[Newbie Question] Dualboot with XDAndroid - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi all
I hate Windowsmobile on my HTC Touch Diamond and would like Android on my Mobile. I saw a interesting Post: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623048
I downloaded the Standard Version (im a newbie) and have 4 Files.
CustomRUU.exe
diamimg.nbh
PagePool_Changer.exe
I have read that i must copy the diamimg.nbh at the root of my internal storage and do a Hardreset by a ORIGINAL Windowsmobile ROM
How must I handle this with this ROM.?
Thanks for answer.
Greets

Hi!
You don't need to copy nothing...
First run PagePool_Changer.exe and select diamimg.nbh file.
then select whole part 20 and pust "change to" (so it will work faster)
Then run CustomRUU.exe and follow instructions...

Simple instructions for getting POINTUI installed on XDA11i

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simple instructions for installing the POINTUI program onto my XDA11i .
Thank you.
The recommended way is to install the WM5 cab and then copy the files for the WM2003 version over the WM ones installed on Program files pointui home 1.02b, that way you get registry entries and things are in their correct places.
Thanks for the reply BUT I am a complete novice in these matters - as such I have NO IDEA what you just said
Thanks anyway though !!
I got to this stage but not sure what to do ..
http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx
OK I am useless at all this technical stuff .
All the other programs I managed to get on my XDA11i were simple to install .
I downloaded a file anf clicked to run then they loaded automatically onto my XDA.
IS there a similar method for the POINTUI program .... PLEEEEEEASE
Sadly not for WM2003 but you are nearly there, I put a step by step on the other link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374360&page=2 persevere it is worth it. You only need to copy some files over the ones installed by the cab file
Hope this tutorial could help you
1. Download CAB Installer from Pointui website then copy the file to your PDA
2. Click the file on your PDA to install it
3. Download this file http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1...me.ppc2003.zip
4. Double click that zip file and extract to \Program Files\PointUI\Home\1.02b\ ( It's at your PDA directory )
5. It will ask to overwrite and just answer Yes.
6. Click on file name Home to run the application.
To make it run automatically when you soft reset the device you need to create shortcut to Startup folder
1. Copy filename Home and paste shortcut to \Windows\Startup\ ( PDA Directory )
2. Done
p/s: Its based on robsno step. Thanks
Thanks very much for your time and effort .
Sadly I will have to wait a whil longer as I am not technical enough to follow your insructions.
As I mentioned previously - All the other programs I managed to get on my XDA11i were simple to install .
I downloaded a file and clicked to run then they loaded automatically onto my XDA.
IS there a similar method for the POINTUI program YET ??
Guess not !!??

Hi
1. Download KaiserKitchen and extract it to your harddisk.
2. Download Thaihugo uploaded WWE 1.22x as your base ROM and put the RUU_Signed.nbh (WWE 1.22x archive has it) in the BaseROM folder of KaiserKitchen
3. Copy the Part files in the same BaseROM folder of KaiserKitchen
3. There will be a batch file (I forgot its name, I am sorry) in the root folder of KaiserKitchen. Just Run that.
3a. Press e (extract)
3b. Press b (using base rom and part files)
4. follow the steps that it asks
5. press option for cooking (i think c or something) I forgot.
6. It opens the HTCRT. Select Kaiser in the options and select the NB file that it created from the base rom and your part files (basically it is Part 2 that is the language part).
7. Once it is done, it will create a RUU_Signed.nbh in the base ROM file (it lets you to chose name and folder).
I am sorry, I could not remember the exact option names. I am currently travelling. The instructions are on my home computer. The other day cmonex helped in extracting from Chinese for me. I tried to recollect our chat and presented it here. let me know how did it go. Otherwise, if you could wait till tomorrow evening (I live in CST), I could provide you correct name of batch file and options.
You can download KaiserKitchen from Kaiser sub forum here. Search for KaiserKitchen and you could get the link for it to download.
Thanks and HTH
Ram
Thanks for the help... but, I've problems with the process, please take a look at the S.S. uploaded in this thread...
Here's another SS, the updater stop working at 0% saying device not recognized in the taskbar...
I also tried using thaihugo updater with my new RUU_signed.nbh...
no result... it stop working at 2%
what's the problem?
don't use this kitchen. Use kaiserkitchen 0.3. also, the nbhutils must be olipro version, not htccrt.
here is the proper nbhutils

What I did to get WM61 and the new radio installed with no sd card.....

