Hey guys,
I need a hand, It is an easy task, but unfortunately I have no Xperia so i must ask for a little help here.
What I need is someone with knowledge of registry, shortcuts & arguments to lend a quick glance to their device.
I need to know what shortcut the camera button is calling, What the registry for the button is including any arguments.
Baiscally the X2 Camera works on other devices with out the lag of the HTC camera. Unfortunately the newer HTC devices use a touchscreen button or v-button to snap the pi, or start video.
I want to map a key on the TP2 to hook the X2 camera snap / start video functions, but I have no X2 to look at. If someone could please take a look at the registry settings for the buttons controlling the camera function & also any short cuts, you can open in note pad or post a copy sp I can see what arguments they are calling to get the picture to snap or video to start rolling.
Thanks Again!
i basically cant help you with what your requesting but...
im curious...
what's your goal on this?
sorry
I'm also just curios...
x2's camera is 8mp, there's no HTC device with more than 5mp. Does the x2 software work on a device with lower resolution cam ?

Hi, I am coming from a Mogul and the camera wasn't great, though it did work in a pinch. Now I have a Sprint Diamond which I love, though the camera is so slow that I cannot take a picture or video without blur. I am not trying to complain as the phone suits my needs very well. The question is, can registry edits be made to improve the camera? Maybe speed up the process a bit?
By the way, thanks for this great site! I have learned so much already!

Good question my friend. Well search for the tool called Advance Config. by default ( and i dont know why) the phone is programmed to have a slight delay when you press the action button and when it actually take the pictures.
So install that app and search for the photo options, there you can set the details, activate another options.
Have fun,
As you all probably know, when taking a picture with this phone the camera takes about five seconds to actually take the picture after pressing the button. I did a search and read that I could go into the registry and change a couple things, which I did. However, that did not change the capture time. Does anyone know a fix?
its not neccessary to edit the registry, just search around the options
menue->advanced settings
should be the first entry
greets
Thanks but the first entry is the review time after the picture is taken, used to see what the picture looks like. Not what I was looking to change.
Same problem here, 5 seconds of lag, it makes the sound and the people move thinkink that the picture had been taken but oohh surprise .... so I always get a ghost picture LOL
Same here .... Is totally imposible to take a photo ghost-free
can we use another app to take picture? I know that coolcamera works beautifully with my HTC prophet. Does coolcamera work with touch diamond? Anyone tried? Or any better apps for the camera? HTC camera never respond quickly no matter in what devices. I guess we need to replace the HTC camera with something else.
If you have a delay in taking a photo just change the settings using the Advanced Configuration Tool. Under the camera options, capture delay should be disabled, key delay disabled and capture key delay set to zero.
also, try this:
HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Captparam/
and set
CaptureTimer = 0 (old=5000)
Two more things to do - go into the camera advanced settings (in the camera itself) and turn off the click sounds and set the review time to no limit. With those changes I think I have a working camera here...

I know where click sounds and review time are. But How do i get to capture delay, key delay, ect. I know you said use advanced configuration tool. Does that come on the phone? If so how do i get to it? Or is it only on the diamond. Im new to xda and I dont see a thread for the HTC Touch Pro. Which is the phone im using. So I assume anything in the HTC Diamond threads would work with my phone.
Oh I think i just came across it by mistake while reading through threads
is this what you were talking about that i need to have.

really? Because last night i read through that thread from the link i posted. And i went to the website of advanced config and it shows everything it does. HAlf of it I dont understand. BUt in the list under camera options it showed capture delay should be disabled, key delay disabled and capture key delay set.
But I saw alot of people saying they messed up there phone playing with settings so i havent installed it yet.
DO you have the new version of advanced config?
Cause i would love to speed up my camera

The Touch pro is the Raphael. Here's an article on Advanced Configuration: http://www.fuzemobility.com/?p=203
You should check out the tips/tricks at fuzemobility.com as well. The Fuze is a variant of the Touch pro and they're identical except for a few things like a push to talk button...

