RhodiumSPLRelocker_079SPL doesn't run - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile ROM Development

I'm trying to put 0.79 SPL back on my tp2 to send back to htc tomorrow. I click the exe with the phone activesynced but nothing happens.
I'm running windows 7 64bit.
Am I doing something wrong?
If I try 0.84 or 0.87 can I overwrite with 0.79 if i can get it working?
EDIT: Sorry was panicking then. switched compatibility mode etc on and it has now run fine.

Upgrading on Vista

Has anyone found a way to upgrade to any WM6 ROMs on Windows Vista? I'm sorta at my wits end here!
In the Wizard Upgrading forum there is a thread "Upgrading your phone on Windows Vista". The driver instructions (which are really well written) work perfectly, but the RUU version fails with an "out of date" error.
There have been a number of other RUU versions suggested, but they all crash on Vista.
Shelltool works on Vista only about 25% of the time. Usually it just starts the flash process and hangs indefinitely. I was able to successfully flash XM6r4, but since then nothing else I've tried has worked. I did go back to the latest AT&T ROM afterwards, but haven't been able to get back to WM6 since. One of the things I tried was extracting the RUU from Cingular's update, but that one didn't work either, which confuses me even more!
All of the RUU Wrapper versions I've used to flash my Hermes work great on Vista, yet none of the RUU versions seem to be able to do so on my G4 Wizard (Cingular 8125).
Please, if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate them! I've searched and searched through the forums for different methods and versions, but have come up empty handed.
FWIW, I don't have access to an XP machine, and dual booting is not an option for me.
Thanks!
Dual Boot!
I just ended up dual booting XP, I noticed you said it was not an option, but did you know you can do it without reformatting through computer management in Vista?

Yep! Unfortunately that's not an option either. It's a matter of resources. I'm stuck with Vista, on which, I should point out, I can upgrade my Hermes successfully 100% of the time!
The RUU versions used to flash .nbh format ROMs to my Hermes all work, yet the older versions which take the .nbf format ROMs used by the Wizard don't!
There's got to be some solution. Using Shelltool usually works, but that only flashes the OS, not the ExtROM, splash screen, etc, so it's really only part of the solution.
Hmm i myself had some problems with flashing using Windows Vista. here are some observations i had
1) i first flashed using the origional tmobile rom (3.08 spl/ipl with 2.69 radio) i flashed it without doing anything special besides putting it in bootloader mode
2) next when i tried flashing it with a cooked rom it wouldnt work ( again i just tried to flash from bootloader mode without following any of the instructions givin in the Upgrading with Windows Vista thread)i found the RUUupdater version to be 2.0?? ( im sorry i forget the exact version numbers)
3) On checking the RUUupdater of the Tmobile that worked i found it to be 2.5???( again i forget teh exact version but suffice it to say it was newer)
4) i copyed the cooked rom nbk files to the Tmobile origional rom folder ( the one that worked on updating) but unfortunatly it wouldnt work
5) i then went to the thread and downloaded the drivers and installed them as the instructions said i should
6) i then downloaded the VistaRUU file they had there and then copyed the nbk files to that folder and VIOLA i flashed it and it worked like a charm ( again i flashed in bootloader mode)
This was just my experiance hopefully someone can figure out what i did right and why it worked for me and hopefully make it work for everyone else having problems
I thought there was a thread somewhere here about how to use Vista...if I remember, it may have even been stickied.
There was a stiki but it seems to have been unstikied and has since gone outta sight
Was this the thread??
It is still stickied if it is the thread.
I don't use Vista, so I haven't really read through it.

What do you mean by putting the phone in bootloader mode first? In my experience, the phone has to be booted fully in order for the RUUs to work. Is there a way to get it to recognize the phone if it's already in bootloader mode?
If I put the phone in bootloader mode and then run RUU, the RUU just comes back and says it can't talk to the phone.
FWIW, I did the same as you, as far as flashing the original (Cingular) ROM and trying to use the RUU that came with that update. It seems that those RUUs won't work with any other ROMs.
Thanks for any help!

Yep, that's the one! Been through it. As I mentioned above, the driver instructions in that thread are required when using Vista, but the RUU doesn't work.
Other than docnas here, everyone else has had the same problem as me. The Vista RUU comes back and complains that it's out of date.
I'd like to figure out what docnas did differently to get it to work. BTW, what version of Vista were you using? 32 or 64 bit? Mine is 64.
I'd also like to find out how it worked with the phone already in bootloader mode, since everyone says (and my experience has shown) that the phone needs to be booted and synced before the RUU will talk to the phone.
This may all be too late for me anyway. I'm giving my old Cingular 8125 to a friend, which is why I've been updating it. Unfortunately (or fortunately? ), once she has it, I'll only be working with my ATT 8525, which I can update and work with without any of the problems I've had with the Wizard.