After searching for hours on all the files, procedures, etc. on the subject, here's a quick guide for the n00b's out there that want to do this... Some information i will be repeating from other places on the internet.
----------------------------------
The following Files are needed (search the forums and google to locate)
1. CheetahUnlocker.rar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100)
2. Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar
3. Treo750Radio1.54.07.00.rar
4. RUUWrapper.zip
OK.. Now here we go
unrar the first file 'cheetahunlocker' and basically follow the instructions from the above #1 link. Two things to note: Ignore any images for Hermes and you must have .net 2.0 framework installed on the device.
when you run the unlocker, the first one worked fine for me, the second process didn't work, but that doesn't matter. also watch the screen for the unit to ask you about opening files. if you don't do it, it can time out and then you'll have to start over.
Now here is the fun part.
1. Unzip the RUUwrapper file to it's own folder.
2. unrar the CHEEIMG.nbh file from Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar into the same directory of the RUUwrapper files
3. rename the CHEEIMG.nbh file to CHEEIMG_FW.nbh
4. run the RUUWrapper.exe file and it will flash the rom of the unit to WM61. **remember to watch the screen for prompting of opening files at the beginning.
5. Done with WM61. Now for the radio update. It's basically the same process as above.
6. unrar the CHEEIMG.nbh file from Treo750Radio1.54.07.00.rar and put it into the RUUwrapper directory like before.
7. rename the CHEEIMG.nbh file to CHEEIMG_FW.nbh (delete the old one first)
8. Run the RUUwapper.exe file again to flash (this time) the radio to the unit. **remember to watch the screen for prompting of opening files at the beginning.
9. All Done.
----------------------
It worked fine for me with the Treo 750 and the AT&T network..
Main places i got information from were:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365873&page=9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100
Your method above just helped me escape a bootloader loop which was (apparently created) by trying to load a different custom rom after having installed hardSPL. The only precautionary measure I took was to place only one image (the same OS & Radio you used) into the RUUWrapper folder at a time and it loaded right up. Still checking and testing some things out because the bootup isn't exactly smooth as silk, and the old "TREO750-1.13-CNG" still shows up under About->Phone->Software Version, but all firmware references reflect the updates. MTTY was ineffective in my particular situation.
Now for testing the radio for reliability and battery drain,etc...
Thanks for the heads-up!
Witch one is the correct selection (see attachment)
Anybody? at least tell me where I can find information about RUUWrapper.
Well I clicked Force use safe SSPL and clicked through and I got a error message saying that it could not communicate with the 750 Error 246 check usb connection?
I read that Vista had some issues with usb connections and to download and use VistaRUU usb drivers, I installed it according to the description, still error 246 and sometimes error 202?
Any ideas?
honestly i don't remember seeing that screen you are getting. it looks like the software isn't detecting the rom you have on your phone, in which case i would use the autodetect.
Hello Eric,
If I use autodetect it says it can not detect what version I'm using "Recomend using Safe SSPL"
This was the ONLY process that worked for me. However, I did not use the Cheetah unlocker, it is unfriendly with my Vista USB connection. I used magic unlocker and then your instructions and now I running on WM 6.1..
Thanks.. great work!!
I wonder - do you have Voice Command anymore?
Just curious - I lost Voice Command when I did this upgrade. Sure, the OS runs nice, seems a little faster, but I sure do miss Voice command. I am running AT&T's Treo 750, which had Voice Command on it. Some people, on some websites, like TreoCentral said there was a 'lite' version, which did not have Voice Command, but I installed this version: Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar, and that seems like the right one.
So, I wonder - do you have Voice Command anymore?
As I know it is the normal version's bug (missing the voice command).
I completed set 1, no success!
When u say add to directory what do you mean?
missing the voice command? Oh my...

This is great and it worked for me so I'm including the files here.
WM 6.1 does have some things that need to be debuged.
I havent tried WM 6.0 but from what I read on here it seems that 6.0 is more stable.
Does any one know if this route will work for WM 6.0?
If so does any one know which file do you download?
Will this set up work with WM 6.0?
http://omnifusionhosting.net/treo750/
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=221&t=41062
Well, WM6.0 is more stable, for one thing I had a faster battery drain with WM6.1 than I did with 6.0.
As mentioned earlier, some missing stuff like voice command, but one thing I thought wouldn't be there was messaging. For some reason that Messaging is half annoying me.
While I'm at it, anyone know how to backup SMS messages? That Messaging app is just keeping them to itself.

[How To] Step by step guide to Backup your Shift to nbh (All Steps!)

