NexTheme for G1/MT3G - KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.6.1 - Android Themes

This theme is based off of MAnup456's NexTheme that he has at Nexus-Nation.com. I am releasing it now because of the fact that I'm soon getting a nexus and the screen on my mytouch is shattered so I will not be continuing the port.
Soo.
this includes Launcher2.apk , GenieWidgets.apk , Music.apk , Settings.apk and framework-res.apk , and a modified LiveWallpapers.apk and afew wallpapers resized from manups theme
framework is totally done so most of the orange highlights are now green.
push files in system/app/ folder to system/app
push files in system/framework to system/framework
copy files in sdcard/myNexusD to /sdcard/<wherever you have your wallpapers>

this is using the framework-res files found here mixed with other frame-works to get a nice dark phone. however status bar doesnot have white text even tho it was stated the services.jar was edited for white text
ps. for some screens of the phone = http://twitpic.com/photos/miDroid_Mike

Very nice theme and finally we a good working theme and easy to install (well it was for me), so Thank You
However when you pull down the notification bar, everything is too dark (i.e background and text). So do you think you can change text colour into white?
Many thanks,

anyway not to use abd, i have OSX and dont know how to use abd to be honest, is there a terminal method or some other way?

dude that is soo neat! but is there a way of getting just the google search bar on its own??
Thanks

as for doing this without adb
terminal. transfer the files to your sdcard, open terminal and
su
rwsystem
cp /sdcard/Launcher2.apk /system/app/
cp /sdcard/Music.apk /system/app/
etc.

trying to copy framework-res.apk always freezes my phone. all others get through OK
edit: pushing the file through adb worked

Sorry for the noob question, but how do you install this? I flashed Manup's 2.1 Eclair rom with no problem but this is a bit out of my comprehension. Any help?

I'm glad you realize that it was a noob question..the answer, however, lays in the title of the thread itself:
NexTheme for G1/MT3G - KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.6.1
Keyword: KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.6.1
Now, I might be the noob here, but I do believe that means that it's for KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.6.1 and that alone. This theme will not work on the Manup ROM you downloaded and flashed, but this will work on KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.61, believe it or not. So go back to the android development section and download and flash KingKlick AOSP2.1 1.6.1, then come back to this thread and then push the files from adb(http://theunlockr.com/2009/10/06/how-to-set-up-adb-usb-drivers-for-android-devices/) and there you go! You'll have a fully working theme. I hope that's not beyond your comprehension as well.

Hahahaha! Extremely nooby. Sorry I'm new to this . Thanks. Your reply made me laugh.

Ok, so after an hour of trying and failing, I found out trying to get ADB on phone is to much of a hassle and a pain.
So I'm going to do a terminal transfer,
when I type cp /sdcard/launcher2.apk/system/app/ I get 8 options with letters next to each. I know I'm supposed to do this for every file but which option do I choose?
-a same as -dpR
-d,-P Preserve links
-H,-L Dereference all symlinks (default)
-p Preserve file attributes if possible
-f force overwrite (<- I was going to choose this one)
-i Prompt before overwrite
-R,-r recourse directories
-l,-s create (sym)links
Which one do I choose? Thanks!

Installing this.
in order to adb push where exactly do I put the files on my computer after I download them?
EDIT: okay so I extracted the files to the androidsdk/tools/ folder and when I go to push them this is what comes up...
"failed to copy *w/e file I try to push* to 'system/app' : Is a directory"

Finally got ADB to work! Thanks eessel!
Now that I got ADB to work how do I push the files? ROFL

I'm in the same boat lol

LOL Im getting the same message as you... I could push it to the sdcard no problem, but thats not what we're supposed to do. How do we push it to system/app??

lol I have no clue man, I've looked for hours on how to actually use abd not just how to install, the install was no problem once I figured it out.

[THEME] Ultra Espresso v.02 [CM5.0.7][4/30]

UPDATE 4/30: Ported to run on CM 5.0.7
It's been a while since I've messed with themes. Here is one I've been working on recently. It is based of the HTC Espresso UI. So far I've only edited the framework, contacts, and launcher apk's. Will finish more when I get time. All images were optimized with OptiPNG.
I do want to give credit to drpfenderson, I took a few images from his framework-res.apk, until I modify them myself.

And considering this theme is 1.14mb when most are >10mb, I am thinking there is something wrong here...

