -> Connections
After this selection my x1 freeze... only with soft reset can use it again the device

Physical vs on-screen keyboard issue

Hi Guys, just getting acclimated to the S6, so far so good but one nagging issue.
I can't get the on-screen keyboard to display when needed with the physical keyboard attached. Lemme explain...
Sitting with device on my lap, keyboard folded all the way back. It is rightly disabled in this position so for any inputs I would need the on-screen keyboard (Ideally this would happen automatically since the physical keyboard is disabled)
I have 'Language and Input->Keyboards->Show Keyboard Button' set On, so I have the little keyboard button on the bottom right of the screen when an input field is active. I would expect press the button, select a keyboard and then see it.
But all the keyboard button does is pop up a selection dialogue with available keyboards (even if Samsung Keyboard is the only one), and when I make a choice, the dialogue disappears and then...nothing. This is where I expect the on-screen keyboard to come up but it just doesn't.
I've tried removing all other keyboards with just Samsung Keyboard remaining, same behavior.
I don't want to resort to removing the physical keyboard every time, or setting Physical Keyboard->Show On-Screen Keyboard to On because if I am using the physical keyboard I don't want to be constantly seeing and closing the on-screen verson.
Seems like a bug unless I'm missing something. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks,
Howard
In Dex Mode you have this keyboard button - to show the software keyboard even when the physical keyboard is attached.

don't believe he is talking about DEX.
Ive not found a similar button for normal android mode.
I am having the same issue. In tablet mode with the keyboard folded behind the tablet I cannot figure out a way to get a keyboard on the screen. The physical keyboard is disabled like this because it does not enter text. Hitting the small keyboard button in the bottom right brings up google voice, samsung keyboard, and samsung voice. Samsung keyboard is selected but no keyboard appears. Looks like from that there "should" be a keyboard. Im thinking this is a bug.
OP here. A "Samsung Care Ambassador" provided very good feedback on a similar thread I started in the Samsung support forums. I'm too new here so can't post links but in Samsung -> Support -> Community search for the thread titled "Problem with Tab S6 Physical vs On-Screen Keyboard" to see the whole story. If someone here with >10 posts could reply with the link it will be easier for others here to view it.
Appreciate the replies.

Thank you for posting that !
I solved this by going to Settings - General Management - Language and Input - Physical Keyboard and turning on Show on-screen Keyboard. That seemed to work for me.
I tried enabling the function "show on screen keyboard", but now the on screen keyboard shows everytime, even using the physical one. There must be a function to activate the on screen kb only when the tablet is on portrait mode, with the pysical folded behind. I couldn't do it.
Anybody can share the solution? The link above does not work for me. Shows it is locked or missing :/
