Display: 7 inch TFT LCD
OS: Windows CE 6.0
Memory: 128MB (supports up to 256MB)
Storage: 1GB flash storage (supports up to 4GB)
Connectivity: 802.11b/g WiFi, 10/100 LAN, optional 3G USB modem
I/O: mic, headphone, 3 USB ports, SD card slot
Note I have the ARM9 model, without the x86 processor upgrade.
I would like to find a way to replace Windows CE with Android, possibly using the recently released VMWare for mobile (ARM build)
Anyone who could assist me on this, I would gladly be your *****
Wasn't sure which forum to post this in.

Anyone?
I know XDA is inhabited by the finest minds, surely someone can help me with this?

I think this would be very difficult to do. Especially if you want to put in a virtual box. With those specs running both Windows C.E and Android would make it slow.
If you wanted to replace the OS on there, you'd have to write all the drivers from scratch.
I wouldn't say its very possible.

is there anyway to run windows mobile apps on a windows ce device? also is there a way to run the windows mobile interface on a windows ce device?

some run, some don't, so you'll need to test them. no way to get winmo interface on ce or vise versa.the only share the kernel

Yes, WinCE and WinMo are different operating systems, they share the same kernel. Using WindowsCE on this machine is about 80% the same as using Windows XP.

HARet
Still digging for info, as these things are becoming popular now.
Haret will run on this. And I have the Topaz Android build 2.01, I just need some help with configuration. I hope someone will read this and help me out!

note0: Obtaind before CompuServe gave us their GUI and from which the OSI deployed www then win95 came with Explorer-IE-Explorer GUI
Test 4 every WinOS: goto my Computer cq Explorer (not IE) and remove c:\* (current drive path) and replace it with a known url Guess what? ... Bwhahahaa; internet access for Win7 Barebone Edition! And *oops* on most if not all WinOS..
-- Of course it is best to log in with a Guest account (created by you the Admin) with limited internet access to only download a nice browser like Opera or Firefox, while using this dangerous 'tweak'. *cough* Plus it comes in handy when IE broke down during an live update and refuses to work. But,.. it's not my recommendation for obvious reasons!
note1: Used since/on win95 ~ABC, Win98 ~SE and WinXP flawlessly!
note1b: not tested; Vista / Windows7 (please let me know so I can include it in this post after an edit TIA).
note2: A tool from my kitchen. Now a share here on forum.XDA-developers.com Please distribute, as its been freeware from day one. Though I never shared it B4
note3: HandleSpy is nice to use in combination with (tools more powerfull than) ResHacker.
note4: It has no network awareness and no polymorphic AI eighter Its WYSIWYG though.
Have fun,

Where is the installer?
It went into the void of C/P darkness and was temporarily lost, luckily it's beacon was working so I could retrieve it with a tractor beam. Attached now

[Q] Nook Color wl1271 unlock?

its a long shot but maybe some here can help or at least refer me to someone who can...
i was wondering if anybody was able to enable the Bluetooth and/or FM capabilities of the Nook Color. as it has the wl1271 which according to TI supprorts BlueTooth and FM Transmitting and receiving . it seems to me that it might be a simple software change to enable both of them.
i tried building the original kernel and inserting the BT firmware scripts i download from TI (Froyo_L27.5.2_Connectivity_1271_Panda-1.0-Linux-x86-Install)
and i still cant get the blutooth to show up :-/
any ideas? is there a possibility that the UART interface is not connected on the NC to the BT and therefore cannot control it? i assumed that this chip has only one Host interface which the wifi uses and therefore there shouldn't be any problems with the other capabilities
This isn't the Q&A section

Apply your question(s) in the proper sub-forum, or it might result in a temporary vacation
Actually i'll leave this open, see where it leads to
Here is a thread about the BT and the FM by pokey9000:

