Remove status bar? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hello there, i see that home++ app is really nice and all and it removes the status bar(notification bar)... and it does it only in home screen but once a app is open it shows again. is there a way to just disable it completely?

No, and it would be a really stupid thing to do since it means that you will have no status bar or access to notification area.
It is actually just a terrible idea for the home application to obscure it.
Also should be considered EXTREMELY RUDE for an application to obscure it without a very legitimate reason for doing so -- i.e. movie player or 3d game.

you can just make it transparent to give the "look of a bigger area... I do this with my launcher tab... never tried with the status bar.... hmmm..

Is a fullscreen homscreem possible?

I was curious if a fullscreen home screen is possible? Which still included everything on the notification bar. So instead of white or black like alot of themes out there it would be more of the background still including the icons and such.

home++ is fantastic but i think he wants an invisible notification bar with all the icons still there, right?
In which case, people have been trying for ages but i'm pretty sure it can't be done.

Yeah thats what I'm asking. I have a BB Storm 9530 and I was able to make my themes like what Im asking.
People tried to do it before but as soon as you add some transparentcy to the status bar it just shows black in the background. If you 're determined enough, you can colormatch your status bar to the backgound that you use and make it work that way although it sounds like too much work to me.
Good luck.
The main problem with this is that the wallpaper is drawn only to the bottom of the status bar.
The second problem with this is that the wallpaper is drawn by the Launcher itself rather than being drawn UNDER the launcher.

Is it possible to hide the click in the top right? (Captivate)

Is this possible? I find it redundant to use beautiful widgets with a clock already on the screen...
Thanks.

I'm sure it would be by modding the framework file. You should maybe start there and see where that goes.
You can do it by modding the framework file, or take the easy way like I did and use launcherpro and have it set to hide the notification bar.

Thought of that, but then I cant see my notifications at the top which I use a lot.. id just like to remove the clock, and slide all the battery and signal info to the right to take up its space.
I found work-arounds for that problem too lol. I customized my dock with 'call', 'texts', and 'gmail' icons and set the preference to show the 'unread' or 'missed call' count on the icon. I think it just makes my home screen look cleaner. Plus I get the full screen view of Katy Perry's half naked body woot woot.
Or you can also just set the notification bar to be hidden, and set the home softkey to pull down the notification bar.

4.2.2 update and duplicate icons

Hi All,
I have a HTC One and recently got the OTA update for Jellybean. On the bar at the bottom i have Phone, Messages, Email and camera but then when i go to my apps i have the same icons again. Seems a little pointless and it's wasting 4 spaces for other apps in the folders.
I also cant hide them or freeze them as it removes both of the icons.
Any ideas how to remove the duplicates and just have them on the bar at the bottom?
Also can i set the home button to go to the app screen and not Blink or the other home screen?
No and no to your questions as far as I know. Two of the unwelcome new features and other me. Personally I created a "useless" the folder and throw all those additional icons in.
Thanks for confirming, shame i should have read all of the notes on the upgrade.

Do you even look at your phone, know how to use search, or Google? I doubt it.
By selecting the 'custom' appdrawer, you can select which icons you want to display and folders etc.
Now, both of you go away and give yourself a good talking to :silly:
I have to be honest I don't have to many friends but I think you may have missed the point of the question or your skim readings are rubbish.
I have the camera, messages, emails and phone icon on the bar at the bottom And in the normal app area. The custom feature is brilliant but when I hide the camera icon it hides both of the icons.

MOD Transparent Navigation Bar Throughout the System

Is there a mod to make the navigation bar transparent or translucent and not black throughout the system or within apps?
Or invert the color of the bar like the LG G3?

Oh yeah, Just like mine now. Take a look baby
What mod is that?
Edit: does anyone know if there's a mod for marshmallow?
Nobody?

Nova launcher lets you change it to transparent.

Only when the rom supports it, right? I tried it and it stayed black

I am on stock marshmellow, although I did buy the Nova prime, that is probably the difference

But.. Does it also work when you're in for instance whatsapp? Could you post some screenshots in some apps? Because it's only transparent on the home screen on my Nexus 6

Unfortunately if the app doesn't allow it, I don't think it's possible
Here is the deal. When you use a launcher that allows transparency, it is only on the home screen. That is because the homescreen is designed to allow the window (of the application) to sit behind the status bar and navigation bar. Windows for other applications do not sit behind these bars. They stop when they meet them. If you actually had a transparent navigation bar and you were in facebook, you would not see the background of the app behind it. You would see dead space, which may be white, grey or black. Not the effect you're looking for.
Conversely, if the app windows DID sit behind these bars, some functionality would be lost. eg. buttons at the bottom of the app would sit behind the navbar. There are apps and mods that can achieve this, such as expanded desktop, but is it really worth losing functionality for this?

That looks pretty inconvenient. What happens when you hit the spacebar? Goes home?

To expand on that a little bit, the notion of having something transparent depends on there actually being something behind it to show through, which really doesn't make much sense.
In fact, the transparent "effect" (at least, on the notification bar at the top) is something done by the application itself, by defining the boundaries of the application to extend above the border of the application window, hence drawing something up outside of the application's area.
The nav bar can't be made transparent in the same manner, but the application developer has the option to set the color.

App drawer icon size?

Hello,
I am sorry if I am in the wrong sub, this seemed the most appropriate section but forgive me if I am wrong.
So basically I got this icon pack called "min" (also using Nova Launcher, don't know whether this has anything to do with it, I am very new to customizing), and when I applied the icon pack, my app drawer icon was the same size as my regular icons.
Now suddenly, without changing anything (that I know), my app drawer icon got huge again and I cannot figure out how to change it back to the size of the other icons from the icon pack (I added an image to show you what I mean, it kind of looks ridiculous now haha).

I must be doing something extremely dumb wrong, but I cannot figure it out. Any help on this?
Kind regards
