Shows the title graphic, but not the login or option selections. Pretty much just a blank screen. Anyone have any tricks? I'd rather not use Opera or Dolphin just for one site.
Looks like it's flash based so you would have better luck with a 1.5 hero rom.
Why would a mobile web page be flash based? You couldn't view it on the majority of platforms...lame.
I have no idea why it's not working but that's NOT flash based.
Try the main page instead of the mobile site (source of my confusion). They used java on the mobile site, it could have something to do with it.

I have exactly the same issue on my MT3G though at one point it worked. Much better than the regular site as it is optimized for a mobile browser.
Were you using adfree? It's the only thing I can think of...Doesn't work on OpenEclair or new CM4.2.15 either.
Wife just got a droid and it works fine. Strange that it didn't work on an Eclair ROM for me if it works on the droid...
Guess I'm the only one who cares, but FYI, if you use the Steel browser, you can set the user agent to iPhone and it will work. Set it back to Android and no go again.

What have your experiences been using facebook on the diamond/Opera9? For me (on a T Mobile connection) it kind of works but kind of doesnt.
It renders the pages fine, but I find I have to log in multiple times and I cannot accept friend requests or view larger pictures from thumbnails.
Theres no excuse in the world as to why Facebook should work better with an iPhone. Especially considering how Facebook was one of the pre installed favourites on the stock Diamond ROM.
iPhones use iphone.facebook.com which is like a compromise between m.facebook.com (the really cut down mobile version) and the full site.
But yes, I would like the normal facebook page to work properly.

What have your experiences with facebook on Opera been like?

well after a soft reset i have an issue when i log into facebook using my orange (HSDPA) connection, it loads it all wrong in a very very basic form bit like mobile version, but if i go to facebook via wi-fi it loads fine, AND also then loads fine via HSDPA until i do a soft reset again... i was assuming this was an issue with my Orange provider TBH which seems to be fixed after i load the full page once via wi-fi....

well it works 100% perfect once i have loaded it once via WiFi, however if i dont do that and load via hsdpa first time after SR the format of the page is all messed up and makes it almost impossible to navigate the page, but it does display full pictures even in that messed up mode yes.
You can just use the iphone version...
It works just fine if you rotate the screen

Ok so I guess I didn't test it enough
Anyway, it is a shame that all major websites seem to have their iphone version but couldn't care less about the rest of us.
Would it be so hard to have "advanced mobile" versions that everyone could use?

This is what I dont understand - as the Diamond as a higher quality, higher resolution screen to the iphone. Its as if no one makes an effort with windows mobile anymore, yet will go out of their way to accomodate the iphone
I have a Diamond on T-Mobile Uk and mine loads facebook just fine using Opera! not sure why you're having issues.

Try and go into a picture and view it full screen. Do you get a clear full screen picture?
Also try and send messages via facebook or make/respond to friend requests. Does this work?
I am aware Opera renders the page perfectly, but Facebook doesnt seem to function well at all.
i keep looking at the iphone facebook and the windows mobile facebook, and by far the iphone facebook is nice! **** don't get me wrong i love my HTC touch pro and my windows phone but **** they could have done a better job then that!! post if u agree. and hopefully in the future they can come up with a better update...

A push button on Opera works great
The new Opera 9.7 works great for facebook. Forgetting having an "app" for it why not just get the real thing ;-)
I agree. . the website is much better. I really hate the facebook app.
Facebook IM Program
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=480365&highlight=facebook
and the official facebook windows mobile ap
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489379&highlight=facebook
I dont even bother with checking via opera I just use these
I have to agree, the app doesnt allow one to view a lot of things and you cant make changes easily either. It does suck, always use opera. The app probably burns more battery and memory too...
yes the facebook application is really crap. It would give you notifications about comments but then won't allow you to read them! The only good thing about it is the phone book and the ability to tag photos. I don't think you can do this with the mobile version of facebook.
Although I must say that I cannot use my normal Opera browser for mobile facebook (m.facebook.com), when i type in text boxes or whatever, the text appears in one of those symbol fonts but when i submit it, appears in english. So I have to use Beta version of Opera where the scroll zoom thing doesn't work. Weird....
the app is crap you shouldnt have to refresh all the time and when you do it takes for Fing ever
if the mobile page loads up quick why cant it pull info from there it astounds me
plus you can use iris brower and go to the iphone page plenty of better options
I've used both the iPhone and WM FB app and both have issues. You have to constantly refresh even with the iPhone version as well. They're identical for all intents and purposes but really...just use the website.
I gave up on the facebook app a while back. I'm happy with using the Iris web browser.
i dont think its that bad. its great for quick stuff though you keep having to hit the refresh softkey. the only thing i think its missing from the iphone version is chat which someone else on here wrote a program called facebook im that will do that for you. its not going to compare to a full website though.
why isnt there a myspace app for windows mobile??
Iris Browser
I like the Iris Browser as well.

u can use the phonebook from the m.facebook.com in opera mobile
and i think possibly on iphone.facebook.com from opera mini
There's no comparison: the iPhone Facebook app kicks the face off Microsoft's pathetic effort. I'm so disappointed that Facebook options are so limited. I do not think the full Facebook is as convenient as an App, having used the Facebook app for iPhone for a long time: perhaps you have to have used it to fully appreciate how much more convenient a well-built app is to using a mobile browser.