Please rate this thread if it was useful...
I know that stuff like this has been posted before but I have never seen a full guide begining to end on how to backup your rom so here is the complete guide (with links) beginning to end of how to backup your WM6X ROM on HTC's Shift to an NBH
To do this you will need a HTC Shift (dir), and basic knowledge of Windows Mobile, Vista, the command prompt and Syncing a WM device with a computer.
NOTE: I am NOT sure if you need HardSPL on the device to flash the ROM back onto your Shift (if someone could let me know that would be great), my guess is that you do as the created nbh will not be signed with HTC's Cert - HardSPL can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606 and is compatible with GSM Shifts only (x9500)
If anyone has any suggestions as to how this post could be improved or tell me if something needs a more in-depth explanation, let me know - Thanks.
First you will need to Liberate your shift; instructions on how to do this can be found here: http://www.modaco.com/content/windows-mobile-news/266537/liberate-your-htc-shift/ (this step will "unlock" the restrictions on windows mobile - this is not necessary but makes installing RAPI tools and other files easier later.
Download HardSPL (we are not going to install HardSPL in this post, but the download includes RAPI that is needed prior to the next step) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606
When the download has finished extract the contents and copy EnableRapi.cab to your device (To do this select Settings from the today screen > USB Tool > Options > Detach from Vista > Options Attach to Vista - yes detach is not always required but seems to solve some issues with syncing).
Your device will now appear in "My Computer"; copy the file somewhere to your device then switch to Windows mobile and run the file.
Download the latest version of itsutils from: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html (Look under download section) then follow the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382609
After you have followed the instructions there you will have created RAW files of your Windows Mobile ROM (on the post you will notice the the code window in color - these may be different depending on your device and may need to be changed)
Now we need to convert the raw file to an nbh to do this you will need to download the shift kitchen from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422914 then extract the files from the rar archive (using winrar, winace etc)
On some computers the below operation may fail saying "Error loading dll msvcr71.dll" so you should download and extract the attached zip file (msvcr71.zip) to the Tools directory
When you have done that put the *.raw files created by itsutils into the BaseROM directory and run the !BEGIN.cmd file
Select option 2 when asked to rebuild a ROM and follow instructions.
When the command has completed run the !COOK.cmd file; When a window appears titled BuildOS Click on the Play button and wait for the process to complete then close the BuildOS window
Follow further instructions; until another window appears, Select Shift as the "Target Device" and under "OS" select os-new.nb, then click "Build NBH!",
A window will appear asking you to save the NBH - DO NOT CHANGE THE PATH as it kept crashing when I tried to save elsewhere and call the file RUU_Signed.nbh
Copy the file RUU_Signed.nbh where you want and download and extract CustomRUU.zip (attached) to the same path
To restore the ROM all you need to do is Sync with Vista and run CustomRUU.exe
Feedback is always welcome,
Thanks,
Kris
*RESERVED*
All done! But when performing this process
BuildOS Click on the Play button and wait for the process to complete
I have Error window:
Error: File `ROM\XIP\boot.rgu` not found.
and when I click `OK` - process stops!?
What is wrong?
All done without errors!
Previous Error was under XP on D:\ with many subdirs to `shiftkitchen`.
Now all OK is under Vista with `shiftkitchen` in root of C:\
Thanks!
Little question. I am backuping original Russian ROM... an in the ending window (when I choose "Shift" and "os-new.nb") there is Language:WWE. Is there have to be something else?...

When you flash your ROM it will be the Russian ROM ... the WWE setting there and the version are just what is displayed in the ROM flashing tool (CustomRUU.exe)
I had the Spanish version and used this process beginning to end - and it says WWE in the flasher but still installs the Spanish version
Kris
Kris, thanks! Believe that I`ll not have reason to use it. But with this reserved ROM it is composed to make any ROM manipulatios.
Thanks once more!
can i request this to be a stickey?
thanks
Great work i00
I have added it to the WIKI and the FAQ thread.
I confirm that you DO need to install HardSPL on the device PRIOR to flashing the ROM back onto your SHIFT.
it's work

Back-up the rom and radio files
Hi i00, absolutely great guide, thank you for the hard and tidy work!
Since I'm a beginner in this area, before doing the dump job myself, kindly ask you to advise if the dump operation leaves the Shift unchanged on the winmo side and I can use it further, i.e. it is a read-only operation OR do I need to load back (flash back) the resulting back-up files (ROM and radio)?
Thank you!
rom
Hi all
i just bought a brand new shift and want to have a back up of the ROM
I've exacted 4 parts of the rom, but unable to convert it back into a NBH
i cant seem to figure out if i need the RUU_Signed.nbh , and where do i get it from, i thought i was making RUU_Signed.nbh from the 4 raw part files.
if anyone can re upload the complete UK ROM.NHB i would be grateful
i have uploaded the 4 part files and the boot loader
www(dot)filedropper(dot)com/rawfiles
part00.raw
part01.raw
part02.raw
part03.raw
SPL.nb
also do i need hardSPL to even load the original back up rom?
thanks
is this the file i need to include in my baserom folder?

Clarification on changing language

First of all I would like to thank those who posted tutorials and ROMs for language changes and "4deft". It really works fine if you do it correctly.
I want to add a clarification for language change. It's very easy to assume from reading the related posts that the Hard SPL should be copied to the diamond and installed from there. IMPORTANT.. Everything is done from your PC! Here are the more precise steps:
1. Create a folder in My Documents called Diamond Language Change for future reference. (Recommended, not essential)
2. Download the Hard SPL to above directory on your PC
3. Extract the zip file to a new directory by the same name as the SPL file
4. Download the desired language ROM version to the Language Change folder and extract the zip file to a directory of the same name as the downloaded ROM file
5. From the extracted folder in step 3 run the romupdateutility.exe and make sure to read and follow ALL prompts
6. From the extracted folder in step 4 run the romupdateutility.exe file (it will have the same icon as step 5) and wait.
7. If you did this right, in about 10 minutes you will see the start-up screen on your Diamond and it will prompt you into initial configuration and settings. THEN YOU ARE DONE
8. Remember, all these steps are done from the PC and not within the Diamond
I hope this helps some other newbies like myself!
