Hi there!
I was just offered a Trinity, so I came here looking for information on how to update it. I already read a lot of things and managed to install the latest Radio and tried some custom ROMs, no problems whatsoever.
However, I still have some questions I can't find answers for:
1 - Why use a custom ROM? Isn't it possible to use the original WM and then install only what you want?
2 - If it is, where can I find a ROM with the original WM6.1 and 6.5?
3 - If not, what is the least modified ROM I can get with 6.1 and 6.5? Or at least some ROM with only the basics.
4 - Is TouchFlo the same as Manilla? I've seen both words but I don't know the differences.
Thanks in advance!

1. Flashing Custom ROM is faster then installing a whole package like with manila2d.
2. No, trinity only ship with original 6.0 ROM.
3. If you want 6.1 ot 6.5, flash an Ultralite ROM or cook your own. For p3600i 6.1 - try this
p3600i 6.5 try this
If you have the original p3600. Check the Trinity Upgrade Article in the wiki. Remember Lite ROM.
4.TouchFLO is the original that is shipped with the Elf/in
Kaiser etc... Manila is TouchFLO3D and it is bundled with the Diamond and Pro. And Manila2D a slimmed version of TF3D that is used in the Viva and 3G and can be installed in most WM phones.

Hi i currently own a TILT, and i flashed the HTC OEM rom, but, im sure there is a better built more functional ROM out there, what do you guys recomend?
the tools i really really need other than the phone, is: Tasks, calendar and tomtom.
any comments will be appreciated.
thanks
If you've already flashed the HTC rom I assume you have hardSPL - if not, flash that next.
As for Roms - it's up to you. If you don't need many apps or plugins then go for a lite ROM (Dutty, Alex, Q-mobile etc). If you need more of the WM6 functions and apps go for a full Rom (Sleuth, Dutty, Schapps etc).
When you start flashing, don't forget to read the sticky about which radio works with which rom (bigger isn't always best).
Other than that, no one will really tell you which is the best rom - that depends on what you want and how you use the phone.
thanks for the info,
is there like a list of all the ROM's and what it contains?

List's everything that's in it...
What do different ROM's do?
Tom
Different ROM's can do a million different things.
It all depends on what the creator put in them. Dutty's ROM is probably the most popular at the minute, because it contains all the software people are after.
Remember, a ROM is basically the OS with a collection of Software in it. In Dutty's case, it's also got a number of registry tweaks which improve performance.

There's now "best" ROM to install. Each ROM has their advantages based on what the person making it wants. Dutty's ROMs are pretty good - he has lite ROMs and full blown ROMs and ROMs with the touchflo/cube. There are other ROMs : Alex's, Quentin, CUSTEL, etc.
Read about each ROM to see if they include what you want and try it out. You will have to make the decision on which ROM is best for you. If you want to make your own try using Alex's ROM Kitchen (link in my sig).
Good luck.

Or you could just go to the phone manufacturers website and download the applicable file there and follow their (comprehensive) instructions. If you want to keep things all official, it's actually a very straightforward process. You only need to bother with hardSPL etc if you want to flash a custom ROM. A very important question you should ask yourself is why do I want WM 6.1. If you're thinking it's newer so it must be more reliable/better/faster etc etc check out the threads in Kaiser General relating to all the problems after upgrading - at least with regards to most of the official HTC ROM offerings (certainly the current UK one is included). I tried WM 6.1 for a while and had such significant problems, I had it reverted back to 6.0.
MMMMMM
To me WM 6.1 appearance is more sexier than the WM 6.0. Thats why am looking to upgrade my device in to WM 6.1
Flying Kiwi has a point about doing it officially - I'd forgotten that there was an official 6.1 rom. That said, for me custom roms are much more fun!
I've had both 6.0 and 6.1 on my phones and to be honest, I can't tell the difference.

What are you doing with your phone ......
Having tried both, there's very little difference between the two as far as the TyTN II native ROMs are concerned. It's only the customised ROMs that offer a flashier flash (but you can also get alot of that stuff through installing cabs - full details in the wiki and by searching/reading up on the xda-dev website).

How To downgrade w.m 6.5 To w.m 6.1 ?
I Search All The Fourm , But Not Find Anything ..
down a 6.1 rom
Your search was flawed.
If you really searched, you would find this: Blackstone Wiki with all informations you need.
download a 6.1 rom you like, do task29 first and flash it.

It's so easy! if you have already done HSPL, and I'm sure you've done it before, if you have wm6.5 now
I by myself several times switched between 6.5.x & 6.1, all you have to do is to download a ROM of WM6.1!
here below you can see some of them!
1. Topix 3.5 WM6.1 Manila 2.1
2. Park Basic 1.3
3. Cloudy 0.2
4. Black New III by Kenia
And USPL will do nicely - my HD is working proof...
Performing Task 29 would not be bad idea if device was flashed often.
I recommend to flash latest stock 6.1 ROM you can find for your device. If not, latest Orange UK will be pretty good choice, due to later version of radio (1.14).
AFAIK, Park Basic is discontinued...
I would suggest to flash a stock ROM since it already has 6.1 and then flash a 6.1 ROM of your choice. I've experienced issues when i downgrade from 6.5 to 6.1 sometimes.
Just to be on the safer side, flash the stock rom and then flash the 6.1 rom of your choice.
I would suggest to flush stock rom and to stay with it The last one for ORANGE is a perfect rom imho

A guide for downgrading already exists. Just scroll down to the ottom of the first post in this thread
Reservations about Orange ROM
Hi, I wouldn't use the Orange ROM. I spent some time getting rid of it. Main drawback is the AGPS. It insists on making a data call everytime you want to use GPS software. Also, no Google mobile map, and when downloaded from Google, no satellite view. I would recommend the standard HTC 1.56 ROM, that uses just GPS and is just as quick.
Regards
Mike
I have Garmin and Igo software working flawlessly. No data calls made ever. GPS works fine. I dont use googlemaps so no opinion on that
I made a 6.1 ROM a while back.. check my "Energy" thread for it.

Well, a-GPS can be easily disabled, so that's no big deal. There are several tools to do that here on forum, like HD Tweak. And you HAVE TO disable it if using iGO...
But standard ROM is also not a bad idea... not bad at all...

Can't agree more With all due respect and gratitude to the cooks and the hard work and efforts they put into their roms, for a basic user like me the stock rom turns out to be the best and Ive tested quite a few custom ones.
Just upgraded from wm 6.1 pro to t mobile wm 6.5 official rom on MDA compact V,not very impressed it`s pants,my question is if I use a cooked rom from here do I still have to hard spl the device, can some please help ,
Maybe some links to help me on my way,ie hspl links and best roms ect etc
Desparate.
thankyou.
Yes, you must install HSPL first.
Have a read here to get you started.
IMO the stock ROMS don't get anywhere close to the cooked ones on here. I changed my T-mobile ROM to one of Dutty's and have never looked back. The speed and the look of it is just unreal in comparison to the original. Go for it!
Ps It's really simple to do so don't worry.
