HTC G1 MMS not working - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

cant get my MMS on my HTC G1 working :S
it keeps telling me it cant be sent.
i got the Swedish provider Telenor and it got 2 diffrent APNs, one for data and one for MMS.
suggestions how i get it to work?
im running newest version of CyanogenMod

There is no such thing as a HTC G1, it's HTC Dream and G1 is the name providers give it. You should be using the default APN settings for your phone company.

sorry for that but most people know what i mean by that
yea im doing that, and it still dont work
i saw somewhere that ROMs tend to mess up if i got 2 APN, one for mms one for internet.

Does this happen on all roms?

tried 2 roms, same result.

I'm guessing its your service package
if you can login to your account online, do so and check what packages/plans you have.
you may find MMS is not turned on, you may have to pay extra for it, but probably not
if you can't logon , ring them up
BUT do not mention anything about rooting your phone..
I know you think its a problem with ROMS, but I'm 99% confident its the service options you have with Telenor

Sorry but you are wrong Sweden doesnt got something like that, when you get a subscription or prepaid you get MMS automatically, no need to activate and such.

tell you what, put your sim in a non rooted phone, see if you can do MMS

it works just fine in my N95 and my iphone.

no more suggestions? :S

This is probably not a viable solution, but if you make the MMS APN the only and main APN, then MMS will work. However, you will also lose the Internet connection, unless your provider let you access the Internet through the MMS APN as well (and even so, beware if there are additional charges).
I have this problem as well and have yet to find an everyday solution.
Cheers.

get a new rom

i tried 2 diffrent roms :S
CynagenMOD and the Eclair, none of them worked.
dont know any othter rom thats good :S those two seems best.

Not sure if it's related but it seems to work after I flashed the latest radio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640535).
Give it a try if you have a G1.

Ooops... Turn out it only works when Wifi is on (and data APN is inactive)... When Wifi is off, MMS doesn't work as well...

I've got an unlocked 8125 with a blue sim. Will these settings/files work for me, too? (I don't think they will, but I thought I'd ask, to be sure.)
Thanks,

Skyfire "lost connection" fix!!!

alright, I figured out how to fix my skyfire "lost connection" error.
well the reason it does this is because it tries to connect via ISP GPRS, but everyone uses media net
to fix this all you do is go to
start-settings-connections-connections-advanced-select neword have isp selected and hit next
then when it says "isp.cingular" put "wap.cingular"
hit next, for domin name make sure it is blank.
make sure password is blank. hit finish and you are done!!
note... this solution only works for att.
thanks.
So I did what you said and deleted the password from the settings and now it pops up and asks for the password...what is it?
the password is the same as other connections, CINGULAR1 or something like that
Thanks kicker! Worked like a charm.

What effect does this have on other internet connections on the device, such as PIE and/or Opera Mini, or weather updates, etc.?
Good tip. Worked great. I can't believe I've been fooling around with all the different youtube solutions for months and skyfire works "right out of the box" for all sorts of videos..
hi ,i tried what u recomended on my tytn 2 but i dont think the steps are the same in ppc ,maybe because i have wm6 can u repeate the steps anyways.
thanks

There is a little difference if you have a TYTN II with the HTC ROM.... What you do is as follows:
SETTINGS-CONNECTIONS-CONNECTIONS-MANAGE EXISTING CONNECTIONS(under "MY ISP")-MAKE SURE 'MY ISP GPRS' IS CHOSEN and then click on EDIT-NEXT-change 'isp.cingular' to 'wap.cingular'-NEXT-erase the domain and password and-FINISH!

T-Mobile UK settings

Hello People...
I have a new HTC Touch Diamond which is a Orange UK device....
I am a T-Mob UK customer on W'n'W and was wondering if anyone has the settings that I need to enter?
Also for MMS messages?
Appreciate any help...
Thanks
AJ
It should detect and download the settings automatically. If not, here is what I have on mine.
T-Mobile Internet
Cellular Line (GPRS,3G)
Access Point: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: T-mobile
Password: password
MMS:
Gateway: 149.254.201.135
Port: 8080
Server Address: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
I too am on T-Mobile WnW.
If I update the ROM to Vodafones latest release (1.93), will it auto configure then too or will Voda have taken that functionality out and hard coded their own settings?
Once you manage to unlock your device and insert the T-mobile SIM the Software in the device should auto configure for the correct SIM card
or I could post a useful PC program for auto configuration of all UK network settings.
(updated post with program to follow) - see single post for file
unlocked???
i take it you have done this
Fantastic,
Ill wait till unlocked then I can test this out.
Thanks all...
program sounds awesome if inserting the sim doesnt work...

not sure if this will work for NON t-mobile devices? But on T-Mobile's website you simply enter your mobile no. they will send you a msg with all the config

Its not dependant on the device but on the number. If its a valid T-mob number you can get settings sent

Fido network connection Help

I'm extremely confused about setting up the ISP and MMS on my Tilt with Fido- I have all their information but i still dont receive MMSs also the connection wizard doesn't have fido as an option. Can anyone help out or direct me to a thread with more information (i did a search in here)
Hi there....
I use a carrier other than AT&T on my tilt as well.. I got MMS to work, but it took a little tinkering.. I am assuming you already have the "regular" internet working... Assuming you do, this is what I did..
Delete every AT&T internet setting you can find.. lol.... Then in the TXT messaging screen, hit MENU, then MMS Options, Then goto the SERVERS tab.. delete anything that is already in there... set up a new one.. on mine I just needed the web address ( mine was 192.168.254.251 ) Port 9201 ... and then HTTP://www.einsteinmms.com/+1XXXXXXXXXX (X's are my phone # ) and I left everything else blank.. and it worked... I would get the simmilar settings for your carrier and try... I am usign the stock WM 6.0 rom (Don't laugh... It is customized with all the software I like and works perfect for what I need it to do).. LEt me know if this helps..