I've run into this on several sites on both the Tab and my Dinc. What I do is zoom in or out just the smallest bit, and then I can scroll all over the place without issue.
I have this issue a lot with Outlook webmail, CNN, Forbes, my local TV stations and New Egg. I do NOT have this problem on ebay, Fox, and youtube. Very strange.

Thanks. I'll give that a try and post back.

It's kind of funny (in an ironic way) that that's a Google site (Google ==> Android) ...
I also tried default, Dolphin, Miren and Xscope. Same on all of them. I thought that Xscope had the best chance of working, because the developer says that Dolphin and Miren are based on default (Webkit, I think), but no luck there.
What is "Dinc" and "Sky Raider Athena"?

Droid Incredible running the Sky Raider Athena ROM. I also tried the OMGB ROM and the age scrolled ok. So I'm not sure why the G Tab won't scroll right.
But yeah...it is funny that its an android site causing problems.

Was that ROM Froyo/2.2? Maybe that's the difference? I kind of think that those pages have a log of Javascript and stuff like DHTML, so maybe the engine that is handling either of those in Froyo is messing up?

Webpage scrolling issue solved(at least in my case)
I know this reply is to an old post, but I recently found a solution to this issue, as I was experiencing the same problem with multiple browsers. Many webpages simply would not scroll without zooming in & out or rotating my phone(Droid 4). The problem in my case was solved by Unchecking/Disabling the "Auto-Fit Webpages" option. This has worked for me using the default browser in Android 4.04 and Dolphin browser as well. I do not see this option in firefox, but firefox seems to not have this issue as predominately as other browsers. Hope this post helps someone!
it works great!! super fast
download: www.opera.com/mobile/download/versions/
choose Opera Mobile 11 -- android 1.6+
It is fast and damn smooth on sites like xda. Couldn't find how to turn flash on though. Like the "quick dial" bookmarks. Thanks for the heads up on this.
Flash is working for me on cnn.com
flash
flash is working on me sites like teamcoco.com CNN.com etc! 10.2 version
tip: turn off status bar for full screen view!
I've been using x -scope until now. using opera now
liking it alot.
feels faster.

I tried this one last night and couldn't keep it because I just couldn't scroll with it, even after a calibration fix (on tnt lite 4.2.5) so I'm back to using dolphin.
I tried firefox as well and I liked it at first, but I started missing little things from dolphin like the new long press feature, so I went back again.

Dolphin HD and mini feel choppy compared to Opera. HD can't paste in text boxes, and is quite ugly. Mini can't select text. HD has best text selection.
Never tried firefox cause I can't see it in the market.
Opera has some slight rendering issues on some web sites, but not enough to break them. It looks very good too.
So far, I like Opera best.
I'm struggling to get FarmVille2 working on the new Nexus 7 i bought for my good lady
Am i right in thinking that FB is detecting the device type as 'Tablet' and this is why it is forcing load of the FarmVille Express version, rather than the full game ?
If so, is there an easy way to change the device type to 'PC' or whatever to make it work ?
I remember that in order to get BBC iPlayer working on the HD2, it was a similar scenario, but involved an easy reg change, but guess this is different
Any help please ?
Many thanks

In browser, I presume?
In Chrome, you can click menu, then 'request desktop site'
In Firefox, you can download an addon 'Phoney' (I think this is what it's called), and set it to desktop.
I really don't know about other browsers.

I guess it will have to be FF Beta then ?
OK, update;
Can't get this working with FF Beta, Dolphin 8.5.1 nor Opera (Using Flash 11.1)
The closest i get is the game starts loading (with sound playing) but gets stuck at about half way. This is using FireFox Beta
Does anyone know of a definite way to get FV2 working on the N7, or have any other suggestion ? Perhaps a different browser/version of Flash ?
Many thanks

HTML STANDARDS cross platform compatility ISSUE
I think this is a similar issue as with Pogo games... My Better half would Love to play her Pogo games on her Android tablet.. I have tried nearly everything.. Even went thru talking to them on the pogo forums.. The bottom line is They do NOT SUPPORT the Android Flash/JAVA run time players.. Check some other flash game sites made for windows machines. You will see the same issue. This is one of the reasons there needs to be a HTML Standard for VIDEO/Animation on the net..
I would say your best best at this point is to go to Facebook support and see if there is any documentation about this. There could be a solution now.Its been many months since i tried doing exactly what you want. There was no solution at that time and no work being done to make it happen in sight..
My thoughts are until there is a True HTML Standard that all browsers and browser content MUST Comply with . We will have this type of issues. HTML 5 And then now 6 is supposed to be the issue.. People keep holding on to what they are using now. They do this to save dev. dollars. Until all back word compatibility in browsers are broken there will be NO True standard for cross platform games in a browser environment.
If you do find a solution Please let us all know..
Good Luck
Erica Renee ..