Revert back to SPL 1.14?

Is it possible? I'm stuck on the stock ROM on SPL 1.54 at the moment, USPL not working.
I did a search but nothing came back about this... it's all in the wording
Been there done that...
I had to revert back yesterday after hours and hours of trying to install the new Dutty v3 on mine. I loaded the Hard-SPL back on my phone(panicked a bit when I switched it back on and the colours were all funny) copied a 1.14 blacimg.nbh onto the sd card and 10 minutes later I was back in business. I don't know if this is the "correct" way but it's how I did it.
Thanks - will give that a try.
Hang on - which HardSPL did you use? The one in the sticky post in here does not work with SPL 1.54... (which is true - I just tried)
OliNex - worked for me.
Ah so I flash the old 1.14 stock ROM first to downgrade the SPL.. got it
Thanks!
I first did Hard-SPL. I suppose it doesn't really matter. I love my HD, it's tough as nails and handles just about all the abuse you can throw at it pretty well. Good luck.
I also had problems using USPL to flash any homebrew ROM. Read through the dummy manual and even that did not work. Tried it on a Vista PC and on a XP pc, but it did not work. Eventually I did manage to flash, not using Vista (32-bits) but using XP. Here is how I did it:
1) From command prompt on XP, run black_uspl.exe to put the HD in USPL mode. On the HD, after reboot on the lower part USB should be mentioned.
2) Then from command prompt on XP, run BlackStoneRUUWrapper.exe to start the flashing process.
Thanks I'll definitely try this. But over the weekend - I was up till after midnight fiddling on the pc.
This actually works. Its has for me and i thank you for trying it.
Only thing is, if you do it via SD card, no problems.
If you do it via active sync cable, it is a little tricky.
For me, i flashed HSPL first. As expected, i got the green screen and my data and phone settings wouldnt work. Not so bad i thought, as i will be putting the Stock 1.14 Rom back on and no problems. This is where the fun began. No active sync, and then i got it but wouldnt last long enough to even run Stock Rom flash.
Thats when i reverted back to how Crackwhore mentioned going back to stock SPL.
And that was, goto Active sync Connection settings on PC and untick " Allow USB Connections".
Then put unit into Bootloader as per instructions everywhere here. Bottom of phone will say "Serial" and will show Olinex 1.14 SPL (or however it shows it, sorry)
Plugged in the usb cable and the bottom of phone said "USB"
I then ran the Stock Rom Flashing file ( I used BlackstoneCustom RUU from Dutty's Site, as it has Stock Rom and Stock Radio)
The ROM Downgrade worked perfectly for me.
Im now in the process of re-upgrading my radio and Back to the Rom i was using prior to 1.56 (much more faster and more reliable for me at the moment) I will post up my results when it is done. Hopen this helps others.
NOTE----- I take no responsibility for anyone elses phone. This is you own decision as it was mine- The risk is completely in the beholder of the phone and PC. No Offence intended to anyone.
Frank from Oz Downunder
Well I've managed to do it - back to SPL 1.14.Olinex, running Miri's WM6.5 v8.1 ROM with Manila (the best of both worlds). If anyone's interested, I did it this way:
First flashed the older official HTC ROM (I had the official 1.56 ROM installed before). This put my SPL back down to the stock SPL 1.14. Next I put on the HardSPL, then stuck the new ROM on.
Simples
I can confirm that my downgrade of SPL 1.54 to HSPL olinex 1.14 and Lesser Rom worked ok. Now i have to test it.
If i find anything worth mentioning, i will post it up.

