On the android my camera seems to have a sepia look to it when its running does anyone have a way around it or a fix to get it like winmo's camera
It is being worked on, it has trouble in low light.
One thing you can do is hold VolDn when taking the picture, that increases the exposure time, you have to be very still though or these pictures will be blurry.
When your in the camera press the volume button up or down to make it better

Ok,thats for those members in the brotherhood whn hav played with the tytn2 camera.How's the picture quality? Do you miss the camera flash on the hermes? Wat difference does it make after all, i mean, a 3mp autofocus should be alrite. But what if u need ur flash light at night and theres none.I hav a dilema,stick on the hermes with its wm6 and having flashlight or migrate to kaiser(i dont use gps)

I can't comment on the Kaiser's picture quality but when I owned a 8525, I never used the flash. The flash in 8525/Hermes, to me, was a joke. It did not really make any difference unless you were taking macro pictures at night. I'm glad that Tilt does not have it. One less thing to worry about. Just my opinion.

agreed - I miss the flashlight.
the TyTN2 camera takes longer from button-push to snapshot than the TyTN - sometimes 2 seconds. Light sensitivity is better, but it's still a phone. Auto-focus seems to help but who can wait all that time?
yes the slow response time is kinda annoying. the pic quality is ok even without the flash, definitely not as good as my P1i sony ericsson.
The camera is better than the TyTN but no flash leads for very jumpy framerates in low light conditions. Nicest thing is the two-press camera button. Half press for focus and full press to take - much more like any other camera-phone. Quality still not up to that of a SE or a small digital camera though...

yeah..i agree with the slow response,i was getting ready to call htc,but i see its just not my phone..it really suck waiting for the pic.
The image quality is OK (good for 3MP phone camera).
But the camera operation is very slow, jumpy and blurry when there are lot of movement of the object or when you pan the phone. I hate this.
And yes, the lag is really, really annoying You will not be able to take picture of moving object!
Flip chart text legible after transfer to PC?
Can someone share an image of a "flip chart" with letters or numerals approximately the same height as a man's palm?
I'm trying to decide between the Tilt (3MP, no flash) and the BB Curve (2MP, with flash). Shooting flip charts in typical conference room light with no natural window light is the only camera utilization that I expect. The images will be captured on the device, then transferred to a PC for transcription -- with essentially infinite optical zoom capability available.

Camera speed with shutter sound disabled?
Does your Tilt/Tytn II camera speed increase with shutter sound disabled? I read that idea on another thread but haven't seen it confirmed here or elsewhere.

its normal. my sony ericsson K790a with autofocus clicks after focusing as well.
Def miss the flashlight... but mainly because of using it as a flashlight to look for things
But the refresh late is appauling which is annoying
Having said that, if you are stable and get rid of any shaking, i think the camera is actually really good. I took some scenery pictures in the car while going to Kent and even though we were moving at 70mph or so, they came out without any blurryness or noise on the pictures.
If they get rid of the refresh rate in darker (and I dont mean even dusk type light but just not daylight) areas, the camera will be perfect (for a phone)
I just upgraded from my old nokia 6682 to the kaiser. Here's two shots of roughly the same thing.

This is low light night conditions. Nokia is a complete joke. Kaiser is infinitely better but still no comparison to ccd cameras.
It's real slow taking pictures. That's for sure. And the only way to get digital camera replacement shots is to be really really still while taking it, which is real hard when it takes multiple seconds to take the picture.

So i updated to the my tilt to Duttys Apr 1st rom, and since then, my camera is very slow on the FPS. I reinstalled the Camera 5.0.4.2915 fix, but no luck. So in reading, i found that if i turned on the camera, then hit the power button, then placed my hand over the camera lense, then hit the power button, i get much better FPS. But after i turn off the camera, the FPS goes back to very poor (so where everything is blurry). Does anyone have any ideas for a fix for this?

This has been around for ages. All it does is stop the cameras light meter working, so it is locked to one exposure. It means you might get a dark picture, rather than a blurry one.
I wonder if the root of the problem is that the camera doesn't support a variable ISO speed? On my k750i, as it got darker the camera boosted the ISO resulting in grainier (but lighter) images. Looks like the our TYTN IIs might be locked to a single ISO speed, with only adjustments to the exposure time being made to compensate for darkness.
Can anyone help with this. I thought I was doing something wrong but have now tried everything I can and still I am getting poor pictures from the camera. I have all settings set to highest quality and anti-shake on (have also tried it off). Press hold shutter, hear beep and release. The results are always what I would call poor. See the picture below. On these settings I would think I could read the titles of the books on the shelves but even the books themselves look grainy.
Is there a fix for this?