It shouldnt really matter what version SuperD youre running, so I dont know why it's not working for you. I uploaded v0.1 again, but this time you won't need to rename it, just to make things easier.

It works fine for me on SuperD 1.9.2 with Dwangs kernel, but I modified it a little bit, because I love the white version
I call it latte-macchiato
But this theme looks awesome I really like it Good job, ultra spikey

It's called weather widget But I think it's the donate version
Got to admit I only used the Contacts part of your Metamorph as I find the launcher a bit too big.
But got to say, great work nonetheless! Really dig the dialer!
this theme couses problem with market. after metamorphing, market doesnt install apps
PS I am sure this is framework.res problem. I installed contacts and launcher, and everythink is fine. After frameowork, market crashes
I think I figured out why some people are having issues. Looks like SuperD's system partition needs to be mounted as read-write in order for the Metamorph to push the files. Just enter this in Terminal first to remount as read-write, then Metamorph.
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
edit: nevermind, this worked the first time, then tried it again to test and now it won't morph. I'll look into it more tomorrow, going to sleep.

[THEME] Rotary Style Lockscreen for EE 3.0 or CE 1.1 [UPDATED: 06/08/2010]

[THEME] Rotary Style Lockscreen for EE 3.0 or CE 1.1 [UPDATED: 06/08/2010]
This is a rotary style lockscreen for use with EE or CE. The one for EE may possibly work on other ROMs. However, it could cause a boot loop if it does not work, so make a backup before trying. It may also break things non-related to the lock screen. This mod involves editing the android.policy.jar file which is why this is specific to EE 3.0 and CE 1.1. If you like this mod but it does not work right on your ROM, send me your jar file and I will mod it for you.
I got the idea for this from this thread, so thanks to JsChiSurf for the files in the thread. I initially tried just flashing his zip, and it did give me the rotary style lockscreen, but it broke a lot of other system related items. So I compared both my file and his to find where the differences were to make this modded one for EE.
You can choose either the transparent background with the date and time showing or the transparent background with only the charge status showing. I am going to try and make these with the option for a background. There is a link to a MetaMorph theme in the second post if you would like to remove the arrows while unlocking. Let me know if any of you have other suggestions.
UPDATED: I removed the flashable zip files and made some MetaMorph themes that do the job for both EE and CE. The EE lockscreen is transparent atm and comes with or without the time and date. The CE one is not transparent and shows your current selected wallpaper or live wallpaper.

Instructions:
1. Do a NAND backup first!
2. Remove the HtcLockScreen.apk if you have not already
Code:
adb remount
adb shell mv /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk /system/app/HtcLockScreen.bak
3. Download the appropriate MetaMorph theme
4. Apply the theme in MetaMorph
(NOTE: If your phone does not reboot or MetaMorph does not ask you to reboot, or your phone locks while applying the theme, wait 10 seconds and either pull the battery or send a reboot command.)
5. Reboot & Enjoy
REMOVE ARROWS
1. Apply this MetaMorph theme from here to remove the arrows.
ADD BLUE UNLOCK BUTTON
2. Apply this MetaMorph theme to change to a blue button --> BlueRotary.zip This is loaded in the theme from the first post now
Oh wow, DO WANT.
After people stop texting me i'm definitely flashing this
I would love this for cyanogen eris
going to try and flash it and see if it works as is, just did a nandroid backup
Hey,
Firstly thank you for making this!
ITS AWESOME!
secondly just a quick suggestion, EE has always replaced the kind of stock HTC green with a blue. would it be possible to do this with the lock/unlock button so it fits the whole EE theme?

Check out this link. You should be able to use this. I didnt test it on CE so make sure to make a NAND first before trying. I have used it on Aloysius with no issues.

Would you mind sharing what/where the changes are? I would like to make one CyanogenEris.
It's fairly straight-forward, but it involves decompiling the Java classes, replacing some of them and then recompiling. If you read stopxstart's thread for the white notification bar, you will see what I am talking about. I will put together a little tutorial later when I get home from work.

I know how to de-compile it. I just need to know what changes where made to the smali files. Then I can make a metamorph for CE .
Sure, It's the LockScreen class. My files are at home, but you should be able to grab it from the one I posted.

Sweet! Just tried it .. Works! All I replaced was "LockScreen.smali" . If I don't see any errors I will post morph for CyanogenEris.
EDIT:
Ok, this is weird! Any idea why it says "SIM card is PUK-locked."? It only shows it when its plugged in to my laptop.
Try replacing the sub classes as well (I think that's what they are). There should be about five. They have the $ and integers in their name. If that does not help, then it is more ROM specific. To fix it will require editing the original smali instead of just replacing files. A Little more intense, but based on your results so far, it's possible.
Put this file in your MetaMorph theme to change the green button to cyan.