Download Regedit for HTC or whatever register editor and go to HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera/Captparam/ there you can edit and modify the timer, with all these tricks the camera is working a little bit better, but Im still getting ghost pictures... I give up with this phone ........
to tek: i had the wrong advanced config. the latest one does have all the camera things. and it works. the lag is only probably about a second and a half know.

Hi all, i just got my x1, but the camemra shutter won't activate the camera application! i can only go to programs--videos&pictures to launch the camera, but then again pressing the shutter only focuses but doesn't take a picture. Any ideas as this is software or hardware related? Thanks very much in advance!
I had the same problem when I first got my X1. The solution is very simple
The camera button actually has 2 "levels" of pressing, ie. you need to press it quite hard to launch the camera app, or actually take a picture. So it is really like 2 buttons in 1. If you only press it "softly" like any other button, it won't launch the camera app from Windows and will only adjust the focus inside the camera app instead of actually taking a picture.
So press it down harder, and your problem is solved!
thx sl9! ^_^now it works haha. And one more question, i thought i just post it in this thread.
I flashed roms! and the total amount of ram and phone memory changes? Like in one rom i have 330 usable phone mem and in another i only have 296? how come then?
It's normal. Don't forget that the chefs put all kinds of apps/features that take differents ammounts of RAM/ROM.
yeah, but i mean the total usable amount, shouldn't that be a fixed number? thx
Hi Guys
From where i can mute /disable the camera shutter sound, its so loud, i want to disable it.
My 2nd question is, whenever i take the picture from Xperia, the camera is so slow in all the means, why is that so? Either i start the camera, it nearly take half minute to get ready, If i take the snap after pressing the camera button, the snap is caputred after around 10-15 second, so for the meantime i have to keep the camera in still positon, otherwise if i move it i get the blurr kind of image.
And in the end if i fortunatley able to get some clear picture, closing the camera or to take another pic, i still have to wait for for 20 seconds.
Is there some software/ patch which can remove these problems? or i will appreciate the guidance of experts.
I am using Xperia( Made in Taiwan), with latest ROM version from Sony Ericsson.
Thanks
Jade
in your camera settings
shutter sound click "snd.1" and change it to off
your camera settings also include various other settings you can change
to make the camera more like you want it
like many people get confused by the while click on screen where you want to have it focus
turning that off would prob help you
maybe all autofocus if you want it to take pictures fast
Rudegar,
Thanks alot the 2nd problem seems to be exactly what you pointed out. I never knew that before ,
But for the first question i asked about that Camera Picture Capture Sound, i am able to found the option for it, but i cannot found the option to mute it, infact i found 4 sounds option over there, and there was no option for "No Sound" or Mute , neither browse option to select any other sound file.
THanks
You can always make an "empty" sound file and replace the default one for the shutter. It is somewhere in the Windows folder IIRC.

The only way I've found is to turn the sound off on the phone, before activating the camera.
Remove any sound on Camera !?!

I am facing the same problem, but it never worked again.
I installed some ROMS such as UnOff and Touch-it. Up to this moment the camera was 100% OK. After that, I installed the original Brazilian Portuguese software and the camera stopped working...
What do I do? DOes anyone had such a problem? How to solve it?
Hello,
just quick question. I'm trying to get into the camera API and need a specific function. I'm not into the Android programming - yet. But before I'm putting all my effort in learning how everything works I was wondering if the following is possible:
1.) Is it possible to get the actual value of the autofocus from the Camera of my Xperia Z (or any other Android Device, running 4.x)?
2.) Is it possible to set the value for the value of the autofus to a specif value? Like manual focus?
I searched a lot and I just found some functions to stop the autofocus or put in macro/infinity mode. Is there any possibility in putting it to a specific value? Or is the focus system hardware based? (manufactur specific)
Is there any ressource on how the autofocus of an android device works? I can't find anything.
Thank you very much in advance
