Is there any way to set the lockscreen timeout to longer than 3 seconds? Also with the message indicator on the lockscreen can you customize it to says who it's from rather than "New Message"?
Thanks,
Jim

For the messaging question, try opening the messaging app, go into settings and see if there's a checkbox for "Preview Message". I know that I had to turn this feature on on the S4. Not getting my S5 until this weekend though, so hopefully that that's still there. The lockscreen should be under your device settings somewhere I'd imagine. But again, I don't have my S5 yet, just speculating where it would be.

The message thing worked. Couldn't find anything about the lockscreen yet though. Thanks.
If you have smart stay turned on, the lock screen will stay lit as long as you are looking at it.

Hi,
since kitkat (4.4.x) there is a notification for upcoming alarms 2 hours before the alarm time (a second alarm clock sign on the left top of screen)
I dont need this notification at all and its annoyin because this alarm sign looks almost like e.g. a whatsapp notification.
Is there a way to permanently disable this feature?
thx
nobody else annoyed or has an idea?
No way mate. I don't understand why there's not a xposed mod yet to remove that:laugh: Make your request here, maybe some dev is interested

Yes, I dislike it too. I searched everywhere for a way to disable it, but I never found a solution...

Hi,
Although many users found this new KitKat feature useful, I found it annoying: I don't need to have an Upcoming Alarm Notification to remind me that there's going to be a real alarm in the future. Fyi, I'm running CM11 20141124 Snapshot on a Galaxy S4. Here's the fix:
Next time you get one of these Notifications, go into Notifications and long press on the Upcoming Alarm entry (note that the long press might have been on "Dismiss now"). You will then get a prompt to disable notifications for this type of notification.
I'll appreciate if you will please reply with the exact long press location.
Also - If someone knows how/where this can be toggled back on, I would appreciate that info.
Regards . . .
BretAB
P.S. As noted elsewhere on the web, if you don't want to see the little alarm clock icon the you see on the right side of the Status Bar (recall that I'm running CM11 20141124), go into Clock, click on the hamburger that's on the lower right hand side, choose Settings, and disable Show Icon. This seems to override the "Show Notifications" that is enabled by default in Apps | All | Clock | "Show notifications" checkbox (or maybe that "Show notifications" checkbox at this location is for something else?) .
Hi and welcome to the board,
I'm a little confused with ur post. See my questions below the quotes of ur post here:

first of all, to understand ur post: is this a quote from somewhere else?
Second: disabling the notifications in the app settings works BUT it also disables the way to snooze or stop the alarm from lockscreen - so, not very helpfull/usefull?!
I'll appreciate if you will please reply with the exact long press location.

so thats actually the question of u?
answer: there are two ways to get there:
1)
unlock ur phone, (an alarm in the next 2 hours must be active) scroll down notification bar (wiping from top of phone to bottom) and long press on the alarm notification and choose "App-Details" in upcoming popup
2)
unlock ur phone, open the settings (the generall android settings), go to "apps", than the overview for "all apps", there should be "clock" or "deskclock" for me its "Uhr"
there u can disable amd enable it
so its also the answer to ur next question, i guess?! (see below)
Also - If someone knows how/where this can be toggled back on, I would appreciate that info.

It is 2017 now and the annoyance continues!
Hello. I can't really remember whether there was that kind of future or not. I'm looking for something that turns on the display when I get a message. Like snapchat do. You get a message > screen turns on > shows lockscreen with a notification. So the question is - can I turn on this kind of future on regular messages app?

Glimpse Notifications

That will be 3.50$
Hi there, guys!
This is my first week using my new Note 5 and something pretty simple is bothering me so much. By the way, I already saw some topics over the Internet talking about this on S6, but no solution was discovered.
As title says, the heads up notifications practically never is shown. So only the app icon appears in the notification bar, together with the notification sound, but the heads up don't. It's really rare to it appear and let me decide to use it's shortcuts or dismiss it.
Is this a known TouchWiz issue? Any workaround?
I'm running stock 6.0.1 with no root. Never did this. Also, tried to disable themes, but no solution. Even setting some apps to priority didn't have any effect. And there's no pop-up notifications restrictions under settings.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Hello, I installed the last Global ROM (11.3.3). I have a problem with notification: there's the same bug as all Xiaomi devices with notch: the notification doesn't appear near the clock.
Moreover, WhatsApp notification doesn't appear in the lockscreen (even if I selected to show the notifications in the app settings). This fact, anyway, does not show if I remove the lockscreen PIN.
There's a fix for these two problems?
I cant post screenshots as a new user..
Anyways, Settings/Display/Notch&Status Bar/ and hit the "enable icons" which is disabled.
Hope this helps.

Thank you! It restored the notification in the notification area. But I'd like also to know how to show the notifications in the lockscreen. The problem seems to be only with whatsapp, as Facebook's and Instagram's (for example) notifications are shown there.
I am trying but I can't find it right now.
What I can say is, I did have working notifications at some point but it allowed anyone to see the content of my Whatsapp messages and even reply to them without unlocking the phone so I turned them off somehow (was probably Special Settings/Quick replies)
Going to look further, the Notifications in Settings don't do anything. It could have something to do with me blocking the Internet on most Xiaomi apps but I sure hope that's not the case.
Edit: found something interesting in settings/apps/other settings. Selected messages and at thr bottom there is a setting to show notifications and guess what. it only has a single option related to the lock screen "don't show notifications at all" so it cannot be changed.
woah this miui is a mess
edit: I went ahead and debloated the phone from most of the Xiaomi apps. I have no access no notifications settings anymore but it didn't fix the problem
edit2: softlocked my phone and had to wipe everything. Notifications are back on stock lol
FIXED IT! woohoo!
After many, many hours of messing with my phone .. here's what you have to do:
Settings-Passwords & security - Privacy - Special app access - Battery optimisation
Here, click the blue bar and select "All apps"
Now scroll down until you find "Notifications" and open it.
Select "Don't optimise"
Holy mother of god NOW THAT'S A MAZE IF I HAVEN'T SEEN ONE!
sorry about the double post but wtf Miui
Edit: it breaks after the first notification. Then I reboot the phone and again it works for the first notification uhm yeah I give up. So I put it in Optimisation mode again, along with Always On and settings storage (had disabled them earlier) and now notifications pop on my lock screen but only new notifications!
Once I've unlocked the phone, the lock screen is empty until something new comes. However my Apple Music app now shows on lock screen as well with the typical controls for switching songs.

Thanks man!! I'll give a try! I've also discovered that notification were blocked, on lockscreen, for some contacts (the ones I wanted to be shown). I definitely agree with you that MIUI is a mess... My last phone was an OnePlus 6T, now I own a Mi 9T Pro. The hardware is amazing, but the software is a crap compared to the OxygenOS.
