HTC Sense for HTC Magic...

Hi all,
i saw this in Engadet and wondering if this HTC Sense for Magic is able to change to G1 coz as far as i know, Magic and G1 are practically the same except for the cpu.....
they share the same bluetooth hardware and LEDs.....

There are at least 2 HTC sense roms out that are ported from the magic .

more like they're practically diff EXCEPT for the CPU, BT hardware and LEDs
EDIT: not BT hardware... got confused with OP

Guys, it was released for the Magic 32A board. . . Magic also has 32B boards (which are the ones similar to the G1).

but im sure that there is a way to fix it.....

Doesn't share bluetooth. The maddening lack of a complete Sense UI continues indefinately...

There is. . . buy a Hero or a Magic 32A. The Hero on the G1 has always been slightly bugged, no matter how good it seems to run at first load. It all comes down to the G1 having 30+% less ram than the other devices. Apps2SD additionally seem to slow things down (which would explain the difference with how it runs between a G1 with 256 megs of ROM and a Magic 32B with 512 megs of ROM). To put it simple, unless somebody became the all powerful god of optimization and compression, it'll never run 100% flawless with 100% of the speed it should have. Hell, on devices it's meant for it still has the occasional challenges.
And ps to any mods out there, could we get this moved to the Q&A section?

nope,there's no rom ported from magic except myhero,but it's for 32a
now,every "magic rom 4 g1" is based off 3.03.707.3 test-keys, not real official 3.03.751.4 releas-keys.and some bad guy only change bulid.prop to .4..this's real a f*k phony way...

The tattoo's screen size is too small to be ported perfectly to the 32b devices here.
Get a tattoo if you love sense

dude EUGENE already ported this over to G1'S and MT3G's... but because of the screen differences, it is encridibly small on our phones. everying works, there is just size issues.

yeah about that 2.1, you reckon it'll have those all-too-long-awaited-for video drivers?
I mean it's comming out for the hero, question is will it be portable to mt3g\g1.

Sense 2.x on G1's and Magic's will always lack something. For me, it lacks speed. That's why I wanna buy a HTC Hero because I will have Sense and a fast speed and I can go to 2.1 Android which will also be fast.

Funds I would be selling my MyTouch3G for a Legend/Desire when it comes out anyway so I will get more when I eventually sell my Hero.

Just thought you guys would like this. I know I would have when I was using my vogue. The htc wildfire is a qvga phone with sense running on android 2.1. Would be a nice rom to port over and since it's basically a qvga hero running the same processor it shouldn't be that hard.

That thing has more ram then my Kaiser has rom. I feel sad.
What I'd like to see is a 2.1 with working camera and bluetooth.

Legend gets 2.2 FroYo - whats this mean for us Hero users?

I saw an article that the Legend has received the 2.2 FroYo. Whats this mean for us Hero users? Im not a dev by any means but I imagine we're so much closer to a full on 2.2, sense and all...again, Im not a dev and really dont know much about cooking, roms that is, but this seems good.

Legend is even more similar haha Legend should be the best port we can get, unless the Gratia is even more simliar.

Yeah but the gratia is more different than the Hero. The legend is basically a remade Hero with a 600mhz processor in it. This will definitely mean something
Also this helps bridge the gap closer to our own fully functioning 2.2w/sense rom. If this rom helps us fix bluetooth, gps, and camera issues, it's all downhill from there, and we will finally have our own 2.2

now THIS is exciting! I was under the impression that this is the ROM that the devs were waiting for.

I thought we were running AOSP 2.2 because Sense BOGGS down our Hero's. Maybe the kernel with be worth it

We might be able to port the new kernel from it, most likely.
The Legend is the phone most common phone with ours if I'm not correct.

Legend is MSM7227 while we're MSM7600... we'll see when the kernel source is released.

without googling, pretty sure the gsm hero has it... i could be wrong. kinda hope i am. i love the legend. id take a cdma legend and be happy until cdma2 or whatever...a very long time.
please sprint, htc gimme a cdma legend(cause the read xda all the time)

Because Sprint doesn't care about supporting the Hero anymore. They want you to upgrade to a newer phone/lock yourself into another 2 year.

[Q] Idea for a sense rom...

So i was thinking the other night (i don't do that often ), why don't we simply port the latest official gingerbread with 2.3 with htc sense 3.0 for the bravo/desire? It is found at developer.htc.com. Because it is made to fit the 250 mb system from desire, we could also fit it, even if it gets bigger (300-330mb) because we have blackrose. We should be able to run it at equal speed right. We already have a good gingerbread sense kernel (thanks dbasabe). Who is wanting to port this?

There is no Sense 3.0 for Bravo. Only Sense 1.9, AFAIK.

the desire doesnt have sense 3.0 you should port it from the desire S

I fail to see the need of porting an old firmware. Today, most people are focusing on ICS and MIUI. Sense 3.5 isn't really officially on many devices, and future HTC phones will most certainly have ICS mixed with HTC Sense 3.5.
Maybe that's what one could focus on instead?

Lagging beyond usability? What have you been smoking?
When I ran Sebastiaan15's Runny AIO (ported by dbasabe), I didn't notice any lag that would prevent me from using it. The speed is determined by the class of your sd-card if the ROM installes partially to an ext partition.
Class 6 or better is generally recommended.

Class 8 8GB Sandisk sdhc here... Try turning on livewallpapers, add some widgets, multitask and it will crash and reboot....

I never use live wallpapers in any ROM as it's such a battery hog. I did add widgets but I didn't notice any performance slowdowns. To this date, I haven't ever had the need of multitasking.

Desire Gingerbread 2.3 upgrade with Sense 1.9, which is just about the same as Sense 2.1, more like the original Desire Sense, far from Sense 3.0. Go read Desire forums, if you don't believe and don't have a Desire to check it on. No news.

My friend has htc desire. I asked him he said sense 3.0 using the ruu.exe... Probably a custom rom then
