[UPDATE 22/2/10] Auto Memory Manager 1.2 released! - myTouch 3G, Magic Apps and Games

Hi guys, I've been working on an app to set the minfree setting on the Android which set the thresholds for when applications should be shut down. So please give me a try and let me know what you think. (Inspiration from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622666)
Features:
1/ Settings save and applied after reboot
2/ Easy to change settings with slider.
3/ Language support for English, chinese and spanish.
4/ Transparent background just for fun.
I would also like to ask for some help. My chinese isn't great and my spanish is non existent. So if anybody would like to volunteer to help me get better translations from English please PM me. Thanks. (current translation courtesy of Google).
v1.2
* Error reporting.
* See running processes and category.
* On first start sets default to Mild profile.
* Anonymous data collection (off by default)
Full change log is at http://madsquirrelapps.wordpress.com/auto-memory-manager-changelog/

does it have a autostart? will it keep the settings after reboot?

Hi. Yes. it keeps the settings after reboot. This is not like a normal task killer so there is no need to auto start. You just need to apply the settings and off you go.

great app! Better than every task killer!

[Q] CM7s 'CM Extra' as stand-alone app? Auto Brightness with Milestone/Froyo

Hi!
I'm new in this Forum and want to thank all you for your helpful posts!
I searched a lot, but I didn't find any solution for this problem (which seems to irritate also other users):
After upgrading to Android 2.2.1, 'Auto Brightness' does not work anymore. The problem is, that the Display gets brighter in the sun, but it does not reduce brightness in shade - which is very battery intense and irritating while driving in tunnels.
What I did so far:
+ checked and unchecked the 'Auto Brightness' setting many times ;-)
+ used widgets like 'extended controls' in the hope their settings will overwrite the problematic system-settings
+ was searching for the app "Auto Brightness" (SIMMO Publications) - which might be able to overwrite system settings. But downloading this app is not available for me (maybe because of country restrictions)
+ I rooted the phone - also for other reasons. With root I hope I can also reduce the minimum brightness level of 'Auto Brightness', which would be helpful using it as an alarmclock next to the bed.
Does anybody have an idea?
Best wishes from Austria!
No ideas to the Auto-Brightness Problem? People from Android-Pit-Forum didn't find a solution. So I changed to the forum with the best reputation ....XDA.. ;-)
It seems, that the light-sensor works well... because the button-light goes on and off according to the surrounding light intensity ...
Any idea or hint?
that's not a bug, that's a feature!
anyway - CM7 has the option just like you ask for - auto adjusting brightness to lower setting. there are also hysteresis options so you can prevent the brigtness going up and down all the time.

Thanx MuF123 for your answer!
This feature sounds great ... but I feel not ready to install CM7. All in all I am happy with my system right now. I learnded in the last two Android-years, that big changes for solving small problems can cause even more problems and time-intense problem solving actions... especially for me as a beginner.
So, does anybody know about a root-app or a module (eg. out of CM7) just for solving this auto brightness bug/feature ;-) ?
It would be very helpfull for me and others ...
this feature is in
Settings > CM Extra > Display > Automatic backlight > "Allow light decrease"
I wanted to tell you just so you can ask someone else about this exact feature, maybe the "CM Extra" can be installed as stand-alone app? Dunno, try to ask in CM7 thread.

Hi!
Unfortunately I am not allowed to post into the developement-forum...
Senior User 'MuF123' informed me, that CM7 has this feature, which I miss a lot (Settings > CM Extra > Display > Automatic backlight > "Allow light decrease").
My questions:
Can the app "CM Extra" be installed as stand-alone app in my rooted Milestone with Froyo 2.2.1?
Or is there another solution for me?
Not possible. Its integrated to the framework.

You mentioned an app "Auto Brightness" (SIMMO Publications) before. try to download that app after faking your network using "marketenabler" from market.
just my 2 cents
You can try the widgetsoid app from market.
Great idea!
Thanx. First I have to reanimate my milestone ... I killed it with deinstalling all Launchers ... stupidity pure

The app "Auto Brightness" (SIMMO Publications) is not in the market any more ...

[MOD] IncrediControl - Easy control of voltages and kernel settings!