I usually tap the screen on the area I want in focus and when it turns green tap the shutter key. I tend not to use the anti-shake. Maybe check to make sure your lens is clean?

I came from a S3 and once you touched the screen to focus and then hit the photo button it would take sharp pictures all the time, on the S5 I have went thru every setting possible trying to see of one will help it take a clear picture and as of yet have failed every time.
Sitting in the living room lit with sunlight I tried to take a pic of the living room, came out blurry (yes the plastic film is off of the camera). out of 5 photos maybe 2 come out clear. Last night at the basketball game I had the same issues, pictures of us taken by other people required multiple shots to get one that came out clear, shots we took in the arena when it was lit up well were hard to get to come out in focus.
Anyone else seeing these issues on the S5?

This. I'll explain. the higher the ISO the faster the shutter speed at the expense of photo quality. in traditional film cameras higher speed films (ISO) came out very grainy and loss of detail. It's used a lot in dark, low light situations because as you know the slower the shutter speed, the more chance of blur.
image stabilization in smartphones has at least some to do with shortening that shutter speed by ramping up the ISO, leading to loss of detail. aperture / shutter speed / iso are the three things that are correlated, our cameras have a set aperture. when you take pics outdoors on a bright day, the shutter doesn't have to be open long, and the ISO is taken down to 100, so that is why you have amazing crisp clear pictures.
at night, take of image stabilization, set the ISO to 100-200-400, and have a VERY steady hand. when you try all 3 ISO levels, you'll notice it will take longer for the shutter to close, however if you have a tripod or set it on a table, your picture will look very clear. clearer than iso 400, 800, etc.
the benefit is at higher ISO, in low light settings the shutter will be faster so less chance of blur
I don't have the image stabilization turned on, it takes to long to use it and even when I did try it out the photos it produced were blurry as well.
I am pretty camera savvy as I have a nice DSLR, I have tried different metering options and messed with the ISO. No change in settings produces a clear picture, beginning to wonder if I have a defective camera system in the phone. I noticed this morning that the camera module is set in the phone crooked as well.

I get very sharp shots in good light. I'd say it is hard to get one out of focus in good light. I'm seeing pretty decent performance in low light (for a camera phone). If you are getting poor focus in good light, you may have a defecting camera.
What shutter speeds are you getting for the ones that are out of focus? Because of the camera's limitations in aperture and ISO, it is easy to get shutter speeds in the 1/15 second range. Obviously anything moving in the picture is going to have motion blur, on any camera. Only way to get around that is to increase light (e.g., use flash).
Here are a couple things to try (if it is not motion blur of subjects):
- Turn on tap to take picture, and keep the phone as still as possible. I find that with this set, I have to do less handling of the phone and can keep it more stable
- Picture stabilization helps a bit. It increases the ISO a bit, and does some image processing. It appears to be doing some sort multi-frame processing (comparing/combining multiple frames to yield a better shot). Seems to help more with camera shake blur than it does with subject motion blur.
Guys, anyone having this problem too? If you zoom from above 1x to 5x (before the switch happens) all pictures from my camera become almost monochrome, I screen recorded what happens.

Telephoto lens is a lot lower spec than the main 1x lens, only 8MP
Sometimes for fairly close subjects like that cat and stuff, you're better off using main camera @ 1x and cropping

This seems to be a lower specced lens or sensor more than software, it makes the telephoto lens useless.
I have the same problem. To debunk some of the replies, it's not because the cat is grey. It's not because the telephoto lens is of lower quality because it's not used between 1.1-2.9X zoom where muted colors happen and what does "only 8MP" have to do with the colors.
There's definitely a software bug. Like others said, it looks good in the viewfinder but comes out almost greyscale when saving. A bug, just like the main camera being out of focus when zooming back out in video recording. Such simple bugs but still not fixed.

I have this problem too. I had it on emui 9 and now on emui 10. I writed to the support but they think it's hardware defect..
1 year with this phone and the problem isn't resolved yet. And not only that problem, white balance is too blue, the sharpness is really hard, absurd amount of contrast. I'm very disappointed with this phone, because was publicize as "the best photography phone" and It's a lie. This phone do "good photos" if you hate photography.
