Here are my comments after using diamond for 2 days in HK, previously I'm using Atom Life.
Software installed just like those in diamond:-
spb shell
spb backup
isilo
mobipocket
Cyberon dictionary
Mapking 2007
IM plus
HiCal
SRS WOW(in atom life)
The overall performance is about the same as Atom Life, but when using touch flo 3D will slow down the whole machine so I ignore it and using spb shell, FM radio receive is excellent (just like SE), but the sound playback quality is medium in compare with atom life, cannot install SRS WOW even have the registry modified. Battery life (900mAh) is just fair for normal use, if using HSDPA and have high data exchange (stocks checking), it can just last for 3 hours, lucky the charge up time is also fast.
if anyone who can using SRS WOW, pls post it out.
Cheers
Hi,
How do you rate the battery life in comparison with Atom Life?
I know HSDPA also sucks the Atom Life battery in no time, not even 3 hours in my case!
BTW did you have the official WM6 ROM on your Atom Life, or did you install one of the WM6.1 unofficial ROMs floating around here?

You don't need SRS Wow - the Diamond comes with "Audio booster"
spb back-up working?!!!
So the battery is even worse than on the Touch. Damn it, I'll have to wait till Touch Pro comes out :/. I hate HTC for delaying it, you would think that they should fix some problems that haunt Diamond/Touch Pro roms by then, but that probably won't be the case :/

Yes, it does... at least looks like it
This is really for the cooks to have a look at…
http://www.viddler.com/explore/WMExperts/videos/2/
The Omnia has some really great software features built in maybe some of them can be ported into a custom Diamond ROM by the cooks. Haptic feedback with sensitivity control, alarm app, barcode reader, google launcher, etc...
What do you think?
The interface is much smoother on the Omnia than the Diamond, very noticeable when he scrolls in the programs folder compared to the stuttery scrolling on the Diamond.
Would also love to see that zoom out then zoom in when the phone is tilted, that looks awesome
Samsung has done an excellent job on that interface.
Personally, I don't like much the Omnia interface, but one thing is a fact: Omnia is much much faster than Diamond...
HastaSSSS
That's really true!!!
Crap. Nothing more. You must realize, that Omnia redraw about cca 3.5 times pixels less than Diamond. That is all. That is why she is fater. Nothing more. Samsung did excellent work? Why? Let me prove my words - these benchmarks are from Omnia by SPB benchmark: CPU:1847 , Diamond: CPU: 2299, OK, and dont forgett that Omnia has 624 MHz CPU, But Diamond only 528! And he is still much faster. You may say that new Marvell 624 MHz CPUs are bad, but they are not - HP Ipaq 214 with same CPU as Omnia has 2500 spb benchmark CPU test points. OK, you could say that Omnia has 5500 points in graphic test, but Diamond only 1600 - yes, but Diamond has VGA screen. Ipaq 214 has VGA screen too, and has 1600 points too. So, Diamond graphic points are 1600*4. So, Samsung did relativelly bad job, compared to ather phones with same CPU like Omnia.

are you mad??? so U can count how long it takes to do the screen rotation and compare it to diamond with gsen, another thing diamond rotates VGA 640x480, Omnia only!!! WQVGA 240 x 400 so U can count again... and I ll give you my Diamond if samsung omnia will have such a forum and amateur development and support as Diamond
Yeah and also, the Omnia interface doesn't seem to use a lot of ressource, that is why it is fast.
Graphics from HTC Diamond are more beautiful => more ressource (RAM + CPU) => slower
That is all
Yeah, but it would be great if we had other alternatives to the Toucho3D, besides SPB mobile shell...
HastaSSSS
you will when schaps ll finnish his work...

here here!
looks very slick ..... i like it! Only problem I should think would be because the samsung is a non-vga screen
one more reason to keep it off and solve important problems like mp3 lag, lock display when incoming call etc.. no fence