Help: can I get instructions to get WM side (Snapvue) working again

After flashing radio 1.27 I can't get Snapvue working again.
Reinstalling Vista didn't help. Even the sound doesn't work in Vista.
Ecshift and mmty don't help to reset the system.
Can't get SoftSPL installed.
somebody any idea?
Did you HardSPL before you flashed the radio?
Re-installing Vista wont help with the WinMo side.
what threads did you read ? What exactly did you try
Before people are going to put in the effort, please help us help you..
Which threads on this forum have you read about this problem ?
And what actions (eg command sequences) did you try to get
your shift working again?
---
My best bet is that you should use ECshift.exe /bl to get to the bootloader,
then flash ThaiHugo's radio and then his ROM. Should work.
P.S. forget Vista on your Shift, really if you can afford it, use Windows 7 ultimate and use SD card for "readyboost"

Thx for helping me with this item.
I had a good working gullum rom with wm 6.5
then the phoneconnection couldn't anylonger be established.
so I flashed radio 1.27
since then I have a black screen..
I went to all the proposals given in the threads about black screen in snapvue.
Didn't first knew that installing Vista aknew didn't help me on the WM side.
Know it by now, since a few weeks ago.
Have installed both Vista and Windows 7
Both do have soundproblems.
Flashed after your proposal yesterday
- ShifthardSPLfinal
- radio 1.27 rad
- the light rom
No working screen.
Should I still try another radio?
Which one? Could you give me a linl?
HardSPLed again.
had a look with mtty info 2
It was!
Flashed radio.
Then thaihugo's ROM Full.
Black!
Is there another way to reset SNAPVUE? Or have a look inside to "see what is wrong"?

Well first of all you need an SPL which is fastboot enabled, be it HardSPL, Engeneering, or 1.33.2005 (AKA Haykuro, Danger, blah blah).
If you're having trouble with your current drivers try these.
How do I go aboput getting those installed?
And if I change the spl is there a way to revert back to stock? ie 1.33.0006

Drivers or SPLs?
SPL: It's just a regular update that you flash. For the G1 I reccomend 1.33.2005, just make sure you have the .26i radio first. If you don't it will brick, also boot in to reocvery to check you have a PVT board first.
Drivers: Once you get the phone in to fastboot via the SPL, windows should tell you that new hardware has been connected, from there choose to install from a certain location and select the drivers I linked to earlier.
For the MT3G, look for AmonRA's posting of which SPL's to use in the sapphire section.
I still don't get it though....can u help me

[Q] ROM Flashing from PC on Mac - not working

I am trying to flash the ROM on my Touch Pro 2 before I sell it. I am running windows XP on a mac using Parallels 5.0. I have tried running the ROM update when active sync is connected and all starts ok then I get error 226 saying cannot connect. I then tried flashing straight from a newly FAT32 formatted microSD card and that jsut stocks on with a Loading message. So I tried flashing Hardspl, although I think that I have done this before when I still had a pc, but that failed with a connection error too. Any tips/advice anyone?
You need to provide more information. Are you trying to flash a custom ROM, and which one? What ROM are you running now? What version of the phone do you have/what carrier?
If you are still HardSPLed, the second line of text on the bootloader (tri-color) screen will say "OliNex", probably saying "SPL-0.85.Olinex". If it doesn't say this, the SPL is locked, and you won't be able to flash a custom ROM.
If you are trying to flash the stock ROM, I think some people have been having trouble doing so with the phone HardSPLed. But it may depend on what stock ROM. I am able to flash the Euro stock ROM just fine on my HardSPLed phone.
ok, i'll try to answer your request for more info:
trying to flash Energy Rom build 23699.
Existing ROM version is listed as 2.07.401.1 (80303) WME dated 2/4/10.
Phone is an unbadged HTC Touch Pro 2 as sold by Tmobile etc in UK.
Can't see any mention of OliNex on bootloader screen, so perhaps I didn't unlock= it after all. Certainly no T mobile stuff left on the phone now.

Don't know off hand what ROM that you have installed right now. What do the boot screens look like when you start the phone? Also, what does the bottom row of red letters say, when you startup the phone?
If it doesn't say Olinex on the bootloader screen, you are not HardSPLed. Either you never did it, or you relocked it.
Run HardSPL, and you should be able to flash from the SD card no problem.
Redpoint. Thanks for your replies and interest. I have tried to run HardSpl but this fails with a 260 connection error, even though Activsync is synced and connected. Id this to do with running a virtual pc on a mac perhaps?
Your welcome, hope my advice is helpful.
HardSPL is pretty finicky, even on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. I think running it on a Mac is difficult or even impossible. You can search the HardSPL thread and see if anyone was able to get it to run on Mac. I'm pretty sure I read different users on that thread mentioning issues with running HardSPL on Mac.
My best advice would be to run HardSPL on a friend's Windows XP system, if possible. It usually runs smoothly on XP, and only takes a couple minutes.
Yes, that confirms my suspicions. I will try it frommy partners windows XP netbook whenshe gets home. Fingers crossed.
Will let you know how I get on and if I need any more help!