Please read this post through thoroughly before downloading.
This app allows you to control your CPU voltages with an easy to use interface. You can increase or decrease voltages (undervolt or overvolt) for all frequencies or fine tune voltages for each individual frequency.
! HTC DEVICES, currently only single core devices are supported !
! ROOT is Required !
! Kernel that supports HAVS or SVS voltage adjustment REQUIRED !
In addition, if you are an Incredikernel user, the app may also be used to toggle Incredikernel specific features on and off, namely USB fast charging and audio boost.
Get it over at http://www.incredikernel.com
IncrediControl is now also available in the market:
IncrediControl
IncrediControl - Ad Free
Additionally, all donators are eligible to receive the Ad Free version. It doesn't matter how much or how little you donate or have donated. If you don't want to purchase the app from the market, you may donate using the button on this page. Please register on the site first and include your username in the comments box.
All previous donators, please register on the site if you have not done so and contact me with your username!
NOTE: The settings in the general tab are only functional in kernels that have implemented the simple sysfs interfaces for usb fast charging and audio boost. If you toggle them, its not going to break anything, but they won't work and the app may crash. If you would like your kernel dev to implement the interfaces, please direct them to these two commits:
https://github.com/Chad0989/android_kernel_common/commit/a7c21fa0391c225900f93960362535179c0cecc9
https://github.com/Chad0989/android_kernel_common/commit/41dc138bae23dc7582de72a4d9895aaa8e1f8b2d
NOTE2: It is a requirement of the HAVS adjustment that the kernel you are using has the HAVS sysfs interface implemented. If it does not, it will not work. Most non-stock gingerbread kernels have the HAVS adjustment. Very few sense kernels have the adjustment. I believe ziggy's latest is the only one that does.
NOTE3: Before using, please delete any boot scripts you may have in /etc/init.d that toggle any of the settings this app controls.
Get it at http://www.incredikernel.com
Restore script - use this if you went too low and find yourself in a boot loop. Flash through recovery:
http://www.incredikernel.com/?p=229
This excites me.

Hey Preview 2 has the HAVS, I think you should put the minus on the left of each number field. So that way it's like
- [voltage] +

I concur. And will this work on the incredikernel?
J/k on the the question part (because I know someone will take that seriously ). Great work, chad.
Chad, here's something to ponder or consider. Please think about putting in some way to back-up your settings. That way when flashing new roms you could just restore from back rather than settings all again. Just a thought.
Great thanks!
I know viperboy was working on something similar.
I have to say though your aggressive undervolt package is the tits. It is rock solid for me, and I can't lower anything -25v from there without crashing.

@everyone: Anyone try it on other devices that have havs + sysfs interface? Evo, desire?
effing sweet..... no more term emulator for me
Chad, I've noticed that after I reboot the phone and go back into the app, the boxes for "set on boot" are unticked.
Also I know you already know this but it's sort of a pain in the ass to set the SD card speed (your other app) after every boot, so if you could do a "set on boot" for that one too that'd be awesome.
Keep up the good work, I like how every time I check back here you have a bunch of updates
I've noticed after installing a new nightly with no wipes, the values revert to stock, even with set on boot.

The boxes are unticked on purpose, so that the file is only written when you specify that you want to set the current settings on boot. The other option is to have it ticked when the boot script is found, but then you would have to untick it when you want to just play with voltages (but not change your boot script) and then tick it again to set on boot. Would everyone prefer it that way?
I should also specify that when you tick set on boot, you also must click set in order to truly set it on boot. There is also the option to have it write the file when set on boot is ticked. I just need to know what everyone's preference is.
SDspeed might be added to a future release and would have the set on boot option.

That's because new nightlies overwrite the /system folder where the boot script is stored. I'll probably add a backup option too so you can load the defaults, either that or change over to storing the values in a database and loading them via the app on boot as opposed to the boot script.
Looks cool.
Backup database - yes!
Default set on boot once it's been ticked - yes!
Thanks for this, Chad!

CM7 latest Nightly
7/19/2011 - Preview 3:
Changes include:
Added +/- All Min and All Max buttons
Reordered the + and – buttons to flank the voltages to clean up the layout a bit.
Removed the title bar for more vertical screen space
Next up is feature checking / disabling of functions your kernel doesn’t support as well as voltage checking.

[Q] Disabling Multitasking and ...