One of the great "features" with being a community is that some ppl will focus on those particular problems whereas another user might choose to focus on this.
I doubt that the problems that you list will be resolved quicker depending on whether someone chooses to try porting the UI used on the Omnia.
I would love to try out the Omnia interface, after all, the diversity of windows mobile is one of the stronger points in buying/using a HTC device, at least for me...
That is a very nice device! well thought out and great implementation of WM. I would definitely buy it for my kids!
Aww come on guys..
Not another "diamond vs omnia" thread.
We just wanna know if we can port the best of Omnia onto the diamond. Thats it!. I am looking forward to the haptic feedback though. I think our gurus can easily develop a similar one, but.. whos gonna do it?
Task Manager
One of programs I like in Omnia and want in my Diamond is the Task manager in one buton. Diamond only shows it in TF3D. If you are reading an e-mail you can´t switch to another program if you don´t go to today and click on task manager. Today I´m using SPB Pocket Plus that I can set one button to do the same of the alt+tab of a PC. It shows all the programs runign in background. Does anyone have another idea besides the SPB Pocket plus to do this?
I totally agree that this thread should not be another Omnia Vs Diamond thread.
I’m fully aware that the Omnia has a smaller screen resolution hence it has less work to do which is the reason the animations are smoother or appear to be faster. To be honest I’m not bothered about that.
What I want is for the cooks to look at the Omnia ROM and see if anything useful can be ported over to the diamond. If they have haptic feedback, why can’t we? If they have a task manager why can’t we? etc...
Omnia's TouchWiz UI on Diamond
Hi guys,
just wondering if anyone came across a cab file or or a rom dump of the Samsung's Omnia to install the TouchWiz UI on the Diamond or Diamond pro.
Could be interesting.
I'll start investigating.
please use the search button
you didn't investigate much did you
there is a thread here already

How about porting the Diamond interface to the Omnia? This is something I'd be interested in seeing.
Hello everybody,
First, I want to say :"Thanks to Xda Dev" beacause your softwares are great and beacause we find in this forum a lot of amazing information.
I've recently bought an HTc touch diamond and i'm surprised to see that 60% of ram is used at the boot. I've tried to reduce that but I never succeed.
That's why I want to know if there is a way to reduce this comsumption of memory. I've seen that some cooked ROM could do that but I dont know which is the best because I don't wanna change the original TouchFlo.
Sorry for my poor english, I keep my dictionnary near me =)
Thanks for all,
Tristan
The only other way to radically reduce RAM usage is to disable TF3D, but that's not what you want. On the other hand 40% free RAM is a lot compared to most cooked ROMs that run at between 80% and 90% usage.
Hi,
I've had my Touch Diamond for over a year now, and there's one thing that really bothers me. It just doesn't have the fluent pleasant experience of an iPhone. There's no window animations, scrolling through file explorer, or using internet explorer is all choppy. The reason that ive been using xdandroid is because of the fluency, and graphic appeal. Is there a way to improve fluency, like tweak the rom? I don't care if it uses 95% ram, I just want a nice experience. Because all the 6.5 sense 2.5 roms floating around here just stink in this aspect, believe me, I've tried them all
Thanks
Don't spam. i've already replied on the ROM thread.
Hi Guys,
Can someone advise which ROM I am best using purely for a long battery life? I will be using my handset solely for tracking GPS data so features and a nice looking interface are if no importance!
Jon
You must use some of LITE version of 6.1 or 6.5
Which I prefered eg "Clean Revolurion" or your owned custom ROM.
But its depend on ayour battery's age too.
stock rom, maybe (very) light 6.1 custom roms, can't advice on 6.5 roms, especially not with sense
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
I think is the 6.1,and have no manila....
try one of my Infinite or X1.5 (non-manila) roms, they are known for the best in battery life with wm6.5
i have tried almost all ROMs both 6.1 and 6.5. the longest battery life i could get is from 826X Roms (6.5), then 1.5x Unoff (6.5), then pctech4u (6.1)...last night it consumed only 1% from 94% to 93%...long battery life and stability are my priporities...Hope the info. will be useful for you...
Just google nueClockControl. You can underclock your x1 and save a lot of battery with any ROM.
Brilliant, cheers for all the info guys, I think I will be flashing it later next week