Also you can check this out by dahonda:

very interesting read...
wow
it is a great post but it got dirty with all bunch of other topics, i think this issue deserves its own thread as it can lead to enabling 2 amazing features for the nook.
so, basically we need to see if the HCI interface pins are connected right to enable this feature...
the minimum requirements according to the document are:
12 BT_EN <--> GPIO on OMAP.
13 HCI_TX <--> UART lines on the OMAP. UART2_TX
15 HCI_RX <--> UART lines on the OMAP. UART2_RX
17 HCI_CTS <--> OMAP UART CTS line. UART2_CTS
19 HCI_RTS <--> OMAP UART RTS line. UART2_RTS
but how can we check that? is it possible that B&N didnt connect this on purpose ?
that would be such a waste, on the other hand they didnt put a Mic support 3.5 headphones jack even that its supported...
Someone needs to open the NC... trace and measure...
as the USB host will not provide any data...
Edit:
I found this link from ti... pre-compiled linux drivers...
you may need a panda board...

The WL127x doesn't work like that. It goes through the UART, so there's no enumeration. The kernel doesn't know if it's working until you run succeed in running an hciattach on the interface.

Meh - just reread the question. If you can't install anything on it then I don't see what you can do. Reflash back to stock and leave it in a working state.
Well
I don't agree... I currently have the stock FW installed but I wan't to root the device to make 100% use of the hardware

[Q] how to use BackgroundAudioPlayer in WP8.1 SilverLight

Hi everyone I tried to use BackgroundAudioPlayer many times on WP8.1 Silverlight but couldn't be played anything
Now I started searching about what's going wrong I found tht :
The AudioPlayerAgent and AudioStreamingAgent classes, which supported background audio playback for Windows Phone 8 apps, are not supported in Silverlight 8.1. If you want to support background audio playback, you can continue to use a Windows Phone 8 app or create a Windows Phone Store app, which supports new background audio APIs.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
What is the solution or other way to run same thing as BackgroundAudioPlayer in 8.1 silverlight ?
Are you expecting us to tell you something other than what's already in the quoted blob?
Option 1) Use Silverlight for 8.0, not 8.1
Option 2) Make a Windows Phone Store app and use the new background audio APIs (first search response for "Windows Phone Store" background audio

Thank you GoodDayToDie
Hmm, not sure how to cause that control to display on the screen programmatically. It's easy to make the app update it and get events from button presses on it, though. Check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...ndows.media.systemmediatransportcontrols.aspx (linked from the page I linked before).

e-Cigarette Mod with a touch screen and music capabilities - firmware upgradeable

Hey there guys, I'm writing in the off topic section about this e-cigarette I've just got, it's called Joyetech Ocular C and it comes with a color touch screen , music player and photo viewer capabilities , bluetooth conectivity, a pedometer to count your steps and from what I understand, it has around 2Gb of memory , it is firmware upgradeable and I'm wondering if there is more that can be done to it in therms of functionality.
It's true that vapers, the people who smoke e-cigarettes as their called, dont really need any of this functionality in their devices since they mainly use them purely for smoking, it's nice however to have something a little extra to go with it.
I've looked online for custom firmwares or methods to customise your firmware for these type of devices, but i've only found info on old devices that come with small monochrome screens and the most you can do is upload logos on to the device.
My interests are on how you can access the root of the system built into these devices since it must have a processor and a file sistem inside, how to edit some of these files , per example, you have the option to upload around 100 pictures and some songs ( the memory on it is 2GB ) but there's no way of deleting them once uploaded, in case your storage gets full.
Also it would be nice if users could implement or extent more functionality in the device, par example it only suports .jpeg files in the photo viewer , .png &/or .gif to use as a screen saver would be nice, more so even video playback capability .
And before I get laffed at for asking so much out of an electronic cigarette, I think that since it does come from the factory with all these functionalities and hardware, it's a shame they dont use it to it's fullest.
So is there anyone having any clues on how to "get inside" these devices and tuning them up ?
I've included the latest firmware I could find for the device as well as the program they offer for you to upload it onto the device. If anybody could crack it opn and take a look inside and see at least what's in there, that would be a start.
