so I had a rom a while back that would announce the caller id during the ringtone... this was very cool.
got a new rom, which doesn't, so I've been searching and reading trying to figure it out. from what I can tell MS Voice Command is what does this. so I installed it.
I performed a test call and I can hear the break in the ringtone where it should announce but all I get is a beep (or ding/chime however you want to describe the sound)
I tried running through the option on voice command, what few there are, and no luck. tried a rebooting the device, no luck
when I invoke voice command (as if to dial by voice) it talks to me, but it refuses to announce the caller ID
what am I doing wrong?

whenever i receive a call my tilt phone says "call from ____ on mobile phone." I want to take that off so i can hear my ringtone better. I couldnt find it under any settings and I appreciate any and all help. FYI im running duthy's hybrid v2 on a tilt
It's Microsoft voice command that announces it like that.
The settings to turn it on/off are under start>Settings>Voice command, or something similar. i dont have it installed at the moment so cant double-check.
Hope this helps

I didn't want to start a new thread on a similar subject so I thought I would ask here....
I love MSVC and have used it on two other HTC phones (Touch and Prophet. However, I got one BIG issue with it now...
When I receive an incoming call during call waiting, the caller's name gets YELLED at to me while I am on the line with the other person! If I don't want to hang up on the other party or switch to them, the yelling continues till the call hangs up! I can't hear anything except for the woman's voice nagging at me, telling me who wants to speak to me..... How do I stop this? It never used to be this loud or intrusive.
I wish some things could be configured with VC.....take for example the fact that I rather not have my appointments spoken to me at times.....or even the caller ID read out. EVERYONE around me knows who is calling! I like my privacy....
I like to talk to my phone and ask it things and tell it what to do...MSVC does it well.....what I hate is that the phone talks to me when I don't ask for it!!
Any solutions?
Edit- I don't want to hijack the original question. Hopefully someone can answer them as well....I want to know as much as I can about this app....
MS Voice Command 1.6 German
Hello Guys ...
I read much about MS VC 1.6 cause Cyberon Voice Speed Dial
doesn´t work well in German - and would like to test it now.
Could someone please provide a download link?!
Thanks!
Voice command works great on my phone except the announce incoming calls only if the caller is unknown, (blocked Number) The phone makes a very short burst of sound and then its all over, missed the call. I am thinking it is having trouble trying to figure out what to say because there is number to say mmmmmmm But I have never had the issue with any other phones, I have to switch the function off to announce call which is the main reason I have it on there....... anyone with this issue?
I need someone's help real bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here is the scenario:
1. I got everything work just fine with this VOIP phone with Sipgate, Google Voice & Sipsorcery... I got everything working and receiving incoming & outgoing calls with no problems at all.. using Sipdroid as my ATA on my T-Mobile G1
2. now today after like a month when i getting ready to make a outbound call to a store it gives me a beeping noise that replaces the ringer then it never connects and hangs up.
3. now i never changed the settings on sipgate nor did I change the settings on sipsorcery...
4. I never had a problem til today and now i cant receive nor make calls.
5. So i went to sipgate and tried to dial out it said "Error 200 3" or with the pop up messages on the bottom right while signed into sipgate it had a message at the bottom saying "Line 1 Busy".
6. Since then i went into sipgate and erased everything also i did the same in sipsorcery and it didnt change the problem...
7. All im trying to do is make calls again without hearing this beep sound that replaces the ringer and making and receiving calls again...
Can Anyone please help me???? I really need it lol, i am frustrated to the max with this.

come on, yall know how to make app for phones and all i am asking on how to correct a problem...
do anyone have a answer?
I've searched and searched, but because the terms are ambiguous, I haven't been able to find a solution to this.
So, I appear to be one of the only people in the world who sets Google Voice to prompt to dial "with or without Google Voice" when initiating a call. When I place the call from the dialer, it's not a problem. I just choose one or the other and I'm on my way. When I'm dialing with hands-free via Bluetooth, I long-press the button on the earpiece, then say who I want to call, and then there is silence. The phone screen will actually go off, because that's what normally happens when you start a call. The screen also locks. And that doesn't even count choosing to dial with or without Google Voice.
So basically, here are the steps to dial a call via Bluetooth, when using Google Voice, set to prompt:
1) Long-press the button on the earpiece
2) Say "Call so-and-so, mobile/home/work/etc"
3) Press power button to turn screen back on
4) Slide to unlock the phone screen
5) Choose whether to dial with/without GV
The last three steps kind of defeat the purpose of hands-free dialing. I don't like to even touch my phone when my car is moving, so my only other alternative would be to choose to always or never use GV when dialing outgoing calls. It seems like it would be simple (for someone who writes phone apps) to add in a prompt to use/not use GV. This could of course interface with an API easier than you would (power button, unlock screen, choose dial method).
Along those lines, it would be nice to be able to say the number "One" when accepting a Google Voice call, as I have it set to not automatically answer when a GV call comes in (this allows me to screen calls).
I've got my fingers crossed that someone else has gone through this and has found a solution.
Oh, and I'm currently rooted on Liberty 2.0 on .886. If flashing will help, I would definitely be up for that.