Hey, how is it going.
lets get to the point right away.
Basically I Don't do multitasking more often and I'm more of a performance fan kinda person in other words f*** multitasking speed this Scheiße up a little bit for god sake.
So I have a couple questions for ya all today I'll be really grateful if you help me out and like my other posts everyone here will get a thank.
(I'm on about CM7)
1. how to disable multitasking or at least reduce the max number of active/running apps. (note!!! how to do that without home app being terminated)
2. how to tell the system not to terminate home app under any circumstances or just keep it in memory or cache it or dunno somehow don't touch it.
3. how to change the default values for settings of a ROM *
4. how to change the default values for settings of an app *
* => I'm gonna make a ROM, so basically I would like to change the default values to something else for example cpu freq or gov to my desire or changing the animation speed of the home app to something else in this case I'm on about launcherpro. so once I flash the ROM the settings are already set to what I wanted.
Note!!! I know some of that could be done through Cm dev app. but i'm thinking of some sort of script or build.prop lines or actually add these settings to cm settings which would be great.
Cheers!!!
I think spare parts has an option to set android's task manager to aggressive.
To lock the home app in memory, you can either,
Go to cyanogenmod settings>Performance >Lock home app in memory
Or you can put this line in build.prop: ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1

Cheers bro spare parts doesn't have that option and neither cyanogenmod settings or the home_app_adj=1 would work I was already aware of those but if you reduce the number of running apps to for example one or two once you open up one or two apps the home app will be terminated

All this can be done by editing the ramdisk folder in the kernel. (Except the app values ofc).!!
For no multitasking use dsixda kitchen. It has the option. Option 12 in the first advanced view if i ain't wrong. Other things you have to edit manually..

Flashing an app's data and dalvik cache to the appropiate address will keep its settings.
You can also try modifying the kernel's minfree values to force the closing of inactive apps in favor of more free ram.

[GUIDE] ROM setup after flash for better work

This is how I setup my rom after flash, and device is working very well with 52 installed apps
1. Configure settings
-Go to wifi and disable scanning always on
-Open mobile network and chose 2G (use 3G only when you need it)
-Go to more and then to mobile broadcasts and disable all (when it enabled, consume RAM)
-configure sound, display, and interface... As you want
-go to accounts and disable sync which you don't need.
-go to About and taping on blablabla, you know to enable Developer options and rom performance.
-Go to developer options set all animations(you have three) to 0.5
-Performance??
-you don't need it, I will show you in next step.
2. Flash this:
L Speed
Or make this manualy
2.1. Install&Configure TricksterMod
-For cpu freq the best is to set device default, like on stock rom, don't forget to press Lock freq.
-Minfree setup
-8mb
-12mb
-17mb
-25mb
-29mb
-33mb
-Syscontrol setup
-Set swappiness to 60
-Set vm.vfs_cache_pressure to 40
-vm.dirty_ratio = 90
-vm.dirty_background_ratio = 70
Set this from tricksterMOD
-CPU freq
The best is
-Min freq
320Mhz
-Max freq
1008mhz
-Scheduler
SIO
-Governor
SmartassV2 or SmartassH3
-GPU freq
-That is your choice min freq will increase battery life, but some laggs is possible, max freq will drain battery faster, but there is less possibility to have lag.
After all don't forget to set run on boot.
3.Install&Configure Greenify
-You already know Hibernate what you want expect Alarm clock, messaging apps, trickster mod, etc.
You already know if you hibernate app with push notifications, you don't get it.
4. Apps
-what about apps??
There is too much apps which user don't use, that apps use ram like other.
Now you need to delete everything what you don't use (live wallpapers, cm wallpapers, etc.) or change apps with some lightweigh, like gallery and keyboard. Download QuickPIC and google keyboard (lollipop themed) {{i will add link later }}
5.build.prop
-leave build.prop to default as much as possible.
-change DPI to device standard, in some reasons my device lag on 200, then I move back to 240 as default. This is for L7.
For L5, there is no line that define DPI, you can skip this step.
-Change ro.max.fling from 4000 to 8000 (don't add ro.min)
-Change vm.heapsize to 64m (I don't go under that, but difference is big from 128 to96 choose between 96 or 64
-Change lowRAM from false to true (you will get little more free RAM).
When you change it to true, you will lose transparent statusbar.
6.init.d
-keep device without any special tweaks, devs which make this rom, they choose the best.
Helpful tips:
-Don't use battery boosters, ram boosters and apps call like that. System do better than one app. There is low memory killer (lmk).
Also this app use ram which you maybe need for something.