Yes, yes. Funny man. I know exactly where the problem is. Minor, very minor issue. The method is just referencing the wrong strings. I will fix it after work. I spent a while getting the other issue fixed. I'm an expert at logcat and Java errors now. At least they give you the line number.
By the time this is done, I will have added missed call notifications as well.

Possible to port "Super Circle Battery" ?

Hello.
Is it possible to port this Mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778 to our Hero?
'Cause than there isnt a need to install 3rd party apps (akku or battery).
I hope u can help me.
Best regards.
Try this its on the front page of the android themes section. Its a theme convertor and should port it for you
i tried this method and got in a bootloop, luckely i made a nadroid backup
will try with some other frameworks which are posted in that thread
Yeah i also tried it and get in a bootloop. I hope somebody get it working.

If you post your ROM I might be able to get it working, otherwise I could try making it a metamorph, shouldn't be too hard.

Hey, I did a dirty fix til I've fully understood how Metamorph works
As always, nandroid/bart backup and then you can do 1 of two things.
1. If you've got ADB set up, fire up cmd (win+r cmd) and write:
Code:
cd \
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk system/framework/
adb reboot
Make sure your framework-res.apk is positioned in C:\ or whatever the main drive letter.
2. Put the .apk on your sdcard and open up your favorite file explorer, copy it, navigate to root and then to system/framework. Paste it and reboot.
Good luck
PM or quote me if you stumble upon any errors.
EDIT: Ow, the color of the text that represents the percent is black and therefore blends in with the background. I'll see if I can find one with white text.
EDIT2: Fix'd. The new one should work, but as always be sure to nandroid just in case

I'm getting the same problem, I'll see if it's something related to the apk
I won't be able to do a port but I'm sure I've seen it be done for the hero, so I could try digging it up.
EDIT: It could be some kind of limitation in the kernel only allowing the battery to go in increments of 20 %. If anyone got a solution I'd be glad to hear it.
Here's the Desire Lockscreen (confirmed to work on CronosDroid 2.1.1) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6806909&postcount=25

Change time and notifications color

I'm trying to fully port a full white theme over for the Captivate. I've got the theme working, and all that stuff ported over, the only thing is it's a full white taskbar, and all the type up there is also white. So I can't see the time, anything on the notifications, nothing. I have no idea where to look to get this going, so any help or pointers are very much appreciated. In case you're wondering, the theme I'm attempting to port over is sonnysekhon's Frost theme.

Thanks, looking into it now, having some trouble with the jar file but I'll see what I can do. I love the way this theme looks, I want it to be usable though! Haha.

If you're using a froyo rom the instructions on the link wont work. They show you where to look but the code it looks for is wrong. If you post your "framework-res.apk" and "services.jar" both from your /system/framework/ folder on your phone I can change the color for you.

Thanks, it should be attached. I appreciate it. I need them changed to black, don't recall if I said that before or not. Thanks again!
I was actually able to get all the notification text changed. Only thing I'm having trouble with now is the clock. I assume that is what is in "services.jar" and I'm having trouble finding the line to edit in the classes.dex :/
My search will continue! And yeah, I'm doing this on a Froyo ROM, Assonance 4.3

Yeah you're right it's in "services.jar". Open the jar in winrar or 7zip and extract the classes.dex. Use "baksmali.jar" to decompile the dex file. Then open "com\android\server\status\StatusBarIcon.smali". The line you're looking for is in bold...
Code:
.prologue
[SIZE=4][B]const/4 v7, -0x1[/B][/SIZE]
const/4 v8, 0x0
.line 48
invoke-direct {p0}, Ljava/lang/Object;-><init>()V
The stock obviously is for white text... Change this to "const/high16 v7, -0x100" which is black.
Recompile with "smali.jar". Insert back into you're services.jar overwriting the original and push back to your phone. Reboot and you're set.
I attached the modded framework-res.apk and services.jar. Just push back to your /system/framework folder and reboot.

Thanks again, I tried my hand at compiling the smali editing to see if I could get it to work, as this whole experience has been pretty fun and I might want to have another go at it.
Looks like it took! Looks great, thanks for the help!

How's this? Close enough to the Gingerbread green for you? I went with the Gingerbread battery since the circle is going to take a while. The CWM is based off of Perception 8's framework files. Please know what you're flashing before you do it. I am not responsible if you flash this and it bricks your phone.

Sorry double post.
Thanks but are you gonna still continue trying to with the circle? It needs to be more of a neon looking green/ or brighter. Its fine but the color looks sorta dull. It needs to pop a little bit more but thanks for your effort.

Yeah. I have to rebuild the circle from scratch though so I through that one out for now. I pulled the clock color directly from the gingerbread battery but you're right it does look off when applied. I'm gonna play with it some more to try and get the color right.

Fritz i sent you a PM, i'd gladly donate for the help.
Well this thread has kinda taken a turn, but for those interested, I've gotten permission to port this theme to the Galaxy S and have a couple more things I need to fix up before I put it up. I will try to get to them by tonight, but might not be till tomorrow.
Here is the preview used in the original thread:
^^ wow that looks great! Hope it works with axura

I'm working on it on Assonance 4.3, not sure if that means anything as far as it working for Axura.

This release is for Gingerbread 2.3.2 CM7, should work on all HD phones with CM7 builds. This is a pre release of Minimal Matte HD that I have decided to make public due to requests from users. The theme will continue to grow similar to the original Minimal Matte release from last year.
Whats included in the pre release
Status Bar Icons
Notification Pulldown
Wallpapers
Docks
Dock Icons
Whats coming
Phone Dialer
Lockscreen (waiting for new Widget Locker)
User requests
Port to MDPI devices
Port to Froyo CM6.1
Possible Minimal Matte White release, depends on how popular the idea is.
Fix any missing status bar icons
The theme is pretty much done, if you were a fan/user of the original I think the the only thing people really used was the status bar, icons and notification pulldown.
Keep watching this thread for update changes in the title I'm sure there will be plenty once user requests start coming in. Also be ready for a couple of releases coming from the Desirable Designs team!
You can thank Westi01 for help with the MDPI port

would this work on cm 7 nightlys for nexus one?
just installed it and nothing changed...
Didn't work for me. I suppose this would work only over RC1? I'm using a nightly as there's no RC for the Droid yet.
cant wait for this to hit MDPI my MyTouch Slide would look great with this theme

Its based off of RC1, some people however are still saying its not changing anything. Phones confirmed its working on are MyTouch 4G, Desire HD, Inspire.. waiting for others to message me back about their experience.

Hopefully we will have a MinimalMatteHD.apk released soon, this is still pre release I was just getting a bunch of messages almost daily asking about it so I decided to release what was done.

MDPI is coming, should be here by the end of the week so no worries.
For those of you without RC1 builds you should be able to simply push the framework and systemui.apk
nandroid back up first!
adb devices
adb remount
adb push Systemui.apk /system/app (Capital S in Systemui.apk is a must)
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb reboot

If you do this please post back let me know how it goes, need to know if the CM7 builds are as close to the same as possible across devices.
I have RC1 for the Aria and I flashed the zip (which flashed in like .5 seconds btw) and rebooted.....and nothing. All the same.

hmm, I'll have to look into it, I would push them via adb if you know how to I put the commands in the post above.
Gingerbread and CWM 3.0 have changed theming and flashable zips so much.. soon enough though hopefully this will be a .apk

I pushed the files but I got a 4G icon, and no horizontal battery.
Do I also push SystemUI.apk to /system/framework too? or just /system/app?

The horizontal battery is in the framework-res.apk that needs to go to /system/framework
the Systemui.apk contains everything except the battery icons.

Also the zip doesn't work because you have no updater-script.

I do not. I was just talking to my buddies.
I pushed Systemui.apk to /system/app
and framework-res.apk to /system/framework and got bootloops. :/

I apologize for the inconvenience. I was not aware of the edify script to make update.zips. This seems to be a new feature/problem of Gingerbread. I currently don't know how to make flashable Gingerbread Zips. But if you like to apply the Theme via ADB do so.
Extract the MMLD.zip
put files from /system/framework /system/app and /system/fonts in the adb folder and push the files to your phone.
Make sure you entered Clockwork recovery first and pushed under mount options mount /system
Code:
adb push systemUI.apk /system/app
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework
adb push C:/fonts /system/fonts
At first you should place the whole fonts folder into C:/fonts

If you have questions you can check my signature to have a detailed description of pushing files to your device.
cheers.