How do I use it?
Allow root access, choose what you want, reboot, and then forget about it
How does it work?
This app uses SQLite commands to override some flags related to Android Auto into the Google Play Services.
Google Play Services control a lot of features inside Android Auto. Some of them are core functionality of Android Auto, some of them are upcoming feature that are simply not yet released.
What this app does is making some SQLite queries in order to alter some features of Android Auto. It contains the trick inside AA Phenotype Patcher to patch custom apps in order to work in AA (and the same script is contained) and with the same principle it unlocks some other things in Android Auto.
Available commands (as of version 1.5):
Patch for custom Android Auto apps
Disable speed restrictions while driving (preview of messages will be shown always)
Disable six tap limit (the banner asking to pay attention to road will not be shown anymore)
Enable Assistant Shortcuts (you can learn more here: https://www.xda-developers.com/andr...llpaper-and-tests-google-assistant-shortcuts/)
Enable assistant animation in navbar
Disable launch of Navigator app at start
Disable red outline on battery icon when Battery Saver is active
Enable force Widescreen (or force disable it)
Force statusbar to be black opaque
Disable battery saver warning
Enable MultiDisplay
Set notification duration from 0ms to 20 seconds
Set media notification duration (on the bar) to up to 15 minutes
(BETA) Disable Bluetooth auto connect
Hopefully more to come
How is this different from AA Phenotype Patcher?
It just contains more features, the project is actually a fork of AA Phenotype Patcher, and share a lot of core functionality under the hood.
Can I use this app instead of AA Phenotype Patcher?
Yes you can, but if you have already patched apps with AA Phenotype Patcher, you can leave it like that and simply apply the other tweaks. This app won't check if the apps are already patched via AA Phenotype Patcher, so you won't have a green check status at the start.
How is this different from Sensible Android Auto: Xposed?
This app doesn't need Xposed, which in some cases is one more pain to have. Also, it should survive Android Auto updates (unless the flag are changed) without any user modification.
Can I use this app instead of Sensible Android Auto: Xposed?
Yes, you can. The functionaility is the same, the only "advantage" is not having to install Xposed to make it work. This app won't check if you have SAAX installed so you won't have a green check status at the start. If you are familiar with SAAX and you want to keep it, you may not want to disable speed limitation and six tap with this app.
Can the app be translated in my language?
Translations are open! If you feel like you may be able to translate the app in your language, join translations on Crowdin so that the app will be translated in your language, or simply wait for someone else that will translate the app.

AA Phenotype Patcher by @Eselter
CURRENT VERSION: 2.2
NEW: App is now translated in Polish
UPDATED: Slovenian and Russian translations
NEW: The layout has been completely revised and now tweaks are all in one page and the other page will have logs
OLDER VERSIONS:
Version 2.1 Changelog:
NEW: App is now translated in Vietnamese, Catalan and Korean
NEW: Wallpaper tweak! This tweak will activate the new wallpaper feature coming up in Android Auto.
WARNING: If you are a user of Wallpapers For Android Auto. this tweak will break it unless you don't download version 3.0 that came out today.
FIXED: Potential bug that did not fully reverted custom app patch of AA Phenotype Patcher. If you have issues with Custom App patch and you were a user of AA Phenotype Patcher, please de-activate and activate the tweak again.
NEW: BETA Tweak to revert independent night mode recently introduced
NEW: BETA Tweak to disable telemetry and logging crap that Google does with Android Auto
UPDATED: bluetooth tweak is out of BETA state
Version 2.0 Changelog:
NEW: Enjoy a brand new UI, with new animations and a completely revised look
NEW: Translations! The app has been fully translated in Italian, Czech, Dutch, German, Russian, Slovak, Slovenian and Spanish and it's partially translated in Brazilian Porugues, Turkish and French
If you wanna take part of translations in your native language, join translation project on Crowdin https://crowdin.com/project/aa-aio-tweaker
It's super easy to use and you could take part of translating AA AIO TWEAKER in your own language!
NEW: menu in upper toolbar will now show version of the app
ENHANCED: Fermata Auto will now be on the upper part of the list if installed
ENHANCED: Fixed some occasional bugs with patch custom app tweak
ENHANCED: seekbar for the durations of notifications have now more margin to have a better handling
Version 1.6 Changelog:
ENHANCED: Treshold of "force no widescreen" tweak is now higher. This should help on very high-res screens, as it was not working properly in some rare cases
FIXED: Bug that made "Force no widescreen" tweak not work properly
FIXED: Bug that named a trigger in database wrongly when applying force no widescreen mode. Applying the tweak now should now make sure that the app detects correclty if the tweak is applied or not
FIXED: Some tutorials were very difficult to read because of size of windows. Now fixed.
ENHANCED: "Disable navigation at start" logic has been tweaked to make sure the main database doesn't build the flags that make navigation open at start. Hopefully this will increase the ratio of Android Auto not starting navigation at first.
Please re-apply "Disable navigation at start" and report back to me if it fails sometimes (or maybe always) at making AA start in launcher.
ENHANCED: Text on top of the app will now hint for long press for tutorial
Version 1.5 Changelog:
NEW: Massive cleanup of code and optimized the SQL scripts to apply the tweaks. The scripts now respect the table schema of the database and errors in console regarding constraints are now solved. I would actually suggest first to revert all the tweaks (with the dedicated option on the top menu) to have a clean base, especially if you run into trouble with AA AIO Tweaker.
NEW: App now has integrated tutorials! Just long tap on one of the buttons to find out what a tweak does!
NEW: Multidisplay tweak. I'll let the tutorial explain it, it's very cool!
NEW: Tweak to disable battery saver warning when using Android Auto
ENHANCED: The logic to revert the tweaks has been revised and now the method should not fail in reverting the tweaks
ENHANCED: The app won't clear anymore the log view on the bottom when applying more than one tweak. This will help me diagnosing bugs happening on a session.
FIXED: A bug that reverted the wrong tweak when disabling force widescreen/no widescreen
FIXED: Bluetooth tweak has been revised and should now be correctly applied
Version 1.4 Changelog:
NEW: Disable bluetooth auto connect (BETA). This tweak should prevent the phone auto connecting to car's bluetooth when plugged in. This tweak is in BETA and could not work at all. Please report back if this works!
FIXED: Bug resulting in a dialog asking to revert every tweak after the "about" dialog
FIXED: Bug resulting in force widescreen/no widescreen tweaks not being recognized as applied after successfully applying them
FIXED: Revert of force widescreen/no widescreen should now work as expected
ENHANCED: Enabling force widescreen/no widescreen when force no widescreen/widescreen is already applied will result in a toast warning the user that the other of the two tweaks is being automatically revert (it wouldn't make sense to have both of them active)
ENHANCED: About dialog will contain more infos about the app
Version 1.3 Changelog:
NEW: Make sure the fragment holding the button is scrollable. This will help using the app on phones with very high density of screen (bigger dimensions)
CHANGED: Revisited some texts on the buttons
FIXED: An error with the tweak for increasing "media notification duration" overriding the tweak for "notification duration". Please reset to default both the media notification and message notification duration and set them again as desired, in case you applied the "media notification" tweak before.
FIXED: Option to revert everything not having influence on patched apps tweak
FIXED: A potential issue with the patch app trigger not being named correctly
FIXED: Button for Assistant animation not being responsive after applying the tweak
FIXED: Corrected the loading of the status of apps patch tweak when launching app
NEW: Media notification duration: to tweak duration of the media notification in the navbar (you can tweak the navbar to show the track title, artist and album art up to 15 minutes)

NEW: tweak to enable "Force status bar opaque"
FIXED: a bug in reverting the speed limitation tweak
Vesion 1.0
Initial release
Seems like nice new app for android auto users. Thanks for your contribution, I will try it in car in near future
Patchable apps?
:good: This thing is really cool, thank you so much! :good:
Can someone tell me if I can add such apps like Racechrono, Track Addict, etc. to the allowed (patched) apps?
Since I have an unrooted pixel 2, and I wouldn't like to root it if pointless.

The patch app function will allow android auto-compatible apps to be shown on Android Auto. Whether it is a sideloaded music app, and for some reason you don't want to enable unknown sources in developer settings, or whether it's an app that uses the custom SDK (such as: Screen2Auto, Fermata Auto, CarStream etc.) this app has got you covered.
If the app you'd like to patch has no support to Android Auto, this tweaker won't help you gaining it.

Sorry for this. The fixed APK has been uploaded to the same download location. You might want to install it over the actual one.
Can I get some clarification, what does "patching" of Apps do? so I want app like Teams and Outlook to show up on the AA Screen but they don't when I select and patch them
Have I misunderstood this app

==========
allow android auto-compatible apps to be shown on Android Auto - How can u tell if it's auto compatible, I mean the ones which are supported anyways wont need to be patched since we can simply use them. My query was if its possible to put ANY app of choice on AA

As said previously, there are certain sideloaded apps that don't come from the Play Store and they are disallowed by Google, and you cannot semply use them. The one I quoted, alongside others like OBD2AA, Widgets For Auto, AAStream, AAMirror, Performance Monitor etc. are specifically designed for Android Auto with a custom SDK.

No, it's not possible.
Hi. Could it be added to the functions, a bluetooth connection lock?
I use two cell phones, one fixed connected without having a sim card. and the other I want to have connected only by bluetooth to use hands-free.
I do not know if it is android auto or my head unit, but when I connect the cell phone by cable if or if I have to connect the bluetooth.
It would be a good function for those of us who use two cell phones.
Thank you
Alexander

For start, is your J730F rooted?
Yes, rooted... it currently runs Android 10, 32 bit, Sams Rom.
At now, I use Phenotype Patcher flawlessly, so I'm a bit curious...
